Frankie is so cultured its a very classy Establishment
I was just thinking about this place. I miss your subs already.
By far BEST sandwich place in Isla Vista!!!!!!!!
Best sandwiches in IV
Amazing in all ways.
Best place in IV for a sandwich!
Great sandwiches and beer selection
Great value and service.
Best subs anywhere.
Dutch Crunch. Need I say more?
Good pastrami sandwich...
Great meatball sub. Add a little ketchup!
Best subs in IV. Friendly service and fantastic food. This is that great "hole in the wall" place your best friend recommends to you before making that trip!
Always great service. Everything is fresh. They also do quick catering trays if needed. Love Frankie!!
A wide variety of sandwiches, great place to sit and eat or grab a sandwich to go. One of my favorite places to eat in Isla Vista
I tried tuna sandwich, which is very tasty. The Latino papa is very cute. I will visit it again.
Hands down best sandwiches in IV. No need for anywhere else. Get the Dutch Crunch bread every time
Great food and they have beer right in the heart of IV
Great spot for ordering pitchers and relaxing outside, foods good too
Great place for a quick bite in IV! Great sandwiches!
Frankie is the man. This is a surprisingly underrated, super cool place to eat.
The owner is such a sweetheart! Great food too!
Favorite sandwich place in IV and one of my favorites in the SB area. Go early in the day to see the owner Mehrdad and Frankie for the best sandwiches. I order the turkey avocado cheese with provolone on wheat and add salami, with all the fixings (except mayo). A sandwich and pint of beer on the patio, on a sunny weekend— nothing better.

Sam’s to go is such a staple of IV!! I graduated years ago and was delighted to see it still standing when i got back! The gaucho and cheese sandwich was my favorite! Fries made fresh!!
This is a world class college town sandwich shop. Yummy sandwiches. Cozy outdoor and indoor seating. Good beers in fun glasses. One-of-a-kind cookies. We visit a lot of college towns, and this is our favorite place in IV. We detour trips to eat here.
Exceptional service by the owner and his son. They seem to hire people with great customer service, cookies, beer, and delicious sandwiches. Never forgets the pepperocinis/friggitello.
One of the best and affordable places to eat in Santa Barbara and IV. Sam's offers great and delicious sandwiches for a reasonable price compared to other restaurants in IV. They have very fluffy bread and fresh ingredients with friendly and welcoming staff, would highly recommend! Will definitely be coming here again soon
After 30 years, I brought my son up to IV and he wanted to try Sam's. Still the best, still my favorite and now my son can carry on the tradition!
I've been a customer since I was a kid and talk about consistency and quality. This little shop puts out great sandwiches at a reasonable price. Will always stop by when I'm in town!
Fantastic local sandwich shop with great beer on tap. The owner is a fantastic cook and always pleasant to interact with. The sandwiches are killer and they will cook your fries to your specified crunchyness. You really cant go wrong with Sam's. I've been going back for 8 years now.
The owner if this Sam's to Go location gave us the best experience when we ordered sandwiches for an event we had. The sandwiches were awesome and he went the extra mile to bring us ease and comfort with our order! Definitely gets 5 stars from us!
I have always enjoyed the food, beers, and atmosphere here since my college days. I always order the same sandwich, which is the the turkey, avocado, and cheese - which comes out perfect every time. This is the only Sam's To Go that has french fries and they are must when eating here. I enjoy coming to eat here with my bros when we're back in town for an event and drink some beer pitchers.
The BEST sandwich I've ever had. I haven't been back since I moved away + recently had to cut out gluten (I wonder if they have gluten free options?) but seriously, this place is addictive!! It was my favorite place to eat AND it was affordable. I became such a regular (and I also tipped really well) that one time I went in and counted some change (can you say broke college student? lol) on the counter + I realized I didn't have enough for the medium sandwich. My roommates kept eating my food (lived with 10 people-I repeat broke AND wild college student lol) so I didn't have anything to eat until my parents transferred money the next day. I was hungry + feeling kind of sad. When I realized I didn't have enough, I started to leave (mind you-I used to go here 3-4 times per week). The owner (I think he's the owner??) had saw me count my change out + I think he realized I was about to cry + he called after me "How much do you have??". I was kind of embarrassed. I remember being about $2.50 short (and that's not including the usual $2-3 tip I would give each time because well you should tip them they're cheap and really nice! + real estate in IV is insanely expensive. They have needs to). I kind of mumbled "definitely not enough" + he was like lemme see + I showed him. He was like, it's fine. I'll cover you. The next time I went in, I tipped him $8. It's been 3 years since that interaction and I still remember that to this day as one of the best random acts of kindness anybody has ever done for me. The cutest part of this whole transaction? He was already done making my sandwich when he told me he'd cover me. What a great guy + a great place. Next time time I'm in town, I'm gonna go in and see if they have any gluten free options. Check it out! Your taste buds will thank you :)
Food was tastie and fresh, small sub was huge, they do have some indoor seating plus a big outdoor area with tables, friendly service. Good selection of on tap beers. A Win!
Best fries in santa barbara hands down. Friendliest staff and super accommodating for vegans (always through some extra avocado on my sandwiches). Also the Ace cider on tap is my absolute go to in IV.
Being from the north-east, I know my way around a deli, and let me tell you this place is great. Boss hooked me up good with the bacon, egg, and cheese good enough to rival the ones back home. This is the spot.

