Went in a party of 3, from the outside it looked pack, we were seated in matter of minutes. The waitress was busy but friendly, we had coffee and water within minutes. She took our food order with no problem. We had our meals rather quickly. I would have to say we were in and out under an hour. I would go back without a second thought. If the management is reading this, thank you.
We moved to the capital district 5 years ago and had never found a great place to eat. We now have a new favorite. The food is spectacular and the service shines.
Its been a minute since my family has been here, but we love this place and the owners are so sweet! Deserts are homemade by the owners mom, we call her mama. She is the sweetest woman. Food is delicious and very affordable. I def. recommended this restaurant, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Great, classic diner atmosphere. Service was stellar. Food was top notch diner fare. So much food, I couldn't finish.
This is our weekly breakfast stop. Service is very fast and the food is always tasty. We have been getting take-out more due to COVID and it is always packed hot and within 5 minutes. Love the various benedicts. They have always accommodated my requests for changes/substitutions. Menu is diverse and large and they often have specials. If they were open for dinner, I probably would not eat anywhere else.
Our favorite diner! We go for the food but especially to see Aphrodite! She is the best. So funny and cheerful.
Waitress was amazing- friendly and on top of everything but not overbearing. Seated quickly and reasonable wait time for food. I'll be back! French toast with strawberries, banana and whipped cream! Western omelet with homefries and corned beef hash- crispy!😊 Hot coffee that waitress kept topped off even though there wasn't a free table in the place! Ate so quickly forgot about a pic but trust me it was all good!😇😍
Used to eat here a lot when I lived nearby. Went recently with my 2 daughters and family and the food was just as good as I remember it being. Great service too.
Went in here recently for the first time - can’t believe it took me so long to check it out. Great service and the pulled pork omelet was delicious. Great place for breakfast and excited to check it out again. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice local place to eat.
Good Food! Breakfast stop this morning. Enjoyed the seasoned home fries. The omelettes were good too. Pancakes were tasty and definitely filling. Quick service.
This is our favorite diner. We go there mostly for breakfast but have also been to a few lunch dates there, as well. Always good food, fast service and a welcoming face to greet us.
Excellent breakfast, friendly, quick service and very good value! Will definitely return again.
The service is always phenomenal. The food comes out quickly and never disappoints. There are two other diners around, but this one takes the cake. Will be visiting again soon :)
My girlfriends and I went for breakfast. The sausages were so good we asked where they came from. PA by the way. The coffee was delicious. The service made us decide to go there every time we visit Schenectady.
Lady at front desk was very kind and the food is delicious. Will come back.
This Diner stands out above many that I've visited. It's all marble all over which makes for a very clean facility. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The staff are very polite and cheerful.
I finally got around to going here & it was worth the wait!! I was there for breakfast & I love the menu selection, had a hard time deciding!! I ended up going with the French Toast breakfast sandwich, it was freaking delicious!! The place is very clean & our server was very friendly & attentive! I'll definitely be going back to try other menu options!!
Amazing place. A must go to while in Albany county.
It's a very busy place on Sunday, The waitress was very attentive with filling coffee and making sure we're all right. First time there I would recommend it to other people. Will definitely be visiting again
Amazing! One of the best diners I’ve been to. Ordered the omelette with home fries, that was super fresh, home cooking. Our waitress was a sweet older woman who made our day. Service with a smile, very attentive, great value (good portions), unlimited fresh food coffee (not burnt). A hidden gem, that’s worth a stop. The place was full of locals, great energy, kind staff and very affordable. I’m surprised about the lower reviews, we had a great experience! Highly recommend. Super yummy!
Great little diner with amazing food...hint try the blueberry French toast. Server was amazing and friendly. Owner walks around and visits with the diners. Great atmosphere. Loved everything about it. Stayed in the area 2 nights and ate breakfast there twice. It was so good we had to go back!
This is a new favorite place for me and my husband. He had the open face turkey sandwich and I had the open face roast beef. Both were hearty helpings. The fries were fresh and delicious. This place obviously makes sure their oil is changed regularly. The food is delicious! This place is clean and has a very relaxed/comfortable atmosphere. The service is wonderful. We will be returning.
