Opinions de Santa Barbara Fish Market Goleta
Wow what a pleasure getting to eat here! One of the better meals I’ve had in quite a while. Girlfriend got the local rock fish and chips, I got the crispy sole sandwich and caesar wedge. Everything was cooked to perfection. Ordered the fries “dirty” which came tossed in a parsley, garlic, parmesan combination I can only describe as heavenly. The pickled red peppers were a treat to bite into. Definitely trying the rest of the menu in the future. Staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is great. Goleta got a new gem! Awesome experience and I look forward to returning 10/10!
Excellent fish and chips and calamari at a killer price. The fresh fish selection also looks amazing and their accouterment section has a ton of unique options with a good amount made in house. Highly recommend this spot for quality, decently priced seafood which is not the norm in SB. Helpful for families who love fresh seafood but don’t want to go pay a higher price at a fancier spot
Great food! Loved the oysters on the half shell, Salmon Fried Rice, and Fried Calamari. Will come back again.
Fresh, tasty food at a proportionally reasonable price. Great staff that care and food to match. Fresh catches — DELICIOUS
My son had the sofshell crab burgers. On point. I had Baja burrito, loved it. Thank you will be returning
Had the kids fish and chips, large portion for the price, great value. Also had the sea bass, tasty with a pineapple sauce. Sole sandwich was also really good.
Uni trays in Goleta? Say no more! I’ve been a huge fan of the downtown location so I was stoked to visit their newer, more northern branch, and it’s awesome. Large space for hanging out and eating, same quality seafood as you’d find downtown, and imo the best poke and uni in town. Plus you don’t have to deal with the harbor’s parking!
DELISH. Arguably the best food in Goleta. We elevated the oysters with ikura and ponzu- orgasmic bite, highly recommend. Had to order a second round. Fish and chips were bomb. We work at a local seafood restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the pricing. Super fair for really high quality product! Awesome friendly staff. Can’t wait to come back for happy hour and taco Tuesday!
The SB Rockfish and chips was not only delicious, and crisp but very generous!! I highly recommend the shrimp tacos. They are loaded with flavor with fat juicy shrimp.
Our new favorite in Goleta! Excellent food. I am surprised my husband did not discover this before he retired from nearby; we met a former co-worker there with his regular weekly fish and chips order! The only tiny thing I would suggest is it’s a tight squeeze to get to the trash/dish return which is behind another table.
5 adults had a great sea food dinner for less than $100. We all loved our food. Will return. They have some happy hour rates on food until 5pm.
True Cali lifestyle right here. Their prices might seem a little steep, but the food is amazing and the vibe is just right on. If you’ve been surfing those awesome waves off Santa Barbara and need a feed, definitely come swing by these guys for some great food and awesome chilled out beach lifestyle vibes.
At the Santa Barbara Fish Market in Goleta, I had uni so fresh and pure it could only be described as “honey uni.” From the very first bite, it melted on the tongue with a natural sweetness that lingered like nectar. Unlike some uni that carries a strong ocean taste, this one was clean, buttery, and almost dessert-like in its finish. The freshness spoke for itself — as if it had just been lifted straight from the ocean. Paired with the coastal atmosphere of Goleta, the experience felt both luxurious and authentic. For seafood lovers and adventurous travelers alike, this is a stop you absolutely cannot miss.
Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. Highly recommend this place! They have a kids menu and a happy hour as well.
The Santa Barbara Fish Market, as the name suggests, has a wide variety of fresh-caught fish pulled straight from local waters. But beyond the market selections, they serve up delicious prepared food. One of the standouts is their fish and chips - perfectly fried, generous portions that hit the spot. There's plenty more on the menu I'm eager to try, like their clam chowder and steamed mussels. With some prime surf and paddle boarding spots nearby, this is the perfect post-session hang, with cold drinks and fresh seafood keeping the vibe right. Definitely coming back to work my way through the rest of the menu.
This is a great little market and restaurant. The shrimp tacos are very good, I had the tuna melt and it was fantastic with just a hint of jalapeno. The fish and chip order is huge. Inside you also find fresh fish and shellfish. They also have a freezer section with frozen seafood to take home. I really liked that they had a nice selection of caviar. It's a great new addition to this shopping mall!
The food here is amazing! Staff is awesome too. Food came out hot and quick. Raw bar was great too.
Great, fresh seafood! The oysters are amazing. The dirty fries are delicious. The sole sandwich, poke, fish & chip, clam chowder 🤌🏼 That smoked fish 👌🏽👌🏽! Chef Paul knows his stuff!! Excellent new vibes for the University plaza! Cheers ~
The staff are patient, friendly, and helpful. You can order to dine in or take out. They were fairly quick to prepare the food for us. They have nice outdoor seating. We got the lobster bisque and the crispy sole sandwich. Their sandwiches are very big! Everything tasted great. They use high quality bread.
What a great stop, so good I went twice while I was in town for 2 days. I have been on a bender for chowder, and this was one of my favorites I have had the week we spent in CA. I tried crab claws for the first time, they were good but a lot of effort to get inside. Mahi-mahi grilled sandwich was super good, the pineapple and Japanese bbq went well together - the sandwich was challenging to keep together snd it was messy. But sooooo good. Some outdoor seating available with a few spots inside at a high top counter and a couple tables. I didn’t buy any fresh fish but there was a line both times I was there - it looked amazing.

Amazing variety. Great suggestions from Manager and front-end worker. Really enjoyed the smoked cod.

