Excellent atmosphere, great drinks, fantastic food and awesome friends.
Try the loaded Bloody Mary at brunch. You won't be disappointed!
3 Words. Jalapeño Cheddar Burger. Thanks me later. Can't wait to go back.
Very good menu, and lovely, consistently good preparation
Excellent atmosphere, staff is pleasant, the food is amazing!
Steaks were great, burgers were great
The halibut was one of the best meals I've had in years.
Quite the nice establishment. Bar and dining room are gorgeous.
My dad owns this place and it’s good food
Very good food , love their burger
Great food all around, nice ambience.
Great food. Nice atmosphere
Service was awesome. Food was excellent
Beautiful food and lovely service.
Outstanding food good service and beautiful decor
Great service, good food.
Fabulous. One of the best around. Go several times yearly including Christmas. Great atmosphere. High quality food at reasonable prices. Happy hour drinks and snacks.
Great food, great lively scene, did I mention GREAT FOOD. Drinks overpriced formsure but small plates underpriced makes up for it, my wife's favorite place!
Creative and sophisticated menu featuring well-prepared, high quality food all presented by a well-trained professional staff. Highly recommend.
Food is excellent. Highly recommended. Classic pub with exceptional food. Service was also really good.
One of my favorites, I am always pleased with the food & service.
Beautiful atmosphere and great food as well as an excellent service. I will definitely revisit.
I WAS REFERRED THERE BY A FRIEND BECAUSE I JUST MOVED BACK INTO THE AREA AFTER QUITE A FEW YEARS AND I DONT NORMALLY BRAG ABOUT A RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE BUT SIMPLY FANTASTIC. I ALSO WENT TO ANOTHER RESTAURANT IN GLEN HEAD CALLED HEIRLOOM TAVERN AND THAT WAS FANTASTIC AND SOON AFTER FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE SAME OWNER. 2 EXCELLENT PLACES FOR DINNER AND DRINKS. ROMANTIC AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE.
It was packed when we got there but we got a seat at the bar and enjoyed appetizers and drinks. Beautiful interior and wonderful service.
Fantastic from our server to the food and the atmosphere!! Great place
Atmosephere is fabulous .awesome menu food was fantastic .staff is,friendly and pleasant would definitely go back .i highly recomend this place if your in the area
Excellent food, top notch service! The place is pricey but never disappoints.
Food was delicious, staff was very friendly and the dessert......they had me at peach cobbler!!!
Excellent food everything from appetizers to main entrees and don't forget the amazing dessert loved this place
great place, great ambiance, great drinks, great food, great staff. nothing not to like here. go if you are in the area.
Can't ever go wrong here. Delish food, strong drinks & great service.
This has got to be my wife and myself's goto spot. Always grab some fresh oysters and usually go for one of their amazing specials.
Incredible food with incredible presentation. The Chef-Owner came and visited us while we tasted the food that may be catered for a wedding within the next few months. He was very professional, young, skilled, and knowledgeable. He also owns two other restaurants on the island that are equally as successful.
Our combo was buffalo chicken, skirt steak, blackened mahi mahi, lamb chops. All 10/10.
Nice atmosphere. Good service provided by Toni Ann. Very nice mixed salad. Delicious roasted cauliflower soup! My friend had the blackened mahi mahi, very good. My husband had fish and chips moist and tender. Highly recommend.
Outstanding. Their family meal for $60 is delicious and an incredible value for a group of 4. Food is delicious.
Really good food. Went during the week so didn’t need a reservation. Has good reviews and they were all right. I highly recommend the salmon. A little dark inside but that’s the correct atmosphere I guess. Highly recommend
All I can say is "On target every single time". Every time I go, I get a different dish and it is delicious. Most restaurants you have a "go to" dish. At the Brass Rail, every time is a delicious exploration. Dine at the bar, or dine at a dining room table, it's the same great experience. If you eat fish you'll love it. If you eat meat, you will love it. If you are a vegetarian , enjoy delicious salad. I have had it all.
