We wanted to have a team lunch, and one of my co-workers chose this Peruvian restaurant. It turned out to be the perfect choice. In the Fountain Valley area, especially around lunchtime, good restaurants are often packed with office crowds and long lines. To our surprise, this place was calm, spotless, and well-organized, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Marcella, was wonderful ,friendly, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. She guided us through the menu, pointing out their signature dishes marked with a little goat symbol. Naturally, we decided to try them all. I ordered the paella with mussels and shrimp, and it was fantastic ,full of flavor and perfectly cooked seafood. My co-workers loved their dishes just as much. They also served bread with butter as a starter. I skipped it to stick to my diet, but it looked fresh and tempting. Everything went smoothly ,thanks to Marcella, we were able to order, enjoy our meal, and be out within an hour. Overall, it was a delicious and seamless dining experience, and a hidden gem for anyone looking for great Peruvian food without the lunchtime chaos.

First time trying Peruvian food! I visited INKA CANTINA* and was so impressed—the restaurant is spotless, beautifully decorated, and has such a welcoming vibe. We tried one of their specialties, Arroz con Mariscos, and it was absolutely delicious! The Peruvian-style dish is so unique and flavorful—perfect for seafood lovers. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

This long-awaited culinary experience has exceeded expectations, with each chicken dish proving to be delectable. The two dishes featured in the photograph stand out as my personal favorites. The proprietor and her mother are exceptionally gracious individuals.

Empanadas were outstanding- an absolute must. Hearty comforting carb heavy food in booth seating. Flavor was nice, everything was cooked well. I assume it's wasn't very busy probably the price is a bit high. I would recommend for them to do lunch specials to increase traffic.

This place is very very good, owned my mother and daughter, the food is fresh and very tasty. The green Ahi sauce can be very spicy but we love it. The service may not be quick but they are very good and personable. There may be a language barrier but should not be a problem. The food quality and tastes make up for everything else. I highly recommend this place!

Amazing. The food is delicious. Definitely will come again. The plates that have the lamb on the side are their specialty plates. Also, they have a drink that very tasty. It’s called the Pisco sour

I crave this place like I can't even explain. Mainly for that green spicy sauce!!! Oh and aguadito de pollo soup. Yum!!! I could drink it out of that condiment container. So good!!! Never had a bad meal here. Arroz con pollo, cabrito norteno, chupe de camarones, alfajorea cookies, all delicious. Decided to be adventurous yesterday and try some new stuff. Again it did not disappoint. I love this little place. My husband loved the chaufa de mariscos, the seafood was super fresh! The papa rellena was also delicious. And we were both so happy with the cocktails, pisco sours. So yummy!

Really enjoyed the atmosphere in here, and the food was delicious. I devoured my plate before I got a chance to take a photo, but I was slowed down enough when it came to dessert. (pictured: a Cantina's Crepe, a friend banana with caramel in a crepe topped with walnuts and chocolate, paired with lucuma ice cream). Quick and friendly service as well. :)

We love Inka Cantina and don't go often enough. A while back we had a party of 28 and the staff/owner were perfect. Everyone was happy. Recently we had a party of 12, four kids included. They put in the kids orders first as they knew the kids were hungry. The food hit the spot. So yummy!

The best peruvian food I've ever had in California. Incredibly nice staff and great service. The empanadas are to die for. I always get parihuela and theirs is a full bodied rich broth... I love it. The Lomo saltado gravy makes you want to lick the plate. I have to drive from LA just to come here and will do it again... Soon.

The staff here are amazing. The food here is rich and delicious. The lomo and pollo saltado is flavorful. Their green sauce is garlic rich and spicy. The muscles are superb, just amazing. The flan is good and the alphajores are incredible. My wife and family travel here from GG often to get the best Peruvian in OC.

The green sauce is fantastic. When I went we both had the mixto seafood dish. There was not a piece of anything left on our plates but shells.

