Opinions de Clam Bar Bayville
What a wonderful surprise. Wasn't expecting much. The place is charming and immaculate. the food is fantastic the wait staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nice restaurant, cool vibe on the water. Very simple and old school, good food and nice staff. I took the crab cake burger, it was pretty good.
The Clam Bar knocked pandemic dining out of the park. The staff is super friendly, like they understand how badly everyone just wants to be taken care of in these times. The dining area is set up very well for safety and social distancing. You should definitely go for a lobster roll date! The clams on the 1/2 shell were iconic, classic, and same-day fresh.
Love this place. Great ownership and king crab legs are worth the money. Never have a bad meal here!!
Very nice view, comfortable and chill. Food is delicious. Would love to be there again.
Friendly caring staff. Good service, fresh quality seafood, great burgers, easy parking.
FANTASTIC Food! I cannot wait to go back again! Great Service. Clean Bathroom. Loved sitting outside by the water.
We LOVE it. Perfect afternoon or sunset dining spot!
My friend live within walking distance to the marina. She told me that they updated the menu since last year. A little pricey for marina food, but it was very good.
Everything was very good. My only suggestion would be to have all the proper utensils needed to eat lobster, including wet wipes.
Paddled up on our kayaks... cold drinks, great food, beautiful view, excellent service, lovely staff. No better way to end a day on the bay!
Great steamers... fair pricing and awesome atmosphere. Easy off on boat with great launch guys... Friendly staff. Tip the cook /chef!!!
Love this place for a casual meal with great food. Highly recommend the lobster salad
Wonderful atmosphere, service excellent, Food Freshly Devine. Lobster roll is an excellent choice.
Location, location, location! Although the food is very good and reasonably priced, the waterfront setting on Millneck Creek at the foot of the Bayville Bridge, is the real “draw” here.
Great location, good food
Great waterside dining with fun staff and tasty seafood — and lots of choices.
The crab cakes are spot on. Not a lot of filler, all crab. The soft shell crab sandwich is tasty.
This place is super busy so I would call ahead. Tried to order take out but they were not taking take out orders because of how busy they were! Having said that, the wait and need to dine in is totally worth it. I've gotten the lobster roll before and keep coming back for it. It's a decent sized portion as well.
There are some places you stumble upon, and then there are places like The Clam Bar at Bridge Marine – a true culinary gem nestled in the heart of Bayville, NY. I've had my fair share of seafood across the country, but I must say their Lobster Rolls are nothing short of legendary. Each bite is a harmonious blend of fresh, succulent lobster and perfectly balanced seasonings, wrapped in a soft, buttery roll. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I was introduced to their Corn on the Cob. Simply put, it's corn elevated to an art form. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, it’s a delightful companion to the star lobster dish. But no meal here is complete without indulging in their Key Lime Pie. Creamy, tangy, and with just the right hint of sweetness, it’s the perfect finale to an unforgettable dining experience. It’s not just a pie; it’s a slice of tropical heaven. The ambiance, the service, and above all, the outstanding dishes make The Clam Bar at Bridge Marine an absolute must-visit. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Bayville, treat yourself to a dining experience that'll linger in your memories. Highly recommended!
Nothing bad about this place. Awesome view, food and service
To say anything other than SWEET MARY MOTHER OF ALL CREATION would be an understatement. Best lobster roll, best lobster, best view, best time EVER. You think it's just a shack in a parking lot but that's just to drive away the meek and weak minded. This place is the best place to spend a summer night. I can't get enough.
My review of the restaurant is positive. The food and atmosphere are worth the ride and wait. This was my first time at the Clam Bar and I went on a Saturday evening. The food portions are quite generous and the menu has much to offer, even for children. The wait staff is young, mostly 18-21 yrs old and quite friendly. As some other reviewers have stated, the service is slow. However my wife and I were not in a rush so we enjoyed our wine and mojito by the water. I would recommend this establishment and I think it's a perfect spot to bring friends to.