Great date spot. Sophisticated but unpretentious dishes.Great local beer list, specialty cocktails and very attentive staff round out a wonderful location. Located in a very interesting little hamlet. Cant wait to go back!
Dependable and Consistent like Vito has stated. The one Italian guy running the show during brunch lunch is the best. Good character hard working.
The Brass Rail never disappoints. You'll always have a great meal! The ambiance is welcoming and the staff is great. They also have the best Red Sangria...THE BEST!
Always the best service and the food is great! The only thing wrong is the younger patrons who seem to drink heavily and are extremely LOUD!!! But it doesn’t deter us from coming for excellent food and choices!
Great meal - sat at one of high tops and tried a few dishes. Top notch service. Great local spot that treats you like family.
Welcoming hostess, great service and the food is fabulous!
The best food and service plus atmosphere friendly and inviting. Eat here at least once a week.
This place is a local favorite. My family and I have been eating here for years. It's an intimate location so if you want to dine in I suggest making a reservation, although they are also quite accommodating with take out.
One of my favorite restaurants to go to, can be casual or fancy depends on your mood! Food is exceptional and prices are so good, restaurant should be in the city!
Great place for drinks and food. Menu has a lot of choices and priced reasonably. Staff is great and friendly.
Always count on great service and very good food. I like to hang at the bar and eat their Steak. Very reliable. Usually a local crowd
Great place for really good cocktails. Entree selection is really good. Everything we ordered was excellent. Wait staff is attentive.
Cute and cozy place a must visit. Mine and my children’s second home ! Chef is amazing bartenders awesome Great place
Service was very good and the food was amazing. The Chef out did themselves. Started with the Blue Point Oysters, so fresh and delicious. Next, Halibut on a bed of cauliflower. spinach and potatoes, amazing. Not salty which so many chefs over season. Ended with the pear and cherry cobbler and a cappuccino. Oh what an ending, perfect, not overly sweet, just perfect. When they asked " Would you like anything else?" I said the Chef! But,they wouldn't let me take them home in a doggy bag, darn! Thank you for exceeding my expectations!
We came to Brass Rail on a Friday night and had a great time. We sat at the bar and the bartender Allie was super hospitable. We ordered oysters (super fresh!) a variety of small plates, some salads and three different deserts and everything, absolutely everything was excellent. The place is really cozy and not too loud, something that is important to me after a long work week. We will absolutely be back for home made ice cream. I can't wait to try everything on the menu.
Great menu and friendly staff! So cozy and nice with a long bar. You wouldn't know from the outside being that it's in a plaza, but it's a nice, gastropub with dim, lively atmosphere with high ceilings and mirrors everywhere. Not divey at all like I assumed. Really enjoyed my mixed green salad with pine nuts & truffle vinaigrette and LI duck. Coming back soon to try everything else!
Loved it. The food was great and prepared exactly as requested. I had the Shrimp & Oyster Po Boy. Really good.
The Brass Rail has some of the best food in Locust Valley. Whenever I feel like going to dinner at a nice local restaurant, I come here. There is great ambiance, and the food is obviously really good too. Their shoestring french fries are extremely thin and crispy, exactly how I like them. The servers are knowledgeable and they have a great wine selection too. I definitely recommend eating here!
Absolutely the best pasta in town. I just recently found this place and I’ve been going here the steak is phenomenal the wait staff and bar tenders are very attentive and the environment is very cozy anything you get here will be amazing
Pretty nice place...food wasn't bad...prices are reasonable...service was a tad slow but it was somewhat busy so it's understandable. I would visit again
The food was amazing the skirt steak had the best seer And there truffle mash was delish. Now their cheesecake for desert was also quite good.
