Went there for lunch as we were in the area and were looking for some chinese food at a sitdown restaurant. ZHAO STAR bistro, was the nearest and had decent reviews. Seating was comfortable and wait staff was attentive. Good options in seafood and other proteins. We ordered chicken corn soup, (not sweet corn soup), Chicken Lo-mein, shrimp salt and pepper(loved it - can be ordered as an appetizer), spicy eggplant(loved it) Good portion size. 2 diners so we had some to-go boxes and a toal bill of about $55. Overall a great experience.
An American Chinese Classic! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a great American Chinese restaurant! We ordered the Crab Rangoon, chicken Lo Mein,Kung Pao Chicken,General Tso's Chicken, and Beef with Broccoli. Everything was hot, flavorful, and the portions were huge enough for leftovers. The service was fast and incredibly friendly. The place has a cozy, no-fuss vibe that we love. An absolute gem!
Went here for a family dinner night, not knowing what to expect. Lemme break it down. Well, the parking lot on a weekend can get busy, so wear a coat if it's a cold night and you've got to walk a row or two from the car to their front door. So you go in and it is a clean, tidy place with just the right amount of decor to give it the Asian restaurant vibe without being cutesy or kitschy. You'll want to have a seat, so hang tight while the employees bustle and hustle around their busy place and make their way to you. They'll show you to a table and you'll be able to peruse the pages-long, plastic binder menu. Everything is easy to read and understand. You can order by the number if you like, or point and grunt, or just say, like I did, "Salt and Pepper Tofu." Ask for their hot tea or a soda, but don't be expecting any Baijiu or white wine. They are alcohol-free. (Not to worry, there's a great bar just next door.) Anyway, now you've ordered. So begins the wait. And it can seem long or be long, but you can watch the action. Lots of take-out orders, lots of families and couples coming and going. Might want to remind yourself why you asked for a table away from the breezy front door area. Sip that hot tea. The food arrives via efficient motorized robotic tray on wheels. You have your rice, your edamame, your tofu or General Tso's Chicken, whatever. Tuck into the food and get surprised, because dining IN is the way to go. Fresh, hot, flavorful, colorful. Wow! Then they have the steamed bean paste buns for dessert. You'll want to have ready your Corgi butt jokes, peach jokes, flamingo ball jokes, because these things are beautiful, strange, silly, and wonderful all at once. And not overwhelmingly stuffed with bean paste. They're just fun. Conclude your dinner with a box for leftovers like I did, and you have breakfast for the next day. Oh, and there's fortune cookies too! Notes: Service is friendly, though sometimes very rushed and occasionally clumsy. Sitting by the front door can mean gusts of cold or hot air depending on the season, but they do have a decorative screen to help with this.
Excellent dry-fried beef ho fun! The noodles were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of "wok hei" (that smoky stir-fry taste). The portion was very generous, the price felt completely fair for what you get, and the service was attentive and friendly. A truly satisfying meal—five stars without a doubt. I'll definitely order this again!
This was my first time dining here, and it’s right near my home. What a wonderful experience! The staff were so friendly, and they even have robots serving you. The dim sum was delicious ,soup dumplings and the shrimp dumplings — the owner said they make it themselves. Highly recommended!
Bf and I visited for a date night, as he is a huge fan of dim sum, and we had a very nice time here. We ordered our dim sum usuals: green beans, soup dumplings, and chicken fried rice. My bf was enticed also by the peach buns, so we ordered those as well. The green beans were missing the usual garlic, but still were in a nice soy sauce we enjoyed. The chicken fried rice was buttery, well cooked without being overwhelming, and had lots of meat. The soup dumplings were pretty average, but were delightful in the sauce we were given. And the peach buns were adorable and tasted like a homemade baked fruit good. We were also given a complimentary egg roll upon being seated. Overall, we had a pleasant experience here, and the staff was very kind. Definitely among the upper half of dim sum we have tried around here. We will likely be returning!
A very comfy spot for Chinese fare. We ordered our dimsum usuals and we were very satisfied. The fried string beans were well cooked and seasoned, the chicken fried rice was above average, the soup dumplings were perfectly size and came with a flavorful vinegar, and the peach buns were an absolute delight. The atmosphere was calming and the service was great. My only complaint is that they didn't give us chopsticks. Otherwise, this place leaves nothing to be desired.
I'm a very harsh critic of Chinese food because they all are so similar that some just don't seem to try. 90% of Chinese food places, I'd rate as a 5/10 if they're good. Very rarely do i rate them higher. Today was different. We ordered orange peel and sesame chicken with fried rice. First, they have this little robot that comes around with the trays of food. The kids liked it but i thought it was a little gimmicky. Our waitress on the other hand was so friendly and NEVER let our drinks go dry. She was great. The food was actually dang good. All the chicken meals were white meat chicken. They chicken seemed to be cooked fresh with their respective sauces added fresh. The chicken was crunchy, not soggy like so many places. I'm the opinion of wife and kids, this place rates higher than PF Chang's for less money. Speaking of costs, prices were average. Overall we were very happy with the food and have declared this our go to Chinese food place when we crave Chinese. Highly recommended!
Fantastic flavor! The green beans were blistered and spicy, and the tangerine chicken was crispy and tangy. A perfect introduction to this place. Highly recommend!
Food was solid. Service was great and inviting. Really enjoyed the orange chicken.
Second time ordering, just as amazing as the first! The Shrimp Egg Foo Young was delicious and the perfect takeout meal. My go-to spot for American Chinese food.
I had a great experience at Zhao Star China Bistro! The food was amazing — you can really taste how fresh and authentic everything is. Every dish felt like it was made with care. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable. Definitely one of the best spots for authentic Chinese food. I’ll be coming back for sure!
Flavorful food and peaceful setting. We ordered the steamed soup dumplings, excellent. The crazy chicken pan fried dumplings and the beef Dan Dan Noodles 🍜 and 2 sweet teas. We loved everything and will go back again. Thank you!
Great food, it was empty so they served really fast, the mint tea is delicious, and the food too, my only down was the soup, we asked for seafood soup but it looked/tasted more like egg soup, but it was ok. Little robot will make ur day.
The Best Chinese restaurant in Frisco…. We had a great experience of dining at this restaurant a few times now and they never disappoint. The service is excellent by super friendly staff. They do not cut corners on anything. Generous portions with all the condiments and delicious and freshly prepared food every single time. Very nicely decorated for family friendly dining. And the Robot Server is a treat to watch😁 Must go if you like Chinese food.
I ordered a beef and chicken lo main combination and it came with an egg roll. The staff is very friendly and quick to seat you and get your food. Food comes out hot and fresh with great flavor.