I work at a senior living and we brought our residents here for lunch. They were very accommodating and super friendly. Jessie was our waitress and she was so sweet to all my residents. We can’t wait to come back!
We enjoy coming here to be by the water. They've expanded their seating. Only thing I would recommend is fans for these extreme hot summer days. It was too hot to stay for long even under the shade of an umbrella.
Best lobster roll I have ever had, and my opinion counts because most people don't know how to make them. Perfectly seasoned. Other than that, the service was fine. The place is a little on the casual side for my taste. I'm sure people say something silly like, "it adds character" or something. Nonsense. Best lobster roll.
I’ve been coming here for years and always loved the atmosphere and feeling like you’re lost in tranquility with water all around. The food (unfortunately) has always been mediocre. Wow!!! What a difference a new chef makes. Lobster rolls are up there with the finest in Maine…generous portions and perfect combo of all variables. Will be coming back more frequently for sure.
Beautiful, laid back, outdoor seafood place with a gorgeous water view. Lots of shade options for seating. Try the lobster empanadas—they’re fantastic (and HUGE). Service was good, just a little slow for how busy things were, but food came out quickly and everyone was super helpful.
It is in a wonderful setting with the view of the bay. Couldn't rate food or service. His place was closed. Although one person there did help us by giving us a menu and telling us all about the place
Amazing for beachfront seafood and relaxation and summer vibes. We shared a lobster roll and a seafood platter -- not inexpensive but delicious and a perfect way to celebrate a summer weekend.
Title: Hidden Gem on the Water – Outstanding Service & Food After being very disappointed with the staff at The Crescent earlier today, my wife and I stumbled upon this beautiful clam bar on the water — and what a find it was. Kailey, our server, was nothing but kind, professional, and courteous from start to finish. The food was absolutely outstanding: I enjoyed a dozen little neck clams, perfectly crispy coconut shrimp, and an amazing lobster roll. There was plenty of parking, and the views of the drawbridge opening and closing made the experience even more special. We will definitely be back the next time we’re on this side of the coast.
No nonsense hidden true local favorite inexpensive gem, no tacky music, no fake blue-black lights, real long Island north shore salty sea breeze in your face, fresh just shucked clam and meat filled lobster, proper strong and not watered down cocktails, just amazing hidden gem locals hide when summertime quiet intimate relaxing break is summoned
I can t say enough about the staff the service is attentive and friendly...the food is delicious... the atmosphere is calming with beautiful sunsets.. We have gone many times, however for my dads birthday they really went out of their way.. just a fantastic special place.. a hidden gem
A nice find that a Bayville local told us about when we were looking for a casual place to eat. Solid grub as well as a basic wine and beer selection. No cocktails or spirits. However the views are fantastic and the staff is very friendly. Our waitress Ann Marie was very friendly and helpful. The lobster 🦞 roll was delicious as well. Not cheap, but worth checking out if you are in Bayville and want to chill on the water.
Nice atmosphere. Sat at the bar listening to the bridge on Sirius XM. Beers are a little pricey, but you are paying to be next to the water.
How can a place with a view like this be bad Answer, it can't. Food is exactly what you expect in a place like this. All of the waterside favorites are here
Laid back place. Enjoyed the clams. Nice to chill on the patio- - weather permitting
Great spot for a quick lunch after kayaking the area.
Exactly what I wanted. Delicious steamers and excellent soft shell crab. Was it overpriced? Yes. Do I regret it? No. Definitely recommended for simple preparations that let the seafood shine.
Great causal water front dining. Food is ok, stick with lobster. Canned wine but ok. Def. Reccomend. No res.
Salads were nice-sized and good. The fish and chips were delicious. Fresh seafood was a little on the pricey side. The vibe and view was on point.
The food was very good. The prices are a bit on the high side and the wait was long (about 20 minutes to be seated and 30 more minutes to get our food). The staff is friendly though and I would come back.
The service was slim to none. It seemed like they tried, hardly. Had to ask for a drink. No refill on water or drinks was offered. Had to wait for the bill. Like hella long. It was not even that busy. The one metric is getting your order and keeping your drink filled. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. Just weird. Food was fried, so kinda hard to mess that up. But the price was decent??
