Opinions de Shinzan Ramen Gardena
Love the taste of real japanese ramen but as Thai, I love to put some chilli powder to make it more spicy. Good combination with a mug of an iced cold beer.
You ever have food so good you forget to take a picture? Honestly top tier experience without the frills. No weird additions, love the sushi style customization, didnt have to stumble over what I wanted or felt pressured. I’m used to LA ramen experiences so this was well worth the trip from Santa Monica!
Came to this Shin Sen Gumi location with my family, and we all ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The broth was on point, noodles were excellent, and the toppings paired perfectly. Also, the atmosphere was very lively and welcoming. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to eat ramen in the Gardena area.
Kid wanted ramen. Found this place with almost 2k positive reviews, easiest decision in a while. Outside the restaurant was a small table with waiting list. Good sign so far. Once inside, small cozzy joint with friendly staff. Ordered a ramen combo with fried rice. And the ratings were right. The perfect portion of perfectly cooked noodles with a comforting broth punched the right spot. I had to stop drinking the broth, flavorful, but could be regrettable. The fried rice was a bit salty, but decent. It's simple, but it's the best ramen I've had in a while.
WOWZERS. I think this was even BETTER than Ichiran 👀🤩 Loved going there for lunch on a week day, I can imagine there being a long wait otherwise. Being able to select the firmness of my noodles was AWESOME. I like it firm and I was able to customize that! The ramen broth was life changing and you can even adjust the saltiness of it too! Just all around amazing and the bow on top was the fabulous service. Thank you!
Extremely delicious food! Atmosphere is nice especially with Japanese music playing at the background. Waiters are friendly and welcoming, this place is clean and their menu is big with variety of awesome meals. I recommend ordering fried bananas as a desert, it’s just divine (as you can tell from the picture)
Picked someone up at Los Angeles Airport and arrived early. I was delighted to find this authentic Japanese ramen shop nearby. The prices are affordable and the flavors are genuine. I might consider coming here more often when I go to the airport in the future. While waiting for the ramen, I looked up some information and found out that this area has the one of the highest number of Japanese immigrants among cities in the U.S. It turns out that the nearby city of Torrance has over 25% of its population made up of Japanese immigrants.
This place is awesome. My wife and I have been coming here as our comfort spot for years now. I have been coming here for 5 years and each time the food, atmosphere and service is absolutely incredible. My wife and I love spicy food and the Diablo ramen is perfect. It’s the best kind of spice (most places just use a ton of chili powder) but here the spice is delicious and hot. I recommend coming here with your friends and family on the weekends! The food tastes better and the service is better. They have an okay lunch special, but the food quality is lackluster at this time (We have a feeling that they reuse ingredients from the night before). Dinner time is when everything tastes much more fresh.
I’ve been coming here for well over a decade now, and it remains remarkably consistent. The ramen is delicious, the topping choices are vast enough to never run out of potential combinations, the service staff are always friendly and enthusiastic, and the vibe is always bustling with life. The spot continues to thrive for this long for a reason – it’s a definite stop for anyone that enjoys ramen and Japanese food generally.
First of all, the service here was super friendly and welcoming! Love the way they greet their customers. The servers were also very attentive and quick to bring us our food. We got the eel over rice, hakata ramen (thick base and heavy oil) which was really tasty. Also added an egg and pork belly to the ramen because how could one not?! The misubi did not disappoint either. Overall very solid establishment and would definitely revisit.
We went for a weekday lunch. Busy, so had to wait outside for seating for about 15 minutes. Noodles were delicious and customizable, such as noodle firmness and how much oil. I had the Veggie Ramen and it had a lot of veggies and flavor. Nice variety of sides. A little noisy for me.
Cute Ramen restaurant tucked in nice strip mall. There's free self parking. When we arrived, there was already a line. They open at 6pm. The line she's move quickly. They have the menu on the window outside so you can plan ahead. Once they called our names, we were greeted and led to the bar. They have a few tables but those are mostly for larger groups. Singles and doubles are seated at the bar where you can watch them prepare your food as it's a partially open kitchen. The staff is very efficient. You order on a small menu paper. Pretty straight forward. They have lots of ramen options. They also have curry and lots of side dishes. Also, there's a dessert menu. The food is yummy and portions are just right. They have vegan and vegetarian options. I personally prefer Hiro Nori ramen more...but that's just my opinion. Atmosphere is a bit loud so it was difficult talking to someone next to you. Overall it was good.
