Opinions de Simply south Frisco
The food had authentic South Indian flavors and freshly made. The Thatte idlis were moist and soft and melted in mouth. Their Ghee roast masala dosa was simply delicious. The service by all that touched our table was fabulous. Our server Niharika was very courteous and made our dinner experience very enjoyable.
I recently visited Simply South in Frisco and it completely exceeded my expectations! This place truly captures the essence of South India right here in Texas. We started with the Guntur Thatte Idly – spicy, flavorful, and perfectly steamed with that signature fiery kick from Guntur chilies. It was spot-on and so satisfying. But the real star of the show was the Benne Dosa – out of this world! Buttery, crispy edges with a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center, just like the authentic Davangere style. I couldn't stop raving about it. The ambience is absolutely lit – vibrant, colorful decor that instantly transports you to the streets of South India. It feels warm, welcoming, and full of life. Service was excellent – attentive, friendly staff who made sure everything was just right. And the place was spotlessly clean, which is always a big plus. If you're craving genuine vegetarian South Indian food in Frisco, Simply South is a must-visit. Highly recommend the Benne Dosa and Guntur Thatte Idly – you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to go back for more. ❤️
I just visited ‘Simply South’ and honestly, it felt like eating back home. The food is authentic, flavorful, and made with so much care. You can really taste the traditional South Indian touch in every dish. The South Indian thali is the best here and definitely a must try. It comes with such a beautiful variety sambar, rasam, curries, chutneys, rice, and more and everything tastes fresh and perfectly balanced. It’s one of those meals that leaves you completely satisfied and happy. The place is clean, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the staff are warm and welcoming. If you love South Indian food or want to try a proper thali experience, Simply South is totally worth visiting. Highly recommend!
Amazing food and excellent service! Niharika was wonderful and helped us choose the best dishes. She suggested her favorites. The benne dosa and gobi manchurian and both were absolutely delicious. You can truly taste the quality in the food. If you’re looking for high-quality Indian vegetarian cuisine, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend!
Had a really good breakfast at this South Indian restaurant. The food was fresh, tasty, and perfectly prepared. A special mention to Hema for the wonderful service—she was very polite, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. Her hospitality added a great touch to the whole experience. Overall, great food and excellent service. Will definitely visit again!
The restaurant offers a wonderful ambience, enhanced by the elegant ceiling bells that create a serene atmosphere. The digital wait-time alert is a thoughtful feature that helped us manage our schedule efficiently. The service was exceptional — Niharika was courteous, attentive, and guided us in selecting excellent dishes. The food was outstanding; I especially enjoyed the weekend Bhojanam thali. A highly recommended place that we look forward to visiting again.
Four times in a row! Simply the best vegetarian restaurant in Frisco! Each time err tried different menu items and each time we left with a very satisfying result experience! Suggestion would bee to stick to South Indian cuisine vs trying North Indian or Indo Chinese dishes here (they tasted just ok, compared to their southern counterparts). They seemed to have found a right blend of spice and flavor while keeping the oil level in less oozing zone. Ambience is generally great, except near the bathroom and sink area. Also some servers and cleaners would benefit from cleaner aprons. Definitely reserve ahead of time on their website!
I am obsessed with this vegetarian spot in town. The food is prepared fresh while you wait with top tier ingredients. The atmo inside is adorable. Spacious and well decorated. The staff is the best part. Very helpful and accommodating if you don’t know certain dishes. The Dosa is flawless! Bendu was my server for lunch today and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.
We came here for lunch and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing—those gold utensils and plates are such a beautiful touch. Some dishes even come with free refills, which was a great bonus. Tejaswini was outstanding; she was incredibly kind and sweet and made our experience even better. She truly deserves a raise and would make a great manager!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
The Simply South delivered a wonderful dining experience with great taste, variety, and presentation. We ordered the North Indian thali, which was filling and well balanced, with a nice mix of curries, breads, rice, and sides. The masala papad that came with the thali was fresh and crunchy, topped perfectly with onions and spices—such a simple but satisfying start to the meal. We also ordered podi thattu idly, which was soft inside, lightly crisp on the outside, and coated generously with flavorful podi—absolutely delicious. The chole bhature was another highlight: fluffy bhature paired with rich, well-seasoned chole that tasted authentic and comforting. To end the meal, we had gulab jamun, which was soft, warm, and perfectly sweet. The food quality, portion sizes, and consistency were impressive. The restaurant is clean, family friendly, and well organized, with a calm atmosphere and attentive service. Overall, Simply South Frisco offers excellent North Indian options along with classic South Indian dishes. Highly recommended.
