We’ve visited this place twice during our stay on Cayman Islands, and the experience has been fantastic. The service, food, and atmosphere are all amazing. They ensured that my daughter, who has celiac disease, had gluten-free options available. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Their matcha cheesecake with pistachio gelato is especially tasty. We will definitely come back!

We went last night, it was absolutely amazing!! best sushi we have ever had! Restaurant was beautiful with outside bar and seating right on the ocean. Bradley and the rest of the team did a fantastic job of taking care of us.

Been there several times and just had a farewell dinner for a friend leaving Cayman soon. 1)we all loved the patio table, as the sunset was amazing. 2)the service was very attentive, and the presentations were just divine, both food & cocktails. 3)as for the menu, I had miso butter scallops, Chirashi bowl & matcha cheese cake. And everything was well balanced and really tasty. Arigato, Kojima, matane, xo

Elevated Japanese on Grand cayman Island :) Very good sushi & sashimi. I was there for lunch so I don’t know much about their dinner options . Would love to stay in the island over night and enjoy a nice meal and sunset on the ocean front .

Fantastic place. Great views, excellent service, and of course the food. The bartender from Portugal was extremely knowledgeable and gave some great recommendations! The Tuna Tataki, chicken thigh yakitori, and the delicious katsu curry were all spot on!

This is an absolute MUST. The cocktails are beyond amazing, the food is delicious, service is perfect. The vibe on the place is chill and everyone is very welcoming, the price is worth the portions, the view and the quality of the food.

My partner, our friend, and I chose Kojima Izakaya to kick off our Japan trip and celebrate our friend’s birthday, and it couldn’t have been a better decision. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which set the tone for a memorable evening. The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented, each bite bursting with flavor. But the standout for me was the katsu curry. I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve tasted in Cayman, crispy, tender cutlet with rich, comforting curry sauce that I’m still thinking about. Between the incredible food, top-notch service, and lively yet cozy atmosphere, Kojima Izakaya is a must-visit whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just craving fantastic Japanese cuisine. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

Came here trying to find some variety from the usual coastal bar food/bbq/fish fries. This place rules. Tuesday steak and maki for $40 w/ a beer or wine, which is a crazy deal. Awesome deck seating and very friendly staff.

We’re really glad to have a new Japanese spot on the island—this place is a welcome addition with a great waterfront vibe. We tried a variety of appetizers and they were all solid, but the standout was definitely the scallops—super tender and served in an incredible sauce. We’ve checked out a few sushi spots around Cayman, and this one had the best variety and quality we’ve seen so far. The toro and o-toro nigiri were our favorites—fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. Service was fine, though there’s definitely room for improvement in that area. Overall, it was a great experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic new restaurant by the waterfront! Despite it being very new, we had an excellent time. We were first greeted by the lovely hostess, Cindy. We opted for outdoor seating to watch the sunset. Our server, Maia, made sure we were comfortable dining. Other staff such as Simone, Chino, and Don made the whole experience worthwhile. Food was great too. Definitely would dine again!

Excellent Japanese restaurant in George Town, highly recommended with lots of dishes to try. Had dinner 3 times while on our holiday here. Tried the assorted Yakitori, Hamachi Usuzukuri, Hamachi Kama, Gyoza appetizers, several rolls, 2 Soba noodles dishes and the Miso Butter Scallops. All delicious! Highly recommend as must tries the Hamachi Kama, like eating ribs and the Matcha cheesecake. Recommend reservations.

i visited japan a year ago and i can confidently say that this is one of, if not, the best japanese restaurant i’ve ever eaten at. the chicken breast yakitori and pork tonkatsu were my absolute favorite dishes. the chicken had a delicious grilled/smoky flavor, and the pork tonkatsu was sooooo tender and flavorful. the wagyu was extremely tender, and better than some places in japan. everything was fresh and handmade- especially the gyoza and sushi. the chicken fried rice was not the best, as the rice lacked flavor, but it was still yummy. definitely get the pork tonkatsu if you come here. not to mention the view is incredible… we came on a celebrity cruise ship and could see our ship from the outside seating area. it’s right by the ocean and so perfect. it’s very close to the cruise port, too.

Oh my god!! This place is absolutely amazing, fresh and delicious. Everything we had was the best version of it anywhere else. And we’re including Tokyo. I’m so glad we stumbled into this place, thanks to my daughter. Come here. You won’t regret it!!

Didn’t want to get my hopes up high as a self proclaimed food critic and having traveled to Japan before. This place is the best restaurant opening Cayman has had in 6+ years and is so needed. With seating inside and outside, it is very vibey. The place is nicely decorated and parking was simple with a large lot down to the left. The food: I got the roll with snow crab roll with eel (West of Cali) and the salmon roll with hamachi (Tsukiji roll). The quality was excellent for on island and a better tier than Yoshis (Yoshis I still love you). Your talking a few more $ but worth it in my opinion and fairly priced considering you are on the water with a nice view for people who want to sit outside. The hostess was friendly at the door, we had reservations and were seated immediately. I had the peach high ball drink and I’d recommend it. Very well done. Mains: Unagi Meshi: was like a trip to Japan. Just so well done and nice plating. Tonkotsu Ramen: Very good flavor, pork was great but wasn’t much broth if I’m being honest and the wife found it a bit salty. That said, still the best ramen we have had on island. I wouldn’t say the ramen is on par with Japan but with more broth and a little less salt, it would be a 10/10. Very promising. Left feeling very satisfied and Kojima exceeded my high expectations. Oh, and the server was a class act too. Responsive, asked how the food was and timely.