Best Peruvian food I've had since Peru. So good. They have everything you could want except pollo la brasa. But every other Peruvian place specializes in it so that is no big deal. They have anticuchos with actual beef heart and their papa rellena was awesome. ~$9 apps and ~$13-$18 entrees, so not cheap but not super expensive. Portions were a good size too. Will come back

B

Wow! The Parihuela seafood soup and Arroz con Mariscos were fantastic, almost like in Lima, Perú. Then I tried the Cabrito Norteño, oh my gosh!!! I'm a gringo that enjoys eating and this was absolutely great.

2nd time eating here. This time was for a party of 18. I think we overwhelmed the kitchen, lol, so it wasn't the fastest vs the first time with just two of us. Regardless, both times i have really loved the food.

There is a wide variety of food, all of which are excellent! Every dish is packed with a lot of flavor. The service wonderful, I haven't had to wait very long for my food to come out, and the servers will come by pretty often to check on you to make sure your drinks are topped off, get you anymore bread and refill you green sauce (that stuff is the best!).

Amazing food and service! First time trying Peruvian food, and it was flavorful and delicious. You get your money's worth, both quality and quantity wise, and the staff made me feel like I was at my grandma's house

I forget the name of the dish but was similar to a chicken pesto. So damn good. I'll be back next time I am in the area. The lady's are comical. They had me laughing the whole time. Good service and the food was fresh and delicious.

This place is excellent. I had the arroz con mariscos (seafood with rice) and it was perfect. Others in my party had the lomo saltado and the pollo apanado and they said it was great too. Even the chicken tenders the kids had were very good. I was a little apprehensive because it almost seemed like the reviews were fixed (because they are all positive)...but I learned they are all true. I almost forgot to mention the staff... They were all more than welcoming. I definitely recommend that you try this place.

Fabulous food, amazing service and friendly waitresses. The restaurant is very cozy, and is beautifully decorated with paintings and lights. You feel like you're at a very nice mansion in Peru, getting served by your family. Love it, and I'll come back often! Great for dates

The entire staff is friendly and helpful, the food is authentic and delicious. My favorite in the Lomo Saltado with the fries and little crispy and the meat medium rare. Top everything with the spicy green sauce and your mouth and belly are in for a real treat.

OK this way here for sure is my new favorite takeout spot. I had the Pescado à lo macho, and it was exactly like the time that I was in Peru. I will definitely be ordering here again

Definitely will be back ASAP. The Peruvian maracuya drink is amazing and refreshing (passion fruit with alcohol and cinnamon foam). I ordered the chicken with rice and beans and yucca. It's absolutely delightful. Customer service here is awesome. The waiters & waitresses are super personable and friendly. They speak English and Spanish. It is quaint but the ambiance makes you believe you're in a 5 michelin star restaraunt. The lighting is romantic. Definitely a good spot to take a date you're trying to impress without breaking the bank. I treasure places like this. Good food and drink is my world.I can't wait to come back.

This place is awesome. Every Peruvian restaurant I have visited has it's own distinctive flavor and seasoning. The food here is super good and not too pricey. I love their customer service and their friendlines. I have been three times to this restaurant since I found it via Yelp three weeks ago. Although I live in Long Beach, I don't mind the drive south to have some Lomo Saltado or some Chaufa de Pollo. Everything is so good... and thei Aji, super good.

The service is warm and friendly and the food is delicious! I regularly order the Cantina lomo saltado, which uses ribeye steak. On my most recent visit I tried the mariscos saltado, which substituted fish, calamari and shrimp for the beef. It was also very good. They also have wonderful empanadas.

R

Great food. Great service. Very happy with my order of Escabeche de Pollo. It was also my husband's first time at the place so the server gave him a free cup of Aguadito de Pollo. It was really good. We'll be coming back again.

