Wapo Taco is praised for authentic Mexican cuisine, generous portions, and friendly service, especially from Belgica and Brenda. The chimichangas and breakfast menu are highly recommended. Some customers found the steak tacos disappointing and portions small.

Opinions de Wapo Taco Fort Lauderdale
Excellent service! All sorts of food options- breakfasts, lunches, dinners, drink specials, huge menu! Amazing!!!! I loved my breakfast 🥞
Exellent tacos place. Delicious fast. Good service. Very nice place for family or date! Very nice ambiance. Wil come back every years!
Breakfast burrito was delicious!!!! Friendly service, reasonable priced, great quality food.
Let’s start something funny about this place. I was driving and saw one guy moving Wapo Tacos banner, which caught my eyes. So one day, me and my wife talking about tacos place which we never visited since long any during that talk, just this Banner name came in my mind, we immediately rushed to the place and delighted to see. Just to say wonderful place to eat in a very colorful interior. I mean top of the line. I’m also sharing pictures & videos too. You definitely feel vibrant environment with love and smile 😊
Very authentic Mexican food, Tastes just like Mexico! We got the chilaquilas for breakfast and a horchata Prices are just and a very big menu for all your Tastes
Great location, attentive staff, kitchen provides quality food, great prices. Better option for food for beach goers as it’s 2 mins from the beach. Had the carne flautas and they were bomb. If they didn’t miss on that then they can’t really miss on everything else in my opinion. Clean facility & back of house with open face kitchen
This place had really great food and service. Everyone was polite. I would definitely go here again. This was great for a family of five.

Good, but $3 for 3 tortillas is wild.😅
This place had really great food and service. Everyone was polite. I would definitely go here again. This was great for a family of five.
I walked 20 minutes here 3 times in 3 days. I come every time I'm in town for the chimichangas, but returned each morning for the new breakfast menu! So good!
Super scrumptious meal! Very filling and satisfying. Service was perfect. I ordered a beef bowl. The price was fair. The guac was worth the $2.50. I had a delightful chipotle mayo hot sauce with it. The free chips at the beginning were a pleasant surprise. There is a 3.5% fee to use your card so bring cash. I wouldn't say it's enough to feed two, but it was definitely a healthy and delicious meal. My colleague had the chicken bowl and shared that the chicken was perfectly crispy. Overall, really great eats with great customer service.
First time here. Walked in @ 12:30 and was greeted immediately. I was the only customer. We exchanged pleasantries and I ordere the lunch chicken bowl for 9$. Food arrived 1 minutes after I had gone to the restroom. Total for the bill is $12.xx including tax and tip. The chicken bowl is good. More chicken than I would get at a chipotle. I didnt want to waste food so I stuffed myself and only finished 3/4 of the bowl, had only 5 nachos chips with salsa. Can definitely feed 2.
This place is amazing. I ordered the nachos with meat which were super big. They were only $12 which was pretty cheap because of there size. The employees were super nice to our family and gave us samples of there rice with milk and there mango con Chile. The employees were super respectful. I give this place a 10/10
The food has a fresh authentic taste to it. I like that you can watch you food being prepared since the kitchen is in the center of the restaurant behind the bar. They give you fresh tortilla chips with Pico De Gallo when you come in. I have nothing negative to say about this place. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who's hungry and in the area.
Every time I come here I wonder why their rating isn't higher. Everything I've had has been really good. The enchiladas are the best I've ever had. The salsas are fresh and delicious. The tacos are great.
The food felt like it was freshly made and with care. We received prompt and attentive service, with an offer of homemade hot sauces since we like to take food a little spicy. Menu was ample with brunch and lunch/dinner options. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food
Awesome little breakfast spot. Great food and super-friendly service. We were in town for the Miami Open and walked here from our Airbnb. Glad we did.
Food was delicious. Service great, and a fun casual place. Shrimp tacos were fresh, and really enjoyable. A perfect easy dinner spot if you’re tired of having to get dressed up or spend out the wazoo.
I like to get the lunch special at places. This places didn't disappoint. Ate well, the soda was a bit pricey but it's no different than the other places around. (Lunch special includes drink) Good salsa selection for the most part. I like the green because I like green tomatoes. Got carnitas. Decor, ambiance and service is what sold me on the place.
My mother and I came to eat here yesterday. My mother had a steak bowl and I had a steak quesadilla w/yellow rice and refried beans also a mandarin Jarritos. They have a lot on their menu. They have three sauces and they were so good!! They have a mild medium and hot option for the sauces. Everything was absolutely delicious, even the chips and salsa! The waiter/cook was so nice and attentive. I feel terrible I didn’t get his name but I would definitely recommend and go back.
