Marcell served us.Spagetti wasn’t handmade but sauce is so good.Calzone is amazing. We’ll try pizza next time.Thank you for everything.
Easy 5/5 stars. We reserved a party for 15 and upon arrival we were all set up. The customer service from beginning to end was superb, excellent job. Thank you from me and the whole party. The food was too kill for. I had a meat lovers pizza and it did not let me down. Portion size was monstrous, flavor was tasty, and appealing to the eye. Everyone at the table was so happy their whole visit. Drinks from the bar were well mixed and poured heavy, to my tongue. 0 issues today. Thanks for everything.
On vacation and wanted pizza. Everything was perfect. Sat at the bar. Joe waited on us. My wife had the chefs salad which she said is probably the most prefect one she has ever gotten at a restaurant. The order of meatballs was big and very good. The margarita pizza was perfect. Even the happy hours drinks were done right. Only complaint was the garlic rolls eere a little too garlic strong for us and we love garlic. The locals were very friendly. Highly recommend.
My friend and I went to Umberto’s for dinner, because we wanted to try a different restaurant. We weren’t very hungry, so we ordered a chef salad and the “special” pizza, recommended by the waitress. Both items were GREAT! The chef salad was a very large portion, already cut up and ready to eat. It was so delicious! The pizza was served on a tall platter that kept the table from being too crowded, making it easy to enjoy. It was just the right size and baked to perfection! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience there, and I will be visiting again very soon for takeout!
We were in the area for Christmas weekend and stopped by here at the recommendation of a local and it was a great call. Their pizzas are hand tossed and stone baked to perfection. The crust on them is crispy, yet soft enough to fold and their house builds for the toppings are very well thought out. There's something for everyone there. Their pasta is amazing too and their sauces are house made, expertly so. What an amazing find! That garlic oil over the home made rolls is absolutely to die for....
Wow, Wow! Humberto blew away my expectations! Such a great Italian restaurant! The ambience was so beautiful, the food espectacular, generous portions, drinks were great and service was excellent! Prices very reasonable for the area. I will come back for sure to enjoy other menu items.
I’m from NY….. and the only thing good there is the pizza so when I ventured to Florida my friends recommended me this place which is great! Long Island is in NY! The pizza was delicious!! One of the best actually. And the wings were perfect, I need to try their baked wings next. 10/10 amazing.
About 15 years ago, we had one of these in Boca on 441. I always loved the Grandmas Pizza Slice. So I was thrilled when our travels took us to West Palm, and there was an Umberto’s in the shopping plaza! The food is just as amazing as I can remember! We got the calamari, steak sub, grandma slice and kids chicken fingers! Everything was tasty, yummy and fresh! The slice is soooooooooooo good! If your a big fan of Fresh Motz and amazing marinara, then this is the slice of pie for you! It’s such a good size piece I only needed one. The calamari is lightly breaded and they give you the option to get all rings for an up charge. I don’t like wasting food, so I opted for all rings no tentacles. And their dipping marinara is to die for!!! My hubs sub was nice portion and filled with fresh Peppers 🌶 and onions 🧅, and was super tasty. The kids chicken fingers were cutlet type, just like Nonna used to make, with nice thinner cut fries! I really enjoyed our lunch, and even though we ate in the car, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. They have it very old world Italian, just like I grew up! I look forward to eating here again when my travels take me back that way again!

Visiting from out of town and family was determined to share Umberto's with us, and I am SO GLAD they did! If you go, grandma's special pizza is the only food you need to order. We added sausage, and it was sublime. It had a floppy crust with a crispy edge. How? I'll never know, but I honestly don't care. It was delicious. It rivals all other pizza we've had across the country, and we've had a lot... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Will definitely be back. Also pictured: lasagna, veal parmigiana, tricolore pizza x2

Good Italian restaurant We ordered chef salad and pasta all’s vodka. Everything were delicious Garlic rolls the waiter gave us as appetizers for free Good service and place
We ordered mussels meal to eat as apps and gobbled up so quickly there’s no pic! Highly recommend!! We also had eggplant parm and shrimp francese—oh so delicioso mamma mia!
Absolutely loved this food. I recommend the chicken Parmigian. The mozzarella sticks were great as well. Our server was very nice and polite. Comfortable atmosphere. Didn't have the pizza but what I saw at the table meet to mine , looked amazing.
