The food was great, the staff was friendly. I recommend it for sure. A few friends and I got there around 11 am and it was packed. Be prepared to wait a few minutes. I got the french toast with scrambled eggs and a coffee. Very please with the quality and taste. My friend got the enchiladas breakfast. I tries those and they were good as well. Overall experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Small town feel, small town prices, nothing small about their portions. I enjoyed this gem of hollister for breakfast with the family. Waitress was quick and attentive. I ordered the big boy for my big appetite and I couldn't finish. I love this place
This was our first visit to Hollister CA. We went to breakfast here. Servers were very nice and welcoming. The food took a while but it was so worth it! It was delicious and hearty. There’s lots to look at around the cafe walls and tables so waiting wasn’t a big deal. They were super busy but still accommodating. Coffee was always available and served. Highly recommend for a small town feel.
Great food. Friendly faces
Good hearty diner food. We were sat immediately but I can see how this place can get busy on a weekend morning. The service was quick and the food came out hot and tasty. Prices were good. I'll go back next time I visit Pinnacles.
This place is amazing!! Wonderful FRIENDLY service Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had (mostly bcz of the biscuits. The gravy was standard but had no sausage chunks which I appreciated) The biscuit was by far the BEST. So soft and fluffy. Not dense and hard like most places!
Great little find while we were traveling. Food was good, service was good, we would definitely come back.
It was a really great experience eating at this restaurant. Carolynn was our server and she was amazing. She was super knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating to my party's dietary restrictions. The atmosphere was welcoming! Definitely a great place to eat in Hollister!
Great food and service. So cute inside and a definite place to go when in Hollister.
Got there and waited 30 minutes for a table. Let me tell you, worth the wait! Food was amazing. The waitress was very friendly and kept walking by checking up on my coffee fill. They have the most perfect country potatoes! If you go here and see a line, put your name down and wait. Trust me! 👍
The experience at Rose's Cafe was one of the best my husband and I have had. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff was happy, helpful and just down right nice. Can't recommend Rose's Cafe enough.
Ordered to go with my boyfriend, and everyone knows they're bottomless pits. He had to take a second to breathe twice. And he's saving the rest for later. Immaculate taste. He got the super brakefast burrito. I got the brakefast enchiladas. 10/10 recommend
Country Rose has been a favorite of our family for 25 years. The food is always fresh and tasty, the servers are cheerful and friendly, and the entire staff does a fantastic job making you feel welcomed. Highly recommend!
Breakfast enchiladas with chorizo and home fries were very good and the plate was huge.
Our waitress was so helpful everybody was so wonderful and polite we had a wonderful party thank you my mom was so ecstatic she loves your restaurant that's why we went there for her breakfast brunch on her birthday I want to say thank you again Janet our waiter I don't know anybody else's name but thank you all so very much my mom was happy so what are we the mimosas were great
Best place..food is top notch..so yummy
Excellent servers and food is always good
Good comfort food and a friendly atmosphere
We had 4 people with us . The food ,coffee and service was great
We found this place by accident. It did not disappoint. If you go, please try the home fries with the garlic sauce. They were absolutely delectable. All of the food was. The servers were so unbelievably nice.
My cousin and I ate here today and were very happy with the food and service. She had a big salad she said was really good and I had scrambled eggs over potatoes and veggies, which also was very good. Best breakfast place in Hollister!
Food was amazing and the staff was terrific.
Exceptional customer service and the food was delicious. It is a local favorite and everyone but me knew each other by name...lol. The service was super fast and my coffee cup was always full.
I meant two friends from out of town at the restaurant about 12:30 p.m. . The restaurant was moderately busy My friends had arrived a few minutes earlier than I did and already secured a table I sat down and almost immediately was greeted by our waitress who had already greeted my two friends. She was very courteous pleasant and professional the service was very very good. She explained questions that we have displaying complete knowledge of the menu. We completed our orders and the food arrived shortly thereafter. Through conversation at the table it was apparent that the food was of good quality and arrived as we had ordered. For example we ordered for salad dressing on the side and the correct salad dressing was in fact on the side crispy fries were asked for and crispy fries were received. Busboys were readily available to clear the table of used dishes and utensils and also made themselves available for extra water or coffee. The waitress checked during the course of our lunch to see if there was anything we needed and to check on the quality of food. I come from a restaurant family and I can attest that the quality of service the quality of food rates and A +. Believe me if it was lousy I'd certainly indicate it was lousy.. but these people deserve an A+. Yes I would highly recommend revisiting or visiting this restaurant.
