Thai breakfast & dessert spot in Gardena. Came here to grab some dessert on a Thursday around 7:30 and there was no wait. There are outdoor tables available for sit-down. Parking is easy and available in a large lot. Credit cards are accepted. You pay first and then receive your food. There’s one single occupant restroom in the back. It’s a casual spot to have some tasty Thai food. The coconut ice cream was sweet and you get a choice of three toppings. We opted for sticky rice (an extra 50 cents), mango, and coconut flakes, so the ice cream ended up tasting like a mango sticky rice (which was perfect because we were trying to decide between the ice cream and mango sticky rice). The serving size is good for two people (or for one particularly hungry person).
The soups are delicious, but if you prefer comfortable seating, sit in their other restaurant across from this one - they'll bring the soup over to you, and you can order additional dishes from that reataurant.
One of my favorite resturants in LA. The curry is heavenly and has so much flavor. I would definitely recommend the green curry. The Thai iced tea is also excellent and compliments the meal. Finally, the portion sizes! They are nice and large making easy to have two meals with the curry.
I don't have pictures, when I go back I will. YNt place is do cute and quaint. They have sticky rice and mango 🥭 treat, which is my favorite. If you don't like sticky rice, they have smoothies in cuffed flavors to quench your taste buds. They are very reasonable too 😉
Holy Kao Soi! A friend recommended I try this place after I was telling him that Thai food is my favorite food, and it did not disappoint. That Kao Soi was the best thing I've eaten in a long time. This place does not have the typical dishes that you expect to see at a traditional Thai restaurant. It says breakfast and dessert in the description, and I'm sure those are good too, but I'll never know. I think that I am forever stuck getting the first thing I tried because I would feel like I was missing out if I walked away without it. I'm counting on all of you to try the other things on the menu and report back to me! PS before going, I read some reviews on Yelp, and there were a few people complaining about the service... don't pay them any attention. You order your food and pay at a counter, then sit down and they bring it to your table, you leave and they collect your dishes. There is no server 🤷♀️ PPS first time having Mango Sticky Rice. TBH, I didn't love it, I want my desserts real sweet, and this was subtle (great flavor, but subtle sweetness). However, the other two people in my party LOVED it. I wouldn't get it again, and they would not go back without getting it again.
A casual hole in the wall atmosphere combined with delicious meals and a surprisingly refreshing dessert (which we split) made for a wonderful dining experience. It's not fancy, but it is excellent.
Man that Khao Soi was fantastic. So much texture and flavor, in a very generous portion! Can’t wait to bring friends with me next time. Usually a bit of curry leftover, a side of rice might be a good move.
This place sets itself apart from the usual Thai restaurants by focusing on Thai breakfast and noodle soups, as well as Thai desserts. Instead of pad thai and pad see ew, you can get tom yum ba mee, coconut curry, and porridge. All have a cozy homemade taste. But my favorite discovery is their VEGAN coconut ice cream dessert bar! The ice cream is so velvety but dairy free so it doesn’t linger on your tongue. You can get it plain, with peanuts, or add toppings from their bar. And the toppings are actually unique like starfruit. The mango sticky rice is also delicious!
The Kao Soi is soooo good. Next time I get it I will get a side of rice to mop up the rest of the curry. Can't wait to try their omelettes, rice dishes, and desserts. I'm very fortunate to work nearby. I'ma get all of my coworkers hooked so we can have lunches here! Shout out to Misohungry for putting me on to this spot.
While I’d selfishly like this to stay a hidden gem, I just have to give Sweet Rice the shout out it deserves. We’ve had the tom yum noodle soup, the kao soi, the coconut ice cream with peanuts and also with mango, sweet red beans, and lychee jelly. EVERYTHING is so good. It’s also nice to see various generations behind the counter, putting a lot of care and pride into their food. I love this place and hope they keep doing well. It’s been packed the times we’ve gone, as it should be.
Great soups and broth’s!. My favorite is the one Thang add noodles combination. The customer service is top notch, including the taste and freshness of each and every dish. Highly recommend it. The atmosphere is peaceful and the sitting area is ample, plenty of parking space at the center, and the restrooms are always kept clean. The desserts are made fresh daily including some of their holistic or natural beverages.
