Small plates, for me,is the way to go. They aren't so small and you get to try so many things. The pasta is awesome and comes in two sizes,so if you are a small eater the smaller portion is more than enough. Having not come here since covid, tonight was terrific. Great food, fantastic bottle of Tuscan red and a full house which was awesome to see.

This place is a gem ;-). Only a few weeks prior to the first lockdown in 2020, I returned home to celebrate my 65th birthday, along with the birthdays of my family-of-friends (FOFs) and my two grown kids. We gathered at The Meritage Wine Bar in Glen Cove, NY, an enthusiastic mix of boomers and echo boomer kids. Not only were the tapa plates, wine, beer & cocktails, deserts and specialty coffees ‘deeeelish’ (and so well priced), but the atmosphere and super friendly service was top notch. The owner, manager, bartenders and serving staff are a truly a great bunch. Nearing the end of 2020, once again I’m back in NY to celebrate at the Meritage another year here in Earth School. However, this time ‘‘outside’ with only my daughter and her significant other. And while I’m sad our FOFs cannot join us, I’m looking forward to celebrating my 66th at the Meritage Wine Bar once again ;-). Jamie Spafford

Its been a few days and im excited for the next visit. We went there for a party so foods were preselected . The salad was very pleasant with diverse flavors. We had a variety of chicken and seaford. Service was great, decor cleanliness great space

Great spot for wine and tapas. Good food selection; we've been 3 or 4 times now and haven't come close to running out of new options to try. Especially nice on a warm sunny afternoon when they open the doors and you can sit at the bar and watch the passers by.

I am a stickler for costumer service and professionalism and MWB meets all both ends. It's a cozy yet upscale location for any event. Rachael is the the best. If you need anything, she will go above and beyond for your request. I usually go out of town for an appetizer or a drink with friends but I'm glad I found a great place in my home town! Drinks are amazing. The wine selection is great. Food is delicious. Must try the calamari and meatballs! Highly recommend. (I NEVER write a review but I had to MWB) :)

A little too loud for new years with their DJ but we had a fantastic dinner. Their wine selection is no joke too! Will certainly go back for special occasions or just to have a fun night out.

We stumbled upon MWB after a visit to the beach. MWB brings all the vibes and atmosphere that you would want to encounter in a restaurant/bar setting. Andrew and Alex were fantastic hosts and they created a sense of belongingness for us. We are grateful to have been able to experience the setting, the people and the conversation. We even made some new friends thanks to Alex and his sense of humor. It’s this type of rapport building that makes customers want to return to the establishment and that’s exactly why I’d be returning. Highly recommended! PS. The drinks were also fantastic, we got the “Naked & Famous” and if you want something a little more Instagram worthy - get the “Reviving Corpse #2”… comes with little bit of a fire/smoke show ☺️

I love coming to this place. The drinks and food are delicious. I love getting a charcuterie board because you get the option to choose what cheeses and meats you get, which a majority of places don’t do that. It’s a very cute atmosphere and I’ve never had a bad experience here.

Meritage is one of our favorite restaurants in Glen Cove. The charcuterie boards are top notch, the new duck prosciutto is heavenly! Our server Damian was excellent and took amazing care of us. He was attentive, accommodating, and most importantly friendly. All of his suggestions were home-runs, it’s like he knew us! We’ll definitely make sure to ask for him again next time!

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner at Meritage on Labor Day weekend, ahead of our wedding down the road at The Mansion. A quick 5 minute drive. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating to our group of nearly 40 guests. They kept the back room private the whole day and set up early so that we could arrive early to decorate and confirm our satisfaction with the room setup. They regularly checked in with us during the meal to ensure all our guests were having a good time. The food was delicious and we could not have been happier with the bang for our buck value we got from our package of 3 course dinner and unlimited beer and wine. Would highly recommend for a group event or date night based on our experience!

Hands down the best restaurant in Glen Cove, hostess was the sweetest person ever she is literally a ray of sunshine, our waiter Francesco was so nice and recommended amazing options!!! Excellent Service, Excellent Food and Excellent assistance was given with planning a Surprise party for my wife's birthday. Everyone raved about the Meatballs and the Brick Chicken. All the small plates were delicious and we will definitely return for dinner. The owner was very accommodating and his staff deserves high praise for helping make the party a huge success.

Been there a few times they have an amazing selection of food to pick. Everything I've had is so good and nice portions. The service, waiters and busboys are very attentive and polite. I look forward to going back and recommending to all my friends.