Great atmosphere, we love this place.. but beware there's not a lot of shady areas available so on hot days it can be tough for kids and the elderly. It's usually packed on summer weekends. The wait staff is great but when we went, the guy cooking was yelling at them and it was very off putting.. it was 100 degrees and he was shouting to pick up the pace. They were constantly on the move, so I did not appreciate knowing that he treats them like that on one of the hottest days of the year. And I heard from another patron that he does that often. We didn't have any food so I can't comment on that but everyone raves about the seafood there. Overall a GREAT place, if you can stand the sun and heat!
Fantastic service and food selection, and great drinks with amazing views. The only reason im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the lobster was a bit over cooked and could have used more Old Bay seasoning in the water. Hardly any brine flavor.... otherwise very fresh.
Our first visit. Wonderful location amid the water and the marina. Casual atmosphere. If the weather is right - as it was when we were there -it can be almost magical. Understaffed the Friday evening we were there, but the staff that were there were friendly. Slow to get seated and served. Food was uneven; baked clams were small and light on clams; fried calamari was good; fish and chips were also good; lobster roll was a disappointment (small pieces of lobster meat, too many condiments) although, to be fair, we spend time in Maine every year where lobster is king. Lobster roll would be better with larger pieces of meat and just mayo to coat. Overall, prices were reasonable. The bar serves only beer and wine, or wine-based drinks. Overall assessment? Worth a trip, or maybe even more than one if the weather is nice.
I'd honestly give this a rating of 3 stars, but it's location on the water makes this spot a fun place to stop for a drink and a snack. Keep your expectations low and you will be pleased. Today we stopped for beer and snacks that go well with beer - fried calamari and onion rings. The beer was cold and delicious. The onion rings were good, the fried calamari was a bit greasy and salty. But not terrible. Our waiter was friendly but became inattentive during our visit. I would recommend a visit. From what I've experienced (we usually stop here once or twice a year) the staff is very friendly but sometimes inattentive. The food is OK. We are always warmly greeted and have a pleasant time.
Beautiful setting, looking over creek and Mill Neck Estates. Everything is out doors. The food is good, a lot of seafood dishes as one would think. They always have steamer which are my favorite! Lobsters, clams, lobster salad & roll, only place i know that sells just lobster claws. Fish, French fries, burgersa big list of dishes and a wine and mix drink.
Great location, decent food and friendly service. I’d love this place more if the wait staff didn’t mess up something on the order every time I’m here.
Had the house salad with Italian dressing and an appetizer of fried calamari. The salad was a greens salad, not the iceberg kind. It was bigger than I thought it would be. The calamari was excellent very flavorful
Nice views, relaxing atmosphere, mediocre food, and not a place to go if you're in a hurry. Servers are friendly though.
I understand that Sunday afternoons in summer are busy, but they could have made more of an effort to have a better service. The food was tasty, but we waited over an hour from ordering till the food arrived, and we weren't even served water, nor did the server come check on us in the meantime.
Service and atmosphere are terrific. Nice views. A little pricey for a clam bar. I'd love to give the food a higher grade but it was the most salty food I may have ever eaten. I think they drained all the salt from the bay and put it in the food. Seriously, this place could be outstanding if they hired someone who knew how to cook without a mountain of salt. Did I mention that the food was salty?
It’s very nice to eat by the water there and staff was friendly and attentive, but I think I paid 26 dollars for an overcooked fish sandwich with one slice of unripe tomato, a slice of onion and a handful of fries. I could get the same sandwich at Jones Beach snack bar with the same nice view! And if you want to sub for sweet potato fries, it’s an extra 4 dollars? 13 dollars for a tiny glass of wine. I understand inflation is real but I’d give them a better rating if they adjust the pricing a little more fairly to reflect the items you are getting. Lobster, etc - I get the higher cost!
