Favorite dinner in the Valle de Guadalupe. The amazing food, hospitality and setting made for an unforgettable experience.
Outstanding food and wine pairing, beautifully presented—an amazing experience!
Head to toe, gorgeous! Haven’t had my culinary mind blown in a while. Totally worth it.
This was such a special dining experience. I can’t recommend this place enough. The service and food were spectacular!
Amazing food and service worth checking out
Incredible from start to finish. What an amazing experience.
One of the best experience in the world, I ever had 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Mindblowing!
Chef Esteban and the team put together a wonderfully memorable meal this evening. The genuine service, thoughtful preparation and meticulous presentation in a beautiful atmosphere was truly outstanding. Looking forward to coming back soon and bringing the rest of the gang. Please remember us and try to squeeze us in when you guys blow up and I can’t get a reservation online anymore ;-)
We had dinner at Damiana for my husband’s birthday. We all had the chef’s tasting menu. The food was fantastic from start to finish. The amuse buche at the beginning was a such a great start. Mostly raw and cured fish. There were some items during the night I’d never experienced before and the chef came out to chat with us about technique at the end of the evening. His father was one of the wait staff that night and he was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant. Absolutely amazing birthday treat!
Honestly my favorite restaurant in Mexico. The food and service were amazing and second to none. We were given 6 crazy tasty bites for the amuse bouche along with 6 fantastic courses. They talked us through each dish and where it came from, mostly all from ensañada to ensure freshness. Would give more stars if I could and will go back when I’m in the area. Well well well deserving of its Michelin Star
We had been scheduled to dine Thursday at another fine restaurant but after reading about Damiana and their recent Michelin star, we changed our plans. What a great decision. The entire experience was one of the finest we have ever had, anywhere. The environment is warm, inviting, sophisticated, and yet comfortable. We loved every little detail from the setting, lighting, tables, cocktails, and the perfect playlist ( when we heard Lou Reed, we were all in! ) Of course, the entire tasting menu, was simply amazing. We knew it would be great but it was so much more than that! The paired wines- perfect. Each course and pairing was introduced without pretension. The food was unbelievable and we were amazed and smiling with every bite. What truly made the evening unforgettable for us was the staff. The professionalism, kindness, and knowledge was simply remarkable. Always anticipating every need without intrusion or distraction. Thank you for an amazing experience. We heartily recommend Damiana! Thank you, Chef, Family, and Staff.
Amazing experience with fantastic service. The food was superb. We had full tasting with wine pairing. They were accommodating with food issues (I hate cilantro) and made me separate yet equal portions when needed. Thank you to staff and chef!!!
We had a great tasting menu at Damiana a few days ago. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is good (not great), but if you come during the day and sit outside, they have a really nice patio. The view from the vineyard above is even better. The food was really great as was the service. They are able to adapt to a vegetarian/vegan diet, so that was really nice. The main issue is (not really an issue) that there are 1-2 places in Valle that are better, but overall, I would recommed coming here for sure. 8/10
We had a wonderful experience at Damiana last night. We sat under the Pirul trees on their beautiful patio and enjoyed a six course meal with a rather generous amuse bouche start! Standouts were a rockfish dish with perfectly crispy skin and super delicate/moist fish. The tuna ceviche was super tasty as well as a decadent corn masa with some sort of rich cheese foam. Everything was served and explained by the chef himself, who was super nice and engaging. If you’ve checked Fauna off the list, head to Damiana! Or, just go there instead. The food, drinks, environs and hospitality were top notch.
Excellent place for cozy/private lunch or dinner. It is fairly new but suffice it to say I was impressed. It is a tasting style menu that the chef switches daily depending on what ingredients he gets delivered. He also does a good wine pairing with wines from the region. The service is great. They are very cordial and attentive. The chef even took the time to sit down with us for a quick chat to see how our experience was. I highly recommend this place for any foodie or families alike. We had a table next to us that had a girl of about 8 years old and the chef accommodated the menu to her as well.
Family owned, farm to table. Food was excellent, plated nicely, great mix of flavors. Lots of fresh veggies and fish. Soup that day was outstanding! Ceviche was fresh with nice flavor. The tuna was seared perfectly and the sauces were complimentary to the food. We are definitely coming back. Staff was outstanding. Bi-lingual which is nice for visitors! There is a great space for a wedding or large party!
