Opinions de Rick Erwin's West End Grille Greenville
Had dinner with a group for a retirement dinner. The service was first class with attention to detail while ensuring a wonderful experience. Thomas who lead his team was knowledgeable and explained the food options with passion and great detail. Rick came out too to ask that we were satisfied. A memorable evening in our private dining room
Looking for something different on a more quite part downtown with valet parking 🅿️ it’s across from the park when arriving we were greeted with a smile our host was amazing well knowledgeable on menu items they had beautiful bar area separate section of the restaurant the services was 10/10 our food was well done well seasoned cook to perfection this perfect place for date night late dinner corporate employees hand outing after work definitely will be going back near future
I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday at Rick’s. The service and attention to detail was incredible. With two waiters I felt like royalty, one of my waiters Kevin actually walked me to the bathroom vs just giving instructions. Our other waiter was great as well he kept us laughing all night we asked 100000 questions and he answered them with ease. We ordered the dry aged Ribeye 10/10 recommend!
Wonderful dining experience. BTW we didn’t realize it but Valet immediately in front of restaurant is included in the meal. We had a wonderful filet! The vegetable sides are family style, plenty big enough to share with 2-3 people. Our server, Abdoulaye was great at helping with menu selections including the excellent Au gratin potato’s & asparagus. We had a fantastic apple butter cake with ice cream for dessert! Will spend $100+ pp depending on course selection & beverages.
From the moment we walked in, we were treated like we had stepped into a Michelin-star establishment. The experience was flawless from start to finish. Every detail felt intentional, thoughtful, and deeply professional — the kind of service and quality you hope for but rarely find. Our server, Abdoulaye, was nothing short of outstanding. He was attentive without being intrusive, incredibly knowledgeable, warm, genuine, and made us feel truly special. His timing was perfect, and clearly enjoys providing an exceptional dining experience. You don’t come across service like that often — he elevated our night in a way we’ll remember forever. The food was Divine. Every bite was a masterpiece. We got to try some incredible A5 Waygu. Beautifully plated, rich in flavor, melt in your mouth, and prepared with clear craftsmanship. You could taste the quality of ingredients and the care taken in every dish. It was the kind of meal that makes you slow down and savor each bite, because you don’t want the experience to end. This wasn’t just dinner — it was a moment. Thank you for an unforgettable evening — especially to Abdoulaye. You made it extraordinary.
My girlfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary here tonight. Abdoulaye, was our sever. Abdoulaye was excellent in every way imaginable, and truly helped make our night be as special as it could’ve been. We started with the calamari, tasted great. I had the 16oz ribeye, medium rare, with a side of Brussel sprouts mixed with bacon jam, and au gratin potatoes. My girlfriend had the surf and turf with crab cakes, mashed potatoes, asparagus and 2 scallops. Everything was amazing, simply phenomenal. Taste was rich with plenty of distinct flavors. We repeatedly kept saying “Wow” with how good everything was. At one point we were greeted my Rick Erwin himself which was a pleasant surprise. Lastly, Abdoulaye got us a champagne, and a crème brûlée with chocolate writing on the plate wishing us a happy anniversary. We also tried the tiramisu, which was delicious, we were tempted to lick the plate clean. Truly amazing experience, we will definitely be back.
The meal was delicious. One in our group had surf and turf, another had steak Frits and I had scallops with butternut squash risotto. All tasted amazing!
Only one word, Extraordinary! Staff was friendly and courteous from the time we entered til we walked out at the end of our meal. We had a reservation to celebrate a birthday, so there was no wait. I would highly recommend making a reservation, although you can walk in. Our server Thomas was amazing, attentive, & friendly. His drinks and food suggestions were not only the restaurants highlighted specials but his personal choices. They were spot on. He and Nolan checked on us frequently. The baked oysters were delectable. But how to describe our entrees. The New York strip with blue cheese crust was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The filet mignon, Surf and Turf, cooked perfectly and savory. The lamb chops were slightly overcharred. Thomas apologized and removed the meal. Crispy Brussels sprouts and Gratin potatoes were so delicious that we rationed the servings. Everything was beautifully prepared. The birthday dessert, peach cobbler. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top was a delightful contrast to the warm, gooey goodness. A surprise highlight to dinner, Rick Erwin stopping by every table thanking patrons for coming in.