Went here on a Monday! Mondays here means Unlimited Ramen for only 22 kyd! Yes you read it right! It's unlimited Ramen Mondays! They veggie options for vegetarians! And even though it's all veg, it's still taste delicious! They have to viands of chicken ramen, one has creamy broth (spicy) and the other one is just a normal chicken ramen! My most favourite is the pork Ramen! I had 3 bowls that day.. dining experience was great! Seated at the waterfront with the best view of Cayman sunset! At night, it becomes sooo romantic and the vibe is nice..Staffs are so accommodating! We'll definitely coming back! Highly recommended!

Best Japanese restaurant on islands. Did not disappoint even though there aren't much competition on the island for Japanese food. Taste great would recommend.

My family and I ate dinner here last night and they made my daughter’s birthday dinner one she’ll never forget. She is still talking about the Land and Sea roll today and she isn’t even a fan of steak any other time. Do yourself a favor and get the octopus yakitori, they are like delightful little pillows covered in chimichurri. My wife’s lychee martini and my Negroni chocolat are some of the best cocktails I’ve had in a long time. They were able to accommodate my wife’s aversion to nori and were able to make her rolls with soy paper. They took great care with my son who has multiple allergies. And the chocolate mousse cake? Out of this world. Thank you for saving the best seat in the house for us it was a meal we will always remember. Until next time!

Everything about this restaurant deserves a 10 out of 10! 🥰 The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing. The food was amazing, let's get into it... We ordered the special for that night, Steak and Sushi, cooked to perfection! My partner had the crab and shrimp fried rice, absolutely delicious 😋 it was paired with a salad that was so good as well. We also ordered the grilled octopus 🐙 that was also cooked to perfection, tasted so good. I have no bad reviews about this restaurant, and I will be going back as soon as possible.

If you’re looking for a great spot to eat in Cayman, this Japanese restaurant is a total win. It’s right on the water, and the views are absolutely stunning—especially around sunset. The food is Incredible. Everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented without being over the top. Big shoutout to Marcelo, too—he made the night even better. Super friendly, really knows the menu, and made us feel totally taken care of from start to finish. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure guests have a great time. Perfect for a date night, special occasion, or just treating yourself. Highly recommend!

Kojima is a refreshing and contemporary Japanese restaurant offering stunning views of George Town's harbour. Without a doubt, it serves the best Japanese cuisine on the island, providing an exceptional balance of quality and value. The restaurant boasts the island's most extensive collection of Japanese whiskies and sake, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list and expertly crafted cocktails. Whether you're a connoisseur or simply looking for a great dining experience, Kojima delivers on all fronts."

All of the food was incredible but the star of the show was the spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer, which we had to reorder because it was THAT good. Sitting outside on the patio was so nice with the breeze coming in. Can't wait to go back!

Having just opened its doors a mere four days ago, Kojima Izakaya in George Town might be the new kid on the block, but it’s already making waves in the Cayman dining scene. Stepping in without knowing quite what to expect, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the experience. This new addition has all the makings of a future favorite, blending exceptional food, a top-tier drink selection, and warm hospitality. The Food: The quality and selection at Kojima Izakaya are undoubtedly among the best on the island. Each dish was a delight, showcasing fresh ingredients and an artful presentation that mirrored the finesse of well-established restaurants. The menu offered an impressive variety, balancing traditional Japanese izakaya fare with creative twists that kept things exciting. From melt-in-your-mouth sashimi to beautifully presented, every plate was a testament to the kitchen’s expertise. The Drinks: The bar deserves a review of its own. The drink selection was extensive, featuring both classic and inventive cocktails, an array of sake options, and a well-curated list of wines and spirits. The bartender’s skill was evident in every glass—expertly mixed and perfectly presented, elevating the entire experience. The Service: Given the buzz and the packed house, it’s understandable that service was a bit slow. However, the staff remained attentive and courteous throughout the evening. What truly stood out was the restaurant manager’s hands-on approach. It’s rare to see this level of dedication in a restaurant so new, and it speaks volumes about the management’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The Price: For the level of quality delivered, the prices were more than fair. It’s refreshing to find a place that strikes a balance between first-class dishes and reasonable pricing, making it a spot you can return to without hesitation. Final Thoughts: Kojima Izakaya is a welcome addition to Grand Cayman’s dining scene, and I can’t wait to go back. With a bit of time to smooth out the inevitable opening-week kinks, this place is sure to become a staple for locals and visitors alike. A shout-out to the restaurant manager and all the staff for turning what could have been a typical new restaurant experience into something exceptional. If you haven’t been yet, make a reservation—Kojima Izakaya is definitely worth it!