Amazing food and service! This is our go to market and eatery for all things seafood
Another great find in the greater Santa Barbara area. We had lunch here & really enjoyed the food & laid back environment. Clam chowder was very good, Salmon Fired rice was a nice find on the menu. Lobster roll was a smaller portion but was also good.
Amazing tasty spot in Goleta that is an outpost of the market in SB. Plenty of seating for groups (we had a hockey team after a game) and the food was delicious. Lots of variety on the menu from fish tacos, fig and chips, poke bowl or smash burger. We had mussels, shrimp tacos, clam Chowder and the dirty fries. Everything incredible. So much we may be back tomorrow!
My 100% favorite place to eat in Goleta! I could come here every day - the vibes are fantastic, staff is super super friendly, and the food is super good. They always have on great music, too. The poké bowls are my favorite; also love the clam chowder. Don’t miss on their frozen prepared food btw - you can buy their soup bases or other frozen sea food at a good price in the back corner. They also carry a lot of unique/hard to find-in-SB Asian/global drinks, condiments, etc. !!
I was looking for a different restaurant when I saw the Santa Barbara Fish Market sign. Even though they're located in a strip mall, don't let that fool you. They have fresh fish for sale in addition to a wide variety of seafood for dine in or take out. Make sure you look at the fresh fish specials available that day. I selected the wild salmon and had two options, I picked the New England clam chowder and the Caesar salad. My order was to go though the presentation was good. The Caesar salad was one of the best that I've had in a long time. The New England clam chowder is excellent - thick chunky, and very yummy. I am not a local, so when I am in town, I will definitely eat at Santa Barbara Fish Market again! "Yummy in my yummy! 🍽🤩
Excellent local seafood. Tried fresh uni for the first time! Person that took the order helped recommend the perfect oysters. Soft shell crab sandwich, dirty fries and Caesar salad were all good. Also loved the pickles in the cooler. 10/10

When I first noticed that SB Fish Market not only an outpost, but also a restaurant in Goleta, I was stoked! Now I no longer have to drive to the marina, look for parking and wait in a line of tourists for the same delicious, fresh seafood. The inside of the store had a plethora of products: canned items (fancy caviar, pickles, olives, etc), condiments and sauces (including many Asian-specific items), cold beverages, freshly prepared to-go items (seaweed salad, uni, slaws, sashimi and more). If you're in a hurry while on a lunch break, grab a drink, bag of chips and a prepackaged meal, and you're on your way! There is also a glass display stuffed with local and non-local seafood selections. Fish fillets, Channel Island Uni, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, clams, squid and everything in between! I encourage you to buy any and all things that are marked as local. Support our local, hardworking seafarers! Now on to the restaurant: I wish I could give 5 stars but they're new and have some hiccups to work out. There are two lines (though it is not clear): one for the restaurant and another for the fish counter. Unfortunately the space is small so they end up running into one another. Staff was very friendly, patient and willing to answer questions. The outdoor patio has many tables yet limited space. Everyone is squeezed together like canned sardines. The staff who delivers the food can barely fit in between the tables and chairs. As for our food: It could have been better... And I suppose I should have ordered the Fish n Chips that looked spectacular. My partner ordered the Tuna "Melt" which didn't have cheese--a bit odd to be considered a melt. We also thought it would have been better with a slice of tomato. The tuna definitely was fresh and not from a can, so that was pleasant surprise. I had the Oregon Bay Shrimp Rolls which were decent but very plain in flavor. Luckily there was a bottle of mayonnaise so I made the shrimp into a little "shrimp salad" and then it was much better. Perhaps they should season the shrimp better. The brioche bread was nicely grilled, however, the Caesar Salad "wedge" was underwhelming. All in all, Uni'd to check this place out! I hope to give the restaurant another try after some time.
The sole sandwich should be removed from the menu, all else seems good but their frying oil always seems old, you can taste it and takes away from the taste of fish.
Good food. Good price. Friendly service. Good size portions. Strongly recommend this place.
Santa Barbara Fish Market in Goleta is a great local seafood restaurant. It serves delicious meals with generous portions and is definitely worth a visit. My family and I ate there twice during our stay in Santa Barbara. On our second visit, a staff member named Vincent was very kind and gave us a sample of crab claws while we were waiting for our food.
Tucked away in a strip mall, small, counter service but definitely worth a try. ☛Decent Happy Hour, house wines are especially good. ☛Plenty of outdoor seating (dog friendly). ☛Fresh live sea urchin (clever presentation). ☛Fresh market selections. ☛Plenty of parking. ☛Friendly staff.

Great food, wish they have cleaner table & cup though.
Update December 2023. 1. Walking to the restaurant from the parking lot, I could smell fish, and not in a good way. 2. Again I got the Ahi Poke Bowl. It changed! No spice & not much flavor. Apparently they got complaints on the level of spice and eliminated a great meal, and replaced it with a weak version. Will not get this again. 3. My wife had a cioppino that was flat. Not much taste. I'll try this place again in a few months, but I think I'm done here. Stopped in for lunch at noon Monday 10-16-23. Fairly crowded, but the line moved quickly. Seating was almost full. We had the Ahi Poke bowl (spicy but good) & grilled fish tacos. Everything was great. You could hear others expressing the same opinion.
Two fish tacos with almost non-existent fish. Not only is the price too high, but the contents are too low. Fries tasted like they were sitting awhile before I got them. Won't return...
This was my 1st time there. We order fish tacos. There was hardly any fish in them. I am not exaggerating! Seriously, they were overloaded with shredded lettuce, carrots, and pickled onions. And..... they were not that good! Very disappointing! I won't go here again. Overpriced!
