Truly the best BBQ in the world, by far! Quality meat, well-fermented kimchi, fresh salad and other side dishes, reasonable price, and the best frozen yogurt! The best part about the yogurt is that it's FREE! I come all the way from LA Korea Town, and this is as good as it gets! The servers try, although they are quite busy. This place is happening, for a reason. I love the porrage, dwenjang jjigae, and soju! Simply the best... It's even better now that it has been renovated!

Star BBQ is a solid spot for KBBQ in Ktown Garden Grove! First, free parking is a big win, and the restaurant itself has a nice entrance, is super clean, and has high ceilings, so you don’t feel cramped or suffocated like in some other KBBQ places. The food is well-seasoned, and the salad was good. Highly recommend the lemonade, it’s surprisingly good! The only downside was the corn cheese, which came out cold, and the cheese wasn’t melted anymore, which was a bit disappointing. There’s no reservation, so you just have to show up and wait in line, but the staff is friendly and keeps things moving. Definitely a great spot for group gatherings if you’re in K-town Garden Grove! Would come back for sure. 4.5 out of 5

A very popular and great KBBQ AYCE that's been around forever. They have great selection of some tasty and quality meats. The biggest downside? A weekend dinner for a party of 4 might have you wait an hour or more. We tried a ton of different types as you should, but ended up sticking to mostly the brisket and tongue. If you can pay with cash and you get that 10% off and free soft drinks lol Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 7/10

The restaurant offers a unique dining experience that is not easily found in Garden Grove, and its closure would leave a void in the local culinary scene. Those who have dined at Star BBQ know that it is not just about the food, but also the experience of grilling your own meat and sharing delicious banchan with friends and family.

First family kbbq in over a year. Wow!! So glad we picked Star. The meat was delicious and tender. The sides are tasty. Service was awesome. We love our servers. Everything was super efficient. One small drawback is the octopus. It wasn’t the one we usually had and didn’t tasted as good. But the other meats make up for it. Ohh and because of covid, no more free ice cream. Tips: we had to wait an hour because we didn’t anticipate the wait. So call ahead of time to put your name down.

Great meat choices and good cuts.they as well have great happy hour, get a beer and second one for 1 cent. They dont offer any seafood, however they have really good choices of beef and pork;plus great side orders, from fried rice to steam egg.

At first upon entering the facility, no greeting or smiles, just a tablet to enter your name and phone # for the wait list. The cashier I see at the front may have not noticed me entering the info, even though i am the only person at the entrance, since I was asked directly, "have you signed in" in a stern voice with a slight anger to her face, no hi or welcome to star, maybe she has had a rough day? I said "yes", she replied, "what's your name, I don't see it, I told her my name and she said, "are you sure you signed in? I said again, "yes", I even went to look at the tablet and saw the name there. "Oh now I see it, it must be slow".... I didn't say anything, first time here and the impression is that the employees must not like their position, if so they shouldn't be the first person to greet guests that are observing as I. Her name was "Ann". Anyways, , we only waited 5 mins. A waiter escorted us to our table, we informed him it was our first time and he explained how their restaurant has a 3 order per at a time process. Of course you het your side dishes and instruments for cooking. Food was adequate, not too sugary or salty, just right, depending on your meats ordered. Service is great with the waiter, his mae was "Joseph". The yogurt was just two flavors but refreshing after all that meat you hust ate. I liked that they have large tables for plates and drink space, some places you have no room for any of your beverages. Overall, a good place for family to dine, not my favorite but good price for the two nemu options. Ours was $32/ person the other was $28/person. I would ONLY give it a 3 star due to first impression of the cashier, if she could be nicer and friendlier, I would give a 4. Best surprise that wasn't told was that if you pay cash, it's 10% off your total check/bill, this I liked but they should inform the patrons .

Honest review (4/19/23) forgot to post haha was sitting in my drafts **put your name on the yelp waitlist in the front (doesn't work on the app) & pay in cash for 10% off entire order and a free beverage Soft service ice cream the strawberry taste like gogurt :) I may be pretty picky, but yeah. I would say that the quality does not match the price; however, it is an AYCE kbbq restaurant so yeah. We waited about 30-40 mins before we got seated after putting our names on the yelp waitlist. (You have to go in person) I have mixed feelings about the grill, but overall it was good. If I had to pick I would recommend the brisket, tongue (only some parts were decent), marinated beef rib, and boneless beef short rib. They weren't amazing, but it was better than I thought. I would not recommend the bottom sirloin cause it did not taste like kkotsal and small intestines. The banchans were mehh. I only liked the radish and salad. We tried the soybean soup and the soondubu which were decent and complimented the meats which I would recommend. They have a good amount of space inside and the grill is scraped when it gets too burnt so ask a server to clean it for you :)) There is also a restroom near the entrance. Taste 6/10 Visual 7/10 Texture 7/10 Service 8.5/10 I, personally, don't know if I would come back cause it's not worth it for me. But yeah I usually prefer by the portion places :)

Every Korean BBQ restaurant has its ups and downs. The service here was amazing, which is always a plus in my book.. The food was good too but aside from rice there were no noodles of any kind unless in a soup that had a fishy taste to it. This location was pretty big so they could accommodate a lot of people. The part that I keep thinking of was when we walked up to the building, right in front of the door was a syringe 💉 just laying there 😳. The food itself is great, high quality beef, chicken, pork, and octopus. 18 dollars for all you can eat (option B), or 24 for option A (the only difference is a few additional items on beef and octopus). Apart from the food, I wasn't impressed with the service and the wait time, especially compared to Red Castle which I've been to quite a few times. An hour and a half wait time, then by the time we do get seated, another 10 minutes before getting served. Then our orders had been either wrong or double ordered quite a few times. The staff was very kind, just not very efficient. If the service improves, I'll definitely be back. Otherwise, I'll just go to another KBBQ.