My Fiance & I stopped by Meritage when driving through Long Island from New Jersey. We loved the food, especially the octopus & vegetable paella. Everything was presented beautifully, the food tasted very fresh, and the staff was extremely attentive and sweet. We will definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

Has become one of my favorite places to get a late lunch and a drink. The bartenders are amazing, great conversationalists. The food is always so perfectly made. From the taste to the presentation. If you haven't been you must go.

We were a party of 4. My wife and I arrived first and were promptly seated. They were fine with us simply waiting for our friends. Our waitress, Anna, provided ice water in the meantime. She was cordial and welcoming. When our friends arrived she gave us time to catch up without hovering. She helped with our menu selections which turned out to be excellent. My wife shared 3 delicious small plates with her friend while I and her husband had appetizers and regular entrees. Happy to say everything was tasty. We were having such a nice time, we stayed for sharing some desserts and had some coffees. They have a wide selection of wines and the usual cocktails and beer. We truly enjoyed the place and the waitress was top notch.

Meritage is always a go-to for a fun night out with friends. The wine list is great, the appetizers are consistently delicious, and there’s always a good drink special. A few favorites we never skip: the meatballs, calamari, baked clams, Brussels sprouts, and cheese platter. We recently went to one of their monthly wine dinners—this one was “America the Beautiful”—and it was honestly outstanding. The presentation was beautiful, the wine pairings were spot on, and Alex shared just the right mix of wine knowledge, winemaker stories, and history to keep it fun and interesting. And as always, Kylie, Ana, and the rest of the staff made us feel so welcome. Great food, great vibes—can’t wait to go back.

I love coming to Meritage, especially for happy hour. The menu for happy hour is amazing and the food is best quality around. The cocktails are awesome, and if you want to go old school and try a pink squirrel or a grasshopper this is the place.

What a pleasant surprise! We went in a Monday night because we heard of their bottomless mussels on Mondays. Not knowing what to expect, we were thoroughly impressed. They offered 4 different flavors of mussels, I had one of each. They were all phenomenal, but the white wine garlic was my favorite. On Mondays they also offer half price bottles of wine, which was also a tremendous value due to them having a great wine list. Andrew was our server and he was excellent. His knowledge of the menu was impressive and the service was impeccable. Mondays at Meritagé will be a regular occurrence for us. I recommend it to anyone that loves mussels and wine.

10/10. My fiancé and I stumbled upon this Glen Gem while looking for a wine shoppe post workout. All sweaty with gym attire still on, the welcoming hostess vibes made it easy to stay. Our tastings included Chardonnay, Bordeaux, Cabernet and Primitivo. We paired our tastings with the Brussel sprout salad, filet special & tzaki spread. Our waitress Caroline was extremely friendly & attentive. The food was insanely delicious!!! Outdoor seating was pleasant, a little loud for our liking but the wine and food definitely made up for it. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left 10/10

Went to this neighborhood gem for happy hour. This is definitely the best happy hour around and the hours are Monday through Friday, 4:30 to 6:30 PM. They offer draught beers for $4, house red and white wine for $5, select whites and reds and all well drinks for $7. I had the house red, a Cabernet Franc Blend and it was delicious. My husband and son ordered the Captain Lawrence Winter IPA and said it was fantastic as well. Meritage offers four small plates for $5 each at their happy hour. We ordered one of each: Arancini, Calamari, Meatballs and Bocadillo. We also ordered the trio of spreads, Hummus, Romesco and Tzatziki which came with homemade pita bread for $7. All of the portions were generous and more than enough for the three of us to share. Our bartender Paul was wonderful… attentive and professional. We sat at the spacious bar and there is also a cozy dining room and outdoor seating. They are open for lunch, dinner, and brunch. The dinner menu is creative and serves farm to table fare. I took a peek at the menu and there are many seafood as well as meat choices all reasonably priced. They also have an extensive wine menu. This place is definitely a winner and we look forward to returning soon!

Everything was excellent - the food and the wine. I was a bit surprised how much they filled the wine glass for a wine bar. You are supposed to fill very little each time so that the wine could breathe. Not 1/2 way filled. Other than that it was very enjoyable.

Antipasto plates are reasonable, but found the staff too young and inexperienced... It took over a 1/2 hr to get small charcuterie board with very few patrons in house. I had to remind them we placed an order, and there it was! The bar drinks where a little short for NYC prices. The place is cute and food is fresh. It is worth a visit.

