Tom Wahls is one of the, if not the best burger joint in New York. Everything is fresh and tasty. I recommend the Junker 55 plate. Much better than any other garbage plates. The root beer is to die for. Get it in a frosted mug!

Tom Wahls has some pretty tasty food. A little expensive though. Save money with some coupons of order a value meal. This place was a dump years ago but they finally put some money into sprucing the place up.

Simply, I love Tom Wahl's. I think we had the fried mushrooms, a steak burger , fries and drinks. We were just ahead of the lunch rush. The store was presentable and clean, the staff was pleasant and everything went well. I would recommend this store (and several others) always.

I love a great cheeseburger and milkshake or float once in a while and even better when you can get it in a drive through! Tom Wahl's has classic hearty homemade burgers and their own root beer! It's a great family treat!

The food is really good here but be prepared to wait a little bit. They have a drive thru but it's not fast food so it's not instant.the burgers are fresh but expensive so to get the best value order the kids meals or use the buy one get one ground steak coupons, they're like a $5 value and easy to google. Search Tom Wahl's coupon and it should come right up.

Fries were great. Man behind the counter looked overworked, but kept a cool head to him. The burger with a piece of ham on it was weird, but not bad. Overall good experience. You can also see the local NAPA Auto Parts from the window. Huge plus.

Tom Wahl's in Fairport is our go to fast food place. Skip those gold arches or any other drive thru fast food. Go here! The food here is cooked fresh and always on point. Their cheeseburgers are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The onion rings are crispy and golden, adding a delightful crunch to every bite. But let's talk about the cheese curds—oh my goodness! They are the epitome of cheesy goodness, with a crispy coating that gives way to a molten, gooey center. A visit to Tom Wahl's is incomplete without indulging in these heavenly cheese curds. Highly recommended!

T Wahl's is ALWAYS good! Today I experienced special service. My milkshake wasn't ready when my buzzer went off so the gentleman told me that he would bring it to where I was seated. It was thick and delicious as always.

If you like a smashed burger that is prepared when you order then this place is a great choice. Multiple orders with modifications have been perfect which is great for picky eaters. The chicken sandwich is an alternative for those who want it. The chicken has had hard knots from time to time. The fries are crispy with a fluffy interior and do not come seasoned. The onion rings are okay; nothing to write home about.

Tom Wahls is always good and pretty fast. Not the best fries but good. Burger's very good. They have plates, combo meals. Make they're own root beer which is delicious. Overall it's a good place to go for lunch anytime.

I use the drive thru here usually a couple times a month. The food is always fresh and hot. And,in these days of lousy customer service and screwed up orders, my order is always perfect. Meals here are no more expensive than fast food.

Ate outside and it was clean and quiet. Staff inside were very friendly and my order came very quickly. It would have been nice to have napkins outside but I can also understand why they're not. Portions were spilling over the containers.

Went on a busy Friday night and the place was so clean, spotless, and food was ready so fast and was great! Employees are so friendly and are on top of cleaning everything, tables, door handles, windows etc. The manager was also fantastic!

We always try to go to Tom Wahls when passing thru the Rochester area, even going out of our way a little we make a point to go atleast once or twice a year. I have been to a few other locations over the decades, and always found them clean, organized and a friendly staff. First time at this location did not quite live up to the standards of the others had set, but to be fair I think we just came at a bad time. It was loud and chaotic when we came in with several messy tables. The cashier seemed impatient with us and to not be paying attention as we kept having to repeat our order as he stared off to the side unsure we were heard (just 2 people getting a burger frie and drinks nothing crazy. My burger had an insane amount of mayo, not sure what happened there but it was almost a comical amount on both sides, easy to scrape some off and still enjoy the burger. My spouce really enjoyed his mushroom burger. I do have to give them some credit as there was a group from a baseball team leaving as we parked and when we came in a dozen todlers with only two adults for supervision who didn't seem to have any control of them running around by the order counter and dineing room and that is clearly not the staffs fault and was probably very overwhelming for the staff also and it wouldn't be fair to judge under those circumstances, service industry can be unpredictable and overwhelming. If your thinking of checking out this location know there may be loud messy kids there but its worth it because Wahls has really great unique burgers, the best creemy rootbeer and a fun retro vibe....and mabey order your mayo on the side. I wish there were a location closer to Buffalo.

A Rochester area gem, and a great place for families. The chicken tender trash plate is amazing... The buffalo style grilled chicken sandwich is awesome, the burgers are 10x times better than any chain restaurant and the root beer & vanilla ice cream float is the best in Rochester! Wait time is longer than "fast food"..... But the quality is so much better.

It's hard to beat this American classic, it's famous thin burgers are deliciously satisfying and the root beer is a family recipe. 4/5 because the staff is hit or miss.

