Always wanted to try Beef Wellington, well worth waiting for. It was beautiful, carrots, dauphinoise potatoes and sauces were lovely too. Really made it special that the Chef brought it out to us and checked on how we liked it. Our server Aidan also gets a big mention, he was so lovely. Will definitely be back, loved it.
If I could give 6 stars I would. One of the best dinners I’ve ever eaten. Me and my partner went for the Beef Wellington. Before that our starters were fantastic and set us up perfectly for the main event. The Wellington was absolutely incredible. Service wise we had Aidan who was very good at their job, service was quick, efficient and friendly. On a further note I thought the atmosphere was great. Amazing choice in music that wasn’t too loud but perfect for a dinner. We will definitely be back to try their other options. We went for the Wellington as it was an occasion dinner. But the look of their Sunday Roasts made up our minds that we will be back. They also do a mini menu which is very reasonably priced which also looks great.
If you're looking for a good steak and can appreciate dryage, go to Merchant Steakhouse. Aiden and Leif made my wife and I feel at home during our vacation. They recommended several items and I decided on the mandarin and plum cocktail, which was delicious. I was also so excited we ate the steak before remembering to take a photo of it... 😅 Next time in the city, I'll be swinging by here!
We visited the Merchant Steakhouse on Saturday night and really enjoyed our visit. We were looked after by Joe who was an excellent host and very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and meat cuts. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, and the service was excellent. The ambiance was great, and the restaurant is very stylish. It's a little pricey but lovely for a treat. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully return next time we are in Glasgow.
We came in for Valentine’s Day lunch. The restaurant had a great ambiance and despite having a full restaurant the staff made the place feel very relaxed. Our server Joe was lovely and so helpful, knowledgeable and non judgemental of my well done preferences aha. Nothing could have been done better. Food was lovely and everything we needed was there in a seconds notice :)
We had an amazing meal for 3 on Saturday night. 2 10oz flliets and 1 8oz fillet with a mixture of sides and sauces. 4 days on and my mouth is still watering at the thought of of how good it was. The service from Sophie when we arrived was first class. Her knowledge of the menu and her description of the items made it a difficult choice of what to order as it all sounded so good! We will absolutely be back in the near future.
Went here for my husband’s birthday, and wow what an experience! Not only was the food amazing but our server, Kavi, was incredible. The service he provided was excellent - attentive, fast and polite. Both my husband and I finished every last bite of the food (fillet steak and sea bass). We will 100% be back!
I have dined in Glasgow for years and had a lot of very good experiences. This place is a little gem and the best meal in Glasgow av had hands down. Special mention to the head chef who explained perfectly about all the different cuts and made us feel very welcome he is a credit to the restaurant. Can’t speak more highly of the place.
One of the best filet steaks I've ever tasted. Skinny fries and peppercorn sauce were a perfect match. Great wines too and friendly and attentive staff. Perfect place for an intimate relaxed dinner with friends. Already looking forward to coming back.
The food was absolutely incredible. They explained the aging process so well. Joe, our waiter was very friendly and informative making us feel very welcomed, even without a reservation. The ambiance was beautiful, with great music! Definitely recommend giving this place a try while in Glasgow!
Had the Beef Wellington. It was outstanding, and enjoyed everything that came with it - the sides and the sauces. All perfectly cooked by an excellent chef and team. The service was also outstanding. Friendly but still professional. And they asked if we wanted the glasses warming for the armagnac, which doesn't happen very often these days, even in high-end restaurants. It's those little touches that make things just that bit better. Shout out to our particular staff Joe and Olivia. A night worth every penny, and the pounds as well.
I came across this restaurant via a simple google search. However you can never necessarily trust the reviews and therefore the ratings! This place definitely stands up to all the reviews. My son and husband had a 45 day aged steak. I had the tandoori chicken supreme with onion rings. Delightful doesn’t even begin to explain it! The team and their knowledge about not only the beef but the wine is second to none. The maitre de - Jo is super helpful and the waiters attentive without being overbearing!