Classic Italian, Pizza was great, definitely going back for more
I have become a regular. Italian is my favorite cuisine, and I really like it here. They have several options for vegetarians, and they will customize, which is great for me because I'm always wanting to mix it up. The service I get from Ashley, especially, is top notch, but the entire staff is great. I love the atmosphere. I meet new and interesting people every time I go. Highly recommend.
Stopped in randomly for a quick bite on the way to the airport. So glad we did! Great food, big portions, and great prices. We'll be going back next time we are in Fort Lauderdale.
Love this place. Food is great and I love pizza. My favorite is the grandma' and the veggie. Super loaded with vegetables. My friend had the gluten free pizza and she loved it. I always go to Umberto' everytime I'm in town. Never disappoint.
We eat umbertos nearly every weekend. They deliver which is awesome. Never had a bad meal and we’ve been ordering for many years. I saw 4.3 stars and decided I should make a review as they are much better than that. Pizza is always cooked perfectly with the right amount of toppings which don’t slide off. The pasta dishes are great especially the lasagna. My kids love the chicken tenders (cutlets) and spaghetti with meatballs. Their umbertos wings are on point. Must try them! Also their salads are very good.
Sat at the bar, the bartender is a really good guy, I am just bad at remembering names. Order the Grandmother's Pizza, it is just a cheese pizza, but it is done SUPERBLY. Seriously the best I can recall eating anywhere.
The food here is is good!!! Excellent prices. Best penne a la vodka I ever had!! So happy I found the right Umberto’s of Long Island. I was here over 10 years ago and is still the same!! There’s another Umberto’s which is weird. Don’t confuse them. You want the one in Commercial Blvd.
OMG..!!!🙏 I had to travel from Jersey to Ft Lauderdale, one of my nephews mentioned good things about this place,he wasn't wrong about it,so I went ahead and order linguine with white clams ,that came with garlic rolls, just amazing..!!! I also work in the restaurant industry.
This place was amazing. The food was so good. My husband and I had the large Grandmas pizza and it was so delicious! The service was stellar, even got to talk Yankee baseball and watch them hit 5 home runs before we left!! What a fabulous experience!!! Next time we are on that coast, I am coming there!!
Great experience. Had salmon Caesar salad. Was excellent with a large piece of fish. My friend Gary had the Chicken Marsala which came with plenty of mushrooms. Good food and good company. Would recommend
This is some of the most delicious Italian food I've ever tasted! It's basically like taking your taste buds to Italy for a few hours. Umberto's is a must-have for anyone near the Fort Lauderdale area! As soon as you get in, I recommend ordering their garlic rolls. They're ready soon after you order them — warm and covered in garlic-soaked butter. So yummy! Also, their pizza is AMAZING! I know what you're thinking: Pizza is always delicious. You have a point. But this one is spectacular. The toppings are fresh and generously added, and the sauce is seasoned to perfection. Even the crust tastes buttery and delicious. My boyfriend and I have tried their Hawaiian, pepperoni and white pizzas and they’ve all been amazing — really flavorful with lots of cheese! (For the record, I wasn't a big white pizza fan before trying Umberto's, but one bite of theirs and I was hooked!) You also have to try their specialty Chicken Rollatine, which consists of chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto. It's one of the most delicious chicken dishes I've ever had. For dessert, I recommend their homemade cheesecake with ricotta, their tiramisu (it's a little different than most tiramisus I've had, and definitely worth trying), and layered cappuccino. (The cannoli and chocolate cake are also delicious!) As for drinks, I’ve had a few rums and cokes here and they’ve been great (lots of limes!). If you're into beer, you'll want to try their Italian draft, Peroni Nastro Azzurro. It was refreshing and full-bodied without being too filling – the perfect accompaniment for a pizza-and-beer type of lunch. Thank you, Umberto's, for always having delicious food and exceptional service! You're the best!!!
I love this place - my favorite pie - is the Special. We pick up half the time and I am always amazed at how this place operates. They have the place loaded with patrons, they have customers waiting for pickup orders, they have their delivery people coming in and out and they have the food delivery services doing the same thing. Its running on all cylinders , all with great friendly service. Keep it up guys!