I have posted less-than-5-star reviews of the Brass Rail in recent months, primarily because the bar and the clientele had taken a dive. The last 2 times we were here, clearly they have taken efforts to improve the bar service and drink quality. Lindsay is a fantastic Add, bringing Value-Add over the horrific mess the bar here had become. The improvement you’ve made in the bar service and quality is noticed. I thank you. It was horrific for awhile there, but tonight (and last time) was fantastic.
Five stars all the way. I hosted a luncheon at there recently and it exceeded my expectations! The food and service were exceptional.
This is the place to go for a fancy yet affordable (pricey but on par with other restaurants) meal. The atmosphere here is timeless and classy. It’s hard to go wrong here. The French onion soup here is TO DIE FOR! Complimentary dinner rolls are also served here accompanied by butter. Also check out Heirloom Tavern in Glen Head!
Food was delicious! This was my second time here and I will definitely be going back! The linguine and clams was great and would highly recommend. Creme brulee was made perfectly.
Came to visit this place as a recommendation from a friend. Must say it did live up to the expectations. Food was top notch, quality of service was up to par and atmosphere was nice. Will definitely return when back in town.
Christine was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome and taken care of. She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, offered great recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect throughout our meal. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail truly set her apart. It’s rare to come across a server who makes such a positive impact on the dining experience, and Christine absolutely did. She deserves to be recognized for her outstanding service—The Brass Rail is lucky to have her! We’ll definitely be back and hope to sit in her section again.
Consistently great food, but the reason I’m writing a review is because the Friday day shift bartender is truly amazing. I didn’t catch her name but she is worth writing a 5 star review. She’s pleasant, sweet, and provides such great service. I haven’t had such a lovely experience in at least 5 years.
Great food, wonderful service and a cozy atmosphere. That’s sums the Brass Rail up. Their French onion soup was so delicious and their chicken parm was insanely good. Others had their lamb chops and veal. Everyone enjoyed their food. This place is going to become one of my go to places for dinner. They even take reservations.
Food was wonderful, 4 of us had salmon. Ambiance was very good.
I typically enjoy my meals here however tonight's dinner was too salty.
Always a great meal. Never disappointed
Nice bar. Good local dining
Nice brunch,very quiet,inexpensive.
Cozy mid week, mid afternoon lunch. Corn soup was close to a meal in itself and delicious. Endive salad, too heavy on the endive, too short on the other ingredients.
Great Restaurant , good menu selections, fair price, nice atmosphere. Good service.
Great bartender. Diverse menu in price and selections. Food and service was great!
Charming restaurant, excellent service and terrific small plates Ecletic menu. Will definitely return.
The service has always been good, very prompt and professional. The food has very good quality and mostly well executed. They do have a nice selection of wines. One of the best places in Locust Valley.
We frequent this restaurant. Usually the service is perfect ... tonight we were first served the wrong salad and then we had to wait a very long time for our entrees. The food is always delicious here though.
Only been one time, I was impressed, had a great dish. Definitely coming back in the future. This may be the best fine dining restaurant I been to in the local area. It's not the cheapest or most expensive place ive come across in the area but I think it was worth it.
Surprised belated dinner with dear friends. Didn't realize how far it was from Queens. This is definitely a hidden gem. Will definitely go back.
Got chips & guac and a Moscow mule, both were delicious. Came back for the first time in years and will be back again!
Very pretty smoky moody type of decor which we found very cozy. The restaurant has been around a long time and the food is quite good but the salads leave a little to be desired. The bloody Mary was spicy so if you like a spicy one definitely order it. the lobster bisque was excellent
Cozy, romantic atmosphere with upscale, American food. Great appetizer and small plate selection. The chicken parmesan special is generally the best around, but the last few times it was a little disappointing. They seem to have cracked at that though and it's back on par. The hanger steak and Coq au Vin is very good. Prices are in the mid-to-high range.
I have been going here forever, great atmosphere, great food. For local, I would recommend not ordering your dinner to go from here, opt to eat at restaurant. Often mistakes made, (we’re human) but more than that a bit rude on phone service.