Amazing location, setup and wait staff. The menu is very solid as well. Unfortunately, the fried flounder platter was very expensive and came with one pretty small piece of flounder. For the price, it should've been at least 3 large pieces. Plus, it wasn't particularly tasty. If the food met expectations, this review would have been 5-stars. Admittedly, this was my first experience at this restaurant and a flounder platter might not be the best thing to grade it on. I hear the lobster roll is excellent.
Very nice outdoor atmosphere & the service was fast and friendly. The food however was below subpar. The lobster roll and crab cake sandwich were underwhelming. Could have used a brioche roll for the lobster roll & crab cake but instead were on a plain hamburger and hotdog bun. Was not worth the $75 we spent. Probably better options in the area
Last weekend I went to dinner at this place, they made us wait 40 minutes to be able to sit down and when they finally gave us a table, I had asked if possible, to have a low table to be more comfortable and they made me sit at a high table. I ordered a mojito and it was too unbalanced with the portions and I didn't like it. I tried the fried shrimp and they were good, soft inside and crispy outside. To continue I ordered the loster empanadas with french fries and the taste was good but the dish was a bit too heavy. The environment is nice due to the view and proximity to the ocean. My experience was not the best.
We visited on a Saturday night. They don't take reservations but we did call ahead to put our name in. The location is very scenic, overlooking the Bayville Bridge and marina. Seating is all outdoors, which was great as it was a beautiful evening. Our 2 apps (cold seafood salad) and crab cake (1 crab cake, kinda small) took almost an hour. Our server only came over to explain that there was one guy in the kitchen after about 45 minutes. We could see other guests were getting annoyed too. Our entrees came after we had been there for over an hour and a half. Prices are ok for the area, food quality was ok too, but be prepared to wait.
I have always loved going to the Bayville Marina. My husband and I have historically gone there frequently over the past few summers. Wait staff is friendly, the food takes awhile, but I am generally ok with that because I love the atmosphere. We went there last Sunday. They have expanded and have a lot more tables. The strange thing was there were several open tables and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. They don't take reservations so it is unclear why they wouldn't seat us. We sat at the bar while waiting for our seat. Prices definitely increased. I expected the lobster prices to increase, but it was still reasonable compared to other places. $14 for a small plastic cup of wine. I have to admit that kind of put me over the edge. I love having white wine with my lobster, but 2 small glasses cost almost as much as my lobster. I still love the place, but probably will not frequent as much as we had in the past.
Easy to see right off of Main Street servicing Bayville. Plenty of parking. Moderately clean facilities. Outdoor dining only. Very nice staff and Manager, but the Kitchen is very slow. No reservations. Small portions. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards. As the sunset there were many mosquitoes 🦟 and I was bitten several times. Seafood is good. The corn was very good! Nice view. I'll most likely be going back. Hopefully I can raise my rating.
Unfortunately had to send oysters back Food was ok, not what I was expecting from the place located right on the water
On the side of a working marina. Food was nothing fresh. Everything is purchased prepared and just reheated. Nothing made fresh made in house.
I got new England clam chowder didn't look thick and hardy wasn't good
First time at this spot and I will say the ambience is nice, went on a night that a live band played which was cool but the customer service was abysmal, took them forever to take my order and when I did get my food it was pretty mediocre at best. I ordered overpriced chicken tenders/mac and cheese bites which I will say was terrible. I would compare it to reheated frozen food. Definitely not worth going back so avoid this place.
Nice looking waterside bar and grill. Ordered oysters and they looked like whoever shucked them it was their first time. Oysters were shredded shells were cracked some oysters looked dirty. Sent them all back with trying one. Seafood bisque tasted like it came from a can, Caesar salad was basic as can be and might have come out a bag mix. Surf n turf burger was good, lobster salad on the burger was ok but the burger and fries were good. Wild winds while we were there also made it difficult to enjoy dining with things flying off the table. Definitely a place you go for fried shrimps, burgers and fries only.