LOVE their tacos, and the service was amazing!! taco tuesday was so affordable and their tacos soo so good! we live in hallandale area and def recommend this place’s
The service and food at wapo taco is superior. The beef bowl was amazing! I would recommend this to anyone on vacation for low prices and an amazing experience!
Chicken bowl for 10 dollars is some of the healthiest and freshest food I have had. See you everyday for lunch I guess. Couldn’t be happier, value for money and superior quality. Staff super friendly and relaxed
They play Christmas music. Servers are the best I’ve experienced in the area. Price is affordable yet food is fresh & tasty. It’s not crowded so it’s a nice place to eat w your pups outside.
Got the chicken bowl for 10$ during their happy hours special form 11-3. Super nice server, atmosphere was relaxing, and food was ready in 5 minutes. Also, great portion size for the price, would 100% reccomend if you're looking for a healthier meal that isn't expensive and fills you up.
Walked in off the street and was greeted by a friendly woman. We had a few questions about the menu, as we can only eat vegan. The lady was helpful and answered our questions after clarifying with the kitchen. We ordered the hard and soft veggie tacos, without cheese, and they were amazing. Loved the baked beans and rice, too. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes. Thanks for accommodating!
I had a great experience! The staff is incredibly kind and efficient, making the whole process smooth and pleasant. The service is fast, and I was really impressed by how quickly everything was taken care of. The prices are very reasonable, and the deals they offer are definitely worth it.
Small taco joint. The tacos here are delicious and the service is great. I recommend the taco plate combo. The only downside is the drink selection is not good they only serve Pepsi products and bottled drinks I recommend BYOD.
Food was delicious, staff kind and courteous.
We loveeeee this place! We were in hallandale for 10 days and i think weve been there at least 5-6 times! The waiter is just soooooo nice with all our family. Food is deliciouuuuuus & drinks are good and not too expensive. For sure we will be back :)

Very solid stuff. Cooking oil for fajitas should be swapped to higher smoke-point oil, and reserved chicken meat perhaps could benefit from a different cooking process. But that's nitpicking. If you show up here, you will be very impressed. Overall, this was truly excellent local place; ambiance, staff. But beyond "local", their model is extremely expandable....and should be
I’m glad I gave this place a try and didn’t pay attention to ratings. Me and my husband came here for lunch. I got fish tacos and he got a wapo bowl. $5.99 margaritas and the customer service was awesome belgica was very polite and attentive. Good food means a lot when you’re having a bad day.
Perfect 👌 fast-casual kinda place with drinks- very small area for dining but that’s fine! We had tacos (authentic), beans and rice for the kids, and a quesadilla. For fast casual Mexican, look no further! Nothing super fancy, but super delicious anyway!
Great customer service, food is super authentic Mexican cuisine! Great prices , clean and the atmosphere is super! I highly recommend Wapos especially if you like Mexican food ! 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The place was very clean love the music. The site and the view was very nice and also the cook was very sweet and the food came out perfect

This authentic restaurant offers a unique, fun and great food experience. There are many food choices and some terrific deals to be had. We had three tacos and a beer for only $11 and it was excellent. If you’re looking for a quick and great meal I’d recommend this restaurant. There is also plenty of free parking.
The place is pretty small, but they offer beer to go along with the food. To start I ordered an horchata, and tacos cochinto, and carnitas. The server brought mixed tortilla chips and 3 different dips for them. They were very good. When I got the tacos I was a bit disappointed with the portion size for the price, 3 would've been more reasonable than 2. This was the only negative I found about this place. Other than that, the tacos were very close to authentic. They are definitely the best I've had in the area.

Been here 3 times. Service was great. It's a place to grab a quick bite or have a drink and some tacos. Don't expect an elegant Mexican restaurant. Everything is cooked fresh right in front of you (if you're sitting at the bar). Nice drink specials. Limited seating inside. Again this is quick bite and go type of place.
Honestly, I went to check them out because of the Lunch Special I saw on their website. I was originally going to order off of Uber Eats but when I saw the price is for $8.99 which brings three tacos w/ rice and beans. I thought to myself oh, this is a nice deal Ima check them out! Also, the restaurant isn't too far from my job. The atmosphere was nice, colorful decoration. When I arrived they had just opened up so it was quiet. The employees were nice and attentive. The food was good I enjoyed the tacos I will return. Especially on a Taco Tuesday when the tacos are $1.50 from what I was told. I can say I felt my taco needs were fulfilled 🤤
The place has a nice atmosphere. The food was good and well seasoned. It's not an easy to find place, but if you do go, get the burrito, I did. Ironically it's next to a gym. It must suck to feast on vegan tree branches all day, and run past a good restaurant daily.
