We had a great time at our date night at MaKi sushi! I ended up calling in advance about my allergens and the team was really great about making sure that there was no cross-contamination with dairy or peanuts (none present in the facility) during our visit. One of the owners even followed up with me after our trip to make sure we had a great experience in terms of allergens. Would definitely recommend!
Robyne was excellent! I will be coming back! Her service was A1, she was kind, greeted me and my family with a warm smile! Definitely a great way to welcome us to SC! Thanks Rob! We love you!
Best Sushi place in town. Serves everything! The tuna is amazing. Definitely go here first for sushi cravings.
The most amazing place. The Diablo Gyoza was the most delicious I have ever had. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere delightful. You will absolutely love. Thank you so much for the incredible service and hospitality. Aerylle was amazing and offered fabulous suggestions. Definitely ask for her. Thank you again!! 💯💯💯💯💯❤️
The food is very good, but the service is great! We had the Tiger roll (excellent), the surf and turf roll (very good) and the New York strip with red mash and vegetables (I would order it again). We followed it up with marble creme brulle cheesecake. Shay is an absolute delight as a server! If we come through again, I would ask for her. The tables on the sidewalk could affect wheelchair access.
Came in to celebrate with a friend and the service, food, and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic! Jay was our server and he was attentive, kind, and well educated on the menu both food and wine/liquor wise (I believe he may also be a bartender). Ordered the calamari, dynamite (dynamo) gyoza, friend vegetable tempura, fried shumai for apps absolutely fantastic especially the sauce that came with the calamari. Ginger salads (add the sauce from the dynamo gyoza). Spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, Rambo roll, and the special kimono roll. For the adventurous eater get the sea urchin nigiri for a fresh exact taste of the ocean! Medium rare strip steak with teriyaki sauce, mushroom risotto, and brocollini was an absolute SHOW STOPPER a totally unforgettable plate. Finish with the ube cheesecake! Paired with two Buddha buttons, a glass of cab and one of their fantastic fruity cocktails 💕✨
Wonderful place to eat! Downtown Anderson, relaxing atmosphere, all the feels... My husband got the shrimp tempura roll and I got the Charleston roll- both were delicious, as well as the beef lettuce wraps our waitress recommended we try. We enjoyed the food very much and can't wait to return! Our waitress was very attentive and very nice. The restaurant had a clean feeling, and so did the restrooms.
Maki Sushi is an at least one time a month dinner for me. From the service to the atmosphere to the amazing food, you won’t find anything better! My go to is the Dynamic Salmon as the main course and you’ve got to try The Ranger Roll!!
Best sushi in Anderson! Lots of other options to choose from too. My wife and I truly enjoyed our experience at Maki. The food was great. The service was great even though they were VERY busy. The atmosphere is really nice. And it’s right downtown Anderson where things are happening and growing fast. The sushi is so delicious. We tried a couple of options. I had the seared tuna entree with the rice and all of it was so good! The calamari was good but not quite what we hoped for. Our standard for calamari might be a little skewed though because we had our favorite calamari ever in Jamaica a couple of months ago. The drinks were also great. We tried a few different ones and there is a great selection to choose from. Our server was friendly and attentive. The place was hopping and we really enjoyed the vibe. Can’t wait to go back! —- Update 7/8/22 Visited again for lunch. Still excellent!
Me and my girlfriend went here for our one year and it was delicious and amazing. Definitely the best sushi place in Anderson if you’re willing to cough up the money!
I came here for my birthday and had a great time. Aeryelle was such a nice server! She made us laugh and feel really welcome. The sushi was delicious and all tasted so fresh and high quality. I think some of the spicy rolls could be spicier, but that’s a personal preference and the wasabi always helps give it a kick. The AU roll was outstanding! I also got Chef RJ’s Surprise dessert and the red bean filling was to die for. Loved it and I’m so happy we have such a great sushi place in Anderson!
Sushi was very fresh. Service was excellent. The uptown atmosphere was very nice and the service spot on. I highly recommend their salmon rolls.
RJ (owner) and his able staff continue their 5 year home grown campaign of Sushi excellence, fabulous service, and artistic and beautifully presented meals in Old Downtown Anderson, SC. Come, enjoy, like we did - and make a memory. This place rocks it! Thanks RJ for running a top notch establishment. Well done man!
My last lunch date with my grandson, as he is moving to Michigan for a job. He loves sushi 🍣
Had the greenvillevand the ranger specialty rolls along with skinny margarita! Fresh and sooo good! Service was excellent!
The chef choice sushi was quite good. I would recommend the chirashi also. Yuzu Tom Collins was also excellent.
Lol posted my comment in the questions lol, panda be making the best rolls with the best conversations so make sure when you sit at the sushi bar he's your man. And if you want the best service in from a waitress, Bailey is the one your looking for, but be careful because she will win the game, looking forward to round 2 -Devin
Very good Filipino food I definitely recommend this place
We had a fantastic meal and a unique roll with tasty lobster! The service was fast, friendly and very accommodating. We recommend Maki Sushi Bar & Bistro!