The food was excellent. Their soup dumplings are very tasty and the orange chicken tasted super clean. Would highly recommend. The atmosphere is very calm as well. Will be eating here again.

I had to make a 12-hour drive with the flu and didn't want to cook when I got home so I decided to try Zhao Star and I'm so glad I did! I got the scallion pancakes, spring rolls, beef and broccoli, and chicken lo mein and all of it was perfect! The meat was tender, the pancakes and rolls were crispy, and everything was still piping hot when it got it to me. The delivery man was very kind and patient too, I'll be ordering again for sure ☺️
We actually have ordered take out from here 2 times in less than a week bc it was sooo good the first time. Didn’t disappoint the 2nd time either. You won’t regret it. Their chicken in all of the dishes we had is so tender, lean and flavorful!
Zhao Star is our new family spot, delicious food! So happy we found this place and have had a consistent experience every time we get takeout. 100% recommend!!

This is my new favorite Chinese spot. I’m new to TX and have been bouncing around looking for a consistent place that I can get food I love. THIS PLACE CHECKED EVERY BOX. service is great , people are kind, prices are good. I love eating here and now I do it once or twice a week. Can’t say enough great things.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the food much, but it doesn't mean it was bad. Just not for me. I got the honey sesame chicken and chicken dan dan noodles. The dan dan noodles leaked in the bag and onto my car seat due to the crazy amount of sauce in the dish (see pic). It was overall very salty. I drained and threw out 1/2 to 1 cup of sauce in the sink because of how drenched and salty it was. The honey sesame was overall a 4/5. Probably won't be revisiting. Workers are great though

I’ve never seen such a greedy business. I ordered 3 dishes and an appetizer for pickup. I even left a tip. I like to eat my food spicy and since there’s no way to request spicy food in a Chinese restaurant, I count on chili oil to flavor my food. When I asked the lady for chili oil, she gave me one small container. There’s 3 people eating and we ordered 3 dishes. She told me that it would be extra and that the food didn’t come with chili oil. Every single Chinese restaurant I have ever been to has included chili oil because it’s literally a condiment. That’s like charging for ketchup! Needless to say, they have forever lost my business over a 10¢ chili oil. Zero customer service.
