One of the hottest Matcha place in DFW, and it was a hit. Matcha is delicious, plus the Ube is one of the best in town. Quick service even they are super busy. Cute little shop next to Haidilao, perfect dessert after hot pot. Great location!

If you’re a matcha lover, Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is an absolute must! They have a great variety of matcha options, and everything looked so good it was hard to choose. I ended up getting the matcha soft serve, and wow — hands down the best matcha ice cream I’ve ever had. The flavor was rich, earthy, and perfectly balanced — not too bitter, not too sweet. The ice cream itself was super smooth and creamy, with amazing texture and quality. You can really taste the premium matcha in every bite. Can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu — this place is a gem for anyone who loves authentic matcha!

Got the Ube soft swirl 🍦which had a creamy and sweet Ube flavor. The matcha 🍵 Maiko Special is a must try. It has a matcha swirl, jellies, matcha cake, crushed crunchy corn flakes and a red bean paste. The combination of all flavors in the special is so good and they complement each other well. The matcha swirl here is by far the strongest and most decadent matcha I’ve tasted among places serving matcha ice cream

This cafe is such a gem! I tried the ube soft serve and the red bean matcha latte, and both were incredible. The ube soft serve was perfectly creamy with just the right sweetness, and the matcha latte with red bean was rich, smooth, and so well balanced. Everything tasted so fresh and thoughtful—it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again!!

So glad Matcha Maiko opened a Frisco location right next to Haidilao! It’s a small spot, but the line moves pretty quickly—I waited about 15 minutes on a weekday, which wasn’t bad at all. The matcha soft serve is rich and creamy with a strong, authentic flavor. I got the parfait with mochi and red bean—so good! Staff was friendly and the shop is clean and cozy. Perfect dessert stop after hot pot or anytime you’re craving something sweet and refreshing. Definitely worth checking out!

Been wanting to go here since they opened but there is always a line or they're closed. Finally got in this past weekend and it was exactly what I was hoping it would be!! The matcha shaved ice was bomb diggity and so was the ube soft serve. Highly recommend!!

Been here twice, first for just the soft serve and the second for their new shaved ice. Both times did not miss. The matcha flavor for the soft serve is incredible and I think it really does live up to its name, “Premium Matcha”. My only complaint is the wooden spoons. I’m not sure if there is a particular reason for using wooden spoons, but personally, I believe the taste of wood takes away from the overall flavor of the matcha. Also, either they forgot or were out of them, but our shaved ice did not come with the chestnut as advertised, but not a big deal! Will definitely be back for future matcha runs :)

Leaving five stars because the owners are clearly listening and improving. Yes, there were some early issues (like too much ice), but they’ve already fixed that. My drink today was perfect. People really need to remember this is a soft opening and give the owners grace as they work out the kinks. I’ve only tried the strawberry matcha latte (which is delicious, I always get two!) and while it’s a little pricey, it’s worth it. I’m so glad they opened a location here. Welcome to Frisco! Looking forward to coming back often.

I really enjoyed my iced matcha latte from Cafe Maiko, so I had to leave a review but I was surprised to see they don’t yet have the stars they deserve! I’m really picky when it comes to matcha, everything has to be just right— not too sweet, perfect balance of milk to matcha, and a strong matcha flavor without being overpowering. In my opinion, Cafe Maiko has got it down! I had to make the drive out for another within one week because I was craving it again. I got both drinks under 10 minutes when I went and the staff was working hard to get everything out quickly. There are benches inside to wait for your order, but the seating to enjoy your drinks or ice cream is outside. I’d really recommend trying this place out, don’t be deterred by the ratings! You’ve got to know when you’re going to a highly anticipated place’s soft openings, wait times can be long. The business listened, which is great to see, but others have found something else to complain about. At the end of the day, the matcha is high quality and I’d say very fairly priced. I think the owners are doing great and I look forward to continuing to come for my matcha fix.