Feel like home! Service is exeptional. They have a great variety of plates! Imcluding sea food. No too crowded. Most of the tables have a sanitizer bottle for customer to use, the use of mask is a requirement to enter here, no lines to get a table. I will recomend this place

First time visiting and we’ll be coming back for sure. We started off with the calamari that we perfectly fried. It came with some citrus onion tomato salsa that was the perfect side to it. The two entrees we ordered were just as good (Tallarine verde & marisco rice). The marisco rice we particularly fresh and delicious. The service was also great! Allan was very attentive and provided excellent recommendations !

Pros:  Amazing service, atmosphere, wide selection of food. Cons:  wish they had salchipapas I was quickly seated by a friendly member of staff who made me feel really welcome. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and overall, the food and prices were good. The only slight complaint was that they didn’t have salchipapas, I will definitely come back if I am in the area.

Lovely and friendly servers, and the food was to die for. Everything was cooked so well, fresh ingredients, best meal we’ve had in a while, as we eat out often. Will be coming by back. Got the Cabrito Norteño/lamb stew with rice, fish ceviche, and the pollo arroz, DELICIOUS!

A
A.J. Bordadora

Cabrito Norteno was awesome! Lamb was tender and flavorful. Their green hot sauce is spicy and delicious. The calamari appetizer the group shared was cooked great. Crispy and not over done so it was still tender and delicate pm the inside. Our host and server was funny and helpful!

This place is an easy stop in for some delicious Peruvian food.I love their saltado and the pesto dish. I normally only ever get the saltado but i recently branched out and tried their pesto spaghetti dish I had wondered about for awhile and I was not disappointed. The chicken was tender, super flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce was to die for. It was so good I had to fight my husband off of the leftovers. The bread and sauce here is also always fresh and tasty, just make sure you don't fill up on it!

This was a very nice place. The waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Loma Saltado, of course, but it was only alright to me. I mean, it was good, but most of the fries were crunchy and the flavor wasn't as hearty as I'm used to. However, if I'm ever back in the area, I may consider coming back. I have to say, I much rather prefer Misky Misky in West Covina. There is usually always a wait there, but well worth it.

We were going to go to the place nextdoor, but wanted table service and this place was so inviting. Menu is extensive so took a while to decide. We got the calamari while figuring things out. So good. When the dishes came they were well plated, but they never took the empty calamari plate. My husband had a plate of pesto linguine with a breaded chicken. I had a beef plate with green beans and mashed potatoes. Both dishes were wonderful. Mashed potatoes were. Off the hook. Dessert menu was diverse enough. I wanted the special ice cream, since they didn't have enough for the dish they gave me a taste free of charge as a gesture. It was a great experience, but I am not sure I would choose it over my next restaurant roll of the dice.

The food was ok. The disappointment started with the Chicha morada drink. I was told that it was home made but unfortunately mine was water down. The service was definitely great the young ladies working were very attentive and always with a smile.

Very good lomo saltado and tiradito. Causa rellena was not made with papa amarillo and had way too much black pepper. Excellent decor and service. Extremely clean. Very good helado de lucuma.

I think they are very similar to Inka Mama but the dishes are more dry than Inka Mama.

D

They have plenty of dishes to try here. Their green sauce is to die for when you dip it with bread or even just put some on your entree. Their ceviche is a must try. Their house red sauce is good, nothing out of the ordinary. Very generous with their portion

R
Rafael Bustamante

We ate at Inka Cantina and our waitress was Daisy, she was very attentive and on top of all the orders we were a group of 7 and everyone was very satisfied with her service and the food. The tiradito was good, and the Cordero was delicious, the arroz chaufa was great, other plates we had was the choros a la chalaca, asado de la abuela, chicharrón de mariscos entre otros, everything was done good, the lucuma ice cream, the chicha, la maracuya, el flan... we had a great time... the service was excellent...