The best sushi I’ve had so far. The atmosphere was great, service was top notch and food is spectacular!!!
Great sushi experience. Ginger salad, mixed Tempura, nigiri maduro, sake, unagi were delicious. The piece de resitance was the purple cheesecake. Yum.
Staff is very friendly, great service and food.
The best sushi experience in the upstate of SC. Awesome and friendly service. The location and restaurant is really classy. If you like sushi or are interested in trying sushi, Maki is the place to go.
This was my first time eating here and I can honestly say everything was delicious and season well. Nice atmosphere with a great friendly staff.
Dana and her team hosted my husband’s celebration of life in early May and they did an absolutely fantastic job! The food and service were top notch. Dana’s attention to detailed allowed me to concentrate on the event and my guests. I cannot rave enough about the event and how well all of my guests were treated!
Top notch experience! Friday evening. Party of 12. Promptly seated and greeted by server. Seated in newer area. Food delivered timely and orders correct. Drinks kept full. Highly recommend. Will be back!
Excellent service and even better than Excellent food. I highly recommend the Ranger Roll but everything we ordered was amazing. We don't visit often but every visit includes dinner at Maki. I highly recommend your next visit includes sushi at Maki. Thank you Maki for making our day better.
Sushi was amazing, our server Dylan S. really made the experience even better though. Most interactive, attentive, helpful, and entertaining server I’ve had.
Excellent customer service, excellent cuisine, great atmosphere. All around a great vibe for any time of the day! Menu is one of a kind and I will be visiting again!!
I come here all the time from r sushi and I recommend it to anyone looking for a spot to eat. The sushi is always good and high quality and the sake is also able to hit the spot every time. The staff is friendly and quick to serve you and the line staff is almost always joined by the owner making you feel the care he puts into his craft and business.
Dined here for the first time the other night and the seafood was fresh and the food was delicious but the service by Samantha was by far the best I’ve ever had. She was so attentive and friendly. 10/10 would recommend. Can say she made a regular customer in my family and I
Good sushi. Conveniently located downtown. Good service. Wide selection of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. They also have a bar with whatever you want to drink.
This place only gets better and better! The food is always amazing. We had the pleasure of having Aeriel as our server tonight. She was attentive, had amazing recommendations, and fun. She took the amazing food experience to a whole new level! They have expanded the menu and when we ordered we had no idea we were getting so much food! So happy and this has become our favorite local spot
To traveling back home to Hilton head Island we randomly stopped there for dinner. Coincidentally it was a holiday evening and they were very busy, but the hostess found a table for us anyway. What a delay the food is outstanding! We had steamed dumplings, filet mignon, dynamite salmon, and Ramen soup. Each dish was better than the next. Maki is reason enough to visit Anderson, South Carolina.
Lovely, solstice eve meal with my sis and my son. Maki is in a great space on Main Street. Spacious, gently lit atmosphere is welcoming. There is a large, well staffed sushi bar. The menu is just enough to give plenty of choice & consistently deliver well prepared dishes. Beverage menu is ample as well. We had a very good server, Michael, who helped make the experienc a complete and wonderful meal.
We love maki! Met some friends here for dinner and first, we were seated right away even on a busy night where they were overbooked, the staff was super accommodating! Our server Dylan was wonderful! He had great energy and recommendations. We ended up letting him choose our rolls and they were all delicious!
This is my my husband and mines favorite restaurant! The chef Tom always makes the best food. We typically get the specials and I love how unique they are each time. You won't regret trying this place. The ONLY thing that kinda throws me off is that the waitstaff is always dressed so well. But, the host always has on like a baggy shirt and some leggings. And no she doesn't look bad, its just strange with everyone else looking professional.
Great sushi. They made sure to mention my fiancee's birthday. They put Happy b day on her sushi plate that they brought out. Great touch. Waiter was respectful. Always pleased when a male waiter pays attention to both parties, but respectively focuses on the man. Old school respects and I appreciate him for that. We will definitely go back!
Maki never disappoints! They’ve added some new menu items since they’ve expanded into the building next door. Go check them out! Sawyer was our server tonight and I want to say he is the absolute best! Over the past few years tonight was probably the best service I’ve ever received! Great job, Sawyer!
We had a pleasant Monday-date-night! We literally never get out. We sat at the bar and OT was a great server. He allowed us ample time to order, eat apps, have drinks, and then bring our food. He and the Sushi Chef, Duran, made it an EXCELLENT date night.
The fish tasted fresh, and the service was good. I will say the price was more expensive than a few places I’ve been to that do sushi better. So that was a bummer. The other side that was tough is they were doing a limited menu (it was a big stretch fair in Anderson, so no hard feelings about it), but not all the staff was on the same page. We had our kids (3 and 1) with us, and they had forgone the kids menus. But someone told my wife that they had kids options. The server was very polite about it and worked to find options but they didn’t really work with the picky toddlers. Overall a good sushi place that’s a bit over priced.