I had a great meal here, especially the South Indian spread; the Dosa and Wada were perfectly crisp, but the Benne Masala Dosa really stole the show with that rich, buttery flavor. Also chole was delish. The Manchurian Soya Chaaps were another surprise hit with a great texture and just the right amount of spice. To finish, the Qubani ka Meetha with ice cream was absolutely elite and easily the highlight of the night. The Dry Fruit Falooda was a bit of a letdown and felt pretty average compared to how strong the other dishes were, but the rest of the food more than made up for it. I’ll definitely be back for more of that Qubani ka Meetha!
Loved our lunch at Simply South Veg! 😊 Weekend Thali was a treat - so many flavors! Thatte idly with sambar and chutneys was a highlight 😋. Jackfruit briyani and veg keema briyani were both hits. Poori channa was delicious too. Gobi 555 and paneer 555 were 🔥! Phool makhny was rich and creamy. Garlic naan and onion kulcha were perfect sides. Lemon soda was refreshing. Great flavors, nice ambiance, and friendly service. Will definitely go back! 👍 Oh, and oops! 😅 Sorry we forgot to take dish pictures!
Had a weekday lunch thaali from simply south. We went with our US clients for a party. The food was amazing. The ambience and service was really great. Hardly do we get a thaali meals, with majority of the dishes tasting above par. Most of the curries, sweets, poori, naan and subjis were awesome. Would surely recommend to my friends and relatives.
We’ve been visiting Simply South since they first opened up at Irving, and couldn’t have been more glad when they decided to open their doors at Frisco as well. The food has always been consistently good (we’ve never had a bad experience with the food in the 15+ times we’ve been here). The service is EXCEPTIONALLY fast - barely a few minutes from when we give our order to when they bring it to our table. Some people may find the atmosphere a bit chaotic because of the crowd they pull, but that only stands testament to their food. I had to refrain from giving them 5 stars for the atmosphere ONLY because they don’t have enough seating for the number of people waiting. I’d like to call out some very good service from Niharika - she’s particularly attentive and checks back with us multiple times to ensure we’ve received what we’ve ordered. She’s also very patient if we need to make changes on the order and it’s within the realm of possibility. This restaurant has becoming me a regular haunt for us, and I’m sure it’ll continue to be so for the foreseeable future. If you haven’t been here yet, be sure to give it a try, and watch out for the spice!
Simply South truly lives up to its name! The dosa and idli are absolutely authentic—soft, fresh, and bursting with real South Indian flavors. Their filter coffee is the perfect finishing touch, rich and aromatic just the way it should be. We also tried the thali, and it was a wholesome, delicious experience with every dish tasting like home-cooked perfection. On top of the amazing food, the ambience is warm, clean, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine South Indian taste!
So far every time we tried has been good. Taste and quality has been superb. Staff is very polite and friendly. Ambience is pretty good and crew keeps the establishment clean. There maybe 15-45min wait time depending on the day/time. Only ding is that the coffee serving was pretty small. Also the chefs specialize is south indian cuisine, so if you are planning on ordering north indian cuisine please check reviews from other customers.
The presentation is top-notch, and the menu is filled with an impressive variety of authentic dishes. One of the biggest highlights is their spread of chutneys – 6 varieties to pair with your meal, and if you include the sambar, that makes it 7! Must-try items include the tangy and soft Pullattu, the wholesome Raagi Dosa, the rich and buttery Benne Dosa, and the comforting Upma Pesarattu. Every dish is made fresh and bursting with authentic flavors. The interiors are so welcoming, creating a warm dining atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit restaurant if you’re craving South Indian delicacies with the best presentation and hospitality!
This place beats the competitive vegetarian restaurants in dallas. Their chutneys are outstanding. Service is good and ambiance is also very peaceful. They were playing traditional indian music which gave a pleasant vibe. Everything we ordered was good. Especially babai ghee karam idli, and filter coffee were the best. Also quality wise they are maintaining high standards. Will def go back on my next trip to dallas.
I visited Simply South today and had an amazing experience! The thali was absolutely delicious, every item was fresh, flavourful, and felt just like a comforting homemade meal. I also tried a few other dishes, and each one was excellent. The food truly captures authentic South Indian taste. If you’re nearby, Simply South is a must-visit spot to satisfy all your South Indian cravings. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great taste and warm hospitality!
