Opinions de Bandera Coffee Co. Harlingen
The best coffee in the Valley! Such a good vibe that transitions into a bar at night. Literally the only place we go out!
I didn't try any food but the coffee is good as well as the atmosphere they have a patio in the back where you can chill if u don't want to chill inside very nice energy.
I tried this place the other day. They were very helpful in selecting a drink. If you like coffee give them a try. Inside was very relaxing. Great for sitting and reading a good book.
Really Cute Place..was my first time...Will come again.
i come here often super good n friendly baristas and great tasting coffee. i got a honey lavender latte n it was perfect :) would recommend
We stopped by this place on our way to South Padre Island. Really good iced coffee and kudos for serving the coffee in glassware instead of using disposable cups/straws - more sustainable, healthier and tastes better. They also have a dog friendly patio at the back.
When the guy with glasses and beard works, he sets a mellow mood and brings all your condiments in a tray along with your coffee. Girls who work here, please take note. Also turn down music
Cozy environment with outdoor seating option and some great coffee!
Been a fan of la tormenta for a long time hot or iced depending on the weather! Recently, tried their grapefruit shandy and I’m hooked! Atmosphere is great, big lounge couches would be nice but of course not ideal for covid reasons. consistency, is a big dealbreaker for me, and bandera has been consistent every single time I’ve been there!
The best latte I’ve had. I order decaf with oat milk, and it’s still the smoothest latte I’ve tried. Affordable also, definitely recommend. They also have great music.
Love the vibe of this coffee shop! Not only is the cafe esthetically pleasing, the coffees, teas and cocktails are delicious! You can tell they only use quality ingredients in their baked goods and drinks..
Love the coffee here. If you have a chance to stop by when they offer lunch you’re in for a treat. It was defiantly worth the drive from Mission. My go to coffee place in Harlingen.
Cool atmosphere, hip place, and special twists of coffee drinks.
Great place to relax and enjoy many types of beverages. My favorite is vanilla latte.
My favorite coffee shop in the Valley, and very likely my favorite coffee shop ever. This is literally a cozy mom and pop cafe and the baristas are treated like family. I have been coming to Bandera for a few years and it feels like home. It is a great place to study, meet friends, or have a treat with my kids. There is a standard coffee menu with drip, brew, lattes, etc, but they have some signature drinks that are delicious and a nod to the Valley and our Mexican heritage. They have a delicious champurrado and espresso based Tormenta that make my heart sing. Please check this place out if you love coffee and are in Cameron County. Delicious vegan pastries, chill ambiance, and great music too.
Literally stopped at this place on a whim, and I am SO glad I did. I had no idea what to order, except that it had to be sweet and iced, and the barista recommended an iced latte made with horchata. That was the best coffee drink I’ve had in a long time!! The ambiance was relaxed and trendy. Wish I lived closer, just so I could go again
The environment is very nice. Very chill and welcoming! It was my first time visiting and they were very nice and helpful. My iced coffee didn't need any adjusting, it came out exactly like I like it. I'm going to come back and buy their pins and some post cards. Overall, twas a great experience. 💕💕💕💕💕
I was little skeptical at the beginning but once I saw the guy preparing our pour over and smelling and finally tasting it wow it was perfect.. the Guatemala one was great next time I’ll try the Ethiopian, place was spacious, friendly people, comfy chairs, nice environment and great music... overall I will definitely back
First time there and I loved it! Was a reading cold day and I wanted some coffee, was gonna get my regular at Starbucks, but my husband suggested this spot. It smells amazing when you walk in, super cute spot to have coffee with friends or a quiet place to get some work done. I had the tormenta latte...it was so good! Would totally recommend Bandera Coffee Co. and will definitely come back again💗
Absolutely wonderful coffee shop and a must see! I make sure to stop here every time I visit the Valley. The coffee is thoughtfully sourced, expertly prepared and the shop is very nice inside. They have created a “Coldbrew Shandy” that consists of coldbrew, grapefruit juice and Topo. I was curious when I ordered it and was not disappointed. It was delightful. Staff is always friendly and I can’t wait to come back.
This is my absolute favorite coffee spot in the RGV, newly discovered since moving back in January. Every single person who works here is lovely, the vibes are immaculate, and the espresso is delicious, high quality, and complex. I’ve had cocktails here once, and those are very nice, too (and they were playing Prodigy!). Great place.
It is a unique down to earth coffee shop. It is a very chill place to hang out and grab a great tasting ice-cold Tormenta drink. It even tastes great hot. The cinnamon in it does it for me. There are so many other drinks to choose from. I highly recommend this place.