Tuesday thru Thursday will be a pleasant experience than Friday and Saturday due to traffic volume if you need and want attention at a table or the sushi bar….But there is a long nice full bar. Downtown Main Street Anderson village - reminds me of a gentrified large Greer or a small Greenville -the restaurant is a two story refurbished building. Very modern tasteful decor with blond wood wall art seating on the second floor for a more quiet setting as well as outdoors sitting. Service is typical of the South, struggling to be professional combined with the Southern natural friendliness and polite. The food was definitely fresh. The salad was large fresh with at least 10 different kinds of greens topped with our choice of tuna. Sashimi was hood with pieces cut half the size we are used to in the West of the country or other local places. Sushi also good and fresh and fish size decent but still smaller than expected. The eel hand roll wrap was not toasted and felt chewy but they are not the only ones not toasting s ne finally ….please don’t complain about pricing and deduct stars. Sushi is expensive in general. Some more some less. Thus one was not least expensive but neither the most expensive. Go enjoy your time .
Sushi was really good, prices are ok. Portions are small. Staff was friendly and helpful. It does get very loud inside
Maki introduced me to Buddah Buttons. I've been a fan ever since then. Great atmosphere. Worth the trip if you are looking for good food. P.S. Sushi is NOT just raw fish...try it!
I had a call in order today. I looked at the menu online( so I thought) and called in my order. I order a California roll, and teriyaki chicken. I thought I was ordering off the lunch menu. When I called I was never informed the teriyaki chicken wasn't on the lunch menu. But I thought I'd be paying the amount on the lunch menu online but I was wrong I was charged $22.00 for the teriyaki chicken. I called to ask about it and the lady then informed me that it's no longer on the lunch menu. So definitely don't go off the menu that I did. I definitely wouldn't of payed $22 just for teriyaki chicken. And a tiny thing of shrimp sauce. Adding photos so you don't make the mistake that I did thinking your ordering from their lunch menu when it's not.
We enjoy sushi and typically go to The Galley for it. Maki was suggested by someone so thought we should give it a go. Made a last minute reservation through open table. Showed up at time and was promptly seated , restaurant was very busy. Had a great table in a loft area looking out on to Main Street. Mia our server came over and introduced herself and took our drink order. I'll say this, Mia did a good job, not sure if she is newer but could uae a little refinement. Our biggest issue was we felt very rushed by her, she obviously had somewhere to be as we were there near closing time. We ordered edamame and lettuce wraps Edamame was awesome, lettuce wraps were disappointing. Lettuce was warm and wilted and we chose shrimp as our protein and it tasted great but for a dish where your "making the wrap" you need to serve with shrimp tails off. Lettuce needs to be crisp, cold and consistent in sizing. Ordered 6 pieces of Nigiri and 3 rolls. Food was good and portions were good size One suggestion to the sushi chef is the rolls need to be tight, they were difficult to eat because they were so loose. Overall not terrible and a cool atmosphere. We will give it another shot soon to see if this was a one off.
Food wasn’t great. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was lauded with black pepper. My husband has 3 sushi rolls and they were very small and didn’t have much taste. Very expensive for what we got but the service was good.
We’ve been coming to Maki for several years since moving to Belton and in the beginning it was great . Service was good , the staff was very friendly and a few waiters would remember us (Emily,Robin ) and greet us even if we couldn’t get one of their tables . They remembered our drink choices and usually part of our order . Lately it just seems the food is subpar and the wait staff aren’t very friendly at all . Yesterday was the worst for me . I got a spider roll and Charleston roll and tuna tataki for an appetizer. The tuna tasted like it had been sitting in the cooler unwrapped and my rolls were terrible. My husband had 3 rolls and he said they were good and his beef tataki was good as usual . I’m going to attach a picture of my rolls (I ate them thank goodness for eel sauce and wasabi) I don’t eat seaweed so they use another wrap I’m assuming rice paper . My rolls have never come out looking like this before but the service and food quantity have definitely been going down hill over the past year or more . The sushi chef should definitely been ashamed of the quality he let his waiter serve and if I would have been the waiter I would have not served them to my customer. It seems they were not taking pride in the job at all . We will not be returning to Maki . I encourage anyone that reads this review to take the short ride into Greenville for several great sushi restaurants to choose from.
I guess if they’re so busy they don’t need my business. We called ahead and was told there’s no wait. No one mentioned a reservation. We got there and got asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t (but would have made one when we called if it had been offered). The two young girls at the front acted like it was a bother. We got seated at a tall table. I’m wearing a skirt and don’t want to be on display to all the lower tables so I ask for another table. I was told she’d ask but they have so many reservations that it’s probably not gonna happen. Never mind that I have short legs and arthritis. But ok. She gave us one menu and said we’d have to share because they didn’t have any menus. And the table was dirty. If I wanted the cheap diner experience I’d go to Waffle House. But I mean they’re so successful I guess they can afford to be snobbish and run off customers. Hope the luck holds out and it doesn’t catch up to them after this happens to enough people. We left and went somewhere else that we know has stellar service and food that is just as good. (Maki has really good food but not good enough to be treated like a burden.)
Is not real sushi, I prefer buy sushi in Publix i get sick the fish is not good quality, 😐 de service is ok If you oder food like soup, you be ready to wait and the food coming could. I never back; higher prices for the bad quality food