Didn't get pics this time but that didn't stop me from reviewing! It was clean..affordable...delicious food. What I stopped to review was the service. The family vibes and hospitality was instantly noticed from a hello as we walked in to the friendly and prompt service throughout! Just truly amazing! They clearly love what they do and I can't believe it has taken me this long to stop in to eat. ONLY thing I wished for was a bigger coffee cup BUT it never mattered because it was quickly filled!! New breakfast spot for sure!!!
Excellent service with a smile. Food was out fast and fresh, great start to the day! Went for brunch today with 4 of us, not a long wait at all still friendly and fast service. We got the make your own omelet, colonies breakfast, and the kids shared chocolate chip pancakes. Thanks for a great experience!
Family owned, delicious food. I noticed wait staff remember what regulars prefer for beverages. I’ve been there for both breakfast and lunch and have never been disappointed.
If you like diners... this is a place to go. Excellent service. Good diner food. Great place to eat if you are hungover. Staff gave one in our party a shot of pickle juice for hangover. Never heard that before but it worked! Reasonably priced menu.
Absolutely amazing. The food and service was excellent. Loved the Waitress, which was the owner. She was Witty , funny n a sweetheart. Absolutely coming back again. New favorite sport for breakfast.
Clean and quiet diner. Service was immediate, and the food came fast. It's sad that they close early. Maybe just the day I was there? Will definetly visit again.
have never written a review before, but thought this place deserved some recognition. incredible food, bacon was not crispy but it was still delicious which is hard to find! Coffee was hot and delicious as well, amazing service, and great prices. came here because one diner was too busy, and they did not disappoint. will start coming here every weekend !
This is the kind of diner we love going to. Food was exactly as expected, coffee was much better than expected. The service was great, it was like having my grandmother serve us. The owner is a lovely lady, and she has a great sense of humor. I'd go back.
Very pleased with our breakfast yesterday morning. Had to bring my son to the airport, stopped in based of the reviews as we are from out of town. Food came out so fast I couldn't believe it and our waitress was so nice and attentive. Paid about $35 for two of us and the food was really good!! Very clean and even the ketchup tops were clean!! Its def the little things!! I would really recommend if your down in the Albany area!
If I could give the service 10 stars I would. The waitress was awesome and professional. The food was too much for the low cost and quality. I can't say enough about my new go to spot
No pictures as others have nailed it. The food was excellent, fast and presented wonderfully. Our server was Veronica A and she was absolutely amazing and even interacted with our children. Prices were actually a little low in my opinion. Unfortunately we're just passing through the area, but would 💯 percent stop by again.
Fantastic!!Our first time here and it WON'T be the last! Our server Elisabeth was great. She took the time to explain the specials and kept the coffee cups full until we had our fill! The food was excellent. 2 of us had the delicious eggs, home fries, biscuit with sausage gravy. The other had the pulled pork omelet, and while is wasn't exactly what we expected, it was still delicious! Can't wait to go back again to experience non breakfast items... the sounded wonderful!
Great little dinner with great service and food. It's the only place that has gotten the potatoes right when we asked for them extra crispy. They weren't burnt or under done but had a nice caramelized taste.
My partner and I had a great experience here. Good food, good service, good everything. Nothing but net.
New dinner menu. Food delicious and priced right. Our new favorite place for dinner
Great service! Great atmosphere! Truckers special was great and filling!! 3 eggs, toast, home fries and your choice of meats! I got a bunch of turkey bacon!!
Great service. I took my disabled brother for breakfast and he loved it. The staff were awesome. Very patient and understanding. Great family place. Will go again.
My favorite diner in the Capital District! Been going since I was a kid and its always stellar.
Breakfast was very good. The omelets, eggs, homefries, and toast were very well prepared and delicious. The nice woman serving us made our day with her great attitude and attentiveness. Our coffee cups were never empty! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast or lunch.