Being from NY, we take pizza seriously. Umberto’s makes us feel like we are back at home. We dine in or do take out from umbertos almost weekly. Our favorites include the buffalo chicken pizza, chicken parm, chicken Marsala, Greek salad and mozzarella sticks. They get pretty packed on weekends, but the wait is never terribly long. We highly recommend!
Had family in town visiting and decided to order from here for the first time. They have a wide variety of foods and everyone loved what they got! From the chicken parmigiana sandwich to strombolis and shrimp scampi, everything was so delicious and I can’t wait to order from them again!
Stopped at Umberto’s for the 1st time this afternoon. It wasn’t busy as I got there around 3:15 pm, and found a parking spot right in front of their restaurant. Ordered a draft beer and their Stromboli and ate at the bar. Bartenders Raegan and Joe were friendly, efficient and took great care of me. I had a chance to talk to Joe a bit, when he wasn’t running around the restaurant getting the bar area prepared for his shift. The beer was cold and fresh, and the Stromboli was hot and delicious. Overall a great experience!
Umbertos has always been my number 1 place for Italian food in South Florida. The pizza (especially grandma’s) is the best I’ve ever had, and all of their other dishes are so fresh and delicious. Very important also, is the fact that their prices are not ridiculous and their portions are very generous, something I know everyone cares about in this economy. The service and ambience are all great, crafting the perfect authentic Italian dining experience in all of South Florida, by far.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Umberto's, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a cozy dinner or a celebratory meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcomed throughout our visit. Now, let's talk about the food! The menu is a delightful mix of classic Italian dishes, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The pasta was fresh and al dente, and the sauce had a rich, authentic flavor that transported me straight to Italy. We also tried the brick oven pizza, which was crispy and loaded with fresh ingredients. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the tiramisu, and it did not disappoint! It was light, creamy, and had just the right amount of coffee flavor. Overall, Umberto's exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Italian cuisine in a charming setting. I can’t wait to return and try more of their offerings!
We received a cirtificate as a welcome to the neighborhood in the mail so we decided to use it to try this place out. Super neutral feel to the place. Here for lunch there is great lighting and friendly staff. We ordered the Margherita and fries. Will be back! Look out for the bathroom door though, it closes fast and that handle will get you righr at the hip
After a horrible experience with Anthony's, I decided to go across the street and try here. Unassuming outside but the interior was truly a pleasant surprise. It's set up like an Italian outdoor patio with greenery and cheerful lights and a welcoming feeling. I enjoyed my margarita as well as vodka pasta. It was tasty and a huge portion so much so I had 2 more meals out of my leftovers. I will definitely return soon!
Cute italian restaurant with an old fashion vibe. I was in Lauderdale By The sea in vacation and some local friends suggested it. It looks one of this place you can found in an italian village. The Grandma pizza is outstanding. We also had fried zucchini, garlic rolls, mozzarella sticks and from the specials Calamari Rosetta. All so good. Big portions.
We had the spaghetti with meat sauce and seafood cardinale. Both were delicious.

Favorite Florida pizzeria but Too Far away !!! They need to put some in Aventura location or other South Florida area, they will be Packed !!! I should keep this pizza secret to myself ! ;)
Best family atmosphere and food. The staff is friendly and very professional. Joe behind the bar is a real asset to this establishment.
Visited Umberto's with family. We had a nice time at the bar. They have a great happy hour all day. We enjoyed few drinks and a grandma pizza. The best around. Outstanding also the baked wings with focaccia bread. If you like weird food they have tripe. My friend said that is really good, like her grandma used to make. Try also the Stromboli very good. Love the friendly staff. We felt at home. They also have few tvs if you want to watch a game.
I attended a women's networking luncheon here. The atmosphere was open and airy, even though it was indoors. Our server was very attentive as people came in at different times. I had the lunch portion chicken marsala with a generous side of broccoli. The food was good, and there was enough for leftovers later.
Their side salad with their Italian dressing, Chicken Marsala, spaghetti marinara w/ angel hair pasta and the chicken parmesan were all amazing!!!!
My husband and I had a large pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese pizza from Umberto’s last week and it was DELICIOUS!!! The sauce and crust were perfect; and the sausage wasn't chewy! We will certainly be back very soon! Great job, Umberto’s !