Asked for no onions due to food allergy. Put it on my food anyway. Counter person asked me to pick it off. Left hungry.. broght food home for my dog. Never at this location again.. Usally eat at the one in Avon NY .. i will be going out of my way when i need the root beer

Tom Whals is a basically a Rochester hots place with a multi-location, large scale twist. Food is good, 50s atmosphere and decor is there for ppl who are into that. TW > Bill Gray's for quality and value

Old school old town flare with great tasting foods at great prices. Can't eat hear as often as my taste buds would like because the fried content & ice cream sundaes like my waistline too much.

Everything's great at Tom Wahl's. Service as well. Fries were weird. One batch fresh, one not, served at the same time. Strawberry Sunday was tasty thanks to the strawberry sauce, but the soft serve wasn't as "icy" as I would have liked.

My girlfriend and I have been there twice. She really liked the cheeseburgers and so did I. Able to use buy one, get one free coupon from Entertainment book. Lots of seating. Outdoor seating a plus on warmer days.

Burgers are a little greasy, very filling, but also very yummy. We always ask for our fries extra crispy and they never are so that kinda stinks. The root beer is awesome!

When we arrived we let them know we were picking up a to-go order. The order was ready but it sat on the counter for 15 min before they realized it was ours. They did give us a free mac salad to make up for it. The Fish Fry was pretty good and the Root beer is fantastic. Some folks may want to order the fish fry extra crispy

My husband and I went for a Friday fish fry. At 530 it was busy but the food came out quickly. I had the fish sandwich. I like a beer batter fish more but this was very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to get it again. Of course the root beer is wonderful.

Friendly staff and I just feel comfortable surrounded by the retro decor!!! We got ice cream cones and were satisfied with the portion and flavor 😁

Tom Wahl's used to be a Rochester fixture, now it is a ghost town because they charge so much. There are more employees than customers. Food is decent but at this price go some place fancy.

Make sure the staff fully comprehends your order. They screwed up a simple burger order - 4 "plain" ground steak burgers with onions, 2 with Wahl Sauce and 2 without Wahl Sauce. What did I get? I got 4 onion burgers with mayonnaise and no Wahl Sauce. Plain means "PLAIN!" No ketchup, no mustard, no mayo. Those running the front line should be a little more attentive to customer needs. + Their burgers taste great. You get a ton of fries and they taste good too. - Their chicken is bland. Onion rings taste like they were deep fried in yesterday's oil. The staff is half attentive to customer needs. Caution: floor is slippery around the ketchup/mustard dispensers.

The worst. The Menu board isn't even complete with what they offer .The prices are ridiculous!! I ordered cheeseburgers not steaks!! I waited 15 minutes in line and basically got my food Shoved out a window at me.

I was with a lady that had foot surgery, she almost fell due to the floor bringing slippery, also was with an elderly man. I was even sliding on the floor. The food was good though, no complaints there.

The mac salad on my 55 junker plate is usually good, but this time it's tasting a little peculiar, almost as if it's days old or had been sitting out to warm up. I hope they're making a fresh batch of mac salad daily and keeping it refrigerated.

I usually love Tom Wahl's, but not today. I ordered a fish dinner over the phone because my phone wouldn't let me order through their website because it said it was an unsafe site. I picked my order up in the drive through--Fairport location. I ordered mac salad instead of French fries. Upon opening it at home, I have French fries and no mac salad, AND the fish is very much over fried! I hope this is not the new norm!

The fries were unsalted and no salt was in the bag making them really tasteless. The grilled chicken sandwich was bland and the only parts of my mushroom Swiss burger with flavor was the parts with steak sauce.

My boyfriend and I went in for to grab dinner and I was grossed out by the trash and food on the floor. The guy who took our order was miserable even after my boyfriend and I were extremely polite and kind. There seemed to be no management present and no one looked like they were trying to give us a good experience. Extremely disappointed and just an overall not good experience at this location.

Tom always my favorite place to step by after a long day of work, I work 7 days a week and I don’t miss a day to step by to purchase my favorite meal. But today I had a bad day of service, I went through drive through making my order loud and clear. Done and drived up to the window with the guy cashier I respect he might have a bad day maybe was a busy shift maybe thats why the attitude given when I hand him cash. I missheard what was the change and just because I took a minute to pull an even change gaved me a hufff sound just for taking a minute. Ok no problem as said maybe pressured busy shift we all go through that. I took my order and I don’t open it till I get home. Arrived to my home opened with a half grilled cheeseburger that had onions which I’m allergic to. Not correct order. And there was no fries or anything. I was charged an amount for incorrect order. Now it made it worse, cashier attitude and wrong food. I got pissed because it was getting worsez I hope things gets better. I ended up throwing the order away. As a loyal customer I had an upset experience .

Well, it would have been much better if the Mac. Salad didn't smell like it was bad. I rarely go through the Drive Thru, but today I did. Big mistake because now I am home and not going back out. Thanks Tom Wahls for keeping in top of things. NOT.

I will NEVER come here again. I order a Wahlburger NO LETTUCE 3 times in a row and I get extra lettuce 3 times in a row. I NEVER get my side of whatever I order. And of course it's not until I get home to find out, They all act like I'm bothering them, and are completely rude. This place is trash, never again will I EVER GO HERE!!!