Place was very warm and welcoming. As for the ramen, i wasn’t entirely impressed. For me it was 7/10. The broth is great but the add ons are very expensive. I’ve been to locations with great everything for less the price. I really enjoyed the banana egg roll, it was phenomenal! I don’t think I’d come back here again, but it was a great experience to say the least.
This place is one of the more popular ramen restaurants in the South Bay. It is pretty decent when it comes to flavor and price. There are also a lot of add-on toppings that you can choose from. I ordered their lunch special with a curry rice👌🏾. The restaurant is not my ultimate favorite in the area, but it's up there.
First of all the packaging was horrible. I ordered Uber eats and my things were just thrown in a bag and it wasn’t secured. It wasn’t stapled. It wasn’t tied Basically, the person delivering my food had easy access to do whatever Next, the Ramen was disgusting so I definitely won’t be ordering from here again. I don’t know what all the hype is about. It’s really nasty. If I could give a zero, I would if you want good Ramen, go to Koji Ramen in Pomona
I hesitate to write this review but I must after seeing that they have a 4.7 rating, OMG. I have no idea why that is. Either they are all paid reviewers, or people simply don't understand what good ramen is in this country. Read my last paragraph first, or just go to Japan, and understand what good ramen is. Just goto Tokyo Station Ramen Street for starters, there are 8 great ramen restaurants w different styles. Each of them will blow this place away by a mile. There are plenty more in local alleys if you can find them. But literally, almost any ramen you find in Japan in any street corner is better than this place, IMO. I've been eating ramen at Shin-Sen-Gumi for over 30+ years in multiple locations. Years ago, it was one of the best Tonkotsu ramen in SoCal cuz there weren't that many good ramen back then. Fast foward to today, there are so many better ramen places in SoCal. I will name just a few for you in no particular order: Tatsu, Tsujita, Hinonori, Ikkousha, Josui, Kitakata, Daikokuya, Tatsunoya, Hinodeya, Santouka, Nagi, Men Oh Tokushima, Silverlake, Afuri, and many more. You don't even need to go to J-town or Sawtelle for great ramen anymore. Here's the problem with Shin-Sen-Gumi: I visited them about 3 months ago and already thought it was not what it used to be, but I refrained from writing a review, hoping they would improve. Today was the last draw. They only serve Tonkotsu, so you would think that should be great cuz it's their specialty, easy enough, right? Ramen only have 3 components: noodles, broth, and toppings. First, I will say the noodles were still OK. I always ask for Katame (firm noodles) when eating Hakata style ramen since it's thin noodles. I like "Al dente", I don't like soggy noodles. Second, their toppings were never great, but acceptable. Char Siu had always been too dried, and still is. Green onions always seem frozen chopped long ago. Third, here's the DISASTER. Years ago, the broth was their magic. It had a unique rich pork bone flavor. That is what Tonkotsu means (豚骨) as in pork bone. Today, it tasted like it was some powder mix from some instant ramen package, but worse, ZERO umami. (btw, I ordered thick and strong for the broth, and it was still tasteless, horrible. Maybe I should have ask them for some MSG Ajinomoto, LOL). A pack of "Shin" noodles tastes much better. After my meal, I consulted with the staff. I asked for a manager but there was none. I told them exactly what I wrote above, that they have lost their mojo; but they seem indifferent. Maybe they were embarrassed that someone pointed out to them this is not real Tonkotsu (豚骨) soup base. You can't pretend to sell Tonkotsu with instant noodles packets mix. It's fraudulent. So I left, and vowed I will not be back, EVER. If you have NEVER eaten Tonkotsu ramen, you might think this is good ramen, but if you have ever been to Tokyo or Fukuoka and eaten ramen there, you will laugh at this place in disgust.
