Opinions de Sunflower Bakery & Cafe Galveston
You just can't go wrong with anything you choose. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. We had excellent service. Fresh hot coffee. Whipped cream berry crepes were the special. My daughter could only eat one. Huge portions. I had eggs sunny up, several pieces of thick cut bacon, homemade breakfast potatoes and and English muffin, that was enough food for 2 people! This was described as the "lil" breakfast! The bakery selections looked amazing. I opted for some take home cookies for my mom. Beautiful start to any day. Congratulations to Sunflower Bakery & Cafe for years of extreme high quality, and consistency.
We absolutely loved our visit to Sunflower Bakery & Cafe while vacationing in Galveston! It’s easy to see why locals adore this place. There are so many options to choose from, and I especially loved that you can create your own breakfast just the way you like it. The fresh bread and bakery items were incredible. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. The staff were wonderful and served every guest with genuine respect and kindness, which made us feel truly welcome. Great service, delicious food, and such a warm atmosphere—definitely one of the best parts of our trip!
Absolutely LOVED this place. Immediately was seated. Servers were very attentive and super nice, didn't have to wait long to receive our food. Food was ABSOLUTELY delicious 🤤 I got the eggs Benedict. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. 1000% will come again and recommend.
Wow! I've never had French toast this tasty! The Sunflower Smash was strong and delish. The variety of bakery goods made choosing difficult, that's a good problem. This place is PACKED on a Sunday brunch shift, but the staff is attentive and friendly. I had the waiter with one arm and he turned me on to the strawberry butter - game changer on the French toast. Great guy, excellent server. 10/10 will come back next time I'm here, it's worth the wait.
We chose the breakfast and brunch menu instead of lunch and we received well presented and plentiful plates consisting of fresh and tasty entrees. The atmosphere is a bright and upbeat. Our server was welcoming and helpful, aquainting us with their offerings on our first visit. Outdoor seating is available. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The food is amazing!! My family is from Arkansas and we have ate there both times we have went to Galveston. You won't regret it!
Stopped for breakfast with the family on a Sunday morning at 8 am. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Coffees were always full. Food is excellent and reasonable prices. I had the special surf and turf Benedict with lump crab meat and filet mignon. It was excellent! There is a reason this place has such good reviews and feedback!
Food is good and it comes out very quick! Service is good but sometimes you do see the waiters playing around. Waiting a while to get their attention. Restroom is very dirty though. Would not recommend. They have different desserts, they all looked good. This place is a must to stop at during your visit in Galveston.
Find this place through Google, decided to give it a try based on food photos and location. First time going after our debarkment. Loved the small cozy atmosphere, very clean and welcoming. Friendly staff. Food was appealing and delicious. Everthing looked fresh and amazing in the café/ bakery. We will be returning for maybe a weekend road trip from Houston!😚
If you come to Galveston and don't go here, you are missing out! We are breakfast here and had crab cakes benedict and salmon and eggs and they were both AMAZING! After you eat breakfast, you have to head over to the bakery and grab a loaf of their fresh bread and a dessert (or three). We were staying at Crystal Beach and we loved it so much we came across the ferry again the next day and got more dessert!
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT! I WENT 2 DAYS IN A ROW ! BOTH TIMES 5 STAR SERVICE FROM THE TIME WE WALKED IN UNTIL THE TIME WE LEFT ! MR. FRANKO THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The first time we went out server JOHN (ARM). i hope i didnt get his name wrong. This man get his own 5 STARS! Again THANK YOU ! I WILL BE COMING BACK!!! This is one of the BEST if not THE BEST RESTAURANT on this Island.
Local and tourist favorite. I got the key lime pie which was good, very large strawberry topped, strawberries are out of season so it was more for show than taste. My date got the raspberry cheese which she thoroughly enjoyed. It was off season so it wasn't that busy but there was a large group ahead of us at the pastry counter so it took a while for us to order. Otherwise it was everything you would expect at a local cafe bakery in Galveston.
This seems like a local spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. There are a lot of dishes on the menu and since there's a bakery here a lot of baked goods like bread and cinnamon rolls. A lot of wait staff so there is good table service. It seemed like a clean restaurant. Coffee was average.
