This is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant on Long Island—no competition. The classic Chinese-style decor makes me feel as if I’ve traveled back in time to another era. The owner has incredible taste; the artwork and decorative pieces throughout the restaurant are truly worth stopping to admire. Every dish here is like a piece of art—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. If you’re not sure what to order, just go down the menu in order. Trust me, every single dish is worth trying. Oh, and don’t leave without trying the Eight Treasure Rice—I can confidently say it’s the best I’ve ever had.
This restaurant is absolutely stunning inside, with architecture and artwork that make you feel immersed in Chinese culture from the moment you walk in. The food is excellent, and the vegetables were cooked so perfectly soft and flavorful that I had to double check what I was eating. The mix of Chinese and American guests created a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for me and my friend, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and accommodating.
We love this place. A nice Chinese restaurant to go to. The food is really good. There are plenty of choices in their menu. The places are nice, very artistic, and clean. Plus the service is very good. The nice lady who assisted us did what needed to be done. We will surely come back for more.
I rarely leave reviews on Google because everyone has different tastes. But the service at this restaurant truly deserves praise—it’s comparable to a five-star establishment. We usually come here for lunch, and occasionally for dinner. Tonight, one of the dishes wasn’t quite perfect, but the way the restaurant handled it was excellent. They told us we wouldn’t be charged for it and were very sincere in their explanation. However, we’re not the kind of people who take advantage of situations, so we included the cost of the dish in our tip for the server. There are plenty of great places to eat in New York, but very few offer such thoughtful and genuine service. Sometimes, it’s not just about the food—it’s about the warmth and connection. Thank you for making us feel that.
Pretty decoration. Very clean. Staff are super friendly, Vera, Ticha, and Hahng Yi were very attentive, sweet, and polite, and the service was of high quality service We went for lunch specials, plus we ordered wasabi walnut shrimp, bubble pan cake. The prices were good, the food was delicious, with authentic Chinese stir-fried aromatic, not greasy, with nice presentation. Definitely will come back for dinner again.
The duck fried rice, sesame chicken, and the two variety of dumplings we tried were literally the best. Especially the dumplings I never had so much flavor in dumplings anywhere else. Also the workers were all super nice 👍
O Yes! O Mandarin! On Sunday night, we went to one of Long Island’s best Chinese restaurants, I’m talking about O Mandarin! There are many Chinese takeout and restaurants to choose from, but many are really sub par or just fair ( ok, don’t start piling on, I know there are some good ones too). But for us, O Mandarin offers a beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu that offers both traditional favorites with a selection of more authentic options. It’s for these reasons , it’s our favorite. We started with some hot & sour soup 🥣 which was thick and loaded with veggies 🥗 & tofu. The scallion bubble 🫧 pancake 🥞 is unique and delicious. It’s like an airy pillow. Just tear off a piece and dip it in the red curry 🍛 sauce and you will know why this is so different from other places flat style. We tried the crispy shiitake mushrooms 🍄🟫 which was new for us. a light, delicate flavor dusted with cumin and chili 🌶️ with lots of crunch. For our main dishes 🍽️ we had the Thousand Layer Tofu, Yu Xiang Chicken 🐔 , and the Wild Pepper 🫑 Beef! Each had its own unique flavor and texture. We loved 🥰 all 3! The Thousand Layer Tofu features: a mix of Pork Belly, Jalapeño 🌶️ , Red Bell 🔔 Pepper , Chinese Celery 🥬 all in a light sauce. The tofu is like folded napkins , not cubes which I really enjoyed. The Yu Xiang Chicken 🐓 is a blend of shredded chicken🐔 , 🧅 strips, Bamboo shoots, Bell Pepper 🫑 , & Mushroom 🍄🟫 in a Spicy 🌶️ Garlic 🧄 Sauce. A refreshing dish with a touch of heat 🔥. The Wild Pepper 🌶️ Beef 🥩 was a treat. Bell 🔔 Peppers 🫑 | Jalapeño 🌶️ | Basil 🌿 | Onion 🧅 in a silky Brown Pepper Sauce. Full of flavor! And all throughout our meal we sipped our delicious Jasmine Green Tea 🍵 ! Made with fresh tea 🍵 leaves 🍃. So tasty and aromatic! For great Chinese cooking, take a visit to O Mandarin. It’s worth the trip! 600 Old Country Rd., Hicksville, NY ( just off the wantagh pkwy). Go and enjoy! 😊