I had a sirloin steak with mash, followed by a raspberry cheesecake chocolate sundae and a latte. The steak and mash were amazing and full of flavor, cooked very well. The dessert and latte were just average, nothing bad but not memorable. The place itself has a great atmosphere, and the staff were very nice, polite, and helpful throughout the visit. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
We visited The Merchant Steakhouse recently and honestly, the food was outstanding. We went for the Tomahawk sharer and it was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly to our liking. You definitely have to order the Chimichurri which was fresh and zesty, and the Truffle Mac & Cheese was a massive hit. The cocktails were also flawless. While the bill was on the higher side.. it is expected for quality sourced steak. I'd absolutely recommend The Merchant Steakhouse, and be sure to have a look at the hanging cuts being aged downstairs.
We visited for the Sunday roast as it came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the cheeseburger spring rolls and the Bloody Mary are not to be missed! The wonderful bartender will even make it to a spice level of your choosing. The staff were friendly and inviting. Kavi was our server, he was polite and so attentive. He was very knowledgeable about the whiskey menu and made us feel very welcome. Definitely will not be our last visit!
Joe served us, he was absolutely fabulous at his job. Went through the menu as I hadn’t been here before, although my husband had. Recommended wines and sides to go with our sharing chateaubriand steak. All went fantastic to the dish, and I would highly recommend coming here and having Joe as your server. Fantastic experience and will be back again. Husband took me here for my belated birthday meal
Our food was spectacular and Kavi was a wonderful server! He was so attentive to our needs and endured all of our ridiculous questioning 😆! For our steaks we ordered the sirloin and the ribeye, along with the sourdough bread and scallops for our starters (not pictured), and sides of broccoli and whipped potatoes. All the food was great, we’d recommend the sirloin and the scallops - if you’re getting the sourdough bread, you should get the caramelized apple spread.
First time coming and it was great from food to the service from our server Aidan who explained the menu very well to me and my wife would highly recommend this to everyone
Came out for a celebration dinner. Pre ordered beef wellington. Starters and key lime pie for dessert - asked for extra ice cream as sharing. Beef wellington exceptionally good. Sides also very enjoyable. Good service and not too formal atmosphere. Will return.
Amazing food and exceptional service by Darcy, who explained the menu and assisted with any questions. We were also very grateful as we hadn't booked and were still able to get a table. Will definitely be again if we visit Glasgow again in the future!
Perfect night for spending quality time together! Aidan was a 5* star host & took care of us!
First experience and have to say 5 star all the way. Food was exceptional, great atmosphere but what took it up a level had to be the Service by the amazing Joe. A credit to the restaurant and will definitely be back
Celebrated a birthday meal with my daughter & wanted to try somewhere different. I’m so glad I chose The Merchant Steakhouse. From the moment we arrived, the attention given by all, but especially Darcy, was the right level of service without being overbearing. With a light and friendly atmosphere, we were seated at a comfortable booth as Darcy carefully explained the menu options. My daughter had the cheeseburger spring rolls to start with whilst I had the scallops. I have to say, the scallops were the best I’ve ever tasted - cooked to perfection and so flavourful. The cheeseburger spring rolls went down well with my daughter too. We both had the 8oz fillet steak, medium - rare & rare, with mash, buttered green vegetables and peppercorn & red wine sauce, with a side order of mac and cheese. All were cooked to perfection again and the steak was delicious. Malbec paired so well with the meal & the complementary prosecco upon arrival as a birthday treat was a lovely touch. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and I know my daughter is already planning to take her partner here for his birthday. Well done to everyone on duty on 11th June - you made a special day even more so. Thank you!
Came here twice in a weekend. Amazing steak and starter then tried their famous Sunday roast, and I can confidently say it’s the best in town. Perfectly cooked beef, rich gravy, and those Yorkshire puddings… divine. The atmosphere is cozy yet refined. Very very good service from this lovely girl with a blonde hair? (The lighting is too dark to tell the colour of her hair) and good value for money. Having tried a few different steakhouse in Glasgow, this one is definitely by far my favourite.