Great place for quality Italian food in Ft. Lauderdale. Service is top notch. When you think of Italian ambiance this is it. If you live in or are visiting Ft. Lauderdale this is a must.
First time here, won't be our last! From the minute you walk in the door until you leave you feel welcomed. The service was just as good as the food, very good. I ordered a meatball calzone which was not on the menu, delicious! Our server was so friendly and personable. If you're looking for some good Italian food, this is a must.

Nice neighborhood spot, huge menu, very accommodating staff. Food is good
It definitely a place to check out. Very friendly staff, food is good, and actually one of the better restaurants I ve been to, here's why, coming from NY area, you get used to the favors, portions, and atmosphere of the area. Umberto's is the closest I found to the NY experience in South Florida. So if you like good food, portions, suggest you check out You won't be disappointed.
We have been going to the Umbertos in Pembroke Pines since the 70. I play golf with Sal, and love the kids Steven, Johnny and Marie. They closed the location 2 yrs ago and it was a surprise to find the brother's location on commercial. All we ever ordered was Pizza. Wow. Same delicious flavor. We will drive from west of 75 to order again and again. Thanks for being as good as what we remember and miss from our past memories.
I have no idea why this place is not allways packed!! The pizza is delicious and consistent and the entrees are solid. I had scungilli which was fantastic and chicken rollatini which was also delicious but could have used a little more sauce, but the server brought some right out. We also ordered a square grandma's pizza which was fantastic!!! Its a verry good and consistent Italian restaurant!!

Great family place to get you off from your Italian craving. Large pizzas are of great size and flavor to share. We also got a cesar salad and a clam pasta (which I thought was the winner)👍🏼 The garlic bread wasn’t that good so I will skip it next time. Overall price , flavor and experience is a good casual place that is worth it.
My hubby and i were on our way to Zuckerellos but decided to give this place a try instead. Pleasant entrance. Hostess sat us immediately and our server was prompt. With the music and ambiance i couldn't help bit feel a little Christmas-y. Very sweet. My hubby had veal pizziaolli & minestrone soup and i order pizza and a ceasar salad. Pizza was excellent but my hubby said the portion of meat and sauce was nothing to write home about. Unfortunately we will not have a return visit. Thank you for having us.

The food was great, but there was an issue with the order. After we voiced our concerns, the original waitress didn’t return, and instead, another staff member stepped in to assist us. This was disappointing service. However, the gentleman who helped us afterward was attentive and very helpful.
I will first like to start off positive, I loved my server shes was very nice and helpful. Excellent service, now i read the reviews on the pizza being really good but I wanted pasta. The sauce I got was the carbonera it was watery and I wasn’t a fan, my server encouraged me to try something else. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars on the food is cause the pink sauce saved them. But the minestrone soup could do without the potatoes, bread was not as soft as I anticipated. But the pink sauce was good!! 👌🏻 I normally don’t give reviews unless it’s excellent or horrible. This was in between…Im giving it a review mainly cause when u send a dish back, management should come out. But they didn’t, and honestly lucky I liked my server so much or the review could have been worse. I don’t think I would come back to this location. The one in Dunedin FL is better even. Thanks.
I'm trying to be fair with this review because I'm used to good NYC pizza and you just can't compare Florida pizza to NYC pizza. Having said that I was a bit disappointed with the pizza here. Not crispy enough and the sauce wasn't good at all.
4/27/2024 Update: Just called to make a reservation (because the last time I came the food and service was amazing, but long wait times). Whoever is managing the phone tonight should be sent home. Horrendous customer service. Rude. Curt. And just hung up on me without a courteous exchange. Changed my rating from 4 stars to 2. Doubt I will go back. Too many options to spend my money supporting abysmal behavior. *********** Original review: Have a Reservation because the wait for walkin is exceedingly long. Server was awesome. Friendly, super helpful and available. 1/2 carafe sangria is such a deal. Pizza was what we came for and it did not disappoint. Definitely putting this place on repeat.
Burnt my pizza, I’ve eaten there a few times so I know the difference between burnt and crispy. The people are nice but the service is just not good. So many Italian restaurants I’m done with this place.
We ordered take-out again, for a family gathering, food was good but the salad had small black bugs crawling around. May 4, 2025. Beware!!! Great food, if you don’t mind LONG BLACK HAIRS in your food, like we had today. The food was delivered and 6 black hairs had to be placed in our salad on purpose.