The best dinner we had while in Valle. The food was out of this world, the service impeccable. The chef greeted us upon arrival, and came to our table several times to explain the dishes we ordered. Each dish was beautifully presented and so fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to return.
We have been to many restaurants in the Valle and Damiana stood out far and above. The food was absolutely amazing. You could truly tell how much the staff and chefs cared about what they were doing and serving. One of our absolute best experiences and will be back every time we visit the area
Absolutely delicious - every course was excellent. When we do it again we will include the wine pairing.
Food was BEYOND a 5 star, absolutely everything was delicious. Gorgeous views and extremely friendly service. Will have to return for the duck.
Phenomenal food. Excellent wine pairings. They are clearly gunning for that second star.
Excelente servicio, Excelente comida!
Deli deli delicioso y mega buen servicio.
Dining at Damiana in Valle de Guadalupe is less a meal and more a carefully choreographed experience—one rooted in generosity, craftsmanship, and quiet confidence. From the outset, we were met with genuine flexibility and care in accommodating our reservation, setting the tone for an evening defined by thoughtfulness rather than formality. We chose the chef’s tasting, guided by Chef Esteban, whose presence alone elevates the experience. He took time to visit our table, offering insight into the ingredients, preparation, and philosophy behind several dishes. His warmth and clarity reflected a deep respect for both the food and the people enjoying it. Particularly striking was the attention paid beyond the plate. The tableware—beautiful, tactile, and quietly expressive—was designed by Carla Patterson, whose pottery feels inseparable from the dining experience itself. Each piece carries intention, grounding the meal in a sense of place, artistry, and elemental beauty. Service throughout the evening was exemplary: attentive without intrusion, precise without rigidity. Every detail was anticipated, yet never overbearing. The Michelin recognition is evident not as a badge, but as a byproduct of the immense care invested in the curation of the menu. Each dish was deeply flavorful, thoughtfully composed, and strategically portioned—layered with balance and restraint. We left genuinely full, perhaps even indulgently so, but entirely satisfied and nourished. Our server, Nacho, brought a lightness and charm that made the evening feel personal and joyful, while front-of-house manager Carlos was equally gracious, informative, and accommodating. A small, unexpected gesture to acknowledge our special occasion—offered without prompting—added an element of surprise and magic that will stay with us. We dined on the outdoor terrace at night, where the atmosphere felt intimate and quietly enchanting. While we would love to return during daylight to experience the space anew, our evening was nothing short of exceptional. Damiana leaves you not only satiated, but inspired—carrying with you a sense of appreciation, joy, and reverence for what thoughtful hospitality can be. Our deepest thanks to Chef Esteban, Nacho, and Carlos for an unforgettable and truly memorable experience.
It is no surprise that Damiana has earned a Michelin star two years in a row. You can feel the excellence in every detail. The food is authentic, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Each course in the tasting menu is carefully curated with perfect pacing and balance. The squid, tuna tartare, duck, and pork were all standouts. Honestly, everything was exceptional. The sommelier’s wine pairings were perfect and complemented every dish. The chef personally came out to introduce himself and explain several courses, which made the evening even more special. The ambiance is serene and elegant, and even the flatware adds to the beauty of the experience. Damiana delivers on every level. This is truly the best place to collect a star. Highly recommend!
Chef Esteban and his team created an exquisite dining experience. The food is delicious, the ambiance relaxing.
My husband and I had the six-course tasting menu and it truly lives up to its Michelin star — each dish was exquisite, balancing creativity with respect for Baja California’s local ingredients. From the first amuse-bouche to the final dessert, every plate was beautifully presented and layered with thoughtful flavors. The wine pairings highlighted the valley’s vineyards perfectly, enhancing without overpowering. Service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the evening feel both refined and welcoming. Surrounded by the serene vineyard setting, this was fine dining at its best — elegant yet deeply connected to the region. A must-visit culinary gem in Valle de guadalupe 🌟
Amazing experience throughout the entire time there. Damiana's culinary concept is nostalgic yet new. It provided me with flavors that made me remember my childhood in mexico and a newness that was fun to discover. Their service was impeccable and precise. Their pairings were extremely well done and thought out. We dine often in Valle and so far Damiana has been the best tasting menu I've had in this area. We came with a large party of 7 and the family style plating made it fun and engaging for all of us. Each course was introduced, explained and delicious. We can sincerely feel the hospitality with the staff and general manager. They care about this concept, this restaurant and about people enjoying every aspect of it. It sincerely felt like home. They have a Michelin Star and its very well deserved, and I know we will see the second star soon. We will be back as soon as possible.