This Sam's in Isla Vista was just "okay" for me. I went there later than the one closer to me (by Target) was open that night. This one doesn't have potato or macaroni salad or the more extensive assortment of drinks my usual one does.
An IV classic. The sandwiches are good here. A bit pricey for what you’re getting IMO. I recommend you try for yourself.
Accommodation and friendly, they make a delicious sandwich, and can make any sandwich in to a lettuce wrap to accommodate keto/low carb diners.
Typical place for students...a bit dingy and grimey... Watch where you sit -- you'll have to clean it first.😉 Food however is great.
Great sandwich (avocado, turkey, cheese), but a bit pricey, especially for a college town.
Pretty average sandwiches, I like subway more.
Exactly how, as on menu, 'Brooks & Cheese' need me to pay extra for the cheese on it, I wouldn't know. (Btw this seems dependent on the person serving the food, for someone else the other day this includes the price of cheese)
Their prices are absolutely insane, but at least the sandwiches are good.
Sandwich was good, but asked for extra pickles and request was not made.
Fries are really good, sandwiches pretty mediocre.
I am usually happy with my sandwiches from sams to go and I have great admiration for the owner, I really do. But my last sandwich let me down. Today, I asked for mayo with my sandwich, and waited while employee constructed my sandwich. She seemed on task until an older gentleman walked who appeared to be a “regular.” The employee stopped making my sandwich and immediately stopped my service to take care of him, giving him his usual sandwich and some beer. After helping the gentleman after me, the employee continued making my sandwich only to add mustard instead of mayonnaise. I hate mustard. I might say I despise it. Sadly, I did not realize this travesty until I when home and unwrapped my sandwich. I was devastated, adding my own supply of mayo from the fridge to mask the disgusting taste that is mustard. After a painful first half of the sandwich I could not take any more. I discarded any part of the sandwich that touched mustard and sadly finished my open faced sandwich.

If the service was any good, the expensive sandwich would be worth it! But, the mediocre sandwich or the soup weren't worth dealing with their rude service.

Expensive for a sandwich no different than one you can make at home.
Wasn’t as good as there other location and a little pricey for the big sandwiches. They barely put any meat or anything in the sandwich so it was like eating a big French bread. Dry and no flavor
Shady business practices led to an unpleasant experience. The food was decent, though I could tell the ingredients used were old. My main issue was with dishonest pricing and behavior. None of the prices on the menu are correct apparently. There is a piece of paper on the register saying the prices are different because of "inflation". Pretty sure that is not even legal to charge differently than what is advertised. Also the person making it kept saying he was going to add things without asking me if i actually wanted it. He would say "is cheddar good for the cheese" and "I will add this bread its a great bread" without mentioning that there was an upcharge for both. The listed price for sandwich was 10.99. that's all I wanted was the sandwich and that's all I said I wanted. Got to the register and the total was 15 dollars. I would be less upset if they were forthcoming with the prices. Won't be going back for that reason
I use to be a fan of Sam's To Go but had never been to the IV location. I ordered #14 (turkey, bacon, avocado and cheese) on a French roll. It's supposed to come with mayo, mistard, pickle and pepperoncini. I asked for no pickle but I also did not get avo or pepperoncini. The bread was really dry as well. In total with a yerba matte and chips came to over $20. Very disappointed... I will not be going back to the IV location.
Sams togo used to be one of my favorite sandwich places in IV, after yesterday's sandwich that is noo longer the case. I was appalled at the store bought cheap meats and flavorless veggies, only the bread was o.k. The bacon was scarce and sad really it was nott taste what so ever

A younger sandwich maker was very very rude
Overpriced, rude clerk
The owner is really rude
Ingredients wasnt the freshest. Was charged for sourdough but got white bread instead. Also quite expensive for a sandwich. 10 dollars for a 6 inch.
Got a 6" cali club and a lizards head ipa. 17 dollars total. I was the only one in the store at the time. Thought it was strange they didn't call my name or bring my food out to me. They just left it on the counter and waited for me to walk back in. The bread was tasty but the vegetables tasted bad. The chicken was overcooked. The avocado tasted like nothing. Way 5ok much sauce. Overall a really bad sandwich. Owner was friendly though so I hope you read this and can get your restaurant back on track.
Dude really charge me 20 dollars for a mid sandwich and said it was a discount. Also used harsh language.
I ordered a ranch for an EXTRA $1. And I confirmed with the cashier that there was an extra ranch and he said that everything was in the bag. Lo and behold, there was NO RANCH. Also, my friends ordered the Dutch crunch bread which is a $1 extra, and they did not inform them that the bread is a $1 extra. DOLLARS ADD UP