Had a wonderful experience here while visiting Greenville. Beautiful decor and festive vibe. Many birthdays were being celebrated. I had the ahi tuna. A generous portion of perfect tuna along with bok choy and edamame. My wife had the pappardelle with meatballs. Also a generous portion, and the meatballs were excellent. The red sauce was on the sweet side, but still good. We would absolutely return to dine again.
Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! We were greeted by valet which made for stress free parking while downtown. All of the staff were so kind, welcoming, and attentive! We went on a Monday night and were a bit nervous for quality of food given it's an off night. Literally nothing failed to amaze us! We ordered an array of dishes including the lamb meatballs, the special appetizer risotto, french onion soup, she crab soup, steak trio, lobster linguine, strawberry lemon cake, and creme brule! Everything was literally boasting in flavor, so fresh, and unique! Our night felt truly special thanks to this wonderful establishment!
Went to a wedding reception here and It was wonderful. Michael was an awesome waiter, and so were the wait staff working alongside him. The meal and dessert were wonderful! The staff helped with a surprise for the bride and groom ! I am looking forward to coming back here in the future. (The she Crab soup was the best I have tasted👌)
This was our first time coming here, our waiter Abdoulaye was amazing he made our first experience wonderful. The food was amazing we got the surf and turf and Brussel sprouts those were the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. We talked about the food and experience all night and even woke up and said we had to go back. Make sure you ask for Abdoulaye he will make sure you have the best experience.
Amazing dining experience. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. First class. We loved every minute we were there. Highly recommend.
My sweetie and I can't wait to come back to Rick Erwin's. Food was Deliciously Awesome... Service was over the top. Dessert was Carrot Cake and Key lime pie. Let's just say I was already full from dinner, but I couldn't resist...mmmm so good.
Amazing place for a romantic night out! You will not leave disappointed. Mr. Erwin even comes around and speaks to each of his guests. That's what impressed me the most.
It was supposed to be a family dinner but plans changed so we decided to keep the reservation for date night. When we visit a location for the first time we like to try lots of different dishes. Tyler was new but his recommendations were helpful. He'd never tried the ice wines but he hyped them up so well, we got a flight so we could sample all three. I loved them. Even the red and I usually detest reds. Hopefully, they let Tyler sample the ice wines and waygu carpaccio. All in all, another great date night meal and we're looking forward to our next location.
Absolutely loved our server. She was very helpful and attentive. The food was amazing, the restaurant was beautiful and the staff were great. We shared the steak trio, and it was prepared perfectly.
Wonderful experience! Staff is extremely kind and the owner, Rick Erwin came to thank my husband and I for coming. Such a humble and kind man! Great music and romantic lighting. The food was delicious as well! My favorite had to be the chargrilled oysters and the creme brûlée. Steak was cooked to perfection! The strawberry basil cocktail was so refreshing. We will most definitely be back!
Visited for my my first time while passing through Greenville for work. Ate a delicious filet and crab cake while sitting at the bar. Liz, Kevin, and Zach (Zack?) working behind the bar were so friendly and so nice. Felt like home. Thanks for a great dinner! See you next year.
Rick's is the place to go, my partner's cousin advised as a local, offering to treat us and our two friends to dinner along with his son one evening. Not the one in Casablanca. The one in downtown Greenville where we spent a wonderful week. Being seated at a corner table for six near the bar, we were served their crispy homemade potato chips while we ordered drinks. Disappearing quickly, they brought us a second batch. The Oysters Rockefeller was the most amazing dish of this fine dining experience. So fresh and tender, they could be swallowed whole like a shooter at a sushi bar, but then all that great seasoning, spinach and cheese couldn't be savored. The Nola BBQ shrimp, lamb meatballs and shrimp cocktail we all shared were also good. All premium steaks were cooked as ordered. The Delmonico Ribeye is the only cut offered on the menu as wet-aged (12 oz) or dry-aged (16 oz). Our table ordered two of these dry-aged, two prime NY Strips, and one 11 oz. filet mignon. Each one was tender and flavorful with excellent add-ons, from seared foie gras to truffle chive butter. The one pasta entrée, goat cheese ravioli with add-on chicken, was another example of fine cooking from the kitchen. Creamed spinach and au gratin potato sides worked well with all the dinners, in addition to the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon "Bella Union" three of us enjoyed. {Editor's note: I included two photos of our heated up leftovers in this review to show how wonderful the take home portions were to savor again.}
Excellent restaurant. Great steaks! Great bar! Great service. I had the Delmonico Ribeye. It was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. Great sides that are served family style. Potatoes Au gratin, lobster macaroni and cheese, were very good. Great Caesar salad. We ordered the seafood tower as an appetizer with Lobster, crab claws, shrimp, and oysters. It was very good. I would definitely recommend this location
This was our first visit to Rick Erwin’s and it was for our 10yr anniversary. I don’t know how our experience could have been any better unless someone surprised us by paying the bill. We had some amazing drinks at the bar before our reservation and the staff is fantastic at both customer service, genuine friendliness, and drink making. Kevin, Connor, and Kylie were AWESOME! Our appetizer and entrees were probably the best meal we’ve ever had, no joke. Maybe it was the two Old Fashioned’s and tequila I had at the bar beforehand but there was just something different about our dinner. It was so delicious. If I could have shaken the hands of the guys and gals that prepared our meal I would have 100%. Tristan was a great server too. Very knowledgeable and great with recommendations. Easy guy to have a conversation with. We will definitely be back!!!