This place is the most unique and legit coffee place I've ever been. Even when I visit back home on the east coast by NYC and MA area. I crave Bandera! The goth latte is me and boyfriend's go to! I don't know anywhere else that serves a charcoal infused drink and I love it! Also we noticed if you look behind the bar, they have slow drip cold brew which is a mesmerizing old fashion and complex method to ensure the most flavor, caffeine strength brew for your cold brew needs. This place is perfection and the staff are amazing humans! 🥰🫶
The service was wonderful. We were visiting from Brownsville/McAllen and found coffee shop online. My 2 friends and I had coffee made to our liking. Music was great too. Just the right volume so we were able to carry on a conversation. A wonderful experience and find for us. We recommend! ❤️
Excellent coffee, yummy treats, and great atmosphere! The drinks are always delicious and everyone on staff is warm and welcoming. Bandera is one of my favorite places to spend time.
Located next to an amazing restaurant, this coffee place is pretty dang cool. Plenty to choose from, all made from scratch right in front of you. There's nothing my wife has tried that wasn't good. When we're in the area, we try to stop by. The music selection can be pretty diverse. I like that. 5 stars mang!
Honestly one of if not the best coffee joints in the RGV. The roast is excellent, and the minimalist atmosphere inside is really cool. I'm a big fan. Highly recommend! 10/10
By far the best coffee shop around. Between the welcoming atmosphere of the space and staff, to the seriously good drink selections, Bandera is a gem in the valley. They regularly host music and food events in their well-cared for backyard area, as well as brunch every Sunday with Malaquite. You’ll find valley natives there every day of the week, and if you’re a Harlingen local you’ll easily run into many familiar faces at weekend events. I couldn’t rave about Bandera more!
I’ve been here just a couple of times when passing through Harlingen. I’ve had the horchata latte and the one pictured is the Champurrado latte. Both are so good and remind me of my childhood. I love being able to stop here when in town and know I can get a delicious speciality latte.
Cool little place with great espresso. It did feel a little awkward, the staff were reserved and not overly polite, and it was poorly lit (especially in the back), but overall it was kinda cool. I see what they are going for...at least I think I do. Update - we came back and the staff were amazing. We love this place!
I hardly buy coffee but I wanted to try something other than Starbucks so I found this little shop. It's so adorable, it's like stepping into a portal to another dimension. I came here to get away and start reading a new book, it was very dim (which I love) so be sure to bring a book light. The setting was perfect and cappuccino was even better. The Barista helped me decided what drink to get because I'm not to familiar with all these fancy drinks, I'm just used to black coffee and wanted to try something different. Highly recommend.
Great coffee, great atmosphere. Studying here helped me pass my MCAT on the first try. 10/10 recommend. Great local murals & artwork + beautiful food & drink makes it a must for IG. Merch is great, also by local artists, and seems to run on a limited basis so if you're on the fence or just stopping by for the day- definitely buy!
In my opinion the best coffee place in the RGV. Service is great, coffee is delicious and very consistent. Love the variety and seasonal options. Great place, highly recommend!
My husband and I decided to try this place out on a whim. We had lots of questions about the menu, and the staff patiently took the time to answer all of them. I ended up getting a simple iced vanilla latte, which was very good. My husband got the Goth Latte, and it was amazing! Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is neat. Definitely has an Austin-ish vibe. Support small business and check them out yourself!
This is the place for specialty coffee! The Tormenta is my favorite, super tasty and different than what you get at other shops. The atmosphere is great and the baristas are always so nice the past times I’ve visited. I’m from San Antonio but a valley native so I love all the branding they have (956 cups, etc). Makes me want to visit even more! Lol so cute!
I finally had the chance to visit this coffee shop I’d been eyeing, and the experience exceeded expectations. The atmosphere was a perfect 10/10—welcoming, thoughtfully curated, and ideal for relaxing or catching up. I tried the Coffee Miso Banana, which was absolutely delicious and truly stood out for its depth of flavor. You can taste the authenticity in every sip. Overall, an exceptional experience that I’d highly recommend
I went Friday night with my cousins and it was my first time here. First off, let me start by saying I loved the atmosphere. It has a very chill vibe to it. The relaxed ambience of this coffee shop is great and I can see why it's a place people enjoy going to. Second, the staff is amazing. Javi waited on us and provided amazing service. I met the owner as well and he is such a great guy. If you love a good margarita, this is definitely the place to get one. We also ordered some tacos of barbacoa and carnitas and that was amazing as well. So much flavor in the meat. They pack that taco good, too. The corn tortillas are definitely homemade. I will definitely be going back soon to try their coffee. This is definitely a place to support! #supportSmallBusinesses
What a gem! I wish I’d found this place sooner. Had the pour over with oat milk and I’m still thinking about it a week later. The coffee was so flavorful and smooth. Next visit I’m hoping to make it for tacos. I saw they have a vegan avacado taco and I bet it’s delicious.