The matcha hojicha latte with oat milk was incredibly delicious and smooth. Adding the matcha ice cream for just $2.50 was the perfect touch. Despite being a line out the door, the service was fast and steady. I didn’t have to wait too long, and I’m already planning my next visit! 😊

We were hyped that this place was opening up in DFW, especially once we realized that we've been the their Japantown location in SF twice LOL. We waited for the hype to die down too and since they've opened, they have adjusted hours to better hours in my opinion. Basically opening later which is perfect since not many places are open late, dessert after dinner or just later at night, plus its hot as heck during the day in Texas. Its pricey, but its good, we love the soft serve, their ube is great too! Hojicha was good but it was my 1st time trying it so I don't know how it compares to others. The yuzu is awesome and we will miss it once it goes away, but we hope it comes back every summer!

Maiko special was great, enough to spilt it with my daughter. It was pricey $10. Not very sweet and the extra matcha powder on top makes it slightly bitter, as most Asians prefer in a dessert. Place was very busy @ 2pm Saturday. Inside is very small with benches along the walls to sit, with outdoor seating as well.

I really enjoyed the cheese foam Matcha Latte. Service is nice, but the cashier forgot to give us our order number, so we had to guess which order was ours. I intend to come back in the near future, once it is fully open. Update: Came back for the grand opening and got the Maiko Special and it was soooo good!! Service was fast and well organized despite the crowd of people.

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is such a gem! I tried the strawberry matcha and yuzu matcha ice cream, and both were absolutely delicious. The strawberry matcha was perfectly balanced — rich and earthy with just the right touch of sweetness — while the yuzu matcha was so refreshing with a bright citrusy twist that paired beautifully with the matcha flavor. The quality of the ingredients really shines through. Definitely a must-visit spot for matcha lovers!

Unusually strong but smooth matcha flavor - quite nice. There was a line, but it moved very quickly. Quality of the mochi, red bean, and kinako on my soft serve was also very good. The portions aren’t as large as the pictures suggest because they leave an air pocket in the middle when filling, but I can’t complain with the quality level.

s
sahar S

Cheered me up on a sad day, the drink was so good and the service was nice :) just beware of lines! I didn’t know how popular it was before going, so time yourself accordingly when you’re not in a rush. Making matcha is not a fast process, so keep that in mind as well. Even still, the baristas got it out pretty quickly!

Moved out of Texas 5 months ago, and it was always on my to-go places when I came back to visit. I finally tried it two days ago and can’t stop thinking about their Ube/matcha Maiko special. Can’t wait to come back and eat again!

Had to check this shop for soft opening. Hojicha latte was okay , but the maiko special & matche latte was fire. Maiko special- I got the soft serve match & ube ice cream, comes with mochi, red beans, & little jellies. It’s a really mixture & matcha ice cream was very buttery smooth. Their matcha latte was amazinnggg, taste super similar to ones you would get from Japan, this place is definitely making its way to my top places for matcha .

High quality and strong matcha that makes you go wow! Not too sweet and prices are decent considering how there is a matcha supply shortage in the world. Definitely a nice desserts place to go to after lunch or dinner!

So glad I waited a while to come try this new spot since it seems like they’ve worked through any small problems in their drinks. I got the cheese foam matcha latte and the matcha flavor was great and prominent in the drink. Unlike half the other places where the latte just tastes like milk. Cheese foam was an amazing touch and I’ll definitely be back for more. No clue if my matcha was hand whisked but I did see the team hand whisking some of the drinks. Side note: I went Sunday close to opening time around 1pm and the line was relatively short.

Love this place !! The soft serve especially is always so flavorful. If you want real matcha come here! There is only benches inside and they have a couple tables outside.

When it comes to finding the perfect dessert, few experiences can rival the simple joy of exceptional ice cream. During a recent visit to the cafe, I decided to try their matcha ice cream, and I was completely blown away. From the very first bite, it was clear that this was not just ordinary ice cream. The texture was incredibly smooth and creamy, melting in my mouth with a richness that felt luxurious without being overwhelming. It quickly became evident that the matcha ice cream was crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. The flavor itself was a revelation. Unlike typical green tea desserts that can sometimes taste bitter or artificial, the matcha ice cream struck a perfect balance. The matcha was earthy and nuanced, delivering a deep, authentic flavor that lingered pleasantly on the palate. Each spoonful carried a subtle sweetness that complemented, rather than overpowered, the distinct tea notes. It was clear that high-quality ingredients were used, elevating the ice cream from a simple treat to an unforgettable culinary experience. Beyond flavor and texture, the presentation at the cafe added to the overall experience. The ice cream was served with care, with a visually appealing finish that reflected the premium nature of the product. Even before tasting, the attention to detail in presentation set high expectations that were fully met with every mouthful. It felt indulgent, like enjoying something truly special, which made the treat feel worth savoring slowly rather than rushing through. In conclusion, the matcha ice cream at Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko stands out as the best ice cream I have ever had. The perfect combination of smooth texture, authentic flavor, and elegant presentation made it a remarkable experience from start to finish. For anyone who appreciates ice cream at its finest, this is a must-try dessert that leaves a lasting impression. The Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko has not only created a dessert but also a moment of pure delight that will be remembered long after the last bite.