I was sure that I left review already... Anyway, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. I always celebrate special occasions here. The quality of meals is outstanding and the service is always great! P.S. bar menu is from September 2025
Not sure why it was my 1st time here but I finally visited one of the very respected local Rick Erwin restaurants. Starting with the lovely Hostess Betsy, meeting the Chef, the Manager, and not to mention the three divas Morgan, Claire, and Katy at the bar. Thank you for serving me and making everyone at the bar feel special. And finally, the food was great as I expected I did not expect to have three of the coctails, "The Amelia". Yesss!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in GVL. We got a gift card for dinner and forgot it in the car but it was so good that we know we will be back again to use it in the future!
Stopped in Greenville on our way to Atlanta and made sure to spend some time walking around downtown to enjoy the sights. When it came time for dinner, we decided to give this place a try. No reservation, but the hostess was accommodating and asked if we'd like to wait in the bar. When we walked in, we liked the ambiance so much we decided to eat there. Our bartender was FANTASTIC. Friendly but have us plenty of space. He made sure to bring fresh chips, bread and olive oil. The bread was amazing. I ordered a whiskey sour - it was mixed beautifully. We ordered the 3 for $42 which includes a salad, fillet and dessert. Caesar dressing was delicious. Fillet was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the surf and turf. Bartender offered scallops instead of crab cakes and they didn't disappoint. They were seared perfectly. Both entrees came with asparagus and creamy, whipped potatoes. Delicious! After another round of cocktails, he delivered the creme brulee and coffee. What a dilectable way to end the meal. I highly recommend having dinner and drinks at Rick Erwin's. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Great food, Great service. Steak was cooked perfectly. Server was very professional.
Hands down best meal I have eaten in Greenville to date! Nice touch to have Rick Erwin himself to stop by our table to say hello and the wait staff was top notch. Surf and turf is definitely worth returning again and again! The butter cake? Fantastic!!!!! They also surprised us with complementary champagne for our celebration!
Rick, Kevin and the entire team at Rick Erwin's are top notch - the steaks and sides are amazing.
Luxury restaurant, good service, good taste food ( if my food had less salt that would be better). Super busy location, make sure make a reservation or get there early ( they always save a few tables just for walking in customers).
Excellent overall experience!!! Rick Erwin was in the house and stopped by our table. Service was excellent! Extensive wine list is available. Fresh baked bread was amazing. In our party we tried lamb meatballs, she crab soup, and Cesar salad. The meatballs and she crab soup really stood out. Dry agree rib eye and the filet mignon were outstanding!!!! The au gratin potatoes and the balsamic goat cheese mushrooms were excellent. Desserts were very good. The key lime pie and crème brûlée stood out. Free valet parking available. I would eat here again!!!!
We genuinely look forward to coming back to Rick Erwin’s every time! Our server Abdoulaye is absolutely phenomenal. He is hands down one of the BEST waiters we have ever had, he is so genuine and timely with everything he does. He also has remembered us every time that we return, which makes it that much more special. We truly adore him and he creates the perfect experience for us.