This is my favorite Thai/South East Asian food in the South Bay. Every single broth and curry on the menu is perfectly balanced with great flavor. It reminds me of my mom’s cooking growing up. There isn’t another restaurant in the area that has dishes like the ones at sweet rice. I also love that they sell authentic Thai deserts like mango sticky rice and grass jelly drinks. They used to have other traditional sides like fried bananas but I understand that they took it off since it’s not that popular.
I ALWAYS order one of two dishes: the Khao Soi Thai curry noodle soup, or the Thai version of Hainan chicken rice (I think only available on Fridays). Both are awesome. Also right next to their sister restaurant, Bowl Thai Grill. Both restaurants are highly recommended, and their respective menus are different.
Best Thaifood near Torrance! Quick service and friendly staff! We ordered Kao Soi with chicken and basil omelette with crab. The omelette was kind of dry, but with curry from Kao Soi and mixed with rice and omelette, it was soooo good!! The mongo rice was also delicious, we packed it to go since the portions of the food were kind of large…
Very friendly staff, easy parking, reasonable prices. I got the Thai Boat Noodle Soup and it was flavorful and rich but slightly salty. It had lots of meat pieces and I liked the pho noodles. The portion was perfect for filling me up, but I don't eat that much. My wife liked the tofu green curry. It was very lemon grassy. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes.
First time eating here. Ordering was easy. You can sit anywhere available. Service was great, if eating there, they take your food to your table. Food is good.
Sweet Rice is literally one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town! I usually order the Khao Soi (kind of like a curry ramen) and it’s always super delicious. Recently, I found out they serve Hainan chicken rice on Fridays, so I tried it — and I loved it! Honestly, I wish I could eat their Hainan chicken rice every day, but it’s only available on Fridays, which makes it extra special. Definitely a must-try spot!
I ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup, and what struck me immediately was the balance. The broth was not overpowering and had just the right amount of spice. I also liked pickled chili and enhanced the experience. Had the Tapioca for dessert. It was soft and sweet.
The rice they use for their Hainan chicken was perfection. They only serve it on Fridays, the rice came seasoned like how you would expect it from a traditional Hainan restaurant in Asia. The kaosoi was well seasoned with yellow curry. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice, the rice was a bit sweet but the coconut milk balanced it out.
Simple and clean restaurant, located at the back corner of Pacific Shopping Center with plenty of parkings but can get busy on the weekend. The Beef Boat noodle is really good, spicy level is medium to me, if you like less or more spicy do ask the staffs they are very friendly. Have a good experience here. I love their Thai iced tea as well as the coconut ice-cream. Is the taste authentic? this probably the first Thai restaurants beside the ones in Thai Town (LA), where you can see many Thai customers. Will come again for different dishes.
I think the Kao Soi made me experience a variety of textures. You can taste the crunchy sprouts, crispy fried topping, and the sweet curry noodles all in one dish. I recommend eating it with jalapeños—Kao Soi and jalapeños are the best combo ever!
Absolutely delicious!!! My husband came here with a friend and sent me a pic of Kao Soi and I was already drooling. He wanted to take me (and eat it again cause it was so good) and we had a chance to today! This restaurant is found in a big plaza with other restaurants! It’s in a corner and you can either sit outside or inside. Plenty of parking and it was a nice day. The water has a sensor (instead of pushing a button). Their cups are big sizes! We ordered Kao Soi (sort of like a curry noodle soup dish that is SUPER flavorful and yummy) and Tom Yum Noodle Soup (spice level is manageable and it was so delicious)!!! Even passerbys saw what we were eating and asked what to order. I definitely recommend this place! I also will return to try all the other dishes and desserts! Service was pretty good. I asked for extra napkins and handed in the finished plates but found out they have a tray outside (they thanked us for helping them out though).
Sweet Rice is tucked away in a little corner plaza, but they serve some delicious Thai food here. I got the Kao Soi curry noodles and it was awesome. Nice staff with clean, open space. The coconut ice cream was awesome too. I'll definitely be coming back here soon.