Great for light meals and wine tasting. The staff is friendly and the food is good. They have a nice wine list and a delicious dessert. The first time I ate here the food took over an hour to come out, I considered never going back after the first experience but I gave it another chance and the wait time was normal.

Was there the Saturday before Halloween, the staff were dressed in costumes and it was great! Our waitress was Bob Ross and we laughed every time she came to the table. The calamari was just okay but, my short rib grilled cheese was absolutely amazing!!!

This is a fantastic restaurant. One of the things that makes this restaurant so good is the staff. They are attentive but not overbearing. They work with each other even though it's not their table to deal with. Is truly a team atmosphere with a staff and their attentiveness to your satisfaction I wish this restaurant was in my town

Came here for my mom's birthday, they were sweet and placed a candle on her dessert. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Enjoyable ambiance- modern update from previous space. Food was decent for it's price. The pappardelle was actually homemade- I enjoyed the ragu but the pasta could've been more al dente. Service was slower than average and it was difficult to get the staff's attention (we were seated in a corner booth in the back). Would visit again but with more time allotted.

I used to love this place and come here weekly. Unfortunately, within the last few months the service has just become awful. The last three times I have gone it has taken almost 20 minutes to get a menu, over 35 minutes to ORDER both your drink and food and to get the check is almost impossible. Beyond slow. They have changed their entire menu and no longer have the deals they used to which now makes most of their charcuterie overpriced and unreasonable. No board options. I have tried just about everything on the menu and the best thing they have is a cheese burger. Depending on the day, the charcuterie may/or may not taste fresh. Mussel Mondays is probably the deal to go for when it comes to taste and price. Cocktails are fine. You'll be better off sticking to a bottle of wine. The atmosphere is okay, usually very few people inside. Lots of seating at the bar as well as both tables inside and outside. Overall, I will not be coming back. I hope this place goes back to how it used to be.

I hate to be that person…but I can’t give my experience here over a 3/5. First of all, it took almost an hour after we were seated to receive our appetizers. Then, when the entrees came, my fettuccine was the appetizer size and not the entree. The salmon was nice but $55 for one piece with a little bit of quinoa ? Absolutely insane. I have a lot of sympathy for servers but they clearly were very new and did not know how to properly run things. I honestly would not come back here. Very disappointing considering I was excited to dine here.

I've been coming here for a while now and the quality of the food and service have drastically gone downhill. The last few times I've been there, the staff seem very confused and run around like crazy even though there aren't many people. There is also a long delay between when you order and get food and drinks. They have really good happy hour specials and a nice wine selection.

Nice ambience and good service but hit-or-miss food. My summary: - The Charcuterie board was excellent--prosciutto, chorizo and a soft French cheese, along with grapes, walnuts, and a tasty little jam. 5 stars on this. - Hummus was bland and of thin texture, and the pita wedges were devoid of taste - Grilled shrimp small plate was good, though two of the pieces seemed undercooked to me (my wife disagreed). The roasted corn on which it was served was excellent. - Fried Calamari small plate was just okay, a bit too densely breaded -- a level of food you'd expect from an appetizer at a fast casual restaurant. Won't be going back.

We wanted to love this place! Unfortunately was served very not so fresh seafood paella and after that we never went back. Wine was delicious and few other appetizers weren’t that bad. They could work on their interior design to make the place more inviting.

Oysters were not fresh (we sent them back) and seafood risotto had really funky smelling clams in. Got home and 2/3 of us were unwell. The server was lovely and attentive, so he brings up the stars, but I worry that we got out of date raw seafood.

Delicious fresh meat and seafood at reasonable prices. Great Manhattan atmosphere. We go here every two weeks and have yet to be disappointed. Great place to have a bottle and relax close to home. Other than Sam and Shelby, I have also had inconsistent service with other staff.I waited over two hours for my food on my last visit and my waiter disappeared for long periods of time without checking in. It is the inconsistency of the staff that just ruins the experience.

Went for steak night last night. We go to steakhouses all the time, definitely was not up to level it should have been. Filet was cut up into pieces which was werid for that type of steak and was not warm, juices dried up and a little tough. Steaks also seemed smaller then the sizes they said on menu. First experience in restaurant would not be back for steak night. And from what I hear from others the pop up cuisine nights are not good. I think they should stick to what they know with italian.