The food was good but very overpriced. Service was great because we had a young guy named junior and he was amazing even after 2 weeks of starting. Very friendly and amazing personality. I will return but come on 10 bucks for 2 tacos!! Home made tortillas though 😍🤩😍🤩😍
Js a little expensive but the food and service is good
Brilliant Authentic Mexican food! As soon as you are seated, you will be greeted and have 3 different free salsas to dip your chips in. If you asked for my favorite, I'd have to go with the salsa verde which pairs really nice with the beer selections they have (modello, corona, dos equis) which they serve ice cold! As for the tacos I only have tried the pastor tacos which I thought were excellent. The tortilla is made fresh, the seasonings used are just perfect and what I really liked about the pastor is that it includes bits of pineapple which goes really well with the taco as a whole.
The steak tacos are shredded beef. When I think of these style tacos I love Carne Asada made fresh to order. The meat tasted like it had been cooked in the morning and reheated. The service was ok, not very attentive.
This was first time at Wapo Taco and definitely my first time trying Tex-Mex food. I learned about the restaurant by their advertisement on Instagram, and decided to check it out since I was in the Hallandale Beach area. There's a menu posted by the entrance so you can look it over and know what you want before entering. The cost for the food is a bit pricey, ranging from $12-$25. For those ptices; the meals better come with a drink, an appetizer, and dessert...okay. There are soups, salads, burritos/chimichangas, quesadillas, fajitas, tacos (soft/hard), Wapo plate/bowl, beer & wine, hot & cold beverages, etc. Inside the restaurant was quiet and colorful with plenty of seating for the customers. I greeted a female employee the counter and placed my order of the chimichanga de carne to go. It was prepared very quickly...a big portion of tender steak with rice wrapped in a soft tortilla; and topped with sour cream, shredded lettuce, and diced tomato...served with some chips & homemade salsa. It was pretty good. Eventually I will return to try something else...whenever I feel like indulging in Tex-Mex food.

The ambiance is cute. Margaritas are ok, made by the batch in a commercial frozen drink machine. However, they are packed with[koik plenty of well tequila. The food was bland and not exciting. The saving grace is the super friendly and efficient staff (hence the third star). Food came out quickly and you can see it prepared if you are seated at the "bar".
Food was pretty good, not exceptional. Service was very so-so. Not friendly, seemed put out by our pick up (though we left a good tip ahead of time); they mislabeled orders (labeled a Carne Burrito a Pollo Burrito), and slopped in the beans with the rice. Burritos seemed overpriced to the size (15.00 for a Burrito about the size of a big man's fist). May try other places before this one again.
In 1 year this place has changed. While the menu is better than last year, it seems the quality has deminished a bit. The chips have been stale at times and the meats a little dry. And I wonder why the staff has changed since last year, not one remains--hmm. This was my post from a year ago: I did not plan to eat here, but I'm sure glad that I did. Amazing layout, the kitchen is surrounded by a huge counter so that they cook and prepare everything in front of your eyes. Best of all, the tacos are homemade and the best in South Florida.
This place was ok. I wanted tacos after the beach and found this place near by. I ordered carne asada tacos which came as an order of 3 with a small side of rice and beans . The service was decent nothing to brag or complain about. And the cost was just a little more than what I'd usually pay for 3 tacos . But all in all there's nothing that stands out about this place
I lived in Mexico City growing up and this was the closest place to the tacos I would eat there. I had not been here since before the start of the pandemic. They’ve changed the menu and it seems more Tex-mex than authentic Mexican. They even have dishes that aren’t Mexican or Tex-mex like tequeños that are Venezuelan. The quality of the food has dived significantly. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like old El Paso. My mother ordered guac and it was just puréed avocado with no flavor. The tacos ordered were flavorless. The carnitas were incredibly dry and the pastor had no resemblance to what their pastor used to be. I am really hurt that a place I used to love going to had turned into the polar opposite of what it was. The waiter was rude and in a rush. We felt we were kicked out of the place. We will definitely not be returning there.