R
Ryan Horton

Flaky empanada crusts with flavorful fillings (tried beef & chicken). Arroz con Mariscos was very good. The kids "Cantina style" chicken tenders were excellent - thinner cuts, not deep-fried, and well-seasoned rather than heavily breaded. Service was leisurely, but relatively attentive.

E
Edward K_2010

Solid Peruvian spot. Relatives of Inka Mama in Aliso Viejo/,foothill ranch. Good food with relatively small portions (or less meat lots of fries), a bit stingy on green sauce despite multiple requests. Bought menu prices instead of lunch soecial since I did take out . Dishes range from $20-25. Lomo saltada is ok.

J
Jovana

I took my inlaws there since my favorite Peruvian restaurant in OC was closed that Monday. Anyway, we asked for a portion of empanadas to be brought asap for my small children while we were deciding what to order, unfortunately our first server forgot to put that order and of course my kids were basically starving and cranky while waiting for them. Our food order arrived before the empanadas and when requested about the them they took 10 more minutes to bring them to our table. The empanadas were ice cold in the middle and hot in some parts. YES, apparently they just heated them up in the microwave and that took a very long time to get to our table. Anyway, I sent back the empanadas and got a new portion which were all oily and not tasty at all. The Arroz con Mariscos we ordered was also very dried and didn't had too much flavor, same with the Asado de la Abuela, the mash potatoes were too buttery and the vainitas con pollo was too garlicky. I might have enjoyed at least the ambiance of the restaurant which was actually not too bad but the service and food ruined my dinner that evening. Our second server discounted the empanadas from our bill and gave us a box of alfajores for the inconvenience but still I don't think the experience there was what I was expecting to have. P.S. Yes, we left a tip for the waitress regardless of the experience and food (just if you are wondering)

Cozy sized restaurant. Good service. This was the first time I had eaten Peruvian food so I don't have anything to compare it to but it was pretty good. Especially the soup. #LOCALGUIDES #womenwhoguide #letsguide #googleguides #inkacantina

My love for peruvian food has largely associated with my love for aji sauce. I like it spicy and that kick you get from dipping into aji sauce but damn. .this aji sauce is at different level of spiciness. One dip of this sauce will make your taste bud go all numb. It was bit too spicy for me to really enjoy any other taste. I ordered my usual arroz con pollo. The chicken was flavorful and rice was good also.

Pretty ok. Well spiced, flavorful but the meat didn’t feel like the highest quality and was a bit dry, and the veggies definitely looked like the kind you get at the grocery store frozen in a bag. Probably wouldn’t eat there again.

The Cabrito Norteño was good, the Picante de carne was bad, tough beef and the taste was flat, don’t order this dish. The tiny alfajores very expensive. The food is overpriced, not worthy.

Nice cauzy place, friendly seevice, really clean. Love it, but food flavor and presentation need a plus for this kind of prices, but I will be definitely back

As a Peruvian, I do not recommend this place. But for others, there’s options that are decent.

This review is from a to go order, so can’t comment on the service or ambiance. The food is tremendously underwhelming in flavor. The huancaina sauce is super watered down and basically has no cheese flavor at all. The empanadas taste like the beef is boiled and the mojo is just straight up spicy with no flavor

Bad experience, we waited more than 40 minutes and our order was not complete.

The quality of food has gone down since I was last here a few years ago. It was extremely salty, and the tradional green Aji Verde sauce had the consistency of water. Nevertheless, the staff was still very pleasant.

I used to enjoy coming here, until tonight. As a Peruvian-American, I always do my best to support Peruvian businesses. However, I will no longer support Inka Cantina. I ordered Vainitas con Carne. In their menu, they state they can substitute white rice for green spaghetti. I was informed they do not substitute rice. I explained to the staff that on their website and their menu (I showed the staff member both) clearly states that you can substitute rice with green spaghetti. The restaurant was unwilling to do so and when I asked why, I was given no explanation. This tells me two things. Either Inka Cantina is too lazy/cheap to Update their menus, or don’t care about their customers.