Had to update my original review because as others have shared, this place has started to go down hill. The service is very slow even when the place is entirely empty (which it seems to always be) and it’s clear there’s been a ton of turnover on the staff. The staff do not seem knowledgeable about the menu, struggle to properly serve wine and the menu has become more expensive while quality has gone down. The wine options have always been the same. It’s really a shame because this place has a unique offering but their training/process/consistency is seriously lacking.

I wanted to like this place but to be completely disrespected in front of my face is not ok. The waitress/manager was outright flirting with my partner in front of my face the whole night, mind you we dined with a good friend and my 3 year old son. It was uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional. BEYOND disrespectful and un-called for. The note at the end is what put me at my wits end.

So. 10:30am on a Sunday. We are the only people in the place. Coffee is cold and old. Had to find the waitress to get it fresh and hot. 40 minutes later still no food - and not a single visit by waitress or manager. The staff is hanging out at the bar area having a lovely morning I suppose. Whatever. We decided to leave. They offered to comp the food. What food? 40 minutes and eggs and French toast still somewhere in the kitchen. We left, leaving no one in the restaurant other than incompetent staff. I love restaurants. I understand how hard it is as a business. But this is bad management. Talk to the customer. Tell them the truth. Comp them mimosas. This place will earn its bankruptcy.

Sent my kids for NYE , Tasting menu . The server had no answers what they were serving , They blasted a DJ right next to the table . People leaning on the table as you are eating . Stay away

Beyond disappointing. Was there for my friends bridal shower, the French toast almost broke my tooth (I don’t know how you mess that up), then the toilets (both men and women) weren’t working and a guest (who uses a walker) and several others, had to go to the nursing home next door to use the bathroom. Decided to come back on my own with my husband because my friend, during the bridal shower, had a good meal (sausage, home fries, and fried eggs) that I had tasted and wanted to have some again. Well...it was as if a different chef had made it. I asked the hostess if indeed it was a different chef and she said no. That the week before it was a catering menu. Whatever that means. I proceed to order French toast and asked for them softer, so I didn’t break my teeth and waited 30 MINUTES!!! The place was EMPTY. Except for one other table. How hard is it to make French toast?! Nevertheless I am never going there again. I wish I could give it a half a star!

This restaurant is the worst. They mess up your order and do not communicate from the kitchen to the server that you are not getting what you ordered. They try to make it up by offering you something you don't want at a later date. The staff is inexperienced. I haven't been here in years and the problems are the same. Bad customer experience. Don't expect a alot from them.

I’m not someone to be deemed a “Karen” online and leave little to no star reviews, but as a fellow Glen Covian, Meritage Wine Bar disappoints every time. I’ve given this place not once, not twice, but several times a shot to really get me to not speak or write a bad review because I understand the industry. It also takes a lot for me to complain about anything, but it seriously blows my mind to see all these great reviews people have left when there is nothing extravagant about their dishes. Every time I’ve ordered a dish there is something wrong with it. From simple things such as their salads, to their main courses there is always a problem. I don’t mind spending my money to eat well so the fact that it is over priced, the least the owner could do is make sure his produce is fresh and note worthy. The taste of steeple things I’ve ordered more than once is always off, and quite frankly I’d rather drive farther to another town to get my money’s worth. And don’t get me wrong, the service from the waitresses are for the most part okay. My last time trying this restaurant the service was a little better. Took too long to get water refills and too many mistakes on our bill. Again, I understand that they are severely understaffed, and over worked just like every other restaurant is suffering from the same issue, but still no excuse for the top notch price you spend for mediocre food. It’s a shame as I’d love to support my local business but there is no consistency to their meals.

Ownership of this place must have changed. Service was terrible, dinner was brought out when appetizer plates were never cleared off table. Pasta was served with a soup spoon and when I asked for black pepper it was brought in a dish instead of a pepper grind. It's unfortunate because prior owner met everyone at door and checked around restaurant to insure patrons were satisfied.

I'm usually ok if the food and or service is not perfectly up to par, but I was very disappointed. I ordered the pork belly which was ok but not fresh tasting, and the short rib. I asked for a substitution of mashed potatoes for the polenta. When my plate arrived it looked to two small cubes of chuck roast, and two small baked potatoes. I sent the plate back and got my mashed potatoes. The "short ribs" were very stringy like a cheap pot roast, and not much flavor. They also give salt and pepper on request. Even tho it was NYE the place wasn't busy. The server was really nice but we still had a few mishaps. I would definitely go back for drinks only,nice atmosphere, but won't waste the money on food.