My wife and I enjoyed our 9 year anniversary at Rick Erwin’s. Our waiter was Preston. He was one of the best waiters I have ever had. Very professional, communicated really well, and his timing on service and asking how things were was impeccable. We didn’t even have to think about asking for something, Preston knew what we needed before we did. He was 3 for 3 on the food recommendations as well. He never led us to something we didn’t like. Every single thing we bit into was another moment of joy. I will ALWAYS come to Rick Erwin’s when I visit Greenville. If Preston’s available, we want him! Fantastic job man, you need a raise!!
I love Rick Erwin's. It reminds me of a classic Chicago Steakhouse; delicious high-quality food, top-notch service, and comfortable ambiance. I took guests from out of town here, and they raved about how much they enjoyed the dining experience. If you're entertaining clients or guests, or if you yourself are coming in from out of town, put this restaurant on your must-visit list. The locals already know. You won't be disappointed!
My husband and i spent our date night here on 10-24-25 and it was one of the best nights ever! The waitress was so attentive! She remembered our names and had an amazing personality! Each course came out perfectly! We will totally be back! And to top it all off we got a photo with Rick Erwin himself! He was so personable as well!
Everything we ate was the best we’ve ever had!! The surf and turf was amazing! The filet was so tender and perfectly seared and the crab cake and remoulade were superb! We had a big party and Raymond took such great care of us. Everyone is so thoughtful and attentive and he even taught us some fancy napkin folds—so good!
One of my best meal experiences ever. The service was as good as it gets. Atmosphere was perfect. Food couldn't be beat. I look forward to my next trip there. The onion rings were too much, literally. I could only eat 1 ring. Under order the rings, you can get more if I'm wrong. They were great just big and rich. Trust me, one ring per person.
Excellent experience. There are tables with a great view of the water. Great service, that was timely and respectful of conversation. Table assistance (water) always full. Food was fantastic. We had one minor issue w an appetizer and that was promptly handled.
Even with all the great new places, Rick Erwin’s remains my favorite restaurant in Greenville. The food, drinks, and ambiance are all perfect for a nice meal or special occasion.
We sat at the bar tables and the food was so fast! The waitress clearly worked with the people that were beside us, on their off day, and she was chatting it up and goofing off with them. It was fine, but a little less attentive to us. I would prefer a dining room table next time. But I'm glad we got in to try out the food. Very delicious steak!
I have lived in Greenville for a long time - a native. I have been here for a cocktail but never sat down for dinner. It was a 5 star experience. Our waiter, Colin, - absolutely amazing. We were celebrating a new job with the family of 6. The service was really what you would hope for at an establishment like this and even more than you expect. The service was spectacular and the steaks were cooked perfectly. I would HIGHLY recommend.
I can barely put into words how amazing this restaurant is, the finest dining in south carolina to say the least. it was my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to create the most memorable dining experience ive ever had. Our server kevin deserves all the credit in the world, started with the meatballs.. perfectly flowed into soups and salads with the tastiest bread, followed were the entrees I got a porterhouse and lobster mac and cheese.. everything was perfect. Ive never felt so welcomed and special at a restaurant. The rick erwins dining group is by far the best place to dine for special occasions!! Thank you kevin and staff. 100/10
Always a great dining experience. I have a Filet and it was cooked perfectly! The waiter, Raymond, was professional and lively. The resturant was full and you could see the staff was well organized and efficient. In my opinion this is an example of management creating a great environment for their employees. This resurant is priced fairly for your food quality and atmosphere. Great job! Wish more entrepreneurs ran resturants like this one.
First, let me say the service was excellent. Our waiter Abdoule was very attentive. He throughly explained the menu, offered suggestions, and answered any questions that we had. My husband and I celebrated our five year wedding anniversary. We wanted to try Rick Erwins as we've already tried Halls Chophouse and Chophouse 47. As I stated our service was excellent. My husband ordered dry aged steak, lobster mac and cheese, and creamy spinach. I ordered the filet mignon with crab meat, and steamed lobster tail. The lobster mac and cheese and spinach were very salty and the steak lacked salt. The server asked how everything was and offered to take it off the bill. However we don't like sending food back or getting anything for free. Im not sure if we'll return due to this. As we know this is a pricey restaurant. Thank you for celebrating our five year wedding anniversary ❤️ with us .