The interior is slightly dark and serene, reminiscent of a temple. It's a perfect restaurant for family gatherings, and it's also a perfect space for anyone to enjoy a cozy meal and conversation. I was also deeply impressed by the kindness and attentiveness of the female server (Ms. Michi), who constantly assisted guests to ensure a comfortable dining experience. The wonton soup was made with chicken. Unlike beef, it had a slightly stronger fishy flavor. The peckling duck was well-cooked, resulting in a savory and tender meat. The well-cooked wheat bread was spread out, topped with the restaurant's signature sweet sauce, cucumber, and green onions, then the bread was folded into small pieces and placed in my mouth. It was a delicious combination of savory, salty, and savory flavors. To experience a variety of dishes, I ordered half a duck, and it was more than enough. For your information, Beijing Duck is also known as Peking Duck. In the 1800s, the British Embassy referred to Beijing as "Pek," and that became the international designation. Therefore, the English name for Peking University is also "Pek University," and the international code for Beijing Airport is PEK. We ordered Mapo Tofu, a spicy and numbing dish made with Sichuan-style mala sauce. It's a Sichuan dish made by cooking minced pork, soy sauce, chili oil, and mala sauce with tofu. The signature mala sauce of Sichuan cuisine infused the tofu with a rich flavor, and the spiciness and nutty notes combined to create a deep and complex taste. It started off numbing, then savory, and finally, a subtle flavor lingered in my mouth. The numbing and spiciness of the Mapo Tofu blended with the rice, acting as a buffer between the flavors, making the meal even more flavorful when eaten with rice. For reference, Sichuan refers to the inland regions of China, including Sichuan Province, Chengdu, Chongqing, and nearby areas. Its most distinctive characteristic is its spiciness, represented by the numbing heat of ma (麻) from chili peppers and the pungent heat of la (辣) from chili peppers. These two are collectively known as mala (spicy). Sichuan locals also have a strong preference for spiciness. While Cantonese cuisine in southern China dominates the high-end culinary market, Sichuan cuisine enjoys widespread popularity in China. Mala Xiang Guo, a stir-fry of various vegetables and meats in mala sauce, is a common home-cooked dish enjoyed locally. Other dishes include mapo tofu, fish sauce, and hot pot, making it a popular choice for casual dining or as a side dish. Yangzhou fried rice features well-cooked rice, shrimp, and green onions, perfectly sautéed in a wok, creating a harmonious blend of savory and smoky flavors. Roasting the green onions enhances their savory flavor and aroma, and the dish is carefully prepared to prevent them from burning or being undercooked. Yangzhou chao-fan, or Yangzhou fried rice, is a classic Chinese dish made with shrimp and green onions. It is said to have originated in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, during the Qing Dynasty. It later spread throughout China through immigrants. As Cantonese cuisine gained international popularity, Yangzhou chao-fan was also introduced as a Cantonese dish. In China, a chef's skill is often judged by the quality of his or her fried rice. This is because, while it employs the fundamental techniques of Chinese cuisine, from preparing the ingredients to stir-frying, the ingredients are often mixed and matched, leaving a limited range of leftovers. Furthermore, the flavor can vary greatly depending on the care and attention paid to the ingredients, which can vary from day to day. The skill with which one handles the fire can significantly impact the flavor, often referred to as a battle with fire. Therefore, skilled Chinese chefs prioritize high-heat, rapid stir-frying. This process, with its intense heat, ignites the oil, creating a delicate yet crispy rice. Finally, We ordered the Soy Braised Short Ribs. This dish features short ribs in a savory soy sauce that comes with peking duck.
The food was served in one second after placing an order. It was so fast! And the taste was good too.
So my wife and I came here a few days ago. When we walked in I knew the food was going to be good because of how many people of Asian descent were eating there. The place is beautiful and the service is great. All the food we ordered was delicious and I mean everything. Tea smoked Duck fried rice is a must!!!! We got general tso chicken and shrimp and scallops as well. We also ordered the tea smoked chicken wings. We will definitely be making this our new Asian spot!!!
Came here on a Friday night for date-night. The food was delicious. It tasted delicious and different. I really enjoyed everything and it was super tasty. The server was awesome as well. Loved the indoor ambience. Very nice for a birthday or meeting or anything else. Would highly Recommend.
A great restaurant!! The ambience, decoration, food and service was 5/5. They just need the ice cream back and would be perfect! Our fried rice was so delicious and the drinks too! Thank you guys and keep the good work!
