Opinions de Rudy & Paco Galveston
Always the best food and experience. I love how the treat you and learn your name. You walk in and feel special. And the food has always been amazing!
This restaurant serves absolutely delicious food but what really sets it above all others is the incredible service. From a warm, genuine welcome when you enter through the thanks as you depart, the servers, everyone of them, are thoughtful, professional and polished. As I was squinting to see their menu at our lovely meal last night, I was given a discreet clip-on light to help me see. Even with our large party of 10+, the service was smooth as silk - especially the incredible feat of setting everyone’s plate in front of them at the exact same time. And if you’d like to take left-overs home, they are removed to the kitchen, nicely packaged, put in an elegant bag, then returned to you. This is Michelin-star service provided by an incredible staff - your special touches are noticed!
Galveston is my ancestral home with many close relatives still residing there. Members of our family visit often and a trip is NEVER complete without visiting Rudy and Pacos. Food is the most delicious anywhere and their cocktails are worth the trip. I especially want to commend the bartender and server on Friday, January 29, 2006, who were on duty from 1-2 pm. I should have caught their names. My family has patronized Rudy and Paco's since opening, always receiving personal attention as if we were their favorite customers. The two gentlemen that day were particularly caring and hospitable, cheering us up on a day that we were feeling low. That is why when Paco greets us with "Welcome Home," we wonder why it took us so long to return! Best establishment on Galveston Island!
Table side shaken martini, white table cloths, plantains w/ chimichurri, filet cooked to perfection… this sweet little restaurant one of my faves for many years. Thanks Paco for keeping the standard high and tight. Bruno took excellent care of us. We will be back.
We've been coming here for years mainly for a celebration or for a special treat. Birthday dinner anniversary. Paco's shrimp tacos and the ropa vieja is the order that we get about every time. Consistently good every time. The drinks are delicious also they have a full bar. They start out the meal with fried plantains and salsa you're constantly checked on staff is great and accommodating. You might even get a glimpse of Paco himself and his natural habitat. Lol
Samantha was our server who did an amazing job of being attentive to any needs without being overbearing. It was my wife’s birthday and the meal was nothing less than phenominal! I had the red snapper and my wife had a meat free pasta dish. I have eaten fish in many countries and cannot say I have had a better prepared fish anywhere. We will go back.
Outstanding restaurant for special occasions. The service here is well above most other restaurants. The attention to detail is everywhere. The food is fine dining yet the portions are large which is awesome because my wife and I like to eat! All of the food we had was outstanding: avocado salad, empanadas, vuelve a la vida, plantain crusted redfish with scalloped potatoes and vegetables, chocolate delicioso and bread pudding. On the bread pudding: I never thought I would ever find a a bread pudding even close to that of Parrain's in Baton Rouge; this matched it!!
Rudy and Paco's will forever be ingrained in our hearts as our favorite Anniversary restaurant. From immaculate plates of food to flawless service this place is beyond amazing. Every single bite of food is made to make you just melt into your seat. Adding perfectly crafted cocktails along with a huge selection of alcoho fantastically compliments an outstanding evening with my Wife. If I had to summarize Rudy and Paco's in one word, it would be: Phenomenal. As close to perfect as I have ever had.
