Opinions de MJ Sushi Fremont
I love this place. The food is good and the price is very affordable for the amount of food you get. The waiters are nice and service is fast. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for sushi. Best part is that they're open late. However, there's no Udon. It's mainly Sushi, Hand rolls, and appetizers. They also have vegetarian rolls!
My server was kind and hospitable. She even let me know about the free beer special for first time customers. The quality of the food as definitely amazing for the price. Good portions and fresh fish on my sushi. Will come back here for sure with my friends and family. Note, thier kitchen closes a little earlier at 1130pm. You can spend the next 30min till closing for drinks!!
My dear foodie friends (s/o to Johnny and Lien) introduced me to this place and it has been my top sushi place ever since!!! My photos don't do justice because I do a quick snap and then I eat! The fish is fresh and the prices are reasonable (I think prices are cheap!) The owner and the staff here are super friendly and hospitable. My fiancé and I usually order the CB roll, chirashi bowl, and the deluxe hand roll and this is plenty of food.
Searching for the best fresh sushi and sashimi. I was with a coworker and we were getting hungry but wanted to eat well. Sushi is what came to mind. When we showed up at MJ everyone was super friendly. Like being greeted by an auntie you haven't seen in a long time. I was at first thinking do we want to eat here? The ambience is not amazing. Hey, am I here for food or low lights and booths. My coworker and I were all in. Everyone in this place looked like they were there for a reason. Good sushi! We dove in. Sake, seaweed salad, sashimi deluxe + add toro and volcano roll. I did say we were hungry. Everything was so so good. Wish this place was in my town. I'm getting hungry writing this. Enjoy!
This place has become our absolute favorite Sushi place! The staff is always very friendly and the service is extraordinary. The food comes out quickly but the flavor and quality is above and beyond. We have not had any experience that has come close to being bad. Man I remember when this place was empty, now we have to wait for a table. Still absolutely worth it.
Best sushi in Fremont/Newark for an affordable price. Not your fancy restaurant but the sushi they have is really good. Friendly people! It's a busy spot so make sure to reserve table in advance to avoid wait times. They are open till 12am so I call it a good spot for late night dinners.
Great pieces and even better service. I love the easygoing vibe here. Was offered drinks on the house "because I feel like it". Sushi was very beautiful and garnished like normally you'd only see on much more expensive sushi. After we asked about a specific bowl with flowers on another table, we were given the same roses as seen in the picture for free. Had a lot of fun.
Hands down the best Sushi spot I’ve been because of the vibes and environment. The owner definitely shows pride in the quality ingredients for all their food and the customer service him and his team provide. If you’re looking for a delicious sushi and a warm and welcoming environment, this is the go to place. Be prepared to be a regular here too if you’re local 😁
Sushi was really good! Came with party of 3 around 6PM Sunday- no wait. They give bottled water for free. We ordered the volcano, MJ, special salmon, dragon, and regular avocado salmon roll. Everything was good! We all really liked the volcano roll. They don't put too much rice on the rolls and stuff the rolls up! The atmosphere is also nice. Clean seating, they have anime on the TV, and they play Japanese music. The price point is also amazing as the large rolls were only 12.99 each. Compared to other similar restaurants it would normally be $16/$18 dollars. Definitely my new favorite local sushi spot!
Wherever it's late and I want to eat Sushi I can only think of this one place because they are open late as compared to other Sushi places. The sushi that you get here is awesome, tastier and the service is fast. This is my second time here and I love it. I ordered volcano rolls, Lion King roll and spicy tuna with Miso soup. It was delicious.
This is the only sushi place I'll go to in the area. It is such good value - the cheapest sushi around and yet the quality and quantity impresses me every time. The staff is kind and attentive, and its even open late. I have nothing bad to say about this place, which is quite rare. This is really a hidden gem in a city filled with overpriced, low quality sushi.