First time to O Mandarin which was absolutely great! The decor was awesome, the food was exquisite & the service was great! The menu covered a wide variety of meats, seafood & veggie options. The black sesame colada was awesome! We had a mixed combo fried rice, sesame chicken, scallion pepper beef & scallion peeper shrimp! My friends loved everything as it was tasty & delicious. I will definitely be back with a bigger crew of friends! Check out my pics of food & video of decor at this super nice spot!
To be very honest, my expectations were very low when I didn’t see too many Asian customers in the restaurant…but now I can confidently say this is by far the best Chinese restaurant I had in Long Island. Food is awesome and the service is great. I would definitely come again!
Finding a spot is easy thanks to plentiful parking shared with the Eco Lodge next door. When it comes to food, this restaurant offers a more authentic and higher quality experience than many other so-called "Chinese" eateries in the area. The ambiance transports you, with a very traditional Chinese feel that's almost cinematic. Don't miss the Chili Oil Beef Stew – it’s exceptionally good, offering rich flavor without overwhelming spice. (Just a tip for newcomers: go easy on adding the chili oil to your rice to prevent an upset stomach!) To complement your meal, the bar provides an extensive and well-stocked selection of beverages.
Traditional Chinese home style fine and high end restaurant. You are eating as if you are invited to a big traditional Chinese family house. The decoration is unique and immersive. Service is awesome. I like the fish and lotus with sticky rice. I especially love the bowls and plates which are artistic and beautiful. I feel really happy and satisfied eating here. The food tastes fresh and delicious. Not too oily or salty. It also has Chinese traditional round table which is super good for 2-3 families to celebrate special occasions.
Upscale restaurant with Asian Charm. I went on a Friday at 11:45. There were some diners seated. The restaurant is large but divided into sections. This makes it more intimate. The tableware was very pretty and not a chip or scratch in site. We ordered the soup dumplings, Uyghur Style Chicken Stew (also called Big Plate Chicken in China) and Soy Braised Short Ribs. The stew was made with the neck, feet, and back bone of the chicken. There was a piece of the drumstick and wing in the stew also. There was a lot of flavor in these parts but I would have liked more meat. The noodles were thick and delightfully chewy. There was at least two bulbs of garlic used. It was spicy but not to bad. The short ribs were fall off the bone. It was not salty because the sweetness of the red wine offset the soy. Portions were large. You know they are high end when their take home doggie bag is insulated. Prices are high but it's a good place for a special dinner or celebration.
We have been waiting for this place to open since a year! We went there for dinner last night and loved the food and the service. The Dan Dan noodles were out of this world! The ambience is great , the vibe is perfect the staff is amazing! TONY the manager is really helpful always checking on you and checking if everything is going smooth. Jenny served us and she was great , even though they were busy she made sure to keep coming to the table and if she didn’t have time in passing would come and let you know that she is aware we are waiting, very alert very hospitable. From the apps to the mains everything was outstanding! Cannot wait to come back with all my friends and family!
Came in with my family for an early dinner. This place was authentic in food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely be returning! Even the kids loved their meals, which is really impressive. We had chicken chao mein, twiced cooked pork belly w/ white rice, basil Sichuan chicken w/ white rice, soup dumplings (not pictured) and vegetable dumplings. Everything was hot, fresh and authentic in taste. I would recommend everything but to be honest we did not like the vege dumplings. They were a little more tangy/sour for us but we enjoyed trying them none-the-less. And my daughter was put off by the green skin on the dumplings. I cannot wait to come again and try all new dishes!
After seeing the article in Newsday online we put this restaurant on our radar. We drove 40 minutes to get here and we were very happy we did. The restaurant is large. The dining rooms are partitioned and very cozy and decorated with beautiful wood and stone. You can immediately sense they spent a lot of money on this restaurant. We started with Pork Dumplings, Fresh Spinach & Clams and wild mushroom & Riblet soup. All three were excellent. I’ve never had spinach and clams together but they were delicious with the hint of wasabi sesame oil. For entrees we ordered the Tea Smoked Duck and the General Tso’s chicken (For many years IMO the best General Tso’s was at Eastern Pavilion in Setauket but it has declined) I had to give this dish a try and was not disappointed. The duck was cooked perfect and you could taste the fruity yet subtle tea aroma in every bite. We enjoyed a pot of Crysanthemum tea as they are waiting for their liquor license to arrive. I can’t wait to return and try other dishes and reorder the duck with some red wine. The staff and service were excellent. Best of luck to O Mandarin!