We had an amazing meal, best steak in years. Staff were brilliant with a special shout out to Joe. I have to also point out the evening we were in there was a lady diner whose behaviour was atrocious, she was loud and obnoxious and aggressive towards the staff. They handled it impeccably but I wouldn’t have given her a free meal as we suspect that was her end goal! Can’t wait to return :)
It was amazing the food was spot on the arrive was impeccable definitely coming back when I’m next in Glasgow!
Without doubt, this is the best steakhouse I’ve ever been to. The beef Wellington was a thing to behold. It was visually stunning and tasted better than it looked. Even the sides were executed perfectly and a flavour packed Jus to bring it all together. The staff were always on hand and very friendly. The chef even personally brought the wellington to the table. 100% will visit again. Thank you for a flawless experience. ** Input from girlfriend ** I had to sneak in a mention about the scallops, they were so good. I’d have been delighted with multiple plates of scallops for my meal.
We had a great meal at The Merchant Steakhouse in Glasgow, with excellent service from Aiden. The steaks were cooked exactly as ordered, well-seasoned, and clearly top quality. That said, it is very expensive—even for a premium steak—and the added 10% service charge felt a bit much, especially when you’re already paying top-end prices. It’s definitely a treat, but perhaps not one you’d indulge in too often.
The beef wellington was amazing!! Our server Troy took great care of us and knew a lot about the menu. We’ll definitely be back !
Me and my partner came here for our first anniversary! Lovely atmosphere, amazing service and outstanding food! Thank you Joe and team for the amazing night!!
My friend and I had the pleasure of spending the evening here! The food, drinks, and service exceeded our expectations - it was outstanding! The staff were very hospitable and friendly, ensuring we were happy with each course. They gave great food recommendations and were knowledgable about the drinks they serve, particularly the red wine which was to die for! The manager also welcomed us personally as we entered the restaurant, seated us in a fantastic spot, checked in with us during our meal and kindly took some photos of us upon our request! It was an all round fantastic dining experience and we’ll 100% be back!
Lorena was such an incredible host for our meal, the sweetest energy, super helpful, really made our visit. GIVE HER A RAISE!! The food is absolutely incredible, I love that the chef came to speak to us about the restaurant and why they do what they do. This place is really special, truly a gem in Glasgow and we will 100% be back.
Service and food was fantastic, Olivia was a gem, and her wine recommendation was perfect. Would love to come back some time
First time and brilliant, great server Aiden and food was lovely. We will definitely be back.
By far the best steak dinner I have ever had, Joe served us - he spoke through everything on the menu and made me up a special cocktail which was devineeee. Went for the 10oz steak and I was blown away. I will be rolling home after that lol. Thank you so much will definitely be back!
Next-level Sunday lunch! We had an incredible Sunday lunch in fantastic surroundings with impeccable service and stunning food. Upgrading to the shared chateaubriand was absolutely the right choice – perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The desserts were an amazing finish, the cocktails were gorgeous, and the Malbec paired beautifully. Not sure how their recruitment team gets away with it, but every member of staff had model-good looks and irresistible charm. A special mention to Ester, who looked after us so wonderfully – Brazilian by origin with the most delightful Scottish hybrid accent, she was an absolute delight. Can’t wait to return!
Had a lovely time on Valentine's day as a single person doing a walk-in, despite the obviously busy period. Staff managed to squeeze me in and treated me nicely. Special shout-out to Esther who was the epitome of hospitality and deserves the praise. Will definitely be coming again.