I'm pretty particular about coffee and coffee shops. This is the best I've been to in Texas, period. The champurrado with a shot of espresso was excellent. If I didn't live in Corpus, I would be spending a lot of time here.
Was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem of a cafe like this. Bandera is a very cool and quaint shop with excellent drinks and late hours. They make their own syrups and you can taste the difference in their drinks. We ordered a Tormenta and a cold brew, both were excellent. I’m looking forward to trying their food. I appreciate that they don’t have loud music and the lighting in the night hours is dimmed and soothing. This is a thoughtful cafe with better quality ingredients and very friendly staff. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a good roaster and wants to support a small business.
A safe space for neurodivergents like myself. A beautiful environment. If you appreciate the negative space this is the place. They have so many drink options. We had the margarita and it was really really really good. I'm not a drinker myself but I would imagine a seasoned person would like it here as well. The servers are really awesome, kind, and empathetic 🫶. Me and my spouse really enjoy it here and will be coming back.. Update 01/31/25: Returning back to my comfortable spot, I would recommend Chile Cayote if you like a "take me to the beach" kind of drink(Tequila Pineapple Dark Cane Sugar) and the Carajillo(Licor 43 Espresso Chocolate) if you like coffee (extreme coffee taste which is something I like, not so bitter if you like bitter like me.) Great ambiance and great music as always. Update 04/05/25: Had some Food from Malaquite recently on a Sunday Brunch. They are a great pop up that goes around. You gotta check on the Bandera Instagram to see when they are here. This place is my favorite go in Harlingen. Lovely people and Great vibes always.
My husband and I have been going here for awhile. Wonderful staff, with a hint of southern hospitality. We've gone for every celebration possible, even valentines day (charcuterie board was to die for)! Their coffee, tea and seasonal drinks are always a pleasure to explore. It's hard finding a small coffee shop that has amazing coffee and staff, glad we found this gem!
Stopped by when looking for a local coffee company while traveling for work. Atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. Service was excellent and hospitable. I asked about a champurrado and after the description was sold. After one sip I was hooked. The champurrado is amazing! Support your local coffee shop stop by today and give them a try.
Walked in after having brunch next door and I was surprised of how nice it was inside. Visiting from Austin, it definitely reminded me of the coffee shop vibes down here. Tried the Tormenta horchata coffee and I can’t wait to go back to try something new. Went to get sweet bread at Lara’s bakery afterwards and even the employee there asked me for the coffee shop name because she said she hadn’t seen the sticker on the cup before and she wanted to try it.
This is a great place for a real cup of coffee. We love strong coffee and we’ve been to many other coffee shop in that area, but this one It’s the best in Harlingen. Friendly servers, the place makes you feel like you were in another time (I don’t know how to explain 🤣) Also this place is not that expensive, We have paid almost nine dollars for a nasty old and without flavor coffee. So we really recommend this spot. If you traveling must stop by, it’s located in Downtown Harlingen.
Cozy coffee shop with low key vibes and friendly baristas. Nice wide open seating area with plenty of tables to sit at, plus a back area with more sitting. Nice decorations and an easy to read menu. Got an oat milk latte, didn’t specify whether I wanted hot or iced, and they gave me iced, which is okay because it was made really well and I’m sure people rarely get hot drinks when it’s so hot out. Overall a great coffee shop experience.
We were visiting Harlingen and visited this place only because it popped up on Google maps. It definitely has a unique vibe. It is an old building that makes me curious as to the history of the place. It seems to have original floors which make it even more distinctive. I ordered a hot mocha and my husband got an iced vanilla latte. Both were delicious. The have a nice pet friendly patio which is a plus for me. Although the place is great, the cherry on top are the friendly staff members.
Great atmosphere. These folks are coffee experts. This is a locally owned family operation. They have obsessed over the entire coffee making process, and gives the customer the delicious results. They can make your coffee however you like and they have got some nice coffee alternatives. They also have local locally made fresh baked goods. Free wifi, and a clean spacious restroom with changing table.