Second time visiting this restaurant. Came with my family for a graduation lunch. We were very early, but they were accommodating. The service was great and the food was delish. They are family style so we ordered several dishes to share. The drinks were well made. Will definitely visit again!
This is our go-to for Peking Duck after Elaine’s closed. Love that their crepes for the duck are thin and small. We also enjoy the bubble scallion pancake and soup. Service is very attentive each of the 4 times we have dined here.
So happy there’s finally an authentic Chinese restaurant with the best ambiance to match it. I wish I took more pictures of the food but I was too busy stuffing myself. They also have small private rooms and during warmer weather, they have outdoor seating in their garden. The owner spared no expense in the design of this place; even the brick walls are old authentic walls from Shanxi. The waiters can speak both Chinese and English, so it is convenient for all people. I would come here all the time if I could. They 100% deserve that Michelin guide.
We ordered take out a few times form here, but thoroughly enjoyed our sit down to celebrate my daughter. The Goff was delicious, generous portions, and plenty of left overs! 👏🏽👏🏽
Authentic Asian cuisine just right in Hicksville. I would say one and only place for authentic Asian food on Long Island. Food is cooked to the perfection and deliciously flavorful. We ordered dumplings. Dan Dan noodles was love. It’s so good that you must try. Tofu with mushrooms and bamboo shoots was so fresh and tender. Cocktails are crafted by professional. Best one on the menu is black sesame colada. You have to have it. We also got bikini tini, U & Me. Those were just amazing. I would appreciate the staff, services and hospitality. They also have fresh water fish and king crab just in case you’re in the mood for some fresh seafood.
Wife was starving as we reached our roadtrip destination so I let her choose the restaurant. She loves Asian and was delighted to find this nearby, well rated, and offering authentic Chinese. Wife is one of those that likes to eat a fish with the head still on. The surrounding area felt a little iffy but parking on site was easy and once inside the door we were transported to a beautiful oasis with friendly faces (on the way out we discovered a lovely patio). It was about 5pm, early for a friday night so there was abundant seating. It is laid out to have the feel of wide spaces and intimate nooks, somehow good for both romance and family. We were led to the furthest space, with skylights and dark wood and cloth, occupied with a senior couple and another family since we had our 11 year old with us. The menu included a spectrum from authentic Chinese my wife loves to the sesame chicken my kid and I enjoy. The price point range allowed for the splurge and the frugal to both enjoy a bite. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, skillfully prepared and presented beautifully. Yeji took good care of us. She must have e.s.p. (or great customer service skills), perfect timing for ordering, appearing to inquire on spice levels and sweetness levels, refill water, offer to refresh tea, furnishing an extra chopstick for the kid the instant one sprung free and rolled to the floor. Our waitress noticed my wife was still trying to enjoy her meal as our daughter had eaten her fill of chicken and asked us in secret adult hints and glances if ice cream was okay. (Very much appreciated as we do limit sweets) We agreed and The Kid was offered a scoop of vanilla or green tea ice cream. It was "like whipped cream but cold and better". Yeji noticed my wife's pleasure in the tea and packed her a refreshed pot in a to-go container along with the remainder of our meal. Be aware they do not take Discover but other credit cards are okay. Looking for excuses to return to the area and this restaurant.
We treated some friends to lunch here as a wedding gift...we couldn't have picked a better place!!! We'd studied the menu beforehand, so we sorta knew what we were getting into, but nothing prepared us the the actual flavour of the food!!! First class service just added to the whole experience...BRAVO!!! My wife and I Will be returning soon...minus our guests!!! Not cheap by any means, but oh my gosh, you DEFINITELY get what you pay for: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Great Chinese restaurant. Food was on point and tasty and the ambiance was lovely. My son and I got a great almost private table and tried many items from the truffle chicken soup dumplings and fried mushrooms to their lamb specialty and dan dan noodles. Everything was great and my 2 favorites were the dan dan beef noodles and the truffle chicken soup dumplings. Would definitely visit again when in the area. Service was great, when we asked for a physical menu vs their iPad it took the server just a few seconds to rush a physical menu over to us (the iPad is difficult to navigate the menu to be honest) so they very very accommodating. Had a wonderful evening here.
