Opinions de Nikugen Steak & Ramen Frisco
We had Gyukatsu, Tori Katsu also Fresh Salmon Sashimi, foods was amazing... The place was clean, Esther our server was nice and attentive. Thank you Nikugen :)
Food was decent. Got dumplings as appetizer and Ramen as entree. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was perfect until they placed a table of chattys next to me, not the next table over but literally sitting next to me. Next time I'll ask to be seated away from people.
First time customer. Ordered take out but next time will be dining in. My ramen and sushi were both amazing. Seriously probably the best ever!
I ordered the Nikugen Shiro Udon with fried tempura chicken, and it was sooo good! The cream sauce was so savory, and the bacon and tempura chicken were the perfect finishing touch. This is definitely the best udon I've ever had. I want to go back already! Give this spot a try - you won't regret it!
Never disappointed when we go. We make a point of going for the lunch menu price period before 2:30 pm on Saturday before shopping 🛍 nearby. Last trip we did Ramen and sushi 🍣 😋. This time we got the hibachi items and sushi 🍣. So tasty and delicious. Ingredients and flavor were on point. Service was warm and friendly.
We were searching for a dinner place for our date night. Came across this place and we were left feeling very satisfied with the quality and taste of the food. We ordered a few things and everything was delicious. The only down part was the service, but it seemed it was only our server because the rest of the servers were on top of it. We waited 15 minutes for our server to take our drink order. Other than that I will definitely be going back.
When I first entered the restaurant, the ambience is very chill and the lighting is just perfect. Bright enough to see your friends around you but not overwhelming. Our server was nice and very attentive to our table. Food wise, well it was nothing but amazing. I came with 2 of my friends and we each ordered a different appetizer. We got the Fried Gyozas, Tempura Shrimp, and Spicy Chicken Karage. They were all incredibly delicious and the portion for each of the apps was very generous. Definitely recommend any of the 3 if it’s your first time. For main, I got the WOW Specialty sushi roll. Very well made and the sauces accompanying the dish were great. As a group, we left very happy with the overall experience. Will definitely come back with my family in the future to try it for themselves. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Japanese food.
Heard good things about this place so decided to check it out on my own for lunch on a weekend. Nice atmosphere overall. Was able to get a half booth to myself. Heard great things about the Hibachi and sushi, so I ordered a calamari hibachi, which was delicious all the way around. Got a Nikugen roll which was delicious. Modern/pop/contemporary music was played overhead which helped to liven things a bit as well. I didn't think the music was too loud like others have mentioned in the past, but that may vary person to person. Had a pleasant experience overall, and all the food was delicious. Will definitely be back!
Visiting from Seattle thanks to a friend’s recommendation and honestly, this place alone might be the reason I come back to Dallas! The gyukatsu was spot-on, just like in Japan!!!Ramen and Sushi roll were also great 👍 As for the staff’s kindness well, let’s just say it deserves its own five-star rating.
Every visit to Nikugen is a delightful experience, leaving me completely satisfied. The restaurant offers a diverse selection of expertly crafted dishes, making it the perfect place to explore new flavors and cocktails. Every meal is prepared to perfection, and the pricing is exceptionally reasonable given the outstanding quality. The service is equally impressive—efficient, professional, and genuinely welcoming. I always request Lorenza as my server; she is kind, patient, and highly attentive to detail. Her recommendations are always spot on, especially when I have trouble deciding. She goes above and beyond to ensure my table is completely satisfied, demonstrating a true commitment to outstanding hospitality. Whether you’re dining with friends, family, or colleagues, Nikugen is an excellent choice for an enjoyable and memorable meal.
An above average, good choice for a Japanese outing. I definitely had a positive experience. The ikageso karaage (fried squid with spicy mayo) was plenty tasty. Great texture on the fried squid with shredded cabbage, dipping it in the spicy mayo made it all come together nicely. The takoyaki (a dish that’s close to my heart) was surprisingly good, and the most authentic dish I tried here. It was incredibly rich; I had a hard time finishing it! It was a little mushy on one of them, but the rest were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, and it captured all the flavors. It reminded me of iyaki my Japanese mother made when I was a child. The miso soup was good, too. It had bits of tofu and seaweed, and the miso was real, not a powder. You can tell if miso soup is real by the little bits it leaves at the bottom of the bowl when you finish it. Miso is, after all, soybeans ground into a paste. The steak combination (I ordered medium well with scallops) was tasty, too. The fried rice in particular was surprisingly good; I ordinarily don’t care for fried rice. It was much more flavorful than I was expecting. The scallops, steak, and even vegetables were all well-cooked, and I cleaned the plate. It’s very rare for me to clean a plate if it has a big portion of veggies on it, which this did (onions, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini). The sauce was a nice touch. I sure wish there was more protein on that dish, it was that good! One scallop was gritty for one bite, but that was it. All the other ones were perfectly clean. The yuzu white peach drink was certainly unique. It wasn’t too much of anything, and captured all the flavors of yuzu and peach. The staff got the job done, and did it well. They were some of the most attentive I had seen, and were always courteous and smiled. I think they could have been just a little friendlier, but the way they are is fine, it’s not something I can really take issue with. The atmosphere is nice too, it’s quite modern with an element of Japanese decor. I do feel like something was missing and it’s all very black, but it wasn’t a problem or anything. A few more decorations to liven up the place would make it perfect in my opinion, but the way it is is just fine. I especially liked the mural on the wall of black mountains with soft-white lights behind them, casting a silhouette of each. The only real complaint I have was the bar counter, it was sticky for some reason, and it bothered me. I asked the staff if I could move to a proper table, which they allowed. So if you come here, until they use a different cleaner for that countertop that doesn’t leave a sticky residue, do yourself a favor and get a table.
I really love their ramen noodles! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was rich and flavorful. The menu offered a great variety, and the appetizers we tried were delicious and came in huge portions. Highly recommend for any ramen enthusiast! Quality food, great prices, and friendly staff!
We ordered the Nikugen ramen with grilled pork belly, and the spicy shrimp garlic ramen which had just the right amount of kick. Both dishes were delicious, with perfectly cooked noodles and well-seasoned broth. The grilled pork bellies were tender and flavorful, while the shrimp was fresh and succulent. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lively, but not too crazy, The decor was modern and sleek. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations.
So good! We got the black garlic ramen (no ginger) and the spicy shrimp ramen. Both were so good. It comes with straight noodle but I always substitute for the curly noodles 🍜 the broth was rich and flavorful, the egg was cooked perfectly. The only thing that I didn't enjoy was how small of a pour you get when you order wine🤔 it was way below a 6 or 8oz pour. I would recommend everyone try this place!
Solid spot for a variety of Japanese dishes. We tried a mix of the steak, sushi, and ramen, and honestly, everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The steak was cooked perfectly to order, and the sushi rolls were generous with the filling. The ramen broth had a nice depth to it as well. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service was so slow during the rush, but the staff was friendly enough. definitely worth a visit if you are craving variety!