Went after my schools Senior Sunrise and was super good. The place was packed by the time we got there but the food came out really fast. Not a good environment if you don’t like noise or a busy environment it has a nice theme though. The French toast was kind of dry but it had a good taste.
A wonderful place for breakfast. Staff is absolutely great. Food is good very comfortable attitude and pleasant environment. Thank you to the service.
BEST BREAKFAST EVER. I cannot understand how good the food was at this place.
OMG! How have I not been here before! Went with a work crew of 10 people and the service was spot on! The atmosphere is cozy, but sitting by the windows is definitely not comfortable with the shades down. Aside from that, service was quick, friendly, a team effort and the food...just go! I can't put it into words! I'll be taking my mother there this weekend! It's worth the 45 minutes drive...and those on bikes...definitely ride 2 up and take your partner! 5 stars all around! Thank you Country Rose!
It was incredibly busy for a Tuesday morning which made the servers a little unavailable. That being said, a lot of seating option so the wait time was not long. Coffee was fresh. The country potatoes were delicious!! So good. Food was overall great. And prices were very reasonable. Will be coming back again. :)
I have come here a handful of times. I love the aesthetics of the restaurant, the staff are friendly and attentive. All of the workers check on you. I've only eaten here during breakfast, I get the usual, either the pancake or French toast combo or a breakfast burrito. I love it. 10/10, I recommend.
Great service and wonderful and tasty meal! Had the classic fluffy AF pancakes with over medium eggs, sausage and hubby shared his hash browns. Had leftover pancakes which made a yummy meal later! I would rather enjoy the meal with my taste buds and not my camera lens.😂 (Forgot to take pictures for the review)
Always great. Coffee is kept full and service by all staff has always been good.
Really helpful and friendly staff, decent coffee and really good breakfasts!! It seemed like every aspect of the option was changeable, I had “Rose’s Melt” but changed ham for jalapeños and toast for flour tortillas. Enormous portions and the homemade salsa is fantastic! I’d come back without question
Nice place with a cozy vibe and friendly service. The eggs Benedict and omelette were delicious - fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly
My favorite place to eat breakfast when I'm home visiting my family. I grew up in Hollister and this place shows you what it's like to grow up in a small town. We know the staff and they know my family and always welcome us with big smiles and warm welcomes. The scrambles are delish, the waffles are fluffy just like I love them and the coffee never stops being poured. Great for groups, and especially for families. Love Country 🌹.
First time there. Loved it. We will be a repeat customers
Perfect breakfast here! I didn't even realize this type of diner existed in the central coast, but was thrilled that it does. We shared a scramble and an order of the pancakes, which was more than enough for us! The staff was friendly, and we were seated quickly. Definitely recommended!
Friendly staff an awesome big platefuls of sausages and scrambled eggs with potatoes and toast. We came back another day and I had a fabulous omelette with sausage and cheese. Would 100% recommend!
I would give the servers a better review but thats not an option so they got a great tip instead. I love how quickly I was seated, my order was taken and my food was brought to me with a smile. Everyone was pleasant and attentive!! Way to go. A must for one and all!
This place has always had amazing breakfast, and their mimosas are absolutely delicious. I’ve been coming here for well over 20 years, even back when they were on 4th Street. The staff is great—friendly, attentive, and they always make you feel welcome. Highly recommended!- the wait is always well worth it
We eat here every week. Its a must! The food is always great. The calamari steak is sooooo good! Everytime its cooked perfectly. The weekend mornings are my favorite. Get there early. The lady's working are on point!Always smiling and making me feel the love.Oh and it's not fake. They rock.
