This was our first visit to this very cute and extremely clean Cafe. Our food was delicious and the service was Excellent. Reasonable prices and large portions. If you haven't gone, you must add this to your places to go. You will not be disappointed!

We tried to come to this place about a month ago and we weren’t able to get in because they were having a meeting of some sort but we decided to try again and very much enjoyed it. Tammy took excellent care of us and the food is absolutely amazing. My wife and I really enjoyed our time there. We both had the chicken fried steak and it was amazing. Okra and portions are amazing. Did not have room for dessert unfortunately however we will definitely go back and maybe get a smaller portion of food so that we can get dessert Wonderful place. Glad we tried it again.

I’ve lived in the downtown Garland area for several years but for some reason had never tried this restaurant. Very good food and portion sizes. Super friendly service and really liked the atmosphere. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and my friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The portions were huge and so reasonable priced. This will be a regular place for me to eat out from here on.

We decided to eat out this week, but wanted not-fast-food-comfort-food. Thinking about our options, we remembered Main Street Cafe! We've dined there 3-4 times before, and it is HOT and delicious every time. This time, I got the chicken fried chicken, and asked for double fries (real fresh cut fries), and husband got the small fried chicken salad with creamy soup. It came HOT and crusp! We ate and ate, until we were STUFFED full, and there was still food to eat. We watched people walking the downtown street as we chatted, and enjoyed regular conversation with the owner, as she diligently checked our needs. We will be back!

They did not skimp on the food, the chicken fried steak was large with a lot of creamy gravy. It was heavy but hey isn't that what were looking for when we go out? It wasn't too crowded when we went so we were seared immediately and the food didn't take too long to come out. It has a nice atmosphere and friendly service.

My fiance and I dropped by one day while in Garland and had a marvelous time. The wait staff were very helpful and they were playing Christian music in the house. We will definitely visit, again.

I had the Cod Wrap and my boyfriend had the Chicken Fried Steak. Both meals were so good and given in generous portions. Even though they said they were short staffed the food came out quick and the waitresses teamed up together and made sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back again. Had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. It was all excellent! I went with co-workers and we all got different things. Everyone loved what they ordered and it all looked very good. Only problem was the volume of noise. Open metal ceiling so everyone was basically talking loud just to be heard over the people around you. My suggestion is put soundproof ceiling in so we can enjoy the full experience of the great food. I’ll be going here regularly now.

I’m a very hard critic, especially when it comes to my chicken fried steak and let me tell you; OUTSTANDING!!

Me and a friend stopped in on Saturday April 26th, me and my friend each ordered their burgers and I had the fries. The burger was so big and piled on that I could only eat half of the burger and they piled on the fries. I definitely had to take half of my meal home. Everything was so delicious from the food to the sweet tea and service, our waitress Sydney was spectacular. I will definitely be eating there again.

Menu has a good variety, staff is friendly and welcoming, it’s like eating at home with a great chef! I had the BLT classic and it was very good, bacon was warm, tomatoes and lettuce were fresh, and Texas toast was just right. I will be back, and maybe try one of their desserts that I hear are highly recommended.

Found Main Street Cafe while looking for food on a snow day. The restaurant we planned to go to was closed and I'M SO GLAD! The owners were so sweet and easy going people. Our service was top notch and the food was fantastic. We got the grilled pimento cheese sandwich per our servers recommendation and it did not disappoint! I mentioned it was my birthday while we were being seated and my food came out with a candle! I loved it!

The perfect amount of vinaigrette dressing was mixed in. It was truly memorable. Just prior to finishing my salad, I overheard my waitress (also the owner, I was told) asking another patron if they wanted dessert, so when she asked me, I was already prepared to ask about the Belgian chocolate mousse cake. Oh my gosh! It was roll your eyes up in your head good! They were so nice and there were little touches like plants, fresh flowers and art painted on the little black folders they bring your check to you in. I highly recommend this place!

They took it, and within 8 minutes I was out the door with an immense steak, crisp and hot, with plentiful gravy and lovely mash and okra. Come on in to downtown Garland. This is one of those places that demonstrates the charm and flavours of Southern cooking.

I wish I had taken a picture of the double burger 🍔 it was six inches tall. It was an amazing burger, crunchy bacon, and a mountain of fries. The mushroom and swiss burger looked amazing as well. Others at the table raved about the soups and practically licked the bowls. BYOB if you need to imbibe with your meal.

Main Street Cafe is just a great little family owned gem. The food is always good (get the Sarg P Ray Special or the Boots Parks burger) and the staff is always nice. We pretty much always do take out because we are always on the run and they are always quick and my food is ready when I get there. Definitely recommend this place!

This place is DELICIOUS! My office talks about coming here all the time, however, there is always one single server when we go and she is being run ragged! We dont have time to wait 20 minutes just to be seated. I would advise aknowledging people when they walk in to and let them know how long they should expect to wait. the last 3 trips here, we walked out after 15 minutes of not even an aknowledgment. food is really really good though

I have had the hamburger steak and grilled chicken breast. So good! My friends have had burgers, grilled pork chops, and chicken fried chicken. All foods were wonderful except the pork chops were tough. Pork chops probably should be baked or fried to be tender. Personal opinion. LOL. Every "side" was delicious; particularly, the cole slaw was to my taste and the black-eyes! Acoustics are terrible. You can hear everyone's conversations. Maybe acoustic ceiling would help. Well, generally we go during "off-times" which helps. Wait staff was excellent and polite, but nearly too attentive. Just relax, y'all. We did get to stay and chat over coffee for a long time. No milk or cream or creamer for the coffee. I figured they wouldn't have decaf, so just didn't ask. Delicious pecan cobbler, by the way, but desserts aren't their thing, really. It was quite a charming place downtown Garland. I think it might be a good evening spot.