Seven of us dined at Kojima last night. Sushi and sashimi was excellent, best in Cayman. My friends had the steaks which also looked really good. Atmosphere is modern with good vibes!

Still working my way through the menu, but the hamachi collar is one of the best things I’ve eaten in Cayman. The bone marrow is also delicious though probably more enjoyable as a shared dish at the end of a meal since it’s so rich. Finally, the staff is kind and skilled. Jen who I think is the owner or manager made great suggestions and was attentive to everyone in the restaurant. I’ll come back to try the weekend brunch and other special events. Critical feedback is that the yakitori should probably come without sauce by default since the sauce has a strong sweet flavor that makes it hard to appreciate the subtleties of each skewer.

Best Japanese food ever in Cayman, highly recommended, it's good to go as a group of friends. I loved everything ❤️

Firstly, it is a beautiful venue! We were seated immediately, and the entire team was very attentive from the start, on both occasions I’ve been here. I absolutely loved the outdoor seating closest to the water. As for the food, I’ll start with my favorite dishes. The Bakunda shrimp was by far my favorite— the flavors were perfect, and the texture was spot on! The spicy tuna rice came in second. After that, I believe everything was somewhat okay. I expected more from the miso butter scallops; I had it on both occasions, and both times it was on the colder side rather than hot or warm. The yakitoris were okay. I’d probably skip them if I were to return. We had the chicken (both breast and thigh options) and pork-stuffed shishito peppers. The kimchi— I had very high hopes for this dish (since I love a good kimchi!), and while the spice was great, I couldn’t figure out why the dish had a floral taste 🤯. Both times I tried it, the floral taste was still there. For our mains, we had: • West of Cali: Not great. • Tsukiji roll: Tasty, and the preferred roll of the two. • Tonkotsu ramen: Not great either. The broth lacked flavor, and the pork was tough. I couldn’t find anything positive to say about this dish. • Sando katsu: Also a no. I don’t know if it was just an off day, but the pork cutlet seemed overcooked and dry. We also ordered another sando—beef, I believe—but I didn’t try it. Presentation-wise, it looked great, and the person who had it mentioned it was tasty. For dessert, we had the matcha cheesecake. It was very, very tasty— not too overpowering, but not too subtle either; a perfect balance. All in all, I think it’s wonderful that we have a new spot. Japan (and South Korea, as far as the kimchi goes) might have ruined me, which is why I found most of the dishes just okay. Would I go again? Yes, but not anytime soon.

Location: 10 - perfect for sunset Ambience: 8 - We expected a bespoke interior design.... The exterior specially with those cheap sails and artificial plants hanging here and there just reflect a careless touch on a area that deserved more. Extremely uncomfortable outside on real sunny days, and if you get a table inside you'll smell like food really bad. Definitely a minus! Food: 3 - the sushi's are nothing special. (Rice had different textures among the 4 sushi's we ordered.) Needs creativity. We went back for Brunch and had similar feel - nothing impressed us apart from the NY strips and the scallops. Drinks: 10 - the wine list is impressive. Fantastic for a small restaurant! Cocktails are definitely worth trying. Service: 9 - Jess is the best. Welcoming, kind, excellent knowledge of the menu and engaged well on a very pleasant conversation. Our server definitely knew his script. The entire Team has great energy. Well done for that! Price: 6 way overpriced overall for what you get. Still recommend as it's the new hub in Cayman. Perfect for any occasion.

This was my first time at this establishment and trying their brunch. I enjoyed most of the dishes and the atmosphere was lovely. Our server was friendly, though understandably quite busy with several tables. One standout note: the sashimi platter wasn’t to my liking and I wouldn’t order it again, but everything else we tried was delicious. That said, I was a bit surprised by the service style for drinks. Unlike other brunch spots where your glass is automatically refilled, I had to ask multiple times for a top-up. We also weren’t given a last call, which was odd. When I asked for a final pour at 3pm (not realizing the time), the server said it was too late. What made it more disappointing was seeing two nearby tables receive last pours right after we were told no - it didn’t feel great to be treated differently. I don't know......I'd like to revisit but I'm hesitant.

The food was genuinely great and we really enjoyed our meal up until the very end. Unfortunately, we found a very long hair in our dessert, which completely took away from the experience. When we brought it to the manager’s attention, her response was disappointing she was judgmental and unapologetic, and immediately stated she didn’t believe it came from her staff. Accidents happen, but the way an issue is handled matters just as much as the food. Sadly, the response overshadowed what could have otherwise been a great dining experience.

E
Ed Lee

This is not a legit Izakaya. This is a Japanese restaurant with some modern atmosphere but the food is below average quality. It’s more like all you can eat sushi and sashimi place-like. So if you’re expecting some high quality sushi and sashimi, this is not the place you should go. We had steak and roll specials but unfortunately neither the beef nor the special rolls were good. Even the side salad did not come with the popular ginger sauce that we normally get from Japanese place but a typical Caesar dressing. Because of their service and the atmosphere, I am giving two stars.

R
Robert Clark

Food was good. However calling my wife to tell us we are 15 minutes late and our dinner would be cut short was too much to overcome…nothing felt hospitable and we never felt welcomed or appreciated. We did not enjoy the experience
