This is my go to for deep fried bun bao. I include a picture of the menu you can choose anything on the menu to be deep fried for an additional $3. Their is good and the price is fair.

The steamed pork buns with quail eggs and the steamed chicken buns with quail eggs are really good. The xa xiu (bbq pork) and the custard buns are just ok.

They have really great banh bao. The rumors about it being one of the best banh bao place in town are true! My mother-in-law approves & introduced me to this place & my family gets this whenever we have cravings for some banh bao varieties. My MIL is extremely picky about Vietnamese food! When my MIL says it's good then it must be really good because she always compares everything to the authentic ways back in Vietnam. The banh bao here are perfect snack sized & fairly priced unlike the ridiculously large ones at other Banh Mi places in town where they are stingy on the meats/stuffings & is mostly covered with lots of white flour/dough to make it look larger. Banh bao at TP is a good quick snack & I like to pick it up when I want something to snack on before or after a full meal. I usually get the steamed #2 Thap Cam with Trung Cut (Combination Pork with Quail Egg) but I decided to try the deep fried ones one day & I was hooked ever since! It's the BOMB DOT COM of DEEP FRIED GOODNESS! There's so many variety of options & choices for filling from meats to sweets. I'm a bit disappointed that it's not really fresh! It's all frozen and we had to wait over 30 minutes to have a dozen of banh bao steamed one time when I took all of my coworkers there for lunch. I personally prefer to buy it cold now & steam them myself at home. THEY TAKE CASH ONLY! Parking is difficult because there's limited space in the front so look for parking to the left of the market. If you go on the weekends, try to go earlier because they will be sold out of the popular options by 3pm!

Ever since I got the chance to try Bao for the first time at a buffet in Las Vegas, I fell in love with it and have been looking for a local place that sells them. Tried out this place and their bao is delicious! It's what they specialize in and I love that they have a variety instead of only pork like most places. Will definitely be returning for more.

Mom and pop shop that specializes in bao (Vietnamese steamed bun with meat filling). You can buy them steamed or (I strongly suggest) get them deep fried for $2.50 more per box. Each box is 9 buns and costs about $12-15/box depending on the filling. Pork filling is probably the most popular.

We bought a lot of buns, so we can freeze for later, the flavor is good, have yet to try other products they offer, but the buns are great

If you're looking for some good banh baos, you can't go wrong with TP! Not only do they have a variety of baos but they also have them hot and ready for you to grab on the go. And if they don't, they'll heat up a fresh batch for you. Dropped by this morning and I appreciated their quick and friendly service. I had to wait less than ten minutes to receive a freshly steamed batch of bbq pork banh baos. Definitely hit the spot when i devoured it right after. Covid-19 has been rough on a lot of businesses so I appreciate their efforts and friendly customer service. Until next time!

Always to go 1 - 2 banh bao special with quail egg or salted egg yolk to bring back Bay Area. Their banh bao is the best in the town. Great amount of bread & meat. First time tried banh bao chien (deep dried version) $1.50 each. It was crispy outside but not oily & sweet savory inside. Soooooo good. Price seemed to be increased but worth it. Special with quail egg 1 box $14.50. Salted egg yolk 1 box $15.50.

This places is literally known in the Vietnamese community across CA! My mom heard about this place from her friend in San Jose. People with buy huge badges to bring home or even ship to relatives out of state! They sell small dumplings in boxes of 10 each (They have a buy 10 boxes get 1 free promo!). They are unique because they are small and are super delicious. The ratio of bun to fillings are the best I've ever had. The flavor are rich and comforting. 2 or 3 is perfect for lunch. I am dazzled by the options of dumplings. Will have to come back and try them all! (You're next, egg custard!) P/S Cash will save you $2 in card payment fees.

This is seriously the dumpling heaven. They have so many flavor options, and the durian dumpling? You won't find that anywhere else. I love that the dumplings are small, so you can try a bunch without getting overwhelmed. Most people go for the box deal—definitely the best value. Only downside? Parking is a bit of a nightmare.