Enjoyed dinner! Friendly staff, good food and reasonable price. Good specials.
Great food and service while out of town.
Food and servers were great. The wait staff is attentive to special preparation of the order. We liked this place with the old management but the new staff is even better. We will be regular patrons.

Classic all time favorite. We've found that Colonie diner is under new ownership. The breakfast was still awesome as was the excellent service. A little work on the building and parking lot would help make this establishment come back to life again. It is in a perfect location because of the constant traffic that goes by this business everyday.
We had the opportunity/honor to visit the New York State in JUN_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about NY's history and legacy. We swing by at Colonie Diner, and for sure it's a remarkable place. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege enjoy the amazing food and outstanding atmosphere.
This diner is outstanding. The food, the slightly snarky waitress and the atmosphere are all on point. I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict with home fries. The eggs were beautifully cooked, breaking in a gorgeous runny yellow when cut. The muffin was crispy, but not overdone. The Hollandaise sauce was perfect with just the right amount of lemon. I haven't had home fries like this in years! Crispy on the edges, soft and billowy potatoes in the middle, all with translucent onions. The portion size was exactly l what I wanted. I left full, but not stuffed. I'm a tea drinker and they understand how to serve tea here. Most diners offer unlimited coffee, but when you ask for a second cup of tea, they usually just bring you a cup of hot water and expect you to reuse the old tea bag. Not here! Tea was served with two tea bags, a full cup and a pot of hot water. Excellent! I can't wait to go back.
Always plenty of seating or the wait is very short. The resturant is well kept. I always look at the ceiling in places and it's immaculate here. The staff is very attentive and the food is high quality at a reasonable price. My go to is the Colonial with pancakes and scrambled eggs for $13.
So happy to have found this spot in the Albany area. Was up late the night before and had a late breakfast here the following day that hit the spot. Coffee was iced and way better than I expected it to be. Eggs Benedict was awesome and went great with the potatoes served with it. The one thing that blew me away about this place was how fast we got our food. The food came out in less than 5 minutes. The fasted I have ever been served breakfast at any sit down restaurant. And everything was cooked to perfection. Such a great little spot. Staff were all super friendly which stood out to me as well.
Great diner. Always buy bacon burger and fries and the food is always served hot and as requested. Wait staff is attentive and the parking adequate. Usually the dining area is clean, though not 100% of the time (sometimes the floors need attention).
Very good breakfast but a bit pricey. Service was also good. I found it odd that a board had specials on it yet the prices were the same as the menu prices. Not really specials. You'd think that they would at least include coffee or tea if it's highlighted as a special.
It is a good diner... it could just use a remodel compared to other local diners.
I was impressed with the server. I must say she was exceptional and it was a breathe of fresh air to be treated well. She listened to our needs and the pancakes beat out IHOP and Denny's. Their home fries are REAL potatoes. Something my brother loves to make at home lol We were in/out in about an hour with 4 of us.
Went here for the first time to have breakfast with friends. It was pretty busy. Our waitress was nice. Food was pretty good. I ordered the cinnamon bun French toast. It was pretty good. Also ordered a side of home fries. It was extra for peppers and onions but it only came with a lot of onions. Would have been nice if they were seasoned. Otherwise, no complaints from the table. Overall, would go back again to try other things.
Sadly the French toast was flavorless and the syrup they give you is the same. No complaints about the scrambled eggs or bacon. Should have gotten the sausage gravy.
We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning. The menu has a wide selection and you had your pick of anything. It was also packed but we didn't wait long for a table for four. Our server was nice and our plates came out from the kitchen quickly. The food was excellent and the portions are very large. Very reasonably priced for what you get.
Food was great, eggs and beacon perfect. Great staff, great diner.
My country Benedict was very good 👍
Classic diner vibe, with quick and friendly service. Good food. A great way to start your day.