Wonderful food and service. We started with the grilled cinnamon roll. I had the chicken and biscuits; my husband ordered the crab cakes and eggs. Our server, Geraldo, was perfect! He anticipated our needs without being in our faces. We stopped at the bakery on our way out and picked up some deliciousness! Wow! This place is amazing😊
I'm from Wimberley, Texas and my travel partner is from Chicago. We meet every year in Galveston. This time we decided to act like a local and we ask where to go for breakfast. Several mentioned The Sunflower Bakery and Cafe. The first time there we did eat breakfast. While there we looked at the bakery products and decided to come back for lunch and eat the cherry cheese cake. It was amazing. I'm sure we will go back the next time we are in Galveston
To cut right to the point, this place is just spectacular. Simple, comfort food, executed incredibly. My partner and I loved the decor and ambience, and everything was so incredibly charming. The portions were quite good for the price, but the quality of the dishes were so incredible. The grilled cinnamon rolls are fortunately as good as they sound.
Went here for breakfast as we left for our trip home. Found this place via Instagram and we're we're not disappointed. Food was very good. Potatoes were amazing. Bacon was a bit over cooked but other than that a great food. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Parking was fairly easy. The restaurant is deceptively big. Very glad we stopped in.
Wasn’t expecting to be thoroughly impressed with this bakery. The food was delicious. The pancakes and waffles were fluffy and made just right. I customized my omelette with chicken, spinach, cheese, and tomatoes. The bacon was crispy and the potatoes were tasty. I like my potatoes made with a little crisp and softness, it was so good. I ordered a hot chai tea with lavender syrup, loved it. The server was helpful in recommending I try the lavender syrup, I think I found a favorite. And I ordered the infamous grilled cinnamon roll to go. You’ve got to try it. It tastes exactly how it sounds. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Eating outside is always a vibe on sunny days. Be sure to check out the bakery for all the delicious goodies they offer.
Stopped into this place on a Sunday morning. I had the oyster and Benedict and the wife had the bread pudding French toast. We also had a few coffee latte drinks. The food was amazing. Can't believe I did know about this place and it's 15 minutes from my house. This is a must for now on. The waiter was excellent and the view was very nice with a tropical feel. We out out side and loved it. We will 1000% be back to this place.
I was referred by my coworker and I’m so glad I checked this place out. What a delightful place! You’re gonna have to wait bc that’s just life but it’s worth it. The server was friendly, he made great recommendations and The food was delicious. We got the Waffle & Eggs with a side of potatoes and the Chicken and Waffles. The waffles were amazing, their homemade strawberry butter is out of this world and did i mention the potatoes. Not even remotely sure what they did to them to make them as good as they were. Oo and their strawberry lemonade is made in house and makes a delectable mimosa. And before i left i checked out their bakery side and better believe i left with some. Wont disappoint, go check it out.
We were in Galveston and saw this on Google, had good reviews and decided tontey it. well reviews weren't wrong, great place for breakfast/ Brunch! servings are huge and numerous drinks to choose from. If you go, expect a short wait but worth it. Had the big breakfast with 3 eggs, ham steak and pancakes.
This is some of the best breakfast on the island. There are so many different options depending on what you would like. There is waffles, pancakes, biscuits, pastries, and so much more. Everything was absolutely amazing. We were met with a short wait time on Sunday morning but it went by very quickly. Service was great and the food didn’t take that long to get out. I got the waffle with whipped cream and berries, it was delicious. The whipped cream was home made, rich and creamy. And all the berries were fresh and there were plenty of them. If you are looking for a breakfast spot, make sure to stop by, you won’t regret it! We can’t wait to come back!
I had the yogurt and fruit bowl, with biscuits and strawberry butter as a side. We also had the ham and cheese quiche, with lattes. All were excellent. Probably the best bakery on the island.

Came on a Saturday morning and had about a 30-minute wait. Ordered the big breakfast and the chicken and waffles with two iced coffees. Iced coffees were forgettable but pancakes for the star of the show today. Lots of flavor and spice. Restrooms were a little grimy but functional. I would return!
