Always delicious food and the wait staff are very helpful and friendly. The catfish and shrimp poboys will give you another reason to live.
This is well worth the time to stop and enjoy. The owners/staff are very personable and will go out of their way to please you. My daughter and I will be back every chance we have.
This place is home style good food, great people come on down and get you a plate of food.
We love this little mom and pop restaurant. The food is delicious, the staff are awesome!!! We will continue to come back!!!
Homemade Orion rings were excellent with the grilled burger enclosed in a jalapeno bun. Our compliments to the chef.
Food was good just a little pricey had eggs, suasage, hash browns, toast and coffee $20 with tip. Good service, clean and pleasant atmosphere if you like old school country.
Tried for first time today. Excellent food. Taste like home cooking but at a restaurant. Customer service was great also! Will definitely go back.....
Not a fancy place, but we had a great breakfast of my tacos and she had a plate with medium eggs and hash browns
Nice place. Everyone was very nice
Nice friendly hole in the wall cafe. Great food.
This place is the definition of southern hospitality! The waitress was so incredibly kind and is such a hard worker. We live a little bits away but will definitely return for a good old home cooked meal.
My wife and I drove out to Ropers for breakfast yesterday (Saturday). It's a small former gas station type of building. Very country and very comfortable. We loved it! The owners have been here during the two floods and covid. Gotta support them for that. I just ordered the standard breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and biscuit. The bacon was a bit too crispy for my taste, but I'll be sure to make a request next time. The biscuit was nice and fluffy. Hashbrowns were crispy. My wife enjoyed her breakfast sandwich. She's very picky with her eggs, but the egg in her sandwich was cooked perfectly. We also ordered a side of biscuit and gravy. It was good as well. Service was excellent and the place is spotless clean. The only issue we had was when a local man came in to pick up something. He was 60ish and was having a very loud general conversation with the people in the kitchen. He was cursing, but not in a mad way. It was just part of his everyday low vocabulary skills on display. We're not saints , but there was a family quietly eating with their children next to us. I'm sure the little girl heard him. Fortunately, he didn't stay long.
Update: can't believe I forgot to mention the cookies! Get em! Gotta love this little slice of country heaven. Unassuming when you walk in, but the greeted with a friendly staff and some delicious food. If you haven't had their breakfast tacos or pancakes, then you are missing out.
Stopped in while driving through Simonton. Couldn't decide what to order so a I grabbed the mushroom swiss on sourdough, and the skrimp po-boy. The burger was excellent and the sourdough bun was very good. The po-boy had great skrimp that were breaded perfectly. Also, the people working there were super friendly. I'll definitely stop in next time I'm in town.
Very good home style cooking! Awesome environment and super friendly staff! Word of advice order ahead of able too. This place is very good and can get crowded at their peak hours. Will return when I work in the area again !
Amazing fried pickle spears with jalapeño ranch. Broccoli rice casserole was awesome and my wife loved the fried shrimp too. Perfect atmosphere for a road side cafe.
Love me some Ropers! Friendly staff at this little convenient store/ comfort food cafe! What to get? My son loves their biscuits and gravy with sausage for breakfast and his favorite meal is the smothered pork chops! (Don’t worry, it’s only occasionally I’ll get him those treats). Another thing you have to try is their fried green beans with the jalapeño ranch! Mmmm sooo good! Their southwestern egg rolls are good too with the same dipping sauce. (Just like Chili’s). I live nearby so I love that I can just pop in and grab whatever I need instead of driving to Fulshear. Thanks Maria and staff for all that you do!
wow! this place sure doesn't look like much, but don't let the gas station look fool you! the service was super friendly and the chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had. if you're looking for a good old fashioned kitchen and fantastic comfort food, Roper's is your best bet.
This isn’t Houston. It’s Simonton TX and the service at Ropers is Great! What a loving place to have a family dinner! Everything we have ordered at Ropers has been great. Right down to the jalapeño ranch dressing! Yum! Just good solid country cooking served by friendly people in a laid back small town atmosphere. Thanks for being there to serve the community. We’ll be back!
The atmosphere was perfect and the food was great. The steak i had was better than Taste of Texas. We ride a motorcycle and the parking was good. Love this place and will make a regular stop there .
Great Food and very affordable! Located in the corner of a small grocery store the food is really good - homestyle cooking. The chicken fried bacon was good but the gravy served with it was FANTASTIC!
I was too anxious to try the chicken fried steak and ate some before I took a picture. I split it with my husband this was our first time. It was great! Better than homemade - which is hard to beat!! The fried okra and broccoli cheese casserole were hot and fresh too. Service with one waitress was fast we didn’t wait too long even though it was busy. We’re definitely going back.
Hands down the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. This is a very nice and clean little restaurant inside of a local country store by Wallis, TX. I highly recommend it :)
What a fun place to have breakfast on a Saturday morning! Everyone was nice, the food was delicious, and it was a fun atmosphere! We will be back!
Please visit Ropers...such a great little place and the drive out there is beautiful.