My girlfriend and I go to this diner once in a while. The last time I went I had breakfast. They always have great food I had their Sausage and Biscuits with scrambled eggs. I enjoyed everything as usual, but I didn't realize that the hash browns had onions in them!!! Oops!!! (Let's just say that onions and I are NOT friends!!!) Next time I get to go there, I will have to remember that!!! And some day I have to try a dessert!!!
Since the ownership switched the food has gotten better, the hours better; now they're open for dinner. Friendly service
This place was fine except for how they undercooked my sausage. That was really gross. Belgium waffles and eggs were decent though
Service was great with Dana as our waitress. Toast wasn't done. Not a lot of butter and the home fries were terrible. The eggs were ok but how can you ruin eggs? Not my best go to for breakfast..
Second time there. Food and service is ok. Had the Irish Benedict and the eggs were way too overcooked, they were over hard. Not what I expected.
Hello all, recently started working in the area. I have been to this diner a couple of times. It is very overpriced, food quality is average. Also do not show up past 1:15 or they are closed despite saying 2.
Potatoes were under cooked. Seasoning a little odd. Great service and friendly staff
Servers are friendly and welcoming. Food is average. Booths look recently remodeled. It was cold in there. Heard manager speaking with a customer saying he doesn't turn up the heat because then his kitchen staff gets hot. It was ice cold in there. Had to keep my coat on. The food was nothing to rave about. The service was best thing this place has going for it. Don't think I'll be back.
First time coming to this diner and the food is full of flavor, well prepared and delicious. Hostess was very kind and accommodating, the one thing I do have to say is one of the servers had an attitude although it wasn’t busy, and she seemed in a huge rush. I also overheard her talking to the guests in front of my table in a condescending manner when they asked questions about the menu. It’s the smallest things that matter especially in the food service industry.
The blueberry pancakes here were very good and they smelled delicious, I wonder if they add vanilla to the batter. The eggs, bacon, and sausage tasted like typical diner food, not bad. The staff here is super friendly, the prices are reasonable, but the decor could use some updating.
It was just a very, mediocre experience. It felt like I was eating food that 12-year-old me used to make for breakfast. It’s not bad, but it’s nothing to get excited about. The service was fine, attentive and friendly staff. The atmosphere was just kind of… meh. Overly quiet with an emptiness to it. Fair prices, but you pay for what you get.
Not the best breakfast. Ordered the Truckers Special with Egg whites. Some how the eggs were over cooked & dry on the top, yet undercooked & greasy on the bottom. Overall, neither part tasted particularly good. The toast was ok but not buttered very well. Can see in the picture it is just a small circle in the middle rather than edge to edge. Bacon was good and so was the ham. The sausage was meh and the home fries were not seasoned very well. Tasted more like a cut up baked potato. Do not think I will be back again.
1st time there and probably the last. The service was good but the food was awful. Greek omelette had very little feta and was tasteless. My wife's "hollandaise " sauce tasted like wall paper paste. It makes me wonder when your food comes out in less than 5 minutes about the prep- the homefries and hash had been sitting for a while and were warmed up. Said to say, but probably the worst breakfast I have ever had to pay for.
This place has seen better days. You are greeted not too friendly way. The place was crowded and hot. Must have been 80 degrees inside. They also said can't order water because of some colonies water boiling issue...?! The food took awhile and was much more expensive than it should have been. At least our waitress was nice The bathrooms were dirty and smelly, with soap dispensers sitting on the counter and no paper towels. Both women's and men's bathrooms were gross. I would not go back here or recommend it.
Not a great quality diner by any stretch of the imagination. Much better options I the Albany area. Unfortunately we were told that there was no water due to a boil order because of water contamination but when I got home I found out the order was over 4 hours prior. The food was standard for a diner, nothing exceptional, and too pricey. Restaurant was very hot and dirty, especially the bathrooms were gross. Slippery dirty floors. No paper towels, barely any toilet paper. I wouldn't return. Like I said, better options in the area.
Kind of dirty and trash on entry. Food was just mediocre and toast was burned. I don't understand why a restaurant would serve toast when it's obvious to everyone that it is burned. Eggs and bacon were cooked right, but just seemed to be low quality. The waitress was nice, attentive and prompt. She should look for a job in a better restaurant.