We came for dinner around 630pm on a Sunday and were seated immediately. We ordered the sashimi deluxe and 2 rolls, the hot mama and scallop bake. All very good but I’d probably only order the sashimi and hot mama again. The scallop roll was okay but my partner really enjoyed it. We also both ordered hot tea which same in a single cup but was refilled quickly with fresh tea. Service was fast and seamless, even when every seat in the restaurant became full. It was busy by the time we left but we were still able to get our check quickly and head out. We’ll definitely return when we’re in the area!
This place really deserves mention. We were out searching for a restaurant after 9 pm on a Thursday night and most places were closed. We stumbled upon this place by chance as it was quite out of our known area. But to our surprise it was filled to the brim. We had to wait outside for like 10 mins to get a seat. The wait was worth the while. The place deserved the crowd since it had such great and delicious food. Beer was on the house and the waiters were very friendly. We had an amazing time trying out 5 different kinds of sushi and some starters. Our choices included chicken karaage, gyoza, takoyaki, monster roll, mj roll, firecracker roll, hot mama roll, BB roll and miso soup. Don't miss out on the miso soup, it goes extremely well with the different flavors of the sushi. To be honest, the waiters helped out on what types we would like since we aren't that familiar with the many different options provided in the menu. They even offered a second round of beer on the house. For someone like me who isn't a die hard fan of sushi (I do like the occasional one), I will most definitely recommend this place which quite easily has a lot of simple yet amazing sushi to pick from. It was an amazing experience and we loved the food. I will definitely visit this place again in the future and recommend it to others as well.
My family and I were a party of 13, and the owner was super accommodating, letting us have a large table and giving us such an awesome service. The food was amazing here, from their Sashimi, sushi and hand rolls, to chicken karaage or beef teriyaki 🤤, nothing fails to impress me! The owner hung out with us, had shots with us and was super pleasant to be with, while proving us with fresh food within a moments. Low prices, for high quality sushi. A plus for real wasabi, they got horse radish if that's your thing as well. Will definitely go here again! Can't believe I've only just found out about this place! Thanks for the service Andy, can't wait to come back for more 👍.
Perfect experience! This is my second time visiting MJ Sushi and it was fantastic each time. Friendly service, cold beer, and honestly super quick and high quality sushi rolls. Might have to make this a regular stop while I'm in town!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fresh ingredients, great sashimi and sweet uni. There was a small order mix-up, and the staff fixed it right away and even offered it on the house. Simple, comfortable, and I’d definitely come back.
$29.95 for this beautiful chirashi bowl 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I hope everyone gets to experience what I did.
Loved the place. Spacious. Tables well spaced out. Efficient and quick service. Recommend reading the menu quickly as there are so many options! We got the chicken teriyaki for our kid. And California roll Scallop roll Fiesta roll. Everything tasted fresh and made for a great meal. Initially we thought the portions might not suffice. But ended up being filling for 3. Total came to about $50 something incl. tip. Luckily got parking at around 8:30pm else the lot can get busy with a party hall nearby, is what we heard. Would definitely come back for this.
Great variety of sushi and speedy service. This place is great if you want to hangout and chill with friends or family and try new food. The waitresses are also helpful in explaining and giving out recommendations if you have any questions. Monster roll was awesome.
Very nice sushi restaurant to go to! It’s a nice place to go to with all hanging plants on the walls along with black and white theme making it match with some Japanese styles. Yes, there aren’t any bentos and less entrees in the menu, but the main dish is sushi, which is probably why that’s the case. I’m quite surprised that they open until midnight especially on the weekends. The sushi tastes good along with other foods. The house salad is really big like we can just take some at home. I also didn’t know that the sashimi platter comes with rice, which is quite unusual. Again, really nice place to go to haha
I have probably been to this place like 20 times and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to leave a review. Absolutely the very best & freshest sushi in the Tri-City area. I’m constantly trying to find new sushi spots but I am continuously disappointed and end up returning to MJ Sushi because the quality and service is always the same, amazing. Not only is the food great but the staff is super friendly and always come say hello to me and my daughter. They are generally pretty full but not crazy busy that you can’t get a table for long. Finding good sushi is tough and then you add decent service to the mix it gets even harder. This place serves the your food fresh, fast, and friendly. By far one of my favorite restaurants!!! Wish I could rate it a 6 star. Also, if you are vegetarian and don’t eat fish the vegetarian sushi here is so bomb!!!