Great breakfast !!! The biscuits are hands down the best I've ever had, will definitely be back 😋 🙌 👌
I love Roper’s. They’re a community staple from their friendly staff to their great breakfasts, lunch and dinners. I love their fried chicken, chicken fried steaks, and smothered pork chops. And I can grab my pantry staples here as well. This is what a local store should be. Perfect.
This place took me back in time. I reminded me of the little country store where I grew up 70 some years ago. In my country store there was a potbellied stove and the men in the little town gathered around it on a Sunday morning visiting. This small town place had that same feeling. My store did not cook food but the old- timey shelves of supplies felt similar. My breakfast of eggs and bacon was a good start to my day.
Exactly what I expect from a small town cafe: friendly service, cute atmosphere, and great food. We had fried chicken sandwich with mac and cheese and jalapeño burger with tots. It was all delicious!
Cheap, authentic, and delicious. Well mannered staff
Fantastic laid back place to grab a quick lunch. Homestyle meals, served with a smile. I don’t drive by here that often but I am greeted like a regular every time I walk in.
I have always loved Ropers. Came here in high school before catching the bus in the mornings, I'd get coffee and one of Lauren's fresh brownies to munch on. Now I go with my daughter and she has so much fun! Food is great and ample portions, service is great, and there's no denying that home town atmosphere the moment you walk in the door. Daily specials will always pique your interest, and the desserts are wonderful treats!
I love this small country store! Best breakfast from here to Victoria and that’s a fact! This place makes me feel at home (Oklahoma) with there amazing comfort food and bubbly staff. Not to mention there affordable and comfortable so don’t forget to show your appreciation! Thanks for such a great breakfast every time y’all!
Probably the best breakfast spot I've tried. Tacos were great. Pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns were delicious. Food comes out fresh, crispy, but not greasy. Service was great. Asked for a side of extra sauce, and the server brought a big side and included one in our togo order as well. Will definitely be coming back.

The atmosphere and location are excellent. My food was wonderful, patty melt, mashed potatoes, and creamy broccoli. My wife got the chicken dinner and said it was overcooked. We both enjoyed it though
This is a cute place to stop in for breakfast! The food was great! I had the medium breakfast with biscuit an gravy! This place has a lot of history! The coffee tasted burned, but that was the only negative! Overall it was a great experience
First time here and I know I’ll be back! The biscuits are amazing. I had them covered with sausage gravy. Yum! Calories, who cares! The coffee was strong and good, not watery like some places. The service was relaxed which gave my dining partner and me time to chat. My only reason for not giving five stars is that the bathroom needed some attention. All in all it was a really good way to start a day.
Really good food with a laid back atmosphere. Only complaint is service. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone brought us a menu. They didn't take our drink orders at that time, then we had to flag the waitress down to order.

Really slow. We were waiting 15 min to order. Shrimps were good but green beans were overcooked. I am pretty sure kids chicken nuggets were previously frozen. Definitely I will not come next time
I LOVE these types of places and this was a destination lunch for us. This is definitely a local spot as I doubt many folks would travel here just to eat. I got the local vibe when we walked in but, again, my kind of place. There were four of us for lunch on a thurs. Everything was tasty but some of our items where not hot. Seems they "died on the line" waiting to be served. However, if you're looking for a hearty meal at a decent price, you might want to check them out. I could see myself regularly parked at a table or the "bar" if I lived in Simonton.

Service was friendly and helpful. They use soybean oil so I had limited options. I ended up ordering a BBQ baked potato. The meat seemed to have been previously frozen and the sauce tasted weird. The potato itself wasn't cooked thoroughly. They were happy to add chicken instead of beef to my son's nachos and my toddler enjoyed the Mac and cheese, fries, and chocolate chip cookies. Husband enjoyed his hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and okra. My water was never refilled. I wouldn't return but it wasn't the worst.

I'm only giving 2 stars based on service alone. Service was on point. First time there my spouse and I went last week. I got the chicken strips expecting homemade strips from a place like this. The strips were obviously processed and frozen, the ranch was horrible. It was like they went to a store and bought the cheapest they could find. My wife ordered 2 eggs, breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit was the only thing good from this place. The potatoes were so over peppered they were inedible. The owner I'm assuming came over and asked how things were, and we said they were fine. It was our first time here, they were slammed so we didn't want to hold him up. So I tried it again today. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich which was under seasoned and tasteless. I got fried zucchini which was also obviously frozen as well. I'm sorry, but I had really high expectations from how busy they are and the reviews. Also that they are a country cafe of sorts. You expect much better food. I have to say, we definitely won't be back.
We stopped by hoping we'd found a special little place; however, we were disappointed. We ordered a hamburger and a shrimp poboy. The hamburger had no seasoning at all and tasted very plain. The shrimp poboy wasnt' bad although the shrimp were a little salty. There are better places in the area to eat and we're going to mark this one off our list.
Never order the 'Baked Potato'! You'd just be giving away money for nothing. You could probably buy the same ingredients they have on the shelf and come away with a more satisfying potato prepared at Home. Other than that, it's clean and the employees are very friendly.
Service was fine, but the burger was terrible. I don't know what kind of meat that was and the breading on the onion rings is way to heavy.
Place sucked. 8:30 on a Wednesday morning. Me and one other table of 4 in cafe. Waiter forgot to bring my drink. Took 25 minutes after I ordered food to have food delivered. Orderd B and G ,eggs, hash-browns. Restroom was gross. Old lady cooking the food looked miserable and was grumpy towards waiter.
I have been there a few times for Breakfast , it was good and no complaints , I went for a late lunch 11/08/2025 , arrived at 2:40 PM , I saw they closed at 3. I tried to place my order and was told " Everything was already was put up " . This is wrong , if you close at 3 , you should take orders before 3. I guess what they mean is , we lock and are gone at 2:59. I drove 40 minutes to go eat there. Last time I will go there.
Eggs were over cooked, sausage was burned to a crisp hashbrowns were torched outside and almost raw inside. Had pancakes which were almost burnt