We recently visited Inka Cantina after reading the reviews; it was a big disappointment. 1st, we had to ask for bread; otherwise, they would not bring it. After a long wait, they brought the “Causa” drenched in mayo, had very little chicken, and they added too many green peas to make up for the chicken. As Peruvians, we know authentic food. The “Lomo Saltado” was ok, provided one could find enough beef to eat it. At least the French fries were freshly made. The “Escabeche de Pescado” was not a Peruvian recipe; we were not sure what that was. But we felt embarrassed to return it since we had already returned the “Chicha,” which was not good. Kind of hard to mess up instant Chicha. The worst part was the attitude of the servers who took offense of our comments; instead of welcoming our suggestions to improve. We even paid for the food we hardly ate.

Great service but the food not really. I ordered a ceviche mixto ; not good at all, and calamar frito, was very bad, The calamari is too crispy, the truth should improve it. Sometimes these restaurants put too much egg and flour before frying it to make the dish look bigger. Don't put so much on it!!! just serve a dish that is delicious.

We visited Inca Cantina twice, hoping to give the restaurant a fair second chance. During our first visit, the anticuchos were undercooked, but we decided to return and try other dishes. Unfortunately, our second experience was even more disappointing. We ordered the empanadas and papa rellena, and the quality of the meat was poor, containing many pieces of fat. The potato in the papa rellena tasted like it was made from boxed mashed potatoes rather than fresh ingredients. Additionally, the empanadas were fried, which was surprising since traditional Peruvian empanadas are baked. Considering the quality of the food, the prices felt too high for what was served. For these reasons, we won’t be returning to this restaurant.

Food was bland and service was poor. They try and give you the bill in the middle of your dining to rush you out. They rush your dining experience.

My problem is mainly with one person here and also that they are starting to get a little cheap. I ordered an alcoholic drink like I always do. Well, they thought they can give me this small glass. I ask where the regular glasses are and this older woman lies to me and tells me this is the same glass. No lady, it is not. I get it, you want to raise the price but you don't want to piss people off so you give them tiny glasses. Just be honest about it. This wasn't the only thing I thought was a little ridiculous. Same woman- I watched as she took bread from baskets when people left and put them into new baskets. Disgusting. Seriously. I realize this is probably legal, but it's risky. All in all, I will not be back. This place seems to have entered into the spiral that will likely lead to it going out of business. You know the routine. First they pinch pennies. Then regulars get annoyed. Next thing you know, they have to raise prices because less people come. Whatever... I liked this place but there are places just as good without this old lady lying to my face.

Bad service , the waitress took the order wrong and my daughter noodles were over condiment Plus the taste of the food is no like Peruvian food. There is a really good place call aji limón. So much better than here

I didn't feel a Peruvian flavor in any of the dishes, we ordered seco de cabrito, asado de abuela, salsa huancaina, and choros a la chalaca, but what seemed really bad to me was the price of choros a la chalaca, almost 20 dollars for 5 mussels , when the photo on the menu showed 8. What save the dinner was the attention of the girls, very attentive and helpful. Thank you rosalva and esmeralda.

Waitress was very distracted. She forgot to bring me back my credit card after paying, as well as my leftover food. As a client, I didn’t pay attention either to her doing her job, and noticed it only 30 minutes later. Had to drive back to the restaurant where the waitress told me about how “I” had forgot my credit card. They already had thrown my leftover food and didn’t have any left. She offered to give me some helado de lucuma to make it up for it. First, their ice cream had freezer burn so I did not want to get more of it, and second, I was going to drive for over 2 hours, so couldn’t really bring ice cream with me. She didn’t insist on offering anything else and let me go. If the food was great, I would go back despite of the service, but it was far from that.

I have try so many Peruvian restaurants in LA and this is one of the worst, if you are Peruvian, I won’t recommend coming here, you won’t find the Peruvian taste. Not even for the chicha or maracuya. Service was good :)