Beautiful presentation. delicious food, the fish are fresh, the service is impeccable, the attendants are kind. If you want to eat delicious and fresh sushi, this is the ideal place. Prices are ok. My only feedback is to improve the presentation of the hot sushi because the aluminum foil boat is ugly and impoverishes the dish.
Sushi was sooo good. The prices are reasonable. Service was A-1!! I literally came next day for another round of sushi. Their that good 😊
Love sushi!!! I am not used to the flair this place puts on the plates, but nothing wrong with a nicer picturesque meal. The fish was fresh, wasabi was hot. And the service did not falter, I would join MJ Sushi again and will go a bit hungry as I was not able to finish this time around.

Dynamite and Monster Rolls! I'm a regular here and I can honestly say this place is consistent with service from the time you walk in and leave full!! Service is great, fast and they are open until midnight!!

Very delicious food, great flavors & generous portions! The staff is super kind and that level of service pairs well with good food! I will be returning! Plus, they are open super late and that’s awesome!
Love this place, definitely one of my favorite spots to go to. The rolls are delicious! They also give out free ice cream!! It’s also very affordable

This restaurant opens late and is a great place for a late dinner. The sushi and hamachi were slightly above average. Sauce on all the dishes were overly sweet. The miso soup was hot but very bland and barely had any taste at all. I also think the staff forgot about our miso soup because it took an unusually long time to come out and we only got it after reminding the staff about it.
The sashimi was fresh and delicious. We tried two types of teriyaki, which were both tasty. However, not as tender as we would’ve liked. The salmon seemed a little too crusty and neither had sufficient teriyaki sauce in my opinion. The fried appetizers were spot in the technique, flavor and combination of dipping sauce. Miso soup was nice. But why were the side salads served in plastic to-go containers? This was not attractive on the table. The complementary soft-serve ice cream was wonderful. Thank you.
Ordered via Doordash. Really enjoyed the cooked rolls: lion king and baked scallop rolls. The raw ones were okay too although fyi the CB roll and Mango tuna rolls are very similar. The monster roll was okay, I personally am not a fan of spicy tuna or shrimp tempura rolls. Cheap miso soup! Not the tastiest, it was okay.
A pretty solid sushi place that usually isn't too busy! Owned by a Chinese family, serving Japanese food and playing Korean music is a pretty unique way of expressing the owners! But besides that, because it wasn't too busy, Service was very attentive and refills of water or tea or sake were very common! We ordered 4 rolls and a sashimi plate of 20 pcs that filled up five people very well! We also order tempura plates! The one roll I really liked was the monster roll and lion king! I really liked the broccoli and the shrimp tempuras less so the yam and potato ones. They also have regular and less sodium soy sauce which was nice. For dessert, they also have a complimentary self-serve ice cream machine that I can't really tell if vanilla or coconut on one side but it's definitely strawberry on the other! The place looks really nice too with big TVs playing cooking content from YouTube and simple wall decorations including some plants! I wouldn't mind coming back here to try more of the dishes, including maybe the takoyaki or the beef teriyaki plates!
Yellowtail appetizer was good. Soft shelled crab was just okay and was pretty small for the price. Wouldn't get the crab again. Deluxe sashimi platter tasted very good. No fishy taste at all and the quality was there. A lot of meat for only $50. Deluxe hand roll was good. Spicy hand roll was also good. Baked scallop roll was good but the scallops were small and thin. Wish they would have put more scallops. Chicken teriyaki with miso soup and salad was good. Service was nice and quick. Atmosphere was pretty chill. I would definitely go back again. All this came out to $131.
One of the better sushi places in town. Great selection, food is fresh and portions are large. Prices are reasonable. Can get crowded so best to make reservations. One of the few places that closes at midnight. Ample parking. Can get noisy when it is crowded. Mostly younger people eat here but it is family friendly. If you ask for water, they will give you your own bottled water. Service is good. Highly recommended to try!
