Opinions de Panera Bread Escondido
The Manager Julio was extremely nice, very accommodating and had excellent customer service. He definitely went above and beyond! The Mediterranean bowl was super tasty! My wife and I will definitely return soon.
I joined the unlimited sipper club. Great place for a pit stop. There is plenty of parking and a lot of thirsty people walking around. So be smart driving around the front of shop. It has a poor design and many don't know what's going on.
Love Panera bread, always get the you pick 2. My favorite is a Fuji apple salad and the broccoli cheese soup. I've been going to various paneras for years. Prices have substantially increased!
Love the kitchen sink cookie...always a sucker, especially if ordering through the kiosk and they are gonna give me such a great deal with my sip club drink...why not? Always a pleasure. Thanks
My favorite bagel date spot. Yummy, clean and professional.
Ordered online so the food was readily available when we arrived. We were able to sit at an open table outdoor and enjoy the San Diego weather. The place was clean, people were friendly and food was great. What more can you ask for!?

The catering manager, Angel, is the best! She is very helpful, professional, and flexible when it comes to our special requests. She is always so friendly even when she is extremely busy. The entire staff at this location in Escondido is always on point. Thank you all!

Stopped by for quick lunch over the weekend. Great location and healthy food options. Ordering food through kiosk did take few minutes longer than expected as machine failed to communicate with the server couple times.

I don’t believe the food is as good as it used to be but still decent. This location is ok but not the cleanest. I didn’t enjoy eating there. The staff is friendly and responsive.
Good variety of fresh food and baked goods. You are encouraged to order at a kiosk and have to pick up order at counter so minimal service. Counter clerk Hope was nice.

This Panera has looked like a dump lately. The ceiling got a leak in the last rain, and now a whole section of seating is Dextered off. The inside is dingy and date and is always at least a little smoky, sometimes smoky enough to make your eyes water. And the outside is filthy. The furniture desperately needs cleaning to remove all the dirt and bird droppings. If it wasn't for that Sip Club and wifi, and a few outlets, no one would come here.
This place is so overpriced. The bread is good but they definitely skimp on the sandwiches. This is one half of a $16 sandwich. There's hardly anything inside that massive roll.

Panera no longer offers good value for what you pay. I'll admit that the meal I got was filling but the flavor was just mediocre and my chicken ranch sandwich was mostly bread. You'll have to pay $3.49 for a cookie if you want a "cheap" sweet treat, otherwise you can buy other pastries for upwards of $5. Fortunately the sodas are refillable, which I believe is the only reason I was able to satiate my hunger. I'd recommend visiting In-n-Out across the street where you can still get a meal for a somewhat reasonable price.
First time ever walking into a Panera. I was tempted by the new sandwiches shown on t.v. the toasted baguettes. I got one of each kind, the Pizza Mozzarella Melt, Smokey Buffalo Chicken melt, and the Green Goddess Caprese melt. I specifically asked for no arugula and guess what, arugula... all 3 sandwiches that are the same price were all different sizes, not 1 sandwich was labeled or marked on the sticker. How is this OK? Even my receipt said no arugula. The young man at the cashier was friendly, and smiled, and went over my order, even reiterated the "no arugula " so for him, the 2nd star was earned. I regret the 10% tip.. I've been in this industry for decades.... READ THE TICKET KIDS.... READ... THE... TICKET.... the sandwiches weren't that bad... but I can take a hop skip away to rocking Jenny subs for these prices, and have better sandwiches. I guess when it says on the receipt, "accuracy matters" it didnt today. I didnt think i had to open all 3 sandwiches to check the accuracy. 🌟🌟
I ordered a Whole (Full size) Caesar Salad, when the called my name to pick it up it looked a bit skimpy, like maybe they forgot to add enough lettuce. I mentioned to the staff that I had ordered the “Whole” Caesar Salad and it looked maybe like a half size, didn’t even fill out the bowl. The guy said it was correct, as he “weighed” it, followed by a facial expression that was like “that’s it, sorry dude”. I brought the skimpy Caesar to my table, in disbelief I just paid $10 for this. I went back to the staff and asked someone different for an additional bowl, a half sized bowl. I then transferred the Whole Caesar Salad to the Half sized bowl. It fit perfectly, looked correct. The Half size is priced around $5-6. The Salad tasted good. But the value just doesn’t seem to be there, like if that’s really all the salad you get for the Full/Whole Caesar, they really should just change their bowls so the presentation is better. Having a giant bowl that looks empty was really frustrating. Having the staff tell me it was correct because they weighed it was frustrating. Not a single staff or manager came by to ask how my food was. It was a less than poor experience, I’m always reminiscent of the Panera of days gone by and continually disappointed of the serving portions, level of customer service, value and taste. I ended up going there because I had a “deal” to join their “unlimited sip club” for $3.99/month for 3 months. So I decided to stay for lunch and do a little work (video call). The environment ended up being so loud between their machines and staff yelling, laughing and goofing off I’ll never end up doing that again. Horrible environment to get any work done. I’m even thinking the sip club is worth canceling because their “Charged” lemonades had some funky taste. Panera, don’t get me wrong, I want to love you again. But until then we will only exchange some awkward stares.

