Best pasties and best meal deal in town by far! Had a sausage pasty which was perfect and then a broccoli cheese pasty which was still amazing a couple days later. $6 a piece, can’t beat the price. Can’t wait to try the others!

Best pasties in town! These pasties are seriously delicious. You can get them warm, but I usually order several cold to eat later. I personally love the vegetable and broccoli & cheese, and eat them with malt vinegar. Thank you Marshall's! We love you!

This is a must stop place when you are visiting grass valley. There's nothing better than a traditional English pastie for a lunch snack. I always try to buy at least a half a dozen to take them and freeze, they reheat quickly and beautifully. Marshalls is an institution, I'm happy to see the Next Generation carrying the torch. The sausage is my favorite, followed by the chicken and beef

Such a cozy spot downtown. The pasties were incredibly yummy. Loved the service, the people that work there are so kind. It's a small shop, so food might take a little longer, but it's worth it!! It is CASH ONLY, so just be prepared. I don't understand people being petty enough to leave low reviews because they are cash only, the food is great! Really reminds me of my grandmother's great cornish meals!!

The pasties are delicious and comforting, and the price is very affordable. There are a variety of tasty fillings to choose from; I would eat here for every meal if I could. The employees are friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. This place definitely deserves its high rating.

Best savory pasties outside of the UK. We ordered the beef and sausage. Sausage was perfectly spiced and the beef was beyond delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Only disappointment is that they don’t ship! 😢

We've been eating Marshall's Pasties for over 40 years, here in Grass Valley CA. The crust is so yummy it melts in your mouth. Try the apple pasties. Simply divine with a touch of cinnamon. Prices are very reasonable.

For a truly Cornish pastie experience, check them out! My go to is the beef or chicken. It's ground meat, potato slices, onion and seasonings. Some like it with malt vinegar and ketchup, I prefer just ketchup. They make them from scratch and the dough! So good! They are cash or check only so be prepared for that

I used to get local cornish pasties when I lived in northern Michigan (one of the origin places of the pasty) these are the closest to legitimate pasties I have found. It's amazing. You can get frozen or heated, buy in bulk or just one for a meal. They are very nice people. Don't go anywhere else!!!

I first had a pastie back in the 70's. Loved it. Don't remember if it was from Marshall's but just finally came through Grass Valley on a day when they were open and I wasn't disappointed. Just as I remembered them. Next time I'm going to order a couple of extras to take home and reheat..

An absolute grass valley classic. Been going there for probably 15 years, a family favorite for us. Great comfort food, cozy/traditional vibes. A must try for those who live in grass valley, one of my favorite low key spots to go when I visit.

We planned our whole trip around this tiny pasty shop. We had never had one before and this was the place everyone said to go. And boy oh boy are our lives changed! You are greeted by these wonderfully charming ladies who are so excited to see you. We ordered the beef pasty and the sausage pasty. Each one is this huge pastry filled with hot meat and onions. It’s like a warm hug from the inside. We only wish we could have been eating these with the cold chill of winter instead of the heat of peak summer. If you are traveling there bring a cooler! You will want to take some frozen ones home so you don’t go through pasty withdrawals!

Veggie pasties from Marshall's Pasties are my favorite nostalgic food to get whenever I'm back in Grass Valley! Having lived above Marshall's Pasties (2005 through 2008ish) you would think I would have gotten to the point where I had eaten enough veggie pasties to last a lifetime, but I'm nowhere close to being sick of them. Whenever I'm in the area, I make sure to get a bunch to keep in the freezer, but they always go fast! They are very flavorful -- flakey crust that is the perfect level of softness, and filling that is to die for. Don't leave off the malt vinegar! Plus pasties are like soup you can hold!

The crust is flaky, buttery deliciousness and complements the fillings perfectly. Do yourself a favor and save room for an apple dessert pasties. Prices are very reasonable. Clearly made with mastery and high quality ingredients that deliver the perfect taste and texture every time. Get a few cold ones to go because they stay fresh for days in the fridge. They make the perfect lunch or dinner for working people just as they have for centuries.

From frozen: Increase microwave time to 2 min. (At 50% power)

Good pasties, but you gotta have them heat it up in the oven until they get all nice and hot and crispy. Then you will have a proper hot handheld meal encased in the baked dough, containing the gravy and meat and veg, all for the taking. You are the king of your lunch. Do not accept the microwaved crust.

CASH ONLY. Small shop off one of the side streets in downtown Grass Valley. Came here because I thought I'd try something different and because of all the reviews. Pasties are pastry-covered, little "pies" that are normally savory, but they offer an apple one here. Known as the national dish of Cornwall in the UK, they were popular in this neck of the woods as miners from Cornwall came out here to try out their gold finding luck. Pronounced "pa-stee" as opposed to "pay-stee" -- those little things that strippers are found of. (But to be fair, a stripper could be partial to both.) You can order pasties in a smaller size or regular. I recommend the regular, if you're kind of hungry. If you are really hungry, you might need two! The price for a regular size averaged about $4.95 or so. They had choices of beef, chicken, vegetable, broccoli and cheese, apple, and I know I must have missed a couple of other ones. My daughter, being vegetarian, ordered the vegetable one and she could taste a distinct fridge flavor, so she wasn't too thrilled about that. I had the beef - the meat portion seemed more like broken up beef sausage, not mincemeat or steak cubes. I ordered an apple one to try at home. They packed it with some icing that was delicious! Although the pasty itself had fridge flavor to it. I was advised to heat up in the microwave, but I stuck it in the oven as I wanted my pastry on the flakier side. The seating area is tiny! So you may not be able to score a place to sit down. I noticed that they probably do a brisk business with catering orders, etc. as they sell cocktail pasties, a dozen for $14. I'd come back to get some of those if I was having a gathering!

I really wanted to love this place, because I drove a 1/2 an hour to get here. I love pasties. I just didn't love these pasties. I grew up loving them, and that's one of the reasons I wanted to love these. I've been looking for a great place to find great pasties, and so far, no success. There was a lot of meat and a lot of potatoes inside and the crust was palatable. The problem was that they are just too dry. You should be able to just pick them up and eat them maybe have something to drink with them, but not necessarily. With these pasties, You must slather than in gravy, have something to drink, ladel them with butter, or something. They are just so very dry! After hearing about this place and having wanted so very much to love them, I was so very disappointed that they weren't great as I had heard. I will keep looking for a really good pastie place.

Good service but the food is simply not worth it. Take the veggie pastie, it tastes like boiled nothing. Add some flavors! Add some spice! Add curry, make the dough thinner and crispy, bake to order.