I stopped by Matcha Cafe Maiko for dessert and it was such a nice matcha treat. The matcha soft serve with strawberry was really good — super smooth, creamy, and the sweetness was perfectly balanced. The matcha flavor was rich but not bitter, and the strawberry added a nice fresh contrast. I also tried the matcha yogurt frappuccino, and it was honestly my favorite. The texture was incredibly smooth and creamy, with a slightly fatty, umami matcha taste that felt very fresh and high quality. If you like authentic matcha desserts, this place definitely hits the spot. Simple, refreshing, and very satisfying. 🍵💚

i’ve gone to japan twice before and visited kyoto /uji for their matcha… this matcha is TOP TIER grade. it tastes exactly like the real thing, but that’s given since they say their matcha is sourced from uji! honestly the BEST matcha i’ve had in TX 10/10 -this is the strawberry matcha with mochi

Surprisingly good. Matcha yogurt and the matcha yogurt with ube are great — not too sweet, great smooth texture. 5 star for both. The rice hot tea? I like it, but some family didn’t like it. The matcha yogurt drink is on the sour side, 4 star. Limited seating so be mindful. Overall, 5 star. This beats American overly sweetened yogurt.

Service was quick and super friendly. Perfect for hanging out with friends or grabbing a quick treat. The matcha ice cream is smooth and earthy while the ube ice cream is nutty and vibrant. Both taste fresh and creamy like they were made with real care. You can tell it’s the real deal. I’m personally team ube but honestly, trying both was totally worth it. So delish! 💚💜

If you’re a matcha fan (or just matcha-curious), this spot is a MUST. The drinks are balanced—not overly sweet, super smooth, and made with actual quality matcha (no chalky aftertaste here). The shop itself has a cozy, minimal vibe — clean, calm, and a nice spot to either sit for a while or grab something to go.<3 What makes it even better is the staff—they’re genuinely friendly and made me feel very happy whenever I’m here. I cannot wait for my day off so I can be here and enjoy a matcha latte with soft serve on top. I’m still waiting for the yuzu season to come back so I can enjoy it once again with the matcha :3 —> Cute shop, amazing matcha, wholesome energy. 100% recommend because honestly, it’s the kind of place you walk out of smiling without realizing it. <3

If you're a matcha lover, Premium Matcha Café Maiko is a must-try! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a sweet treat. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall pleasant experience. I tried their matcha soft serve with a mix of vanilla and matcha flavors creamy, smooth, and perfectly balanced. I also had the Maiko Matcha with ube, and it was a delicious combination. The rich earthiness of the matcha paired beautifully with the subtle sweetness of ube, making it a refreshing dessert choice for summer. Whether you're a hardcore matcha fan or just looking for something cool and unique, this place hits the spot. Creamy, flavorful, and satisfying I'll definitely be coming back!

Great matcha flavor on their drinks and the matcha soft serve is delicious. Some outdoor areas for sitting and eating. Inside is waiting for orders only, and small. Staff is pleasant and friendly. You do have to let them know in person if you want your drink less sweet, no option for it on the ordering kiosk.

flavor is pretty authentic Japanese matcha, very smooth. Great quality matcha makes you feel the different stages of bitterness this is awesome. Also a big kudos to home-made mochi as topping, fresh, chewy and natural. However, 1/3 of the cup wasn't filled. I mean it's $7😂. Hopefully it's not intentional and just a mistake by employee.