Olivia was incredible, friendly and professional. Service was very quick. And the steak? Insanely good. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavour. Easily one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Steak was amazing, we’ll definitely be back. Our server Aidan was very knowledgable about the menu and explained the in-house process of aging the meat. We also had other servers who’s names I didn’t catch but the whole team on 17/02/26 were great 😊
Overall kind of underwhelmed… Deliberated where we were going to spend our night with many options & ended up choosing The Merchant Steakhouse. Arrived without a booking at 8.30pm on a Saturday, we were absolutely starving, got a table no problem, great! We were sat at the left side of the restaurant as you walk in (we didn’t really care at the point, anywhere was fine for us). But when sat there you could see it definitely lacked ambience as opposed to the right side, it was quite bright & the chairs are quite uncomfortable. We had the menu explained to us and about all the cuts of meat & costs etc, the service was great from start to finish no problem there at all, very attentive staff! We opted for the tomahawk 1.2kg, which we were then informed it was actually finished - but the waiter offered us a different cut (2 500g bone in ribeye) which was a more “premium” cut for the same price. We asked for both medium well & were informed the cooking time could be 40/45 mins, which it was. When the steaks arrived we could tell instantly at least one was heavily over cooked it was basically black on the outside & very charcoal. As we were famished we didn’t want to make a huge fuss especially as the cooking time would’ve been another long wait & hadn’t had any starters or anything else. I ended up giving my partner more of my steak as it wasn’t as bad and I ate the other one. Sides and sauces were average at best. Sparkling water, one medium glass of rose wine, one non alcoholic beer, the two steaks, 2 small sauces & equally small sides - £190!! This was including service charge, but we just feel as a whole it wasn’t worth that in the slightest, had far better steak dinners at other spots for a fraction of that cost sparing nothing! Not too sure I could recommend on this experience but, will probably give it another go.
Dined here on a busy Saturday night, the starters were very good, mini wellington especially, short rib also though could have don't with a little more glaze or drizzle of the hot honey. We opted for a shared aged tomahawk, cooked perfectly to our taste, flavourful and tender. The truffle butter and red wine jus were great accompaniments. Sides of fries and maple glazed carrots were good complement to the dish. We also got the scallop and prawn toppers. They came quite a bit later than the steak itself though and one of the scallops were hilariously tiny, prawns were a good size and well cooked. Couple little niggles beside the late sides, they had ran out of ingredients for the drink I ordered though the substitute was OK, didn't have the dessert we ordered either, and it took a little while to pay the bill in the end. For two starters, the sharing steak (1.2kg at £14 per 100g) with sides (including 2 toppers) and two drinks it's was upwards of £240. Would definitely go again, but I've definitely had better meals for that price point (and far below) in Glasgow.
We came without reservation. We were lucky it was about 1 p.m. and not crowded but I recommend to reserve a table. The staff and our Waiter Corey were super friendly and professional. We had Filet and we ordered them Medium Well. Unfortunately the meat was too well and a bit dry. Maybe we should have ordered Medium or the problem was, that it was cooked too long. Thats why it was a bit overpriced the experience. The Mac N Cheese Lobster Springroll is really good. The Sides were delicious we got offered Broccoli but then they forgot to serve it. We got them later and Corey didnt charge it. We gave a tip that was very very enough so I think the funny thing is that we paid the Broccoli in this price. But I would anyway recommend to visit the restaurant, mistakes can happen sometimes.
We had Duck and beef bourguignon .Duck was delicious but the dish it self was too small, would have to eat 3 courses to go out fed and satisfied. Beef bourguignon was good but some of the meat in it was on the dry side and bitter -almost like burnt. All this served with just a little ball of mash potatoes swimming in a lot of dark intense souse and no salad made me feel envy after eating. So I won't be back for that dish but I am tempted to go and try some of the steaks. The service was great (they charge additional £10 for it btw). Atmosphere was nice apart from the intense smell of toilet when the door were opened....
Scallops to start were incredible! But we ordered the beef wellington (in advance as stated) and both felt it was just fine… I’d rather if I’m dishing out that kind of expense, that my food is more than just fine. Lovely interior, slightly cold for me but my partner was comfortable. Staff were very friendly, but became a little overbearing after a while as the restaurant was empty for the first half of our reservation so we had a lot of small talk with multiple staff members. All in all, it was fine! But the scallops though 🤩
The Chateaubriand was beautiful despite being served cold. The fillet was so cold and served with burnt onion rings that unfortunately had to be sent back to the kitchen. Tomohawk was lovely. Sides were all overcooked or burnt. Possibly the dryest dauphinoise potatoes I’ve seen. Manager on duty couldn’t have been less interested to hear any feedback.
The photos on the website are very different from the actual dishes you receive. The plates are quite plain and lack proper seasoning, and the side portions are very small. Considering the quality and presentation of the food, the prices do not feel justified. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations.