The food is always ready fast and always as good as the last time! I go every Saturday and Sunday at 7.oo a.m.The service is great. I mean Great! As soon as I walk in the door I can tell that I am noticed and a menu and a cup of hot coffee is on its way.I don't know how the crew does it.Always cheerful and attentive.I would call out one as the best. But they all rock.If I owned that restaurant, That morning crew wouldn't be going anywhere 😉
I had the French toast and my sister had the biscuits and gravy, both were amazing. Friendly staff. The place was packed for breakfast but service was prompt and food arrived in a timely manner. I can't recommend this place higher, definitely stop if you're in the area.
Seriously has been a while I've actually had a very pleasant experience at a breakfast spot. I came for a classic breakfast spot and this place didn't disappoint. Belgium waffle was perfect and thick. Hollister scramble was very well seasoned and tortillas were soft and flavorful. HOME MADE SALSA isn't spicy but man its good! Definitely recommend to bring the whole family 10/10 breakfast spot and everything is reasonably priced
Hi, I rolled thru the retro and classic part of Hollister and stopped by and had lunch with a friend and with one bite of the Grilled Chicken Taco Salad, I had to take a pic, it was Sooo Good. I’ve never had chicken that was this juicy, tender and seasoned just right! We also had a side of regular fries that were excellent and didn’t taste like cardboard when reheated as leftovers. Real friendly service, quick to keep your glasses full and a great local place to dine in town.🙌🏻
I love this place and have been going for years. I ordered french toast and they put way too much butter on it to start, also it was just okay. I ordered dollar pancakes for my daughter off the kids menu and they were far too big. It come with 1 egg but seems like they gave her way more. They have condensed their menu and I totally get it but seems like it just isn't the same.
Was passing through Hollister, stopped for a couple grocery items, and asked some local firefighters who were in line at checkout for name of a breakfast in town, and they recommended Country Rose. Firefighters are not wrong about things like this.
Our regular breakfast place, and used to be affordable, but every restaurant is just way too pricey to eat out anymore.
Our go to breakfast spot, but I love the lunch menu too! I recommend the California chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings. Their onion rings are fabulous! Can get really busy so be prepared if you go at prime times. Be sure to sign in on the wait list.
Food is always super yummy and a lot of it. I generally split or take half home. Service is pretty good. If it's super busy, it can feel like you might get skipped/missed, and then they come around. Staff seems super friendly and genuine.
Cafe comfort food at the finest dinning shop in downtown Hollister. Burgers are filling, juicy, tasty comfort delicious. Plant based burger is awesome. Perfect crunch, taste and spice. The bread is toasted to perfection. Vegetables are colorful and crunchy- pickles, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onions. French fries are crisped to a perfect golden color. Mashed potatoes are fluffy and the brown gravy is just right. Overall Comfy Heaven comfort food.
BIG portions, I would suggest you share - bacon and eggs 10/10.take the next with a grain of salt, as is just my personal preference and maybe I'm not used to buttermilk pancakes but they were a bit chewy.
Definitely a hot breakfast spot in town. Weekends can get busy and there can be a wait but it’s definitely worth it. Breakfast is A+. Every classic is on the menu and made old fashioned style. Big plate sizes and hot fresh off the griddle. I’ve also had the pleasure of having lunch here as well and it’s just as delicious. The pancakes are incredible and also the patty melt! The wait staff is friendly and willing to help. I will go every so often to try something new.
In the middle of old downtown Hollister the Country Rose Café sits conveniently on the corner. A very popular place for locals and maybe those lucky travelers that know about it. When you come, come hungry because the portions are off the scale. And as you can see in the photo below it was enough to feed two people. They have a great assortment of breakfasts and lunches and you won’t go hungry. The staff is very friendly and efficient and they appreciate your business. It was pretty busy on this visit with indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated pretty quickly. This establishment has been a mainstay for quite a while in Hollister. You won’t be disappointed by Diamond here.
good breakfast, although the eggs taste like they're from a carton it was still delicious because we were pretty hungry. The server could have warned my 10 & 12yr old boys and I about the hot plates, or at least place the plates down herself, both of my sons ended up mildly hurting their hand a bit because they didn't want to immediately drop the hot plate. I hope next time goes better, we will at least be prepared for the hot plates.
