i literally LOVE THIS PLACE. such a gem in the fresno area. i order the filet mignon everytime ive come, and its literally the best filet ive ever had. i just wish it was bigger 😌😌 one of the only restaurants ive ever gone to that really pays close attention to your water cups and fills up your water immediately which is very important and refreshing to me. i love it and this restaurant is a must-go spot in fresno :)

Wonderful restaurant! This is becoming one of our favorite places. They are very consistent, we did Valentine’s Day at max bistro this year and they did not disappoint! I got lobster tail with the filet mignon, both were cooked to perfection a very good mashed potatoes and asparagus to go with it. My Wife did the fillet with a different au gratin style potato dish and asparagus was absolutely delicious . Bartender knows what they’re doing , Lemon drops are a dangerous must have, the old-fashions are delicious as well. We got a handmade seasonal pie for dessert, very good, comes out warm with a nice ice cream. A good end of the meal. Overall atmosphere was very relaxing Our server was very attentive and friendly, she explained the menu when asked and was available every time we needed her. If I were to give 1 negative it would be for their seating it’s a little congested, but that’s a very minimal complaint Max bistro did not disappoint. We will be back for continued support. Keep up the hard work. Update 3-16 same good service, a little disappointed in my Austrian wagyu ribeye, it came pretty charred , had good flavor but also a slight burnt taste….. drinks seemed to be mellower than normal, maybe a new bar tender Still enjoyed the meal and ate every bite

What a great location for an event! The staff was amazing, the food was great, along with the decorations, being beautiful. We went with a set menu for the event and it was melt in your mouth delicious. Thank you for a great experience

My compliments to the kitchen on this one! Everything I had was beyond perfection for me. The shrimp for starters was exquisite. You can't stop eating the bread with the sauce. You want more. The mushroom arugula was super fresh scrumptious! The salmon complimented it perfectly. Oh those mushrooms.. Had to end it with the vanilla bean creme brulee. So rich! It was super hard for me not to put my finger in the glass jar to get the rest. Great service all around! God bless 😁🙏🏽🤟🏽✌🏽

Wonderful service - welcoming, friendly, efficient Ambiance - beautiful and classy, paintings on the walls, clean Food - we started with calamari, which was great, fresh, and crisp. I had the kobe meatloaf, which many reviewers seemed to like. For me, the meatloaf was good but a little underwhelming in terms of flavor. For dessert, we had the toffee bread pudding, which was truly fantastic. I am interested to go back and try other dishes.

While in town, we were trying to figure out where to go as a couple for my birthday. The reason we chose Max's was because they were open later than most restaurants in the area. We were so glad we made this awesome choice. The atmosphere was amazing. It was the perfect venue for a romantic dinner for two, a semi-large group or just hanging out in the bar area with friends. That, coupled with the friendliness of the staff, made for an awesome experience. Let's talk about the food. Mouth-watering 😋 wonderfully prepared .... I can't say enough about the scrumptious 😋 taste. The Topper: i was offered any dessert item from the menu free for my birthday! So cool 😎 and glorious!!

I did a last-minute reservation. When I showed up they were very tentative. The cooks were happy and singing even the owner greeted me JJ. I ordered mac and cheese. A glass of Cabernet, truffle fries, filet mignon, prawns, and meatloaf. Celebrating my son's birthday everything was delicious. I was surprised how good the mac and cheese was. And I do travel a lot this was the best one so far and it's in my hometown. I'm going back for the food and especially for the service

The fillet was like butter in my mouth and it was so well seasoned. Vegetables were perfectly cooked. Tender but still had bite. Great drinks. And my chicken marsala was so yummy. You will never be disappointed with the truffle fries, they're absolutely addicting. Staff was friendly and helpful.

It’s like taking a trip back to the 90’s in a good way. The food was outstanding. Great drink options. The staff was super sweet and inviting. The crowed was also comfortable to be around. The restrooms where a bit below my standards. However, they had some sort of girl private party that may have overwhelmed their capability of keeping tidy in that area. It still does not detour me from coming back.

Just not the same as when they were newly opened. Took Deli away witch made the experience unique. For a first time dinner. Yes its good. But the menue never changes and food is same all there competitors. NOT UNIQUE ENOUGH anymore. They need to stand out.

Came here for the first time yesterday (1/18/2026) for my sister’s baby shower. The food was decent, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience. The waitress who handled our party was noticeably passive-aggressive and unprofessional. I’m not sure if she struggles with large groups or if it was just an off day, but her attitude made things uncomfortable. Simple courtesy was lacking throughout the service. One moment that stood out to me was when I handed her my ticket and thanked her directly, only to hear her say “thank Valerie” who is my mom. While my mom did cover most of the bill for the whole party, It felt dismissive not to acknowledge me after I had directly thanked her. Overall, the service negatively impacted what should have been a positive experience. I hope management addresses this, because the restaurant itself has potential, but the level of service we received was disappointing.

We have been here before and had a long wait for our food, but the servers were nice and attentive to our group. Our second visit was not the best. Service was good, but the food we chose was okay. We had the shrimp appetizer, which was tasty. The shrimp tasted like they were previously frozen. We also ordered the salmon and the striped Bass (special for that night). Both were covered in a cream based sauce. We felt that there was too much sauce on the fish (see pictures). I scraped the sauce off the fish, the Bass was okay but I added salt.