Terrible. Visit was on Nov 8. First the food was cold, and gave us food poisoning. And when we were eating there was an employee sweeping the floors next to our table and we can feel the wind and dust getting into our face. Our day was already ruined and we were trying our hardest to be respectful about the food and the employee. So we didn’t say anything. I get it, you have to clean. But the restaurant was EMPTY but chose to clean the table right next to where people are eating? That’s very unprofessional.
It's been a while since I've eaten at Panera and after today I will never eat there again. Thirty minutes after I ate a Citrus Asian Salad w/chicken I had the worst case of diarrhea that I have ever had. The restaurant didn't look very clean and fresh. I was given a free pastry for my birthday (chocolate chip cookie) that tasted days old so I only took one bite, and the Pepsi I was drinking didn't quite taste normal. Overall, a bad experience.
I've been coming here because of the free unlimited drinks with a 3 month trial. Every time I'm here I hear someone complaining about the portion sizes of their food. Everything on the menu is mediocre and overpriced. Bagels are always sold out, even by 10 AM. Even the drinks are not good, how they mess up tea and coffee is beyond me. The center this Panera location is in is always chaotic at all times of day. Parking is limited, especially near the Panera. When ordering just a drink, they will take 10+ minutes to put the cup out and it's never in the rapid pickup area like it says it will be. It also always says it's ready but it's not. Staff likes to avoid customers at this location and it's hard to get someone's attention from behind the counter. The biggest problem is that they have 3 different pickup areas. Behind the register, on the rapid pickup shelves, and the counter by the drink machine. It's very inconsistent where your order might be placed. Overall avoid this terrible location and Panera in general.
The restrooms and dining room were super dirty!! The staff was really busy so I understand things can get backed up however it wasn’t even during the usual lunch rush hour. The dishes were piled up, the trash cans were beyond full, and the restrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was no toilet paper in the stalls, there was urine everywhere, and trash all over the floor. The staff was very nice but they are definitely overworked and need more help!
My wife and I were at this Panera for an important meeting. Our two autistic sons were with us, eating quietly and handling everything with incredible patience. They were calm, respectful, and better behaved than many adults we have seen in restaurants. After the meeting ended, we went up to the front to look at the menu and order food to go. We sat the boys at the end of a booth near the register. Our oldest has sensory regulation needs. Part of how he regulates is by bouncing and loudly slapping the bench. The sound is part of what helps his body calm and organize itself. It was not destructive in any way, and we were fully aware of it. Every single time he began doing it, either my wife or I immediately stepped in and redirected him. He listened and stopped each time. Then an employee with brunette hair and a tattoo on her forearm, who was working the oven area and may have been a manager, walked up to us and said, “Can you make him stop?” before turning and walking away without giving us a second to respond. No patience. No empathy. No acknowledgment that we were already actively managing the behavior every single time it happened. Let me be absolutely clear. Our son was not misbehaving. He was regulating his body in the only way that works for him, and we were right there guiding him. The only uncomfortable part of the entire visit was the way this employee chose to speak to us. As parents of autistic children, we work every day to help our boys navigate public spaces safely and confidently. We do not expect everyone to immediately understand autism, but we do expect basic kindness and respect. What we encountered instead was dismissiveness toward a disabled child who was doing his best. Panera calls itself a community space. If an employee, possibly a manager, thinks this is an appropriate way to approach a family with disabilities, then this location has serious work to do when it comes to disability awareness and customer service. Families like ours deserve better.