Being one of the few breakfast restaurants in town, it is always busy! Food is good sone days better than others. Service also depends on the waiter. There are some super friendly folks and some a little too grumpy for my liking. Portions are good. Pancakes, French toast, and waffles are the best! Also my fave are the sausage links!
As a man from the south it's okay at best your bacon was horrible though never want that on my plate again basically eating rocks. French toast was simple and good. Service was weird but friendly. Definitely not a Tennesseans perspective on country cooking or dining but it was a fair attempt at the very least. Good for the family coming from church reckon enough .
First and foremost, which is so wonderful and important - the service in here is fantastic and friendly. You can never beat a smile. This place is reasonably large, and busy. The theme is as the name suggests! Country styled, quaint and clean. They seem to run a tight ship and this is encouraging when you walk into such a large place. The menu is quite large and we didn't even read into the lunch pages - we ordered breakfast at midday. It arrived fairly quickly, considering the number of people. I ordered Eggs Benedict. So, here's the thing. It was delicious. But one day, I will find a place that prides itself on a true hollandaise sauce. This was not it. It was basically a chicken flavoured sauce. Still, it was nice and I ate it! The garlic hash brown was pretty good too. All in all, typical good home style American cooking with oversized servings. Nothing special, but the obvious pride they take in their service makes it a friendly and relaxing place to have a casual meal with friends or family. Note: Parking is a pain. Especially if mobility is an issue. There are very few disability spaces nearby. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest finding a different venue. We weren't even there during a busy time.
We have been going to Country Rose restaurant for years it was the best place for breakfast. Recently we have not had a good experience. Our breakfast was mediocre the omelets were fair. Both country style and hash browns were horrible you get a half of piece of toast. It went from an A to a C. We wont be going back
Its a nice place food is pretty good most the time. Service is pretty bad most the time. I think ewe have had good service one time there maybe twice. Been here over a year now been several times but just hasn't improved. Went today for a sandwich which was really good but Service as usual was horrible. We wanted dessert but they wanted us to leave instead so we left. We saw our server three times the whole time we were there and the last one was to bring the check didnt ask if we wanted anything else just arm stretched out as she came around the corner with the bill. So we just paid there with the machine and left without any treats......🙄. But it goes to show they dont care of we come or not they dont want to serve us. I guess this was the last time we will go. Sad cause there isnt many breakfast spot close so we will travel.
The food is semi-tastey but actually bad because it's very obviously made with the lowest quality ingredients, and they charge way too much for what it is. I did enjoy the atmosphere and the waitresses were friendly, but how anyone thinks this food is actually good for the prices they charge is crazy. Some of the worst quality food I've had at a restaurant in a long time, and that goes for the other people I was with. We were all disappointed for sure.
How can anyone love coming here? I’d rather drive 20 minutes and go to Black Bear Diner for the ridiculously high prices they are charging for a simple breakfast? We put our name down only to watch over 8 groups get seated before us that arrived after us. They don’t call out your name to be seated and when I checked the list, our group was crossed off. When I saw this, I informed a sever who sat us down immediately. The moment you sit down, your visually assaulted with nothing but ads on the tables. Okay, odd… but I get it. Have to get money somewhere… But then you’re handed a menu, and the ads from local businesses are on each page. We walked out of there so quickly. To each their own I guess. Will never visit here again.
First time eating here really bad expirence bad service my husband asked for crispy hasbrown when I told her the answer was they only do it on one side 😒 she forgot my toast i have to ask her about and when my husband was going to eat his English muffin we realized it was not toasted at all I told her about and she took it when she comeback with the English muffin was the same 👎
I haven't been to Country Rose in a few years because I was tired of it. I used to go at least once a month and sometimes a few times a month for years. Since their 4th Street days. Well, I got a breakfast burrito with bacon and hash browns to go. I don't know, maybe because I went at the end around 1:30, but everything in my burrito was dried out. Only ate about half of it. Not even with the salsa made it good enough to finish. And if I would have known that they were gonna charge me $1 for a tiny thing of salsa I would have declined it. It comes with 2 but I used to use 3 back in the day. I wasn't told about the extra charge. Not worth a $1 for 1. Maybe 50¢ 😕. A total let down 👎👎