Their matcha tastes real good. It’s very strongly flavored. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the drinks have toooo much ice. Also there is no option to alter the amount of ice when ordering on the kiosk.

L

I got a Matcha with cheese foam and a soft serve. Both tasted great. Had to line up for a little bit but not too bad. There was also a pop up in the shop the day I went, so the place was uncomfortably crowded. But I will come again for the Matcha.

S

You really can’t go wrong with matcha at Maiko, but I’ve been loving the ube twist. (Some places the artificial ube flavor gives me a headache, but not Maiko’s!) My obsession is the kakigori (or Japanese shaved ice). Although most desserts shops do snowy ice these says, I like how Maiko’s shaved ice here is kind of gravelly and not milky. It just hits with the soft serve. Loved the soft serve and matcha latte, but we didn’t enjoy the yuzu frappe. We took a sip and had to throw it out. Unfortunately, seating is very limited. And in the Texas summer heat, it was a mess trying to eat in the outdoor seating area. Also, one of the patio chairs was broken, so part of my order dropped. It didn’t help that the design of the shaved ice cup is top-heavy.

K
Katlynn Cha

Delicious matcha flavors - there's a variety of cold iced drinks and soft serve at this location! Matcha flavor was strong which is how I prefer it. Wish they had hot beverages as well especially for the winter, but we came in October and they didn't have hot beverages to serve yet. Not a lot of seating inside but there are optional seatings for the outside. Great portion sizes as well.

C
Chris

Their offerings are on the pricier side but they're pretty good so it's at least worth the try. There's not much seating inside but a lot outside. They also have kiosks where you order but people take a while to order and their speed of fulfilling these orders is even slower. So expect quite a bit of wait between getting in line until you get your order.

Super excited that they finally opened! I read the news article back in January about the new location opening and had been waiting for months for any update. It took some time, but we finally have another legit matcha place in North Dallas! I came during their soft opening week, and of course, there was a line. Luckily, I arrived about three minutes before the big crowd, so the wait wasn’t too bad. The total time from getting in line to receiving my order was about 25 minutes. I was really looking forward to the matcha parfait (Maiko Special), and it did not disappoint. The parfait was super delicious and filling. It was 15% off during the soft opening (5/10–5/16), but the regular price is around $10. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but hey, it’s 2025 and everyone’s obsessed with matcha. I also tried the matcha tea, which I wasn’t too impressed with. It was a bit more watered down than I expected. Aside from that, the shop is still pretty small, but they have a decent number of benches where you can sit and wait. There are a couple of tables outside for dine-ins as well. Once I got to the front, everything went pretty smoothly. The staff were very friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. They also prepare the orders quickly; it only took about 7 minutes for my two items, which is impressive given how packed the store was. Overall, I really enjoyed the soft serve and will probably stop by whenever I’m craving some. I’ll give their drinks another shot, though maybe I’m just not as into matcha lattes as everyone else. Next time, I’m planning to try the ube and matcha twisted soft serve!

I have tried it years ago and I remember it being a lot stronger. It wasn’t as strong here. Also the day we went, they ran out of cones. I was fine with the cup. However, the ice cream melted so fast. I couldn’t eat it fast enough. The place is very small and cute.

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko has good-quality matcha, and the flavor is nice, but everything is premade—meaning you can’t adjust the sweetness. Unfortunately, the premade drinks are also very sweet for my taste. For the price, I expected more customization and freshness.

M

I love matcha and was drawn to this store because of its Japanese name, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered two Matcha Latte Floats and one Hojicha Latte Float. The taste was good, but we were really disappointed by how different the amount of ice cream was compared to the photo. For the high price, it was very disappointing. The cup was about 80% filled with ice cream, leaving very little to actually drink. For the price, it felt like we were let down. Dear owner, I hope you can reconsider the portion size, as it was quite different from what was shown in the photo

S
Salman Zindani

Given the overwhelming demand, the cafe decided against actually hand whisking the matcha and instead prepared it in small batches. Hand whisking is an integral part of the matcha process and lends to it being a labor of love. It was disappointing that they chose to forgo such a pivotal aspect. Hopefully they start it up again soon. If I was just rating the soft serve this place would be a solid 4 out of 5. Here’s what we got: Maiko Special with matcha and ube swirl: soft serve was solid. All the other toppings were somewhat meh. Strawberry matcha latte: The balance between the strawberry and matcha was off. I could mostly just taste the strawberry. The matcha wasn’t nearly as strong as I’d expect. Hojicha latte with cheese foam: initial reaction: trash. Delayed reaction: not that bad, kinda interesting actually. Final reaction: interesting. Would recommend sipping the drink from the cup rather than drinking it from the straw. Total $25.