Had an amazing meal yesterday in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico at the newly Michelin starred restaurant- Damiana. Every dish that Chef Esteban Lluis presented us on his tasting menu was so perfectly thought out bringing out the flavors of local cuisine of the region. Take all that you love about Mexican cuisine, create emulsifications, sauces, foams, and oils with depth and flavor. Brown butter and black bean pure together - yes please. Ashes of smoked banana leaves, why not. Each dish must have had 5 to 10 components to it, but each with a purpose to balance the dish. Wine pairings and service was so friendly, we really felt at home here. To top it off, the perfect location outside under trees at a winery. Perfect anniversary meal. This is a destination restaurant, and somehow I have a feeling we will make it back here. If you are ever in the port of Ensenada, I highly recommend hiring a taxi to take you to Damiana at Viñedos de la Reina. About a 35 minute drive, we got there around noon, enjoyed a small wine tasting while taking in the view, had a 1pm lunch reservation, done by 3, back on board the ship in plenty of time. The perfect day and very memorable meal.
An Unforgettable Culinary Gem in Valle de Guadalupe I don’t usually write reviews, but every once in a while, you experience something so memorable, so genuinely exceptional, that it feels like a disservice not to share. Damiana is that kind of place. This was our first trip to Mexican wine country, and as seasoned travelers who have eaten our way through Napa, Carmel, Los Olivos, and Paso Robles, we honestly didn’t know what to expect. What we found was one of the most thoughtfully executed, soul-satisfying meals we’ve had anywhere. From the moment we sat under the romantic canopy of an oak tree, it was clear we were in for something special. The setting was serene and elegant, effortlessly charming without being overdone. The six course meal with wine pairings was nothing short of extraordinary, and we knew we were in good hands the second the amuse-bouche arrived: six mini tastings, each a bold yet balanced preview of the flavors to come. Every course was a masterclass in restraint and complexity, with fish dishes that danced with citrus and spice, a decadent duck course, and a standout suckling pig main that was rustic and refined all at once. The menu changes with the seasons, and everything, except a few spices, is sourced within 20 to 30 minutes of the kitchen, which speaks volumes about the restaurant’s connection to the community. The staff was warm, knowledgeable, and made the evening feel personal without ever being overbearing. The chef, who came out multiple times to introduce dishes, was as charming and gracious as the food was delicious. Honestly, we could have shared a bottle of wine and talked with him all night. We ended the evening with a stunning espresso cocktail and four delicate dessert bites that somehow tied everything together in a perfect final note. To top it all off, meals like this in the U.S. would easily cost three to four times as much. Damiana delivers an experience that rivals the finest restaurants anywhere, but with a sincerity and soul that’s rare to find. We’ll be back. And next time, we’re bringing friends.
Wow! Breathtaking! And oh so special. What a true treat this meal was. We appreciate the chef, service, and the beautiful food that was created. It was all truly so delicious and was art. My husband and I were both in awe of how amazing this place was. If you want to treat yourself this place is truly it! I will be dreaming of the blue corn masa tamal
An experience! Outdoor setting is lovely, under the pepper trees (though a little hard to find the entrance in the dark). Food so imaginative and delicious, each offering described, questions answered patiently, and all ingredients either local or from Oaxaca, as the local area has rocky soil only suitable for growing wine. We had the wine pairing which was a great choice - several were local. Service was impeccable. It was a very pricey meal but a fabulous evening.
Wow. This place was absolutely amazing. My husband and I came and absolutely loved every dish. All local ingredients but Oaxacan styled dishes. So many tasty amuse bouches. The soup, duck, and pork with the mole were my favorite! Everyone was also super friendly and the timing of each dish was to perfection. I especially like the warmed pottery/dishes came in.