I’m from Long Island. Wasn’t like Long Island New York. No slices after 3 PM and you could only buy regular slices. If you want a Sicilian, you have to eat a whole pie. That sucks. Maybe put on your website. No slices after three.
Food was below average, lasagna was tasteless, food was season less and flavorless. I wouldn’t come back here. Customer service was decent.
Umbertos just lost a customer. We have ordered from there for years. Tonight we ordered a bunch of food - pizza, lasagna, meatballs. The lasagna was awful. Literally a two inch square covered - and I mean covered - in meat sauce for 15 dollars. We had waited for an hour so my son ate what was there. I called umbertos and asked for some kind of credit but because he had already eaten the small square of pasta they wouldn’t do anything. I posted a pic of the dish so you could see it. I don’t like posting negative reviews but this experience completely rubbed me the wrong way. For 15 dollars they lost a customer that normally spends 50 bucks each time and we average once every two weeks.
I picked up a sandwich today, which was $20 and may have been the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. It was Open faced and almost impossible to eat the tomato on. It was a half inch thick. I live in the area and will never be back. Thank God, the sandwich shop next-door is open
We were initially told the wait would be 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 40. After we ordered, it took another 45 minutes just to receive our drinks and soup. Our main dishes were about to come out while we were still waiting, so we asked them to hold the food, but when it finally arrived, it was cold. We had to get up multiple times to find our waitress, and during our visit, three tables around us walked out mid-meal due to the delays. The food itself was very good, but the service experience was extremely frustrating. I’d recommend it only if you have the patience of a monk.
Umbertos on commercial delivered me a pizza tonight with a COCKROACH inside the BOX! What makes matters worse is the associate who answered the phone told me “it’s never happened” for me to call a third party because the manager was too busy to talk to me. After demanding to speak to the manager on duty “Walter” he got on the phone begrudgingly to tell me he’s busy and that I can call the third party to deal with it. I explained couldn’t believe a restaurant wouldn’t take the accountability of a BUG in their FOOD and I’d be writing my review - his customer service response was “if that’s what makes you happy” DISGUSTING DIRTY PLACE - DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE !

I find some of the 'positive' reviews I have read about Umberto's of Long Island restaurant, on Commercial Blvd, in Fort Lauderdale, suspicious. Equally troubling was reading what appears to be a pattern of the restaurant deflecting, shifting blame, and attacking the credibility of the many patrons who have left negative reviews on different other websites. My personal experience with this restaurant was very disturbing. How this place escaped being on Ch 10's 'Dirty Dining' segment, I'll never know. My utensils were not clean, and the table was sticky. The pizza had a bitter flavor... and I wound up bringing most of it home. Not only was the pizza 'grossly' overpriced with skimpy ingredients and a large gap of crust (which tasted like cardboard)... while at home, I noticed a dead baby roach type bug sandwiched between the cheese and tomatoe sauce in a slice of the remaining pizza! Needless to say, into the garbage it went. I was so disgusted that I contacted the manager-owner 'Daniela' to report the discovery, a blond, scraggly looking woman whom I had seen there prior. Speaking with Daniela was a bigger disappointment and waste of time than patronizing the restaurant! She was very rude and unprofessional. I simply called to politely make them aware of the issue. She responded in a very defensive, argumentative manor and appeared more interested in blaming 'picky customers'. She did not even offer an apology and told me if I didn't like it there, to go find another restaurant! I tried to take the high road, but she appeared to only be concerned with attacking the credibility of negative comments and reviewers. Save your money and use it at another cleaner pizzeria!
I would definitely give this a no star if I could. My family and I were extremely embarrassed by the obnoxious behavior of the manager! We were a party of 20! My niece has a service dog for psychiatric reasons she is 12 years old and we were asked to leave in the most rudest manor. She said dogs were not allowed in there and after explaining to her that the dog was a service animal she said no it’s not and we wouldn’t be able to prove it in court because she was a small dog and we had her in a carry doggie bag. First off we are from out of town, never ate there before and we wanted Italian for Mothers Day and we were rudely asked to leave. So we did and went next door to Zuckerello’s Italian restaurant with the SERVICE DOG ! Food was great and best of all so was the service! I guess they didn’t need the money that bad to throw out a party of 20! Will never go into that place again or recommend it to anyone! Our money was not good enough for those snobs.
