Opinions de Fisherman's Wharf Galveston
Stopped in here waiting for our carnival cruse to begin. And glad we did. Had a good time here. Service was excellent. This is a great place to relax, have a few cocktails and enjoy really good food. The decor and atmosphere is matched only the frendly and welcoming staff. Great scenery, refreshing drinks, and tasty food options. Who could ask for more. Highly recommend. Will be back.
My husband and I just dined at Fisherman’s Wharf and had the best experience! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor — exactly what you hope for when you come here. But what truly made our night special was our server, Lake. He was attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcomed from the moment we sat down. He checked on us at just the right times, had great recommendations, and brought such a positive energy to our table. Excellent service can turn a good dinner into a great one, and Lake definitely did that for us. We’ll absolutely be back!
Visited the historic area of Galveston and this place is right on the water. Provides free parking for 3 hours and just the ambiance of the restaurant is a must see. The food is good, ask for their specials. The service was great! This is great for a party or 2 or 10.
Seafood story follow up :) Service and atmosphere: Another visit another great experience. Service was excellent! Atmosphere was very good in this clean and well located restaurant. Food and drinks: Kudos to our server who brought us warm bread with butter to snack on even though we didn't order it. That was a very nice gesture! Tasty food and good drinks all around after that. Food was well presented and well cooked. The flavours and seasonings were spot on. Pricing: $$/$ - dinner for two with drinks (no appetiser nor dessert) came to $100.
Wonderful dining experience. Broiled Red Snapper was fabulous as well as the Red Fish. Make sure to save some room the Root Beer Bread Pudding! (I don't usually like bread puddings, but this stuff is amazing!) Nice atmosphere and a great view overlooking the pier and bay.
This was our first visit to Galveston, and we selected Fishermen's Wharf for our lunch, which proved to be a delightful experience. Our server, Becky, was truly exceptional. Both the cuisine and the ambiance were splendid.
We had an awesome dinner last night. Lake was our server and he was great! He was on point! He even answered our bird question lol. Definitely would go again if we were visiting Galveston
Becky was amazing. 10/10 we felt that she was attentive the entire time, our drinks never ran below half, she was sweet, and the food was great. we will be returning. (pictured, shrimp kisses!! 10000/10!!)
Fisherman’s Wharf Galveston, TX. One of the best seafood restaurants in Galveston, Fisherman’s Wharf is renowned for the freshest fish and seafood specialties. signature seafood combination platters, savory chicken dishes, pastas and perfectly prepared steaks. Ideally situated next to the Historic Strand District. Located about 50 miles southeast of Houston, it's a popular resort city with attractions like The Strand Historic District, Moody Gardens, and Schlitterbahn Waterpark, and holds significance as the birthplace of Juneteenth. A major cruise port and popular destination with millions of visitors annually.
Let me start y saying I'm not a fish person lol. My fiancé really wanted to try this place out. We are from Phoenix, AZ and here for a cruise. I was bummed there wasn't more non seafood options. There was a pasta dish, a hamburger, chicken and steak and that's all you have to pick other than some salads if you are not a fan of eating critters from the sea. I got the Texas Way u and it was really good. Cooked exactly how I wanted. Our waitress was sweet, seemed like she might be new and our food was slow to come out (the people next to us got there AFTER us and got their food before we did with a different waitress) but we still appreciated her and she gave good service! The vibe is great. Really cool decor throughout and a ship right outside of you want to eat outside and enjoy views like we did. They have deterrents in place to keep the birds from mooching off your plate which was nice but it does take from the view, including the battleship across the way lol Overall great experience and we would go again
1st time here, very friendly staff. We were sat right away, greeted by Amber our server within minutes. We split the Wharf seafood platter with additional side of onion strings! So much food! Everything was cooked perfectly. And THEN, then we had the Root Beer bread pudding! So delicious, save room you want to have the bread pudding!
We came to Fisherman’s Wharf as part of our experience at the Dickens on the Strand Victorian themed festival. Due to a miscommunication one half of our reservation was late by a significant amount. The first half of us sat and ate and waited for the other half. The staff were extremely polite and professional. Very welcoming. The inside was beachy themed bht really nice classy kind of place. Outside was ideal seating to see the water and harbor and comings and going’s there. It was nice and quiet at the time we went (not loud restaurant music or large groups of people) The bathrooms were clean. The food was very tasty. The season their fries nicely, I had fried shrimp and my husband had a mixed platter with steaks and such and it was all good. For kids menus they had hamburgers, grilled cheese, chicken strips, shrimp, fish or chicken and fish plates. They may change the menu but it seemed good typical kid options. Pricing was good, to be expected for a sit down place. A little more expensive than fast food but not overpriced in my opinion. If you sit outside you can see the Elissa which is a really great rare historical tall ship to pay to go on to see. But don’t leave your food too long in case a hungry gull or crow flies by. It does say to please not feed the birds because it will draw more attention for all the birds and make outdoor eating more difficult for the guests and owners. We did make reservations due to the festival but it seemed unnecessary. However, please do what you think is best for your circumstances. I did not bring our stroller inside but probably could have for some of the seating areas if it was a small stroller. I don’t think it was necessary to bring. The outdoor chairs were a large plastic chair at a good height for adults and kids. Lovely experience!