I was craving a Zweigles white hot so I did drive-up and that is all I ordered. It was late in the day and when I opened the bag I was very disappointed. It roll was flatter than a pancake and I don’t think I got a Zweigles because it was longer and thinner than that brand. Last time I will go there.

How do you give the customer a pager and it doesn't work and then we I go to inquire about my food, it had been sitting there all along and you knew that it was already done without telling me even when the place was not busy! Giving one star is a being too nice! Wouldn't be going back ever!

I have never had an experience like this here. The cashier was very unpleasant. I asked were they upset? The response I got was this is my normal face. So I finished ordering my food. And I sat where I could see their interactions with other people. The cashier smiled and laughed with other customers. This did not sit well with me. So I spoke to a manager and the excuse that she gave was that the cashier is on medication. After that I was so disgusted I took my food to go. I had to tell my son that we will find another Tom wahl to patron.

Tom Wahl’s is usually great but not this location. Every time you order at the drive-thru, they sound annoyed. Today our burgers were slopped with mayonnaise on the top and bottom bun, it wasn’t appetizing at all. I recommend if you want Tom Wahl’s just drive to another location, I won’t waste my money on this one anymore.

good but close!! and not close to competition at Shake Shack on the rest stop in i90. $7.50 for a better, crispier, name brand burger with perfect caramelized onions and perfect secret sauce. if Tom Whals could reclaim that spot in rochester with a menu refresh and crispier smashed burgers (just use wallpaper scrapers guys). I’d eat them all day for $6, $8 for a double (just use less meat but a more smashed patty). Pickles are fine but worth an investment in upgrading like a kewpie / MSG mayo. To-Go was easy and well packaged with care! Tip You should serve the burgers upside down so the bun soaks up more of the juice, otherwise it was great when I got home. Bun and meat/ bacon was Excellent! This place is so close and needs a a refresh, people love burgers and McDonald’s and Burger King are disgusting and use addictive pricing and deals. A consistent low price quality burger would be awesome and is the heart of what a cheeseburger is. What I had just not worth $9.

The staff is absolutely miserable. We had never used the drive thru, but they definitely take advantage of the multiple signs promoting long wait times, which defeats the convenience of a drive thru. We were overcharged, too…not worth wasting my time with a phone call. Garbage.

Definitely not In-and-out hamburger. The style of the store to atmosphere so similar. I was really looking forward to a good hamburger, but what a let down big disappointment. I had a coupon buy 1 get second 50% off. I request everything on the cheese ground beef burger. There was no tomato or onion, or lettuce. Just a lot of ketchup, mustard, and little redish pickles. And for 3 cheese burger and 2 drinks cost of $31.38 (basically $10 per person) for this kind of dried 😑 untasteful hamburger. I should have just make it myself at home. No I won't be going back.

This place has gone down hill. Burgers today were gray and rock hard. The lettuce was wilted and the tomato was not even close to red. The float had no carbonation and didn’t even taste like root beer. This was a treat for my elderly father’s birthday. I told him to stop eating the hamburger .. it was so disgusting, I was afraid he would get sick.I will never ever go back again. It’s a shame… we used to love this place.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Tom Wahl’s. The dining room was not clean—floors were dirty, tables hadn’t been wiped down, and the side of the soda machine was downright disgusting. If the front of the house looks like this, it seriously makes you question the cleanliness of the kitchen. I also observed multiple employees in the food prep area without hair restraints. The food was mediocre at best. The burger was poorly assembled, with minimal toppings sliding off the bun, and it was served on a plate too small to even hold it properly. Eating it was a constant struggle just to keep it off the table. Flavor-wise, it was nothing special. At $16 for a single burger, frozen crinkle-cut fries, and a drink, the price is not justified. Overall, this place is overpriced, lacks attention to cleanliness, and does not live up to expectations.

Ordered a plate for delivery and specifically did not check any toppings, especially not meat sauce because I'm allergic to some spices that are usually in meat sauces. Despite not checking any toppings, they smothered the plate in meat sauce and onions that I did not want and cannot eat. The whole plate had to go into the garbage because it was all contaminated. On top of that, it was really obvious that the fries were not crispy as I had requested - they were actually less well done than usual. Should really be careful to read what was ordered because you could end up sending someone into anaphylaxis, thankfully I only got a little wheezy from smelling the meat sauce when I opened the box

Called ahead to place an order. Was told 15-20 minutes. Got there in 10. Food was sitting there shakes were not made. Waited over 15 minutes for the shakes. The food was cold by the time we got the shakes. Not the first time this has happened. I've been told sit down and eat and we'll bring you the shakes and our entire party will finish their meal and have to go up to the counter and ask for our shakes again that still will not be made. If this happened once or twice I would understand but it's every time.

I am extremely disappointed at once great food with this establishment. I asked for a root bear without ice and it was filled to the top with ice. The tenders were chewy and the fries lacked any flavor. If I could leave half a star, I would.