I always, always LOVE this place when I come to visit a few times a year. It’s my first call as soon as I come to town, because the food and customer service is always amazing! Tonight, not so much…. Who ever is taking your to-go orders tonight (5/16) is grumpy, short, and basically hung up on me both times I called. I called back, shortly after placing my to-go order to ask if I could add a small side of garlic oil to my order, and he basically told me *NO* and said he would have to start a new order ~ charge me for the small side of oil, plus a new delivery fee…… Really? If it’s that much of an issue, why would he not be willing to throw in a small side of garlic oil? I was willing to pay cash upon delivery, but he was so very rude and basically hung up on me before I finished my sentence… Find someone new to take to go orders, like the sweet women that used to, and let the grumpy guy go……I still LOVE your restaurant and will not let my interaction with your *to-go order guy* ruin my opinion of what I feel like is one of the very best restaurants in all south Florida…… I will be back for my garlic oil, because it’s the most outstanding addition to any meal with you!
Update: You may have my receipt which shows what I should have been charged, but I can show also my credit card statement that shows a $91+ charge. Not sure what happened there, but when I called your business to get resolution I was told to come in when the manager was working. I called my credit card and disputed instead. Thankfully it got resolved. I will not be back. Well I got scammed here. They over charged me above what my receipts shows I paid and tipped by $60 extra. I called and no one was willing to help me. Needless to say I won’t be ordering from here again and will be telling others about this experience. It’s obviously not a surprise that people steal your information and steal your money, but you would think the restaurant would be eager to show customer service and to rectify the matter. Did not happen.
Very dissapointed. Food all arrived luke warm with delivery. Never order again.b
I got a order to go today. I ordered wings a white pizza and six garlic rolls. You called them Buffalo Wings. These wings bar none were the worst I ever had. Im from Buffalo where wings first started. Wings are not sweet. I would be more than happy to teach you what a Buffao WING IS SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE. The garlic rolls were over cooked. The white pizza was respectable 6 out of 10. We usually splurge on Friday. I now have to wait another whole week to eat for a splurge that tastes good. Very sad🥀😥
I hate to give them a one star rating as we look forward to the grandmas. We walked in and seated ourselves as the sign said. And there we sat for 15 minutes and nobody waited on us. So we walked out and went elsewhere to eat. Perhaps they should set you so they know you’re there to eat and patronize them. I’m sure the $80.00 we spent at the other place wound have been appreciated here.
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. ***TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE*** I went for the first time last night to this restaurant. We ordered an array of things; stuffed artichoke, two cups of soup (pasta e fagiola and lentil), and meat ravioli. We asked for the artichoke to come out first (see photo) disgusting presentation. ONE cup of soup came out next, and 25 minutes after I got my cup of soup. But before this, the meat ravioli came out and was not cooked all the way through. I complained, wasn't offered a comp, and the manager never came to the table. I called the next day and the manager on shift refused to assist. I will never be back to this restaurant again. Worst service I ever received. I've made a complaint with the city for served raw, uncooked meat. UPDATE: REFUND RECEIVED. Still won't return and will leave my review posted to forewarn future customers. As you can witness for yourself, with the owner's comment below my post, her attitude towards her customers.
RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: Credit where it's due, like I said about the food... My description of events is 100% accurate, calling your former loyal recurrent customer "dramatic" says a lot about you, personally, whoever you may be, besides either being a liar or a fool for believing a lie someone told you without checking first. Your accusations are irresponsible. At ABSOLUTELY NO MOMENT did I ever say I was going to leave a bad review. I also never said I was unhappy with your policy, I was disappointed with YOUR decision to not open a simple exception to a regular customer like me. I must say, however, that not every manager has enough competence to identify and assess the possible loss of a regular customer (apparently customers don't mean anything, anyway). To end, for you to say you respect MY DECISION to no longer order from you, makes me sick in the stomach, since you guys were the ones who told me I was banned from ordering from there if I cancelled the order. The food is AWESOME. THE CUSTOMER, APPARENTLY, IS WORTH LESS THAN NOTHING. I’ve been ordering from this place for about 2 years—mostly delivery and takeout. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, sometimes ordering twice (for myself and someone else), often 3–4 times a week. A few times, I even got sick from the food but never complained because I figured things happen. Today, however, changed everything. I placed my usual weekend order from work (bill was a little over $50) and intended to pay cash. I was told they don’t accept $50 or $100 bills. I only had $100 bills, so I hesitantly offered my card over the phone, even though I felt uncomfortable with people around me. I tried masking the numbers but something went wrong, and I asked if I could just give my card to the delivery guy instead. The person on the phone said that was fine. About 30 mins later, the same guy called back saying the manager demanded I either pay by card immediately or pay cash—but not with $50s or $100s. I explained again: I couldn’t read my card out loud and couldn’t go out to get change. I asked for an exception—just this once. Two years of loyalty, repeat double orders, generous tips, no complaints, and this is how I get treated? I figured they'd consider it. I was wrong. The food is great—though often overpriced—but the customer apparently means nothing. When I expressed concern about giving my card info out loud again, the manager responded with disbelief, as if I were being paranoid: “Are you saying your coworkers could steal your info?” Then came the real kicker: “Either you pay now or the order gets canceled—and if you cancel, you’ll be banned from ordering here again.” Wow. That’s how loyal customers get treated? So I canceled. Because at that point, how could I trust the food being delivered wouldn’t be tampered with? Here’s the part that really got me: I live walking distance from the place. I work in a standalone building that’s not going anywhere for at least 24 years. I’m known by name by some of the staff. I’ve always paid in full, never asked for special treatment, always tipped well, and supported this business even when things went wrong—and now I’m treated like a potential thief or scammer? Maybe they thought I’d run off with the food. Maybe my $100 bill would’ve been fake. Maybe asking the driver to take my card was such a disruptive favor that it outweighed 2 years of support. I don’t know. What I do know is I’ve paid by phone before with no issue, and this time I didn’t feel safe doing so. That should’ve mattered. I get company policies. I respect them. But when it comes down to “pay up or shut up” with zero regard for who the customer is, that’s just bad business. I’m done ordering from here. I won’t trash the food—it’s great—but someone in management seriously needs to take a class on how to treat customers, especially the ones who helped build their success. TOTAL LACK OF COMPETENCE
The “Alfredo sauce” was not Alfredo sauce. It did not taste good like real Alfredo sauce made of butter, Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream. It tasted like a chemical processed imitation of the real thing.
I ordered a Stromboli from them via their website which linked me to uber eats to complete the delivery. The Stromboli came and it is the size of my hand and there was suppose to be pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and peppers. It was just full of cheese and onions. Did I mention it was tiny? I could have ordered a 16” pizza for the same price and have had plenty of food to share. I thought maybe this would be something I could split with my partner. $30 Stromboli you would imagine would be large like the picture on their website. Nope. When I called the manager was nice, but extremely dismissive and said there was nothing he could do, “essentially too bad so sad.” I’ve been ranting and raving about their pizza and other menu items for years, ordering sometimes twice a week. Tonight they’ve lost a customer. Could not be more disappointed with how this was handled. I would reccomend updating their website food description to “feeds one” or “6” long” or “even smaller than a Calzone,” rather than falsely representing what we all expect from a normal large NY Stromboli. Thanks for nothing Walter.
I’m tired of asking for my pizza well done and getting it barely cooked. Everytime I say I want my pizza well done, extra brown, I want to hear it crackle when I bite into it and I receive it EVERY TIME barely cooked. This picture is not cooked pizza. So now on my break, I am going home to cook it more, when I should’ve just ate at home. This is my 4th time having this problem. If I say I want it extra well done, dark brown. That’s how it should be. Not like this….
Nothing like the Umberto’s in Long Island. Have a legendary name but the pizza is not legendary
A terrible experience that left me and my party of 8 stranded. I called ahead of time to make reservations and clearly stated that a service dog would accompany me. The staff member who took my reservation assured me it would not be a problem numerous times. Well, once I arrived, I was questioned about my 18 lbs service animal, I answered their questions, which went against my human rights, and still was turned away, even though I shared that it was for medical reasons. They embarassed me in front of other patrons and my guests. I have NEVER been turned away and DISCRIMINATED in any place except in this establishment!! Will NEVER see me, my guests or anyone I know. Shame on Umberto's!!