My favorite place to get Banh bao. The meat to bun ratio is perfect. I hate when you get the big boss and it’s mostly bun and not nearly enough meat. The texture of the nap is a little chewing, which I prefer. We get them cold and leave in the fridge. Whenever anyone in the family wants to eat one we just pop one in the Mi for a minute and they’re perfect. The center is also perfectly seasoned in my opinion. My brother thinks it’s slightly heavy on the onions but I love onions so I’m happy:)

They have some great vegetarian and meat steam buns. I like their #1 which consist of pork, egg. Their price for the buns are reasonable. This is the only place I go to for meat buns as I have not found any other place that make those pork buns where my whole family would actually agree that it's delicious. My dad likes to buy their vegetarian steam buns for days he diesnt eat meat.

Not cheap but oh so worth my monthly chest day/treat myself day! Prices have gone up a bit compared to the menu pics online. Again, worth it.

I was referred to this place by my brother's girlfriend a year ago, and I have to say I go here frequently now. This is the one located on Euclid and Garden Grove. The baos are amazing and perfectly sized where you can several at a time. And the proportion of dough to meat is perfect since most places will have too much dough and you're left feeling super full without satisfaction. Every one of their meat baos are great! Even the vegetarian baos. If you haven't had their fried baos, try them! Quick service, even if there are lines. Some of their baos run out fast. I always buy extra and freeze them to satiate midnite cravings. I normally would give 5 stars but deducted one star because the brother who works here is just downright rude. The entire family and staff are super friendly and helpful. But I came in today (August 10th at or around 1:15PM) to purchase some baos and inquired if they had their durian bao (sau rieng) since it was not on their in-store menu (but on their business card menu). Legit question since items change all the time but not the menu. Unfortunately the brother helped me today. And when I inquired about the durian bao, his response was "we have, its number #14." But the item description for #14 reads "mango and pineapple" and I calmly told him that. His response was "no, it's #14, I just told you." To which I replied STILL calmly "then why does it say mango and pineapple for #14, which is confusing." And he shouted back "I TOLD YOU, #14!" Seriously, what a douche. Clearly it's NOT #14, and why not just tell customers "its not shown on our menu on the board, but we do have it." Don't provide confusing information and yell at customers because the information you provide is wrong. Don't tell me its an apple even though its an orange BUT is indeed an apple merely because you say it is. Perhaps he was having a bad day, but even so do not take it out on your customers (especially when the information provided was incorrect). Love the family and staff, but be weary of this douche of a brother. I think he's the brother because he sounds and looks similar to the sisters (who are awesome btw and super friendly). Will I keep coming back to this place? YES. Because their baos are amazing, and their staff, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DOUCHE BROTHER, are super nice. My suggestion to the owners: keep your brother in the back...don't let him socialize or deal with the customers. The fact that I purchase on average 4-8boxes a week (to give to family and friends as well as self consume), and purchase with me 20boxes when I go out of state to give as gifts to friends, makes it obvious I am a huge, loyal fan of this place. But seriously, dump the brother...he needs to GO!

First time I've heard of anyone deep frying steamed buns before so I had to try it. I wanted the veggie bun and they asked if I was vegetarian - they only deep fry their meat buns b/c the oil is a meat-based oil. I'm semi-vegetarian, which means I'm flexible. Especially if the meat in question is particularly tasty. :D So they were nice enough to deep fry the vegetarian buns for me. Woohoo! They were pretty good - the bun part seemed kind of like a savory donut taste/texture. Lots of different ingredients inside which seemed include corn, peas, mushroom, maybe potato and cabbage? I also got the durian egg custard, which had a little stronger than a hint of durian flavor. Pretty good (if you love durian) but the bun wasn't has soft as I expected it to be and a little denser than the fluffy ones you get at Chinese dimsum places. Most of the customers were buying cases of these buns to take (and I assume steam at) home. So I felt like I was doing something wrong by buying just a couple at a time. Fyi, it took about 10-15 min for them to fry/steam the buns, so it's a bit of a wait.