Excellent food! From the thaali to the Benne Dosa to the Jackfruit Biryani, it was all really good. The food wasn't oily and felt properly made. Flavors were distinct. The servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Reservations highly recommended - especially on weekends. Weekday walk in's for lunch might still work but better to call ahead still. On weekends, if you want to risk a walk-in, expect an hour of wait time (without a guarantee of a table if you're close to kitchen closing time). To secure a reservation for busy hours, consider booking a few days ahead. One feedback: the staff could do a better job clearing the tables of empty plates as they tended to crowd the tables. For me, this was by far the best South Indian food I've had in DFW. We will be returning for sure!
Simply South Restaurant serves excellent, authentic South Indian food. The dishes are very light, soft, and easy to digest. I especially loved the Ghee Karam Idly and Tatte Idly — they serve them with six varieties of chutneys, which is really impressive. They also offer good South and North Indian thalis, with great taste and quality. Overall, a wonderful place for authentic food, and I would definitely recommend it.
We’ve visited three times and had mixed experiences. Soft launch: Ordered meals — average overall and a bit salty. Second visit (with three families): • Cauliflower Manchurian – good. • Parotta with veg keema – spicy but enjoyable. • Jackfruit biryani – too salty. • Another biryani – again underwhelming and slightly salty. • Filter coffee – not hot at all, not even as warm as a Starbucks cappuccino/latte. The explanation given (due to a past issue serving hot sambar) wasn’t convincing. Refund was appreciated, but authentic South Indian filter coffee should be served hot. Third visit: Veg platter – paneer starters were hard and chewy. We shared feedback with the staff and showed the texture; they were polite and receptive. Overall: A few items are worth trying, but seasoning consistency, serving temperature (especially coffee), and paneer texture need improvement to match the popularity this place already enjoys.
I visited Simply South recently and had a mixed experience. While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the interior is well-maintained (4/5 for ambiance), the food and billing process were disappointing. We ordered North Indian starters, main course sabji, and breads. Despite the hype, the food was just okay (2/5). We ordered medium spice, but it was far too spicy to enjoy. Additionally, it felt like an excessive amount of food coloring or essence was used, which was noticeable in both the taste and the smell. A major concern was the billing. I noticed that they were charging higher prices than what was listed on their menu. I highly recommend checking your bill carefully and verifying the price and total of each item before paying. Overall, it did not live up to the expectations.
Based on the hype, I visited this restaurant and ordered their thali, but the experience was disappointing. The fried okra was extremely oily and had too much batter. The rasam and sambar had very little taste. The only item that was good was the poori with brinjal curry. They served two sweets, but one of them was spoiled, which was very unpleasant. The curd rice was good, but that alone couldn’t make up for the rest of the meal. The ambience was also very noisy, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the food. Overall, it did not meet the expectations created by the hype.
The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere with attractive hanging flowers. The seating arrangement is comfortable, and the sofas and chairs are well color coordinated, which creates a nice visual appeal. We ordered Muddapappu Avakaya Annam, Narasapeta Dosa, Kottu Parota, and three South Indian Thalis. Among all the dishes, Muddapappu Avakaya Annam was comparatively better, but still just average. The Narasapeta Dosa is described as spicy on the menu, but it lacked any noticeable spice. The South Indian Thali was very disappointing. The rice quality was poor, the poori was completely cold, and the curry refills contained mostly oil from the bottom. Overall, the taste was not good, and I would not recommend the thali at all. The biggest disappointment was the automatic gratuity charged for a group of more than five people. The service did not justify adding a gratuity, and this was not acceptable. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations.
Verdict: Not worth the Hype! I was planning to visit this restaurant due to multiple reasons in news for Award, wait time, reservation must, pricey etc. Visited weekday to avoid weekend rush. Did a walking in Frisco location around 9:15 pm, and got table immediately with zero wait time. Decent ambience. I was expecting the sequence - menu, order, water, plates and spoons/forks! But the way I received is , Menu, items I placed order first, with no plates, spoons, water, and their chutneys! I have request each one of it! Ordered 1) Nellore ghee karam idly - Good 2) Crispy Rava onion dosa - Dosa is crispy enough but onions are not fried and wa raw 3) Bisibele bath - looks it’s anshar version mixed veg kichadi! 4) Panner Khama Pulav - they bought Biryani!! When I asked looks it is biryani rice but Pulav rice, the person who bought table was confidently defending that it is Pulav but not biryani! When asked for the person who took order, she confirmed biryani is placed but not Pulav! Upon request replaced with Pulav. 5) My son ordered French friend in South Indian restaurant which is Funny! 6) Soya chaps - Blunder! Don’t order Overall it costed us 80-90$. It this worth for the price , I would say No. Will I visit again - probably No