no no and no. I had ordered the skirt steak plate. it was inedible. the "Street corn" for 10 or 12 bucks was regular boiled small pieces of corn with mayo and cheese sloppily throw on top. nothing special. bad food and overpriced. the service was good. it was take out so unfortunately I saw this once I got home. not going back again. no way. I literally did not eat the steak. I felt horrible about it. it was inedible and not how it should be served
To go order - $11.24 for 3 hard shell tacos nothing else. I should have known something was off once I opened the bag and the smell alone made me gag. Halfway filled with dried out pork and greasy onions. Hands down the worst taco's ever. Had one bite and choked on the dry meet. I've traveled full time for years and have experienced food from all over....this was terrible
Definitely should have read the reviews before coming! My tacos were disgusting , I had “pastor and steak “ nooo favor at all. Not worth $19, I’ll never come here again. Tacos are so simple, just season the meat. I’m so disappointed and the place smells horrible to say the least, like they defrosted the freezer. Wait of time

Worst tacos ever! We decided to give this place a try since we were nearby. We ordered tacos al pastor, and minutes later, the tacos appeared at the table, huge tasteless chunks of pork full of fat, or let me rephrase, huge chunks of pork fat as if you were putting pieces of lard in your mouth with every bite. In addition to this, salsas were extremely cold, and so were the rice and beans. Not to mention that an 18% tip was included in the check; I wonder If this is a regular practice or if we were just forced to. No, I do not recommend this place. It is a complete disgrace to Mexican Food!
I used to love this place when I first moved to the area. Then this location closed for a period of time and when they reopened, the quality of food and service had dropped tremendously. I gave it another chance tonight and I regret doing so. Our server was extremely rude and the food had no flavor and did not taste fresh. I don’t mind spending money on good food but their prices are way too steep for their terrible quality. I definitely DO NOT recommend this place.
This place just opened back up, and I was so excited going back. Don’t get confused; this is not Wapo Taco! The food is not what it was before they closed several months ago. The food used to be Mexican, flavorful and prepared correctly— not anymore. I think they have taken every shortcut possible choosing ingredients and salsas and it shows. Mexican food requires time to prepare. From the guacamole to the beans to the tacos themselves, it is no where close to what it used to be, let alone authentic Mexican food. My advice would be to find and hire the staff that was working this place before and reinstate the old menu and ingredients. If the restaurant was struggling before, this will surly not cut it. As hard as it is, I’m finally laying this one to rest.
What a mistake eating here! The guacamole was not fresh it tasted like cheap supermarket pre made. The chips were reheated and stale. The burrito was not good and they charge extra for every little item. They are extremely overpriced and expensive! Never again!
I normally don't write reviews, but I have to say this place is the disgrace of Mexican food, I'm sorry for my vocabulary, not only the salad I ordered was bad , it said it comes with grill beef the meet was shredded not even cut very see the meet, I pay $10.00 for small bowl of lettuce and chop bacon , the smallest bottle of pellegrino water was $4.49 to priced for a fast food restaurant. I will never eat there again
First off let me say that I trusted the reviews I seen and decided to give this place a try. I’m not sure if it was an off night or what but the fish tacos tasted like freezer brand fish, fish wasn’t seasoned , dry as well. The actual tacos were soggy and falling apart …Rice was hard beans were pretty good. Burrito was pretty good 8/10 but wouldn’t stop here to eat again…
Not good. Wont be back. It even started wrong. Got our drinks wrong and they were slow. The place only has 5 tables and only table there. We ordered 3 appetizers. The guac seemed like it had been frozen and rubbery. The corn tortillas were stale. The queso fundido had zero flavor. Was very chewy. The street corn was soggy and cheese on it was not good. I think they don't want to be there, they never even asked us if we wanted a meal. Basically after appetizers that we didn't eat we got the bill (54 bucks) and went to another restaurant for food. It was just bad.
I got the three soft steak tacos with rice and beans. It is really bad. No lettuce and tomato. no flavor.$17 is overpriced the Staff friendly but the food's not good.
I am not one who likes to give negative reviews. I tend to eat at local , not chain, restaurants when ever possible and try to look at all of the good thinks they do. Wapo Taco went out of their way to make our lunch a massive disappointment. It started good until the food was brought. The 3 taco meal that was very pricey was just 3 tacos served on the tiny 4 inch shells. To make maters worse the majority of the filling was onions and pineapple with a minimum of pastor meat. The 4 of us ordered one taco plate per couple to be split but when the order arrived there was 3 orders. After asking the waiter why we had an extra 3 tacos he said it was part of the family plate. Then the check came and we where charged for 3 taco meals and had an 18% tip added to the total. When leaving i noticed a lock box on the door. Maybe there lease is up and they are just trying to maximize there profits before they have to vacate. Please to not let this establishment ruin your day and just keep on walking by.
The waitress is too busy in her phone, the menu doesn't reflect what you actually getting. The waitress argue with customer next to me about salsa& chips not being served for free since today. I think management need to re-evaluate the importance of your few customers. Good luck.