The first time I visited Bandera, their seating area was under construction, so it was nice to walk into the bigger space so thoughtfully curated…down to the roadrunner imprinted on their mugs (should you be staying in the store.) The lighting, the merch, the plants, the table tops are all so lovely! The beverages, however, seemed a little overpriced for the size and the customer service was mid - nothing terrible actually, but I suppose for the stellar coffee shop vibe that you feel walking into the space, the barista’s connection to customers (at least for me) was limited, almost mismatched from the warm, inviting vibe the space put out. Also, there were two pastries in the pastry case (at 10am) and although more pastries did arrive during my visit, it left for wanting when I was ordering my beverage as there initially seemed to be very few options. Would recommend it, but mostly for the esthetic.
First time visiting this coffee shop! Nice experience. Gentlemen who helped us was nice to explain some of the drinks they offer. Tried a seasonal drink LOVED the mango foam. Blue Jasmine Tea was fantastic. *There was a station on the way to the patio and they had Tortas. Nice experience! Will definitely recommend everyone to give it a try and support local businesses.
Loved the ambiance of the place, was stoked to try this place out since I was visiting from out of town. Sadly my drinks tasted water town, the coffee art was nice and the pastry’s.
Great new coffee shop in downtown Harlingen. Friendly staff good coffee. Review 2024 Had not tried for long while; new look to place just felt empty all white. Still feels way more like a coffee shop than a place to have a cocktail. Tried an old fashion not impressed with ice used drink itself was okay. Coffee is still good.
Came from out of town and wanted to try this place. Coffee was good but customer service was poor. The staff was not very friendly, welcoming, or inviting; monotone expressions and vocal delivery that came across as attitude. Our guests with us felt the same. People skills and customer satisfaction is a must to maintain customers. For the staff to excel in these areas, training should be required and a priority.
Never has issues until the last 3 Wednesdays, female with dark hair and glasses, extremely rude, cold, taking our order was a complete inconvenience for her. No communication what so ever. Wouldn’t hand us our drinks put them in the glass mirror and walked off while we were standing at the counter. Even my 7 year old daughter asked why is she so rude…. She at age 7, could pick up on her nonverbal Communication. We have violin across the street every Wednesday, we will no longer Visit, as we are not welcome. Something is seriously wrong with her attitude.
Bandera is definitely up there with coffee houses I have visited in cities like San Francisco Madrid, and even Los Angeles where I used to live for 25 years. The coffee is some of the best. The look of it is quite inviting. Everything is great except for one thing They let whoever is working at the register play whatever music they like and as a result at least 50% of the time or more it’s some young guy that plays heavy metal with people screaming as if they are summoning dark demons from the nether regions. I love all kinds of music but not literal screaming at a high decibel volume when I’m trying to do work on my laptop. When I talked to the person at the register, they said well people don’t complain, but I bet if you took a survey more than half would ask for something a little bit more relaxed. So if you’re deaf or have an expensive pair of beats headphones then I guess this is your place.
I would probably come here everyday if the staff were to provide better customer service. Also feel the energy get worse when I hit the no tip option the barista had me put my own lid on my coffees 😂 * ok then I’ll just greet myself out too. No ,sense in leaving a 20% tip on $12 dollar coffees for $2.20 tip for them to be rude to me and me struggled to open the door by myself with two coffees.. no thanks. I tip well at restaurants, food delivery, but find it uncomfortable, unnecessary, and get an entitlement attitude from the baristas. They need to improve on customer service and, exclude the tipping option. I worked at restaurants before without a tip option. Think it created a better service for customers because I had to be nice regardless and, my mood would stay the same towards my customers. I think a lot of places are doing the tip option and it’s really making the workers ONLY be nice and provide customer service if they’re getting something extra out of it… which in return only hurts the business.
I wish I could’ve tried a drink… they are too busy being wannabe hipsters. The place look very sad as well.
I live in McAllen, TX and came all the way to Harlingen to try their coffee because a friend recommended it to me. Needless to say, the kids working there have no sense of hospitality or customer service. They’re annoyed for taking your order, annoyed when you dine in, etc…I gave them a second chance and again, they were unfriendly and irritated. I work in customer service/retail so I know what it feels like. However, don’t be rude to your customers simply because you’re unhappy to be there. Unfortunately, I’m not the only one that feels this way about Bandera. Love their aesthetic but their customer service is the worst.
We are die heart Soverign Coffee fans, but decided to try something different. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The espresso shot was bitter and tasted like the machine wasn’t dialed in properly. The tormenta drink which is one that fans rave about was not even drinkable. Do not try it!