Drove almost 1 hour for what I thought would be matcha heaven… but I got catfished 😩💔 The matcha tasted like green water — no depth, no vibe, just sad 😔🫠 Definitely not worth the hype (or the gas!). Gave “premium” in name only. 2/10 🙅‍♀️🧋

WARNING!! FOOD POISONING FROM THIS PLACE!! Maiko is really good matcha, somewhere my friend and I frequent multiple times during the week, but last Friday this location gave my friend awful food poisoning. I got the regular matcha latte that was pre-made, but my friend has a lactose allergy, so she got one with oat milk that had to be whisked fresh. Mine was poured into a cup and done, while my friend’s was being made by their utensils. We expect that’s where the contamination came from since the premade batches were probably from the previous day, or early in the morning with clean utensils. Also, we’re certain she got it from Maiko because she ate nothing after, and our dinner was 2 hours before. She started throwing up 4 hours after drinking her matcha, which would fall in the timeline of food poisoning. I wanted to write this review to warn others since it doesn’t seem like they’re keeping things clean. **EDIT 2/17: Thank you for your response, I appreciate your attention to this matter. My friend is still recovering but starting to feel a little better on Day 5. We waited to leave the review until we were certain about it. We ate together all day that day and I didn’t get any food poisoning, just my friend. We ordered the same meals as well, so there would’ve been cross contamination had it been at the other location, but since I did not get sick we made our deduction based on the facts we have. The only place we went to where our food/drinks wouldn’t cross contaminate would’ve been your establishment since I had the pre-whisked batch and my friend had a fresh whisked one at around 8 PM. I don’t say it lightly or without care, I just wanted to bring it to your attention on the off chance the staff isn’t keeping things as tidy as needed/potentially eating/drinking behind the counter and contaminating the work areas. It was a very rough weekend of recovery so I only hope is that whatever it is that it’s addressed and others don’t suffer as my friend is. Thank you.

I have to drove 1 hour away just for the drink because I really really love the matcha here, this week I already visit 3 times. But tonight I was disappointed because to my order they out of the matcha, they have to mix the new one and it’s not good at all. It’s too watery, I think they forgot to put the sugar or whatever to make it sweet. the taste it like water with the smell of matcha . I have bought 3 cups and I just can’t take it. But the ice cream was great. Hopefully I have a good experience next visit.

Very disappointed I got a matcha latte float and 4 sips later it was finished. The whole cup is ice. I saw them making it and they put the strawberry on the bottom added ice to the whole cup and put the soft serve then poured the ready made matcha into the corners to make it look full. I get to the car and start drinking and I kid you not it’s gone before I even get to the light. For $11 I expect a lot less ice and hand whisked matcha!

I tried other Cafe Maiko store previously in Honolulu and it was a great experience. I was excited about it coming to Frisco. I had the Maiko special and hot Hojicha with Cheese foam. The soft serve on the Maiko special was melting and dripping when it came out. I don’t think I have ever had a soft serve melting this fast and the weather is at 79 degrees in the evening. Then the Hojicha with cheese foam was not hot but was made with ice. The lady at the store did not make an apology and said it comes only in Ice. The order machine has hot option and that’s why we ordered. If they cannot make it, simply get rid of the option or inform us of the issue and it can be resolved. After I mentioned the issue, they can offer an apology or refund. I am not getting this at McDonald’s. I am paying premium for this experience and I am very disappointed. They need better training or get rid of the incompetent staffs.

Badddddddddd. The only decent thing here is their matcha ice cream. The drinks are really bad. They don’t even taste like matcha. I’ve seen many people talk about this place and I was excited to give it a try given the name as well but it was a huge let down and a waste of 8$. Nothing special. Save your money.