YOU. MUST. EAT. HERE!!! As soon as you walk in the door the vibe is elegant. It feels warm. Inviting. Paco walks around and fills up your water. Very nice man. And his manager, we called him the tall man, was generous. We had the tower appetizer with tempura lobster tail, crab cake and shrimp in a garlic sauce. Main course was the filet, scalloped potatoes and green beans. You don't need a knife for the filet. It's just amazing. The poblano soup, OMG! Dessert was creme brulee, I'm salivating just writing this review!🤤 The service is off the chain. People at the table are all served at once, drinks and food all night long. If you haven't eaten here, I 100% will go back! TRY IT
Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had dining out in a very long time. Reservations, dress code, no kids, perfect ambience, seamless service, and quality food. We were served their plantain chips with two sauces after sitting down. My husband and I shared two plates, the vuelva a la vida, and the Ojo de Castillo. The calamari, shrimp, crab claws incorporated in the linguini pasta was spot on, with a good spiced heat complimenting the entire dish. The steak was cooked a little more than our medium rare preference, however the taste was great and still manageable to chew. The sourdough bread served is absolutely delicious, perfectly crusted on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was extremely attentive; water glasses never hit the bottom, our silverware was updates based on what we were eating, and very tall man dressed more than the servers approached us for our experience. One of the most wonderful surprises were the synchronized serving done when serving our meals. I felt like I was on a private yacht and it was just the two of us. The interior is tastefully done, the lighting is not offensive, and had we not eaten a larger meal earlier we would have probably enjoyed the crab cake and some cocktails. Such a magical treat on this island. Side note: adhere to the dress code. Most negative reviews are ladies that dress think they look cute in a jumper, but when your knee caps show, it’s a no-go.
This was one of most memorable meals I have ever experienced, everything about this experience was over the top. Watching the waiters and staff was like a ballet, the service was outstanding. Top notch restaurant. Flavors were incredible, portions were large and the Crab Cakes were tasty and plentiful, a meal in itself. Well done, great evening.
A Gentleman at our hotel recommended Rudy and Paco Restaurant and bar and we are so happy he did. The food was very good and the selections on the menu were nicely varied. We found the atmosphere to be very nice, classy without being stuffy. Our server was excellent very friendly and very attentive. This was a really nice dining experience for us.
Rudy & Paco Restaurant is a true gem in every sense. From the moment we stepped in for our 5th anniversary, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting ambiance that set the perfect tone for our celebration. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who ensured every detail was taken care of. The food was a culinary masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors that delighted our taste buds. We were pleasantly surprised by a special anniversary dessert, that made our evening even more memorable. The owner's presence and personal touch added to the charm, showcasing a genuine passion for hospitality. Rudy & Paco is not just a restaurant; it's an experience worth cherishing and recommending to anyone seeking exceptional dining and unforgettable moments.
We had an amazing dinner this evening at Rudy & Paco. I enjoyed the baked red fish topped with lump crab, broccolini, and au gratin potatoes. My wife had the plantain-encrusted chicken breast served over a black bean sauce with queso blanco, maduros, yucca, and sour cream. The food was simply outstanding and was perfectly topped off with a pecan ice cream ball for dessert. The highlight of the evening was when Paco Vargas, the owner, stopped by our table. The service provided by Andy was exceptional—some of the best I've experienced at a restaurant in a long time. He even took some great pictures for us to remember the evening. If you're ever in G-Town, make sure to stop by here for a meal, and don’t forget to make reservations in advance. Highly recommended!
Impeccable service and delicious food!! Our party of 8 came in for lunch. We were seated promptly and drinks served. The waiter was knowledge and made recommendations. The fried plantain chips came out with two sauces. Yummy! I didn’t get pics of every dish but what really impressed me was the level of service - truly white glove synchronized service. With a large party that is extra impressive! We will most definitely return soon!
Awesome restaurant. Great food, great service, we'll definitely come back on our next trip! The owner was there and welcomed us to the restaurant, and he made his rounds to make sure everyone was happy. I love this level of passion. Great Latin American food, with a few authentic and amazing Nicaraguan dishes. Try the crab cakes and empenadas!
We came here on our honeymoon- it was a referral from the B&B we stayed at and stayed the night in Galveston before we went on a cruise. It was a great ambiance in there, was nice to dress up (they have a dress code) and the food was great. I got a spicy seafood pasta. They even threw in a complimentary dessert as a congratulations!
Not what it use to be...... Went last night with friends, Ahi tuna was tough and under-cooked. They served brussel sprouts(!) as the entree side dish.......Who eats brussel sprouts??!! Wines are way over-priced. The place is so dark it is nearly impossible to read the menu. There are lots of better options in town. Not going back.