We came on Monday evening so it was pretty empty. The lady server here is really nice and very attentive. What's interesting is they give you bottled water instead of cup water. The sushi rolls here are a bit smaller than other restaurants but they give less rice. They taste good but only at the beginning for the first 1-2 pieces. Flavors were pretty good too so you don't need to dip them in soy sauce. Edamame ($3.99): Very basic and a bit too soft. I barely got any beans. The Costco ones are actually better. Hot Mama Roll ($12.99): Okay. Not a huge fan of the crab meat mix on top. Warrior Roll ($12.99): My second favorite roll. Mango Tuna Roll ($12.99): My least favorite roll. Volcano Roll ($12.99): My favorite roll. Very unique & tasty. Love the crispy honey walnut on top. MJ Roll ($12.99): Okay. The eel tempura wasn't crunchy inside.

Came here a couple times with family, it's your standard Chinese-owned sushi shop, but the food quality is consistently good. The carpaccio is pretty solid as a starter, a good in-between of cooked and raw. It is very saucy so the flavor of the fish can be lost. The sashimi platter is fairly standard, salmon and akami. There's not much variation to it, but the cuts are thick if that's your thing.

Had our food to go and the food was good, but would have been better if they didn't forget our side of rice. We didnt notice the rice was missing until we got in our hotel room 😕
Service is shitty but food was great. The server was very inattentive. She came to take our order and bring our food but never came back to our table until we waved her down for the bill and it still took her a ton of time to come back for the card. I wanted to get utensils but she rushed off super fast after giving us our food and didn’t come back. Had to wave down another worker. there were also a ton of fruit flies on the walls we didn’t notice at first because they’re so tiny. the food was good over all though the price is slightly high but nothing major. the rolls were pretty thick but flavorful. I kind of regret my tip knowing that there was supposed to be complimentary ice cream and we didn’t receive any. mind you, there were multiple other customers who we saw eating said ice cream but we just assumed they bought it.

**1-Star Review: Rude Staff and Unhygienic Practices** Horrible experience at this sushi restaurant. The food was mediocre, but the female employee was incredibly rude—dismissive, sarcastic, and unapologetic. The worst part? When a piece of sushi fell on the floor, she kicked it underneath the table with her leg instead of cleaning it properly. Unprofessional, unhygienic, and disrespectful. Never returning. And when she was returning the money back she slammed the bills on the table very disrespectfully.
We were looking for the best place for dinner and chose this 4.7 star restaurant, but what immediately surprised me was that the dishes are served in plastic boxes with disposable utensils (fork), sushi and rolls will be served on beautiful ceramic plates, which are of course a plus for the restaurant. We ordered many different dishes, and my choice was beef in teriyaki sauce. The taste of the meat was bland and tough, with streaks that were not only impossible to chew, but also dangerous to swallow. I asked to replace the meat, but they told me that they only have such cuts and do not cook differently. But I was offered to just return this dish for a full refund. Yes, sure. After the dish was returned to the kitchen, the chef was unhappy that his dish was not eaten by the guests of his restaurant, as his indignation was heard throughout the restaurant. It was not pleasant that it attracted so much attention to me as well. He allowed himself to speak loudly in his own language (Chinese or Japanese, I could not make out), and the tone of his voice did not express joy. Sorry, I'll continue. After that, I switched to rolls with eel and here a surprise awaited me too, in each of the 8 pieces inside the roll I came across something similar to shrimp scales or shells, naturally, the remnants of the rolls had to be spit out each time into a plate. I don’t want to offend anyone with my review, I just wanted others to know that 4.7 stars are the merits of the chef and service staff, I was unlucky with the chef today.
I came in with a group of friends (six people total) and we were seated right away. Although the restaurant wasn’t busy, it took over 25 minutes for someone to take our food and drink orders. During that time, we repeatedly saw staff attending to other tables while completely ignoring ours. We even had to flag someone down to get our bill after waiting more than 10 minutes once we were finished. Due to this poor service, we decided not to leave a tip. However, we were surprised to find that a tip had already been added to our bill. If this was due to our party size, it was never communicated to us. While the food was good, it wasn’t good enough to make up for the extremely disappointing service.