Food was subpar and the wait staff was worse. The location at the marina was the only reason for being there. I've had better seafood at Arthur Treacher's and for a lot less money. FYI... After we ordered, it was overheard from the next table that the just sent back BAD Seafood without ordering anything else. Not recommended! Never going back!
Sadly I was looking forward to eating here and was disappointed in the food. Worst Manhattan clam chowder I have ever had! Besides tasting terrible there was a film of oil that covered the top of the soup. The reasturant has a relaxing and casual outdoor atmosphere which i liked but wish the food was better.
I ordered a chicken platter got a thin and when i say thin paper thin peice of chicken for 17 dollars i cant even make a McDonald's chicken sandwich with the chicken i got an my friend ordered a lobster roll and they lighty covered the thick bed of lettuce with lobster meat to give the illusion of a packed out roll .....very disappointed
Delayed service and the hostess seats people ahead of others in the line. Definitely not worth the wait.
Let me start off by saying that i waited 2 days since visiting this place before posting this because i had such a bad experience that i did not want my anger to taint the review. That said, if youre the type of person that enjoys setting up lawn furniture in your mechanic's parking lot and eating while watching your vehicle being serviced then this is the place for you. The seating is in the middle of the parking lot for a working marina and most people probably have better quality lawn furniture in their backyards. It is obvious that this place is a marina first and the food is an afterthought. The place is understaffed and the waitresses seem over worked. They were actually the best employees though and i felt bad that they had to work under the conditions i experienced. It took a while to get the food and when i got my fried shrimp (only 6 medium sized shrimp with a few fries) there was no cocktail sauce. I tried to get a waitress's attention but to no avail as they were busy at other tables. No big deal, i figured i would just go to the counter where the cook is and take out is ordered from and get some myself. I politely asked the cook for some sauce and was met with a hard "NO". I paused for a second and gave the cook a confused look to which he angrily replied "Ask your waitress, they make all the money around here". Stunned that this man apparently thought that asking for something he provides to every person who orders at the counter was an affront to his honor i replied "seriously?". It was at this point he condescendingly repeated me, "seriously!" while projecting the body language like he wanted to get physical about it. I turned to an employee who was standing next to me doing nothing and he shrugged as if to say "i dont know what to tell you". Since i was with company and didnt want to escallate things any further i went back to my seat where i stood for over 5 minuites until i could get a waitress to come over. I asked the girl to please get a manager or owner to talk to because of what happened. She said no problem and went over to the guy who was standing next to me watching his staff disrespect customers. Apperently this person is in charge In charge of what i dont know because he ignored my request to come talk about this as apparently he already saw what happened and had no problem with it. I just would up leaving without eating with my company. We couldnt believe a business was run this way. And to the cook.....If you are so unhappy at work that you need to disrespect customers then maybe you should go find another job. This is America and noone is forcing you to work at a particular job and be a miserable. And to the "guy in charge" you clearly have no clue how to run a restaurant and should probably just stick to watching people fix boats.
We waited an hour and a half after ordering and did t receive our order. The manager wasn’t very concerned and said they’re doing the best they could. We left paying for 2 drinks and one appetizer…. 4 hungry people
Worth experience ever Came happy, left hungry Seating on the back burner for almost an hour While other tables who were seated after us Already digested their food…. I probably did not to have pay for the beer.
Terrible, they made us stay under a hot sun with no shade and although there were other places with shade on the deck they said they couldn't let us because we had a dog. So after almost collapsing of sun stroke we told them they had to move us or we have to leave, so they made us leave.