5-star Excellent Banh Bao or Siopao, get their #1 for $9.50 out the door sitting on the counter. I've tried other flavors there, #1 is their best. Very quick service! Also, nice service if it's the young lady who's a vast majority of the time fulfilling orders at the counter. The parents don't speak English too well and therefore just get you in and out (no problem there) silently, with no fanfare, and sometimes with emotionless stone faces...no biggie, most of the time you deal with the daughter! The establishment is generic. Go for 5-star excellent, the best anywhere on the planet Banh Bao/Siopao served to you very quickly if not immediately. Don't expect a dipping sauce if you're used to Siopao, but Vietnamese Banh Bao, especially from this place, doesn't need it!

$9.50 for a box of 9 perfectly-portioned baos are a steal and you should definitely get your hands on the fried baos also. There are different types, but the regular baos is the one they usually have hot and ready to purchase. It’s located in the corner of Dalat Supermarket next to a barber shop. Parking is shared with the other stores and the supermarket, so it may be moderately difficult to find parking.

The bread of the buns are not very flavorful. The filling is a bit too oniony and they skimp out in the Chinese sausage (one tiny sliver per bun). Although pretty cheap I can find better at this price point. This is the review for the steamed ones btw.

Heard few people talked about the new Vietnamese's Steamed Bun/Banh Bao, at Banh Bao T.P. I had to try it and went there to get some. The service was pleasant and crowded. The pricing is little high for the small version compared to the original Steamed Bun. The taste was ok and not great. I still preferred for the original from few places I knew and the one my Dad made is lot better than the new version Banh Bao. I guess this is a trend, but it is not for me. I like to air fryer it after the steamed Bun, taste more crunchy and better.

The bao's here are so small and more expensive than other places. I thought because they are so expensive they must be good so I want to try. But it's disappointment, they're just so so. I bought a box of salt egg baos, more expensive than the other kinds, and when we got home more than half of them in the box are the cheaper kinds. I would bring them back if my house is close, but mine is not. They wasted my time and money.

I ate here 5 years ago, almost very week when I was a student, the bun was very good from texture of the bun to the taste of pork filling inside back to those days. I then moved to LA so I did not come back the area much, until today my family from Vietnam came to visit us in L.A. They wanted some Banh Bao for breakfast, I came and bought 1 box ( pork) at $14.00. Cashier was very pleasant and nice, lovely. Got home and ate 2 buns as attached picture. Such a disappointment, my family asked me what kind of bun they were!? I tried and omg the dough was sticky and wet, seem it was not cooked well or something I am not sure but it like you are chewing a starch in your mouth. The pork filling is still ok. We decided to eat the filling only. My wonder how come a very good authentic Banh Bao like TP can go down to the hill with such terrible quality buns like that. Not mention bun color and shape is not banh bao but like an ugly broken mochi ball with meat inside. Disappointed and frustrated at same time.

We've been supporting this place since it opened, but since last weekend, I'm not going back. The pork bun was so disgusting. We bought 2 boxes and had to throw it away. We didn't know if what we were eating was actual pork. The meat was so grounded that it melted in your mouth. On top of the dramatic increase in price, they probably used the worst meat and made it so u can't see it. The city might have to do some taste test on this place. Sorry, no longer a customer!

I am all for hole-in-the-walls but I just don't understand this place. It's dirty, the employees are plain rude, and to top it all off- the baos are a total disappointment! They are small, dry, the inside is soggy (broken down like wet paper) and the pork and egg filling and taste reminded me of the mashed food they serve my grandfather when he was in the hospital. Utter disappointment.

C

I went with my wife who wanted bánh bao ca dé (custard bao) and they were rude to her hurrying her up. They told us to be careful because it was hot. They lied. It was old and salty and cold, and we were disappointed. All the baos were all broken too. This isn’t the first time we’ve had a bad experience. Sad to give this location a bad review as a lot of the comments say they got good quality foods and service.

This place is going down hill. Banh bao Cade was terribled. There was no tasting of eggs, just powder mixed with favor food and sugar. It tasted worse than the frozen one sale in the market. How can they charged $18 for four? It is not worth more than $5.