Last night, my fiancé and I had an extraordinary dining experience at Damiana. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and treated to a complimentary amuse-bouche to start the evening. The six-course meal that followed was nothing short of spectacular, with every dish showcasing unbelievable depth of flavor and impeccable presentation. Chef Esteban personally delivered each course, sharing his insights on the ingredients, techniques, and the perfect way to enjoy each dish alongside its wine pairing. His passion and expertise were evident in every bite, making the experience even more special. Damiana exceeded our expectations in every way, combining outstanding hospitality with a truly memorable culinary journey. We can’t wait to return!
The food tasting experience was one of the best I’ve had. The chef came to our table to explain the appetizers and the suggester order to eat them in. Our host Nolan and our sommelier were both excellent and hands on. Will return again the next time we are here. I recommend this place to all foodies!
They only offer the tasting menu of 6 courses for $2,500 MXN but what a menu! They amuse bouche were like 5 different pieces on top of the 6 courses. You must go there with a huge appetite. The dishes are just delicious, no wonder they won a Michelin star. Service is impeccable, so friendly, so willing to help, so careful of details, explaining every bit. The chef came to our table twice to share with us his insights and inspiration for the dishes. This place is an absolute must.
Incredible fine dining in Valle de Guadalupe. Every dish was rich and flavorful, and the wine pairing was fantastic. In reality we were served 16 different dishes, with a half dozen of those being full courses. It was a little too much food, so pairing down the sizes would be beneficial. Presentation was out of this world and the service is exquisite.
That was an absolutely incredible experience worth visiting the valley. The food is outstanding and we were lucky enough to have the chef present each dish in person. Such a memorable experience. The server Andrea made the whole experience very smooth and pleasant. Thank you very much and.. next time I see you I should have 3 stars, you promised ☺️
I was so excited to see Michelin Guide finally made it to Mexico; the Michelin Star here is very well deserved. The servers, chef, and chef's father go above and beyond to ensure every detail is perfect. From the specialty duster ensuring no wandering leaves have made it onto your table setting, to every unique plating and wine pairing from the property vineyard, the experience was beautiful. Every dish was delectable and well-balanced with the freshest of ingredients, with many dishes being served by chef Esteban himself. The staff was meticulous about accommodating my food allergy. There wasn't a single dish out of the 15 plates I tasted that I didn't love. With an ever evolving menu, I will be sure to return. In a short time I can see this spot earning a second star.
We had the pleasure of dining at Damiana’s last evening. The experience was nothing short of memorable. Chef Esteban has an incredible gift of transforming local ingredients into delectable works of art that are visually stunning and satisfy the most refined pallets. The service was impeccable. Chef’s dad and Andrea were the most gracious hosts and we felt that we were treated like honored guests or family. This was our first visit, but certainly not the last.
Damiana Restaurant, in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, México, holds a well-deserved one Michelin star. The four of us enjoyed its tasting menu in its outdoor sitting, a lovely patio in the Viñe…
Hands down one of the best meals of my life. The setting is magical, the food is perfect, the service is personal and flawless, and the price is insanely reasonable for the quality.
What an absolutely incredible experience. Being on the newer side of Valle restaurants, I don’t think they’ve had the recognition they deserve. Everything from the gorgeous courtyard setting, to serv…
Food is good and very pretty but service wasn’t very good. We mentioned when arriving that my gf had a white fish allergy and they told us “yes we saw it in the notes and are aware”. They brought a white fish course to my gf and said it was a “reef fish”. She tried it but her mouth was immediately itchy. We mentioned this to the staff and asked if it was possible to substitute. They took the fish away and ignored the request which I thought was odd for this type of restaurant. It would’ve been nice if they at least had left the fish for someone else to eat. The meal also took almost 3.5 hours (with sometimes 40 minutes between courses). We mentioned we were late for our flight and asked for the check and it took them more than 10 minutes to bring.
Great food and location. Have to give it three stars because the cocktails are offensively small. I paid $15-20 USD for a drink that was less that a single shot in volume. If it wasn't for the ice cube, there would have been less than 1/8" of liquid in the glass. Obscene. Offensive. I then ordered a martini as a backup drink so that I could have something to sip with my dinner. This drink was also half full. No joke. Imagine getting a HALF FULL (small) martini glass! It just looks bizarre. A huge disappointment. I wouldn't be annoyed if the drinks weren't charged at Hollywood prices. Did we forget we're in Mexico?