I mean the food was decent and its a beautiful view, butttt....they charge $15 for a regular margarita (more for flavored) and after noticing they dont even have any liquor whatsoever, i saw they only use a pre-made mix for everything, i decided to look up the price per bottle and it was $15 bucks with 15% alcohol....talk about getting ripped off...what a shame 😔😴
Wait & host staff were great! Bar tender was rude, and not too well informed. I asked for a glass of tonic water, and was told they didn’t have any alcohol there at the bar. I didn’t ask for alcohol, I asked for a glass of tonic! No alcohol? At the bar? A bit confusing. Food was average, mostly fried. I had the crab cakes, described as “lightly breaded and fried”. They were in fact heavily encrusted, and deep-fried. Although they were tasty, they didn’t agree with my stomach. A 5oz cup of wine was the same price as a margarita or a Mojito, $14, which I thought was a little over the top! Waited for one hour before we got a table after being told it was a 25 minute wait. When we were ready to leave, we could not get under the bridge, as we had to wait for the drawbridge to open. The drawbridge website indicated the drawbridge opened upon request, but that is not true. We had to wait half an hour, after being told the bridge only opens at the top of the hour. It would have been nice to know that before hand, as we were traveling far to get home. Will not be returning.
I'm disappointed in my outing at the Clam Bar at Bridge marina. I understand today is their opening and there will be bumps along the way, but I ordered one meal. It was a grilled salmon, it was not a bustling day, but it took 50 minutes to arrive at my table. I'm sure it was forgotten to be ordered and when realized was put in on the rail. It arrived raw, and jiggled. I sent it back and 15 minutes later it was placed in front of me with no apologies. No one came back to ask if it was OK. People who sat around me received their apps and hand helds before me. Totally unprofessional and unsupervised staff. Obviously unhappy with my experience. Where was the manager??
Wanted to do a “to go” order but was told “it was too busy” and we could not get lobster rolls to go. I let them understand that we drove 30 mins to be there and wanted to bring them elsewhere for 2 other people as well. This place is an informal outdoor seating “restaurant” more like a shack and absolutely ridiculous that they were unwilling to put in a to go order and make $80 in seconds 🙄 won’t be going back.
Stay far away if you want any food or service. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for three appetizers which nothing came and others that sat after us got their food. We brought it up to the waitress who said she would be right on it trying to figure it out. After 20 minutes of the waitress not coming back or answering, we got up to a manager who apologized for the inconvenienceand stated they would comp us with free drinks for our trouble after losing our ticket for food by accident. We waited patiently for some of the food but wasnt served further. After our meal was over, they comped us for none of the drinks and made us pay full. If you want any reception or service, it's better going anywhere else.
The setting was beautiful! The food, the prices (most were twice than appeared on their website) the long wait to be seated, the dirty tables....not good at all.
Sucks. Whole place. Lady at the front was so mean. Everyone here had attitude. Forgot my food. Place sucks
Horrible Service, buggy on a Saturday evening. The ambiance is nice and I had such high hopes as we live around the corner and would love to have a local seafood restaurant we could walk to. We waited 2 hours for our dinner while others who came after us got served. No one checked on us or apologized, it was like we were invisible. Maybe if it was cheaper it would be easier to forgive but the place is expensive. We took the food to go since we were so cold and bug bitten. The food was good. I suggest someone oversee these kid servers. Also, if you’re coming in the evening wear bug spray and eat a snack before you come. I sure wish they offered me something, anything, an apology, a free drink so I wouldn’t have to be writing this review right now…
I was very disappointed with the food. I wasn’t expecting much but I ordered the steamed muscles. I mean how wrong can you go with that? Well the muscles were full of grease. I do not know if it was butter or oil. I am not sure but it tasted terrible ( like old oil) and why do you need to put that much oil? The crab-cake my daughter ordered was semi OK but not even the fries or the cole slaw were good. I haven’t tasted food this bad for a long long time 😞 The service was OK and it is nice because you can sit by the water but they need to do something about the food.
I grew up in this town and used to come here all the time. I now live in the city and drove an hour to get here with my wife and 3 kids- as I arrived the said they are closed even though their voicemail says they close at 9pm. The team and blond headed kid who was manager couldn’t accommodate us and rudely shut us down. This was extremely disappointing and inappropriate considering I explained my situation. He said the kitchen was closed when I saw that they were cooking and there were guests that just sat down and just got their drinks. DO BETTER and fix your voicemail that says the incorrect time. I spent so much of my childhood at this bar and played football across the steeet such a sad experience for my family now have to drive hour hone