The best Thai food in South Bay for sure! I've been living in Thailand and I was craving real, delicious Thai food. After trying a lot of places this is definitely my go to! Sooo happy I've found it! Not to mention Kao Soi is such a rare dish to find in this area! P.s: don't miss the mango sticky rice either!
Casual Thai dining spot where you order at the counter. There's a good selection and the portions are a decent size. Service is pretty minimal but it wasn't a problem for this kind of eatery. I'd come back here to try the other menu items. Khao Soi: Get Full of wonderful flavors and textures. This is one of the better khao sois that I've gotten in SoCal. Make sure to squeeze all of those lime juices out to compliment the savoriness of the dish. Mango sticky rice: Get Perfectly ripe mangoes with coconut sauce and the sweet sticky rice...mmmm one of my favorite desserts and it's done right here. Food: 8/10 Service: 5/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Value: 7/10
Angela is an amazing host. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The place is warm and full of life and the food is amazing. Probably the best Thai you can find anywhere within 50 miles! The homemade cilantro hot sauce should be bottled and sold. I would drink that by itself.
Their thai crab omelette is delicious! I've also had their khao soi before and it was so good. You walk up to the counter to order and they'll bring your food out. They have sauces and condiments that complement all the dishes well.

Probably the most authentic Thai soups I've tried. I recommend eating the soups as they come, ordering any extras on them will ruin the authentic flavor. The shrimp rice soup and wonton soup were delicious.
small Cafe style thai restaurant. don't let the appearance throw you off, the food is legit and comes out fast. had the Khao Soi and it tasted almost exactly like khao Soi I've had in Chiang Mai. highly recommended for a quick eat.
Everything I’ve had here is flavorful and delicious. Friday Hainan rice is so fantastic. I think they make some of the the best Thai iced tea especially with the coconut milk alternative offering. Sweetest family run business, highly recommend.
This place is absolutely incredible. The service is always great and the noodles are delicious. I always go with the wonton with egg noodle. You won’t regret it. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and each item is really good!!!

I'm only giving a 4 because I haven't tried their actual food menu, the only thing I tried was the mango rice which is so delicious, if you haven't tried it do so it's so good. The rice is perfectly cooked. The coconut dressing that goes on it is Soo good. I still need to try more items but so far this one is the winner for sure.
great thai food that focuses on soup based noodles rather than your played out pad thai. the portion is generous with great pricing. i didn't have pleasure of trying their specialty mango sticky rice dessert because i was so full. definitely check this place out. it's tucked in the corner so way under-appreciated!
Tried Sweet Rice at the Tokyo Central complex in Gardena and was pleasantly surprised as a vegetarian. While the menu doesn’t clearly list vegetarian options, I called ahead and they confirmed they can make yellow, red, and green curries vegetarian with no fish sauce. I ordered the yellow curry with potato and onion, and it was flavorful, comforting, and not too heavy. Chili oil on top added a nice kick. Others at the table enjoyed the curry noodle soup and wonton soup. Despite being Michelin Guide–listed, this is a very casual spot—order at the counter, relaxed seating, no formal dining—which makes it easy and approachable. Parking right out front is a plus. Food is good value for money! Bowl Thai grill is next door (same owners) so you can sit there if the restaurant is full.
The food was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and pleasant. The khao soi was on point with deep rich flavors, chewy noodles. Finish off with a tasty mango and sticky rice and you have a great on the go lunch!

Tried the TomYum Noodle Soup for take-out. Didn't really live up to the expectations of the other reviews. The rice noodles were good, and it was packed well, but flavors of the soup felt a bit muted. There wasn't really any veggies in the soup either. We're not of Thai ethnicity, so I'm not sure about its authenticity; but, we've had this same soup at other Thai restaurants before, and this was not as flavorful or spicy.

served 4 people first that came in AFTER us we ordered 2 things. The hospitality towards other asians was amazing compared to ours. the older lady with glasses behind the counter didn’t bother to say hi to us and gave a very cold impression, compared to the service she gave other asians. Yes me and my daughter are black.