I had fish & chips …. The taste was good but the portions were ridiculous! 2 pcs of fish had almost the size of chicken nuggets! For $ 24 I was expecting a decent size meal. By the time I got back home I was so hungry that I needed to have something else. Disappointing. Guys ! Do you want to make money without even feeding your customers?
We've usually visited this restaurant for a number of years whenever we drive up from Brooklyn to visit this area. The food and service have always been good. This Columbus day we stopped by for lunch but were surprised to wait nearly 30 minutes before our main order came out, after we expressed our concern to our waiter. He never apologized and in fact served several other customers who came in after us, before our dishes arrived. Incidentally, one of the dishes was only lukewarm. This inattention to customers we experienced is the main reason why we only give you three stars. Hopefully this is a one-time occurrence and you will have a talk with your staff to be more attentive in future.
I only stop in for drinks, I haven’t tried the food, I always see some entrees come out and they seemed delicious which is why I didn’t include that in my rating. I’ve been here a few times, I have a couple of proseccos and then I’m on my way. I’ve been served by a few bartenders, sometimes i come during the day, sometimes mid evening. I dress very casually, sweatpants and a sweater. For some reason I always feel judged, I feel looked down upon and I notice that the staff caters more towards people who look like they will spend more money. I’m personally a resturant owner, so this was disappointing. I am willing to come back for the convenience in proximity to where I am, but I just wanted this to be noted.
Looking for a restaurant on Long Island since we are from Florida and red the glowing reviews. Went with our kids, my brother-in-law, and our daughter-in-law's mother who are all New Yorkers. We were seated in the bar area in front of the dining room. I started with Blue Point Oysters on the half shell, very good. My wife ordered the soup du jour, Mushroom soup, just fair. For mains, my wife tried the Short Rib Quesadilla which she thought was ok. Being a duck fan and in Long Island, how could you not ordered the Seared Long Island Duck Breast, roasted black grapes, Brussel sprouts & pancetta, sweet potato puree, black grape & balsamic jus. Unfortunately i was disappointed.
This is the 4th or 5th time at the Brass Rail & likely the last. Service was poor. Waiter was inattentive and slow. We asked for items that we never received and the food was only okay.
Went for a special birthday dinner tonight and were let down. After being regulars for years but not going for about a year and a half, we went back tonight for my wife’s birthday and found it totally underwhelming. Service was apathetic, food was just ok and the bill was large. Not what it used to be for sure. Won’t go back anytime soon, sad to say.
Service not great, meal not great - peach cobbler horrible. Pass on this place. Not worth the high price
The food is very good here, but the last two times my boyfriend and I went to eat here for outdoor dining, no one ever came to the table, in a more than reasonable amount of time. We walked away both times. Plenty of customers getting serviced with alcohol in the bar indoors though. Some people would actually like to eat food. Another time, I called in to make a pick up order and at the end of the call was asked if I want to leave a gratuity. That was nervy to be asked that straight up. If I wanted to leave a tip upon pick up that is up to the customer if for some reason they might want to, which I can't understand why anyone would. You're driving, sometimes from far, going to pick up your own food and spending gas. It's a pricier restaurant as it is, and the staff shouldn't be asking for a gratuity. It felt like being asked for a donation.
Extremely rude waitress insisted I ordered wrong instead of it being her mistake. I ordered Fried Calamari appetizer and she presented us with grilled calamari salad. I mentioned to her that we ordered the fried calamari, she insisted that I ordered grilled. I informed her that I do not like grilled calamari so there would be no chance of me ordering it, she still persisted that I ordered wrong. The manager finally fixed her mistake. That will be the last time I go there and I will no longer recommend this establishment.
I would say horrible service but that would be sugar coating it. Food was average and once again the staff that did not realize they work in a service industry. STAY AWAY
Went to brunch and was disappointed. There was only one server working the ENTIRE restaurant. He was server, host, bartender and bus. Have been a frequent customer but will no longer consider going. What a shame and what a waste of a restaurant.