I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was very much over fried. The fries were nice and crispy. My friend ordered the chop steak, he says it was great.

Saw this place online since I was in the area and decided to give it a shot. Well, they one lady trying to seat incoming guests, taking orders, cleaning tables, and cashing out tabs. We walked in and had to wait to be seated even though there were open tables because that one lady was wearing many hats. Thought that was weird. I commend her for multitasking. My chicken fried steak was humongous, with mashed potatoes and corn, but unseasoned. Overall, it was an experience.

The staff was really nice, and it's a very nice restaurant. I ordered fish and it was VERY greasy.

I recently visited Main Street Café in Garland with high hopes for a cozy and delicious meal. Unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Upon arrival, the café seemed inviting with its charming decor and bustling atmosphere. However, the hostess appeared overwhelmed and visibly stressed. Despite the initial welcoming vibe, she discouraged us from waiting for a table due to the apparent busyness of the café. We were disappointed as we had heard great things about the food and were looking forward to trying it. While I understand that busy times can be challenging, a better approach from the staff would have made a difference. Perhaps an estimated wait time or an offer to put our names down for a table later would have been more accommodating. In summary, the café looked promising, but the service left much to be desired. We hope to give it another chance in the future, hoping for a better experience. For now, our visit was cut short by the overwhelmed staff and the lack of encouragement to stay.

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. My salmon salad was piled high on to a small plate, over hanging edges, with the chunk of salmon sitting balanced on very top. This salad is meant to be served on a large plate. When I asked for an extra plate to place the salmon on, they said "sorry all dishes are dirty". Gross, the thought they are washing up a dish as they need for each customer. Also, had to wait 30 min for table, then additional 10 more min. to get a drink and total 15 min before order even taken....never was offered refill on my drink. Sadly disappointing.

Food was actually really good. Had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, or homemade. But the atmosphere is uncomfortable—Christian music playing, and the first piece of art I see on the wall is a blue lives matter plaque. I have zero problem with other people’s religion, but I don’t need it force fed me while I’m trying to have lunch and on the blue lives matter subject, it means POC: you’re not welcome here, this is fascist country.

I am so disappointed and disgusted at the treatment me and my cousin got when we walked into this establishment. We were not greeted the entire time we were waiting on our food we placed for pickup up. One of the employees looked my cousin dead in the eyes and turned right back around without acknowledging her nor me. So we left. They then called and said if we didn’t come back and pay for our food that there would be consequences and repercussions! And let’s not forget SHE Cursed at us over the phone. Ain’t no way .

When I arrived it says please wait to be seated. I was rudely motioned to a table not taken to a table by a woman with a attitude. Took awhile to get a waitress and it was not busy at all. Showed a picture of a burger on front of menu to waitress and asked for it with no fries, instead, with jalapeño poppers. Got my food and there was fries on my plate. The host came over and I explained I did not order fries and with an attitude she rudely said well they come with it. Waitress came over and said the same. (Nicely). But it’s still not what I ordered. Check came, $26. Ridiculously expensive for two things for one person. The burger and fries was 16.95. I did not order fries. Nor was I told at time of order that the burger on the picture would be 16.95 because if I had been told then I would of ordered something else. They should of accommodated me and nothing was done. I would never recommend this establishment.

I tried retuning a burger I didn't like and owner confronted me after 15 minutes of waiting for my bill. She came up to me and pointed her finger at me and deliberately tried making me feel bad for not liking the burger... I wasn't rude to the waitress or the owner when I returned it so I don't understand why I was treated that way. She kept claiming | didn't explain correctly why I didn't want the burger, as if late the whole thing or even needed to give her a thorough explanation. Lady... there was 2 small bites out of that burger please, I even tried getting my boyfriend to eat it but he couldn't because he was allergic to the pecans. She also mentioned it's a mom and pop business so it hurts them, respectfully I don't care about your business the same way I doubt they care that I'm never going back. Just wanted to warn anyone to like the food or else they WILL confront you. The woman who spoke to me that way had a black bob haircut by the way, you're the worst! :)

This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was absolutely unacceptable — rude staff with zero regard for basic customer courtesy. We waited over 30 minutes for our order with no explanation or apology, just cold stares and indifference. What made it even worse was the behavior of the owners. Instead of trying to resolve issues or show any level of professionalism, they were arrogant, dismissive, and downright rude. It’s clear they have no interest in customer satisfaction — only in taking your money and making you feel unwelcome. The entire atmosphere is toxic and uninviting, and the lack of respect toward paying guests is shocking. I strongly advise against visiting this place. There are plenty of other cafes where you’ll be treated with kindness and respect. This one isn’t worth your time, money, or energy.

I truly don't understand all the 5-star reviews for this eatery. Service was very slow. They appear to have one person running the entire front end - hostessing, serving and clearing tables. The food was truly horrible. The pork chops were undercooked and accompanying blackeyed peas were bland. Batter-fried cod was literally dripping grease. Fries were greasy as well, both the garlic truffle fries (a "premium side") and the regular french fries. Overall, a very disappointing dining experience. Will not be returning and do not recommend.