A pearl found on Long Island. The name of the restaurant is a garden in a royal palace, and the atmosphere and food truly reflect its name. I wish I could have tried more dishes...but we were full. I'll definitely be back, and I'm glad I discovered this restaurant.
Nice looking restaurant. Service was really good. Attentive. The food was 3.8. The dam dam noodles were a little salty for my taste but the duck fried rice made up for it. Lychee martini must be the first real martini I ever had. Pretty strong. Not sure if i liked it enough to go back.
Courteous welcome, awesome ambience, friendly waitress, timely service, spice level of chili chicken was perfect to the taste buds, fried rice with shrimp tasted great, eggplant dish was just below high expectations. A bit pricey but worth it for the overall experience. Will return back to try out some of the other food items.
Food was good, atmosphere was exquisite, nice and open area inside. Food came out quick and the food was good but I feel for the price wasn’t worth it. This place is pricy. Better to come here to a birthday, anniversary, celebration. Bill came out to be $83. Everything was great just a tad pricy in my opinion.
Food is good just a little big oily! But a perfect space for friends and family gathering
You get what you pay for. Quality, quantity, it's worth everything about this place. You're not going here for chicken and broccoli, it's not your American Chinese food, it's the real deal, it's authentic and it's amazing! You enter this place with a happy welcome from the staff. You see the beautiful bar and then walk past the fish tanks, but these are not your typical tanks for display. These are your fresh fish tanks. As I said you get what you pay for and fresh is what you get when you order the fresh fish of the day or the king crab legs. You want frog legs well you can have frog legs, and yes they taste like chicken!!! Peking duck, they have it. Dan Dan noodles, oh yea they have that Lamb and scallions with buns, yup got them too.
We had a wonderful time on our most recent visit to O Mandarin at Hicksville, Long Island. We've visited this establishment a few times since its inception. On our recent visit, the restaurant was very accommodating with our large group. The food is always great, and the service always prompt. I would be remiss if not to mention the ambiance. It is just as tasteful as the food. To note, apparently, O Mandarin is one of two of same named restaurants from the same chef/owner. The other location is at Westchester.
We did reservation for 4 on a Friday night for dinner. The place is beautiful and decor makes you feeling like you just been transpoted to mainland China. The resturant was packed and you see fresh seafood in water tanks adjacent to the bar. We ordered a few appetizers and picked a few mains to share family style. Majority of the appetizers were very tasty and service is super fast. We also ordered some cocktails but not impressed with their mixology services. The main dishes were just ok nothing spectacular. The tea smoked duck was very high in sodium and we told our waiter and he said he can't do anything for us and recommend us to dip it in the side sauce to balance the salt. We also ordered frog legs and it was a stew with few pieces of frog, tasted like chicken but not a "wow" dish. The shrimp dishes were very fresh and seasoned perfectly. Overall it is a good place but you really have to know what to order from the menu. We scoped a few Asian family's table and they had nothing close to what we ordered and probably knew the menu better. We are going to try again and see next time we hit the jackpot on the main dishes so we really have a better dining experience.
The restaurant is very nice, definitely the more fancy Chinese restaurant. The service is also good. Reservation is recommended. But somehow I am a bit disappointed by some of the food (e.g. sticky rice stuffed lotus root). I wonder whether it’s just a taste issue (this place feel more like a northern food place. Some dishes were prepared differently in south China). Still, slightly disappointed.
Very cool vibe and interesting decor. Excellent service. Pui was the perfect server. She was extremely helpful, pleasant and excellentatherjob. The food was good with interesting flavors. The scallion pancakes were excellent as well as the ribs, dumplings and orange beef. Overall, it was a very nice dining experience.
Beautiful restaurant, the service is fast and the drink are great!!
The frog legs and chongqing chicken was surprisingly pretty good, but the portion is quite small for the price that they’re charging. The lamb was a little too salty, no sauce and the buns were not fresh. Will be back to try their other dishes.