Melissa was an outstanding server! She celebrated everything with us while we were there for my husband's 50th birthday! The only thing better than our food, was our server ❤️ The crab stuffed Tilapia was bursting with flavor, and the Rockefeller Oysters were the best I've ever tasted! 😋
Wonderful experience that started with great cocktails/mocktails, we then had several excellent appetizers (fried calamari, shrimp cocktail, and lobster bisque. The stars of the evening were the freshly prepared entrée. Tilapia stuffed with lump crab, salmon, and lobster/crawfish pasta. Our servers were very kind and quite attentive without being bothersome. What a wonderful evening! They also asked if you have any food allergies..to help you choose your food.. it was very thoughtful
Had a great Dinner! Evan took great care of us! My wife and I shared the Steak/Shrimp and 2 Lobster Tail Dinners. The food was excellent cooked and the Rootbeer Pudding Cake had a piece of chocolate with the logo on it. Everything was great. It was nice sitting out on the balcony. Seen dolphin fins and a jelly fish in the water.
🌟 Fisherman’s Wharf is an absolute gem! We made reservations here for our last night in Galveston, and the experience couldn’t have been more perfect! From start to finish, everything was wonderful, and we absolutely adored our waitress, Amanda L. Our table ordered shrimp with a loaded baked potato, the Wharf Salad with grilled tuna, and clam chowder, while our 3- and 5-year-olds had the fried fish kids’ meals. The 5-year-old was thrilled by the red fish on display in the front of the restaurant and insisted she wanted that exact same fish for her meal. Amanda played along so sweetly, spinning the story that the fisherman caught “Salt” (as our 5-year-old named the fish) and cooked it just for her. The magic in her delivery made the whole meal a joy! Watching our little one happily eat up her fried fish, even with her kid-sized appetite, was priceless. The fresh-baked rolls were warm, fluffy, and absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and served with such care. The ambience at Fisherman’s Wharf was truly unique and made for a memorable dining experience. It’s such a neat place, and we could absolutely see ourselves coming back again. Huge thanks to Amanda and the whole team for making our last night in Galveston so special! 🌟 Highly recommend! 🌟
Upon arriving, the hostess wanted to sit my mom and I in a dark area away from the view for some reason. I asked to be sat near the windows and the request was granted. Our server was kind and attentive. I ordered grilled shrimp with sides of rice pilaf and spinach. The shrimp wasn’t hot off the grill but it was still good. Overall I enjoyed the views, atmosphere and food. Note on parking: the restaurant will validate parking for up to 3 hours. Just have your license plate ready.
Taking a cruise and decided to stop here. Staff were friendly and attentive. I had a bowl of gumbo. Food was served about 10 minutes later. Bread is served prior free but is not very good. A sour bread would work better for this establishment. Lots of pictures and memorabilia are on the walls. We shared a bread pudding dessert which was also good.
Nice seafood spot by the port. Our view included the nearby cruise ship along with other marina boats. This restaurant is a two-story and spread out space with inside and outside dining options as well as private party. I appreciated the simple menu focused on classics and their use of fresh ingredients. It seems a little pricey to charge $21 for a single crab cake appetizer but otherwise their prices were fair.
When we come to Galveston we always stop at The Fisherman’s Ward Seafood Grill. We love watching cruise ships, dolphins, and birds from the outside seating. Consistently good it’s always a good time. I had the Greek salad with grilled shrimp. While the shrimp were perfectly prepared the salad left a bit to be desired. It was heavy on feta and dressing and sparse on olives, cucumbers and tomatoes. My husband had the fish and chips, along with a bowl of gumbo. Both were excellent.
The food to me was just ok. It was a really nice atmosphere with us having dinner literally right next to the water but yeah, average at best. The server was great and the whole parking situation was seamless! The server brought out ice cream for my husband’s birthday. It was very nice but I am not sure if I would go back.
We had the grilled seafood platter, grilled redfish and the seafood pasta dish. The redfish and seafood pasta were very good. The platter was very good except for the crab cakes, they were very salty and under cooked. The green salad was average. The red sangria was excellent! We enjoyed the outdoor dining, great view of the battleship USS Texas. They give you 3 hours of free parking, this place is very close to the Strand.
Birds came to bug us outside. One even stole something off my plate. Good Shrimp kisses!! My drink was weak, I had Malibu and pineapple. Didn't even get a slight buzz and I'm not a regular drinker. They did give me a sundae for my birthday. Thank you! Port was fun to watch. We saw some dolphins surfacing in the channel.
We ALWAYS have stopped here to eat when we come to Galveston. It's on the water with good views-there is a tall ship docked next door and you can see the USS TEXAS a WW II Battleship in restoration mode across the Port of Galveston. We didn't see any dolphins this time but we have in the past -so 5 stars for ambiance. The service was very good and we tipped accordingly. Our main server was attentive and helpful. The gentleman that assigned us our table (waterside) must have (or should have) known the 4-top would have the slowly setting sun shining on us no matter which seats. It became so hot I was pouring sweat down my face and my clothes became saturated. It was uncomfortable for both of us but at that time there weren't other open options. =3 stars. We have always ordered fish & seafood here and this time was no exception. I also ordered a Mango Mule which didn’t taste like mango or a mule….. We felt the food just wasn't up to par based on our other experiences here. The heat didn't help.... But we will try another restaurant next time. Kind of sad since it was a place we both looked forward to. Stars for food= 2. In conclusion we have Fisherman's Wharf a total of 3.2 STARS.