Ordered a burger medium well, made it deluxe. The burger came out with no LTO and was well done. Waited 10 minutes for the LTO while the staff argued amongst themselves. Service was relatively good, but the kitchen was awful.
When arriving u can tell the immediate change in atmosphere with old owners not running the place anymore. Seems slightly caodic with operations and service. We were waited on by Jessica and received soda with no taste and pure carbonation when I asked for another drink she did apologize but gave a attitude like it was an inconvenience for her. Waited almost ten minutes for food when we finally received it food was ok bread was flat like a tortilla a lot of mayo on both sandwiches. Asked for cheese on the one sandwich and didn't get the cheese on it. When mentioned to Jessica about the excessive mayo and no cheese she asked if we wanted another sandwich and at this point of being there so long and witnessing other employees arguing in the dinner area and swearing taking place we just wanted out. She without even asking if we wanted the fries on the plate snatched the entire plate and took it away as in we just got out in time out. When we asked for the check it took 5 plus minutes just to get the check. They did take off for the sandwich that was made incorrectly and loaded with mayo. When we went up to pay the women did offer to not charge for the other food put declined and paid for the meal that was eaten. Jessica was just overall rude and had no problem going around the restaurant to other workers and announcing the issues taking place and overall made the experience one to not forget and definitely leaves an impression on us to not return any time soon if that's the type of service that is being delivered there.
This was the first time I tried this restaurant traveling out of town for work and I have to say I was extremely disappointed overall. I ordered eggs Benedict and the ham was overcooked the eggs were very slimy, the English muffin was all dried out and the sausage links were subpar at best. Definitely not worth the 23.00 dollars plus tip I spent!
My husband ordered the Chef Salad, it was suppose to come with a hard boiled egg, tomato and cucumber, I believe he was suppose to get a dinner roll with it. When it came out there was only the meat rolled up on a bed of lettuce. We informed the waitress and she brought a small plate with sliced tomato on it and said sorry about the egg but never brought anything else. He had ordered coffee and it seemed everyone else had theirs refilled but him, we had to ask when the food came. I ordered a Greek Wrap, it was suppose to come for fries, cole slaw and pickle. There was no cole slaw. I was going to mention it but we decided the mess with the salad was enough. We were still charged full price for the meals even though items were missing. I know if we had ordered either the cole slaw or hard boiled egg additionally they would have charged us. Truly we were very disappointed in the meal and service. My husband became sick after returning home, he had added so much dressing to his salad I am not sure if he could tell the meat was off. Doubt we will be returning and it use to be a favorite spot.
Terrible experience. Their prices aren't up to date they claim they don't have a website and charge whatever they want for w.ev. rude and the food taste like rubber. Would never recommend if it was someone's last meal. Awful service and snotty and looking to scam others not to make it a joyful experience. Would never wish this upon anyone.
I stopped in for breakfast, food was good. I didn't sign my credit card slip and was charged $47 for a$14 bill . Becareful!! Edit...yes I returned and the money was refunded
Service was bad food came out wrong i changed item but they still charged me for it 😒
I want to start by saying I’ve been here before and wasn’t disappointed like I was today. I ordered a Greek wrap and instead of fries I wanted a small salad. I ordered a Caesar salad. The wrap was soggy and fell apart totally when I only tried to pick it up. They brought me fries anyway. The ceasar salad did not come with ceasar dressing it was more of a creamy Italian dressing. I did tell the waitress and that didn’t make a difference.
The server was sweet. That’s the nicest thing I have to say. The potato’s for hash browns were anemic and RAW, like hard raw. I can’t even discuss the sausage patty ( I asked the server to please take it off my plate because it was so disgusting to look at. A grizzly bit of Italian sausage smashed into a patty and served with breakfast). It looked well past its prime. All of that and all of the tiny bugs that kept biting me at the booth? I went to sit in the car meal untouched while my husband finished. Skeeve factor 10. My husband NEVER complains…..he complained. Do not recommend.