Well decorated place for some delicate Chinese dishes. A bit pricy considering the size of each plate. Must-try: Thousand Layer Tofu 干锅千叶豆腐 Recommendation: Jianghu Fried Rice Thousands later tofu 干锅千叶豆腐 is very delicious. The tofu absorbs the sauce hence the flavor is rich and full. Jianghu friend rice is recommended by my friend. She said the fried rice has a smoky flavor from the pot. Two dishes that I would recommend to not order: fried mushrooms 酥炸鲜蘑 and pine nut fish 松子鱼. The flour coat of fried mushrooms is too thick. I can barely taste the mushroom inside. My complaint regarding pine nut fish is not for the taste but for the size of fish. Probably because the fish is small that they cannot fry it longer, the fish itself is fragile. When I use chopsticks to grab some fish meat, they break into small pieces easily. The other dishes are ok. Men Ding park bun 门钉肉饼 is juicy and it has soup inside it. However the sauce is quite sweet. My friend invites me here for the Yu Xiang eggplant. Personally the garlic taste is a bit strong for me. For mushroom and chicken 走地鸡炖蘑菇 , the taste could be better if they have a more flavorable mushroom. Parking: they have their own parking lot. Location: < 10 mins to IKEA
This place has been open for less than 1 Year. Came here on a Saturday night 7:45pm Reservation for 4 people. The place is very nice looking with great Asian theme decoration. The restaurant is big and has several areas for many patrons. Based on the appearance you’d think the food would not be good. But the food is actually really good. Clean facilities. Credit cards are accepted. The servers are nice, But they were extremely understaffed. Especially for weekend dinner service. They are busing the tables and taking orders. They were not able to change our plates to clean ones as the entrees came out. We couldn’t even order dessert due the long wait after we finished eating. I actually felt sorry for them. A beautiful restaurant with good food. They Charge for Tea Also. We would like to come back and give this place another try.
The decor and feel of the place is very nice and the service is fast and responsive. The portions are very small for that price and surprisingly ordering a full Peking duck looked like it was missing the two legs (given they replace two of the wing drums on the plates) the service is attentive and friendly. What was amazing was they have a full section tailored bar area, but their drinks were extremely watered down. The worst part was when we asked the waiter that all of our drinks were really tasteless, they took back the original glasses, added a drop of alcohol in the same original glass (we know it's the original glass because the glasses have our mouths smudges) then brought back the same glass to our table. The food was relatively common, but the lamb and pork hock was very tasty (again for what you are paying is quite a small portion)
It's a very unique restaurant indeed with better then normal chinese food when it comes to flavor and authenticity. Some flavors were still questionable while some others were absolutely spot on and delicious! Service wise may need some work. We waited a whole hour after being seated before we all got water and our orders were taken. Perhaps they were just short handed that Saturday night...
Nice decor and good service. A few dishes are overly salty. The spare rib soup is tasteless (and cold bec we didn't drink it immediately...). The pea shoots 豆苗 veggie is tender, and yummy. The wine glass is on the heavy side. A friend paid for the meal. I think the bill came at about $200 (three adults and three kids) and he probably added 10% for the tip. The waiting staff came to ask ... and he added more, to 15%. 10% is low, according to the unwritten rule. But, tip is a tip, I don't think the staff should confront anyone over it. I felt the service was adequate - I prefer not to be bothered. But he may not like it that way, and feeling being under served. The staff could have helped us with the soup, for example. It sat there for a long time...
Excellent decor like everyone said. Service was great. Taste was not as good as it looks. Definitely overpriced for the portion and could probably improve rating by decreasing price or increase in portion. I will come again next time to see if there are any changes because overall I enjoyed it.
O mandarin has such a beautiful establishment, service was great! The server definitely gave us some of her best recommendations. My family and I really enjoyed the spicy wontons and the jasmine chicken wings. We did order a couple of other items but we believed that the flavor of the food did not meet our expectations. Our fried rice, truffle dumplings and beef were just very bland. The spice was there but the flavor was not.
My husband and I have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years and have always loved both the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, our most recent visit left us truly disappointed. We decided to try something new, the Scallion Pepper Beef, which sounded delicious on the menu. However, what we received was completely different from what we expected. The dish was dominated by a strong curry or cumin flavor that wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the description, making it impossible to enjoy. When we shared our concern with the staff, hoping for some understanding or even a small gesture of goodwill, the manager’s response made the situation worse. Instead of showing empathy, he told us that there had been about 8 orders of the same dish earlier that day and that no one else had complained. While we understand that tastes can vary, this came across more as an excuse than an attempt to resolve the issue, and we were still left without an resolution, refund, or any effort to make things right. As long-time regulars who’ve always supported and recommended this restaurant, it’s genuinely disheartening to be treated this way. Sadly, after this experience, it’s hard to see ourselves returning.
I brought my own bottle of liquor worth $100, and they charged an outrageous $50 corkage fee. That’s completely unreasonable. On top of that, the service was mediocre at best. Definitely not coming back.