Ordered 2 different tacos and 2 Jaritos sodas to go. Total was $46. The tacos were 3 soft tacos that are melted together, don’t taste great at all and are very plain ingredients. Any random food truck serves better tacos for a couple bucks.
Six years ago, my husband and discovered Wapo Taco and used to love everything about it, decor included. . Even though the service was rather uneven depending on the days, the food was delicious, especially the shrimp tacos and the chicken al pastor. And then the service became worse and worse, the food became not as good as before: tiny shrimp, dry and burned chicken, nothing enticing at all anymore. Then they closed for an extended period of time and after they reopened, we went there one last time. The service, the wait and the food were absolutely not what we used to know. What a shame this place has let itself go. Every time we have friends and family come to town and they want to go explore on their own, we make sure to tell them « do not go to Wapo Taco. ».
Food was ok, but the worst service ever! The same owner was so busy and she didn’t even want to help me. This has been the worst service possible! There is no way in the world I will ever come back here! Typical of South Florida! Don’t waste your time and money. You will have to wait more than one hour to get two tacos. It’s complete NOT WORTHY! I don’t understand why they open business if they are so bitter and unhappy. They will make humankind a favor if they are out of our sight!
Updated review. Went back after two years and the place was filthy. Should have took that as a sign to leave immediately. Filthy tables. Greasy dirty food splattered menus. Silverware was greasy to the touch. Food was terrible. Waiter barely spoke English and misunderstood my requests. You couldn't pay me to go back here. Shocked at how bad this restaurant sunk in quality.
We were here 2 years ago and my wife decided to try it once again since it was still in business, therefore suggesting it must be OK. WRONG! Tacos were tasteless, small lacking any type of sauce and flavor. Very disappointing. Our granddaughter ordered chips and salsa. A take out container with colored nacho chips with a small container of that fake cheese and a smaller container of salsa. $9.00. No thought went into any of this food preparation. Thankfully the rest of our party ate right next door at Burgerfi where we enjoyed a great meal. How in this day and age does an establishment remain in business with such poor product and why are they not learning from all of the poor reviews? Beyond Reason!
Have no idea what made me to go there. Was passing by, was in a mood to try something new. No one was greeting us and we sat at at the bar. The lady who was taking the order was neutral. No attention, just taking the notes. The cooking guy was not wearing a mask. I saw, that there is a coffee in their menu that was misspelled. "Expesso". That was funny, and I showed her that. 5 minutes later the lady gave me a coffee. I said that I didn't order it, I just showed that they have Espresso misspelled. She took the coffee and smashed it into the garbage. Glass of water that we got had plastic straws, disregarding that city of Hallandale proudly banned them 2 years ago. Another detail of ignorance. The food was okay, nothing extraordinary, just quesadilla with steak, and it came out around 50$. Also, the tip where included in the check. I hate that. I didn't get any attention, I didn't order anything that was exotic or extraordinary. And tips? What for? I paid, but will never go there again. Period. Gave 2 stars, because 1 is for "horrible" experience, and 2 is just "way below the expectation".
If you like WET quesadilla with canned mixed vegetables and cheap meat this is the place for you. I never had anything that tasted like this they need to be ashamed for serving something like this to people. I’m actually mad I didn’t just go to burgerfi next door but I LOVE tacos. YUCK. Highly UNRECOMMENDED
The carne asado taco was so dry and tasted so plain no sour cream eww
Where do I begin... this place is very over priced. I ordered the 3 Pollo Asada Tacos and this is what I got. I must have showed up before closing. I got beans water for beans. Absolutely no beans in there. I really should have returned it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Hopefully they’ll find it within themselves to close their doors and stop robbing people. Complete garbage!
Worst experience ever. Food was no good at all. The nachos only had a thin layer of beans on the plate, the cheese looks like the one bought in a can. It said it had gad pico de gallo but can only see couple of pieces of tomatoes and onions. The pork (carnitas) in the burrito was dried and with no flavor and the cheese was not melted; it was cold. Regarding the service, the server only ask is everything was ok only 2 times and didn’t ask if any beverage refills wanted. The food was no good for our stomach. It gave us reflux and makes us vomit. Worst food place ever. DID NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL unless you want to throw away your money.
An 18 dollar burrito should at least have some meat in it. This place used to be better. Great service, horrible food.
Food was good. Portions were extremely small…toddler sized!!! They didn’t inform us that gratuity was included, so we tipped on the amount that included the tip. Then…..later, we got an alert that another $5 tip was added to card.