Went for our anniversary on a Saturday evening. Food and cocktails were delicious and perfect. However, service was a little slow, and cocktails and waters went empty without being re-filled (or asked for another). The worst was that we were sat in the back by a rude lady (extra tan in a striped pants suite with belly showing) and next to a table with a mom and 2 young kids that were bouncing around, running around the table and throwing fits. Normally, kids don't bother us, but it was not good for a +$100/head dinner on our anniversary. We were not even thanked as we left the restaurant by this lady or the hosts.. At least they gave us a card that said happy anniversary?? While we will eat here again, this will probably be the last time we celebrate a special occasion at a Rick Erwin's restaurant....
A fancy meal for celebration dinners with some caveats. My experience at Rick Erwin’s West End Grill had its ups and downs giving it a 3.5-4 star experience. When you first get in, the place feels fancy and it seems everyone knows to dress up a little nicer when coming here. I realized it was mainly because almost everyone there was celebrating something. This isn’t a bad thing, but it kind of sets the stage for the rest of the night. Our server was fantastic, we went at peak dinner time so I understand the delay, but we did end up having to ask one of the water busboys to find our waitress since no one had greeted us for awhile. All that being said, our waitress more than made up for it with generosity and a great remainder of the night. My wife and I ordered the porterhouse for 2 medium, bread, baked sausage rigatoni, a crab cake, and the carrot cake with some drinks throughout the meal. The bread was very enjoyable with Parmesan on top but no option for butter is disappointing. The porterhouse was hard to discover with the filet side outperforming the strip by a mile. Both were a little undercooked and under seasoned but still nothing a little salt couldn’t fix. The mashed potatoes garnish on the other hand might as well be play dough, minimal flavor and no sign of milk or butter. The crab cake was full of crab chunks so I definitely recommend! The star of the show was the rigatoni. I can’t put my finger on why, but the sauce and flavors were spot on compared to many Italian restaurants in the area. The meal was wrapped up nicely with a carrot cake that needed a little more sweetness in either the cake or the cream cheese. The only way for it all to mix perfectly was to get a piece of the brown sugar on top. Overall, not a perfect experience but I did like the opportunity to dress up and have a decent steak down town. I don’t know if I will be back but now I know what to expect. Come here to feel celebrated in a fancy restaurant!
I had an early dinner at the bar. My cocktail was excellent. But I found both the smash burger meat and the aioli unpalatably rich, cloying. The staff were attentive and asked me twice how I liked the food. I told them exactly this. One asked if he could get me something else. But he didn't make clear what he meant. Would I pay for two entrees, or would the second one usurp the first? So, I paid for the burger and disappointed, took my leave.
I went there with a couple of girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. I am not a stranger to Rick Erwin’s restaurants. They are truly some of the best around. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing. The service was amazing as always and the crème brûlée was very good. However, the cowboy sirloin was burnt and full of fat. I ordered it medium. It certainly was not the quality that is typical. Extremely disappointed.
We had a reservation Saturday night for 8 people. Several times throughout the meal we felt as though we were being rushed. At one point during the meal the server picked up my half eaten salad before I was done. She had already placed another plate on top of my salad before I realized what had happened. Our entrees took an hour and a half to reach the table after we finished appetizers and salads. Everyone at the table, except one person, had a steak and unfortunately everything was cold. Having waited over an hour already to eat we decided not to say anything to the server. In total we were at the table for over two hours despite the servers desire to turn the table as quickly as possible. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for cold food. Given the ticket time on the meal I figured someone, the waitress or manager, would acknowledge the issue but that didn’t occur. Very disappointing meal but great view and atmosphere.
This was always our favorite place to go to celebrate any kind of event. Last night me and my husband went for a night out and were very disappointed. Our waiter seemed more interested in giving us theatrics than service. He wanted to know both of our names, what we were celebrating, and asked other personal questions but forgot to ask-Would you like an appetizer? Do you know about the specials? This was actually what I came in for. I looked on the menu and to my dismay the one thing that I love the most wasn’t on the menu. He never mentioned it so I assumed they had removed it. After I ordered the tuna which came out to be tuna soup (Completely covered in sauce so much that I couldn’t taste the tuna) I heard the waiters around me suggesting the specials to other guests . I should have known something was off when I ordered a vodka martini and he repeated that he would be right out with my dirty martini. I corrected him and when he placed it on the table he said “one dirty martini!”I had to ask him to remake it. When he brought my husband‘s drink there was a gnat crawling around it. Now I understand why were able to get right in on a Saturday night. I’m pretty sure this will be my last time coming.
