Maybe it was a one off day because I went to eat a lunch buffet and there was none. The buffet pictures are so mouthwatering! Good job to their photographer. I did place a to go order and my order was made in about 15 minutes. Even tho I was disappointed I didn’t get to eat the buffet I was satisfied with their food. The food was piping hot and exactly what I needed on a rainy cold day.

Yall, please try the sweet BBQ ribs!! I tried this place for the first time a couple days ago using delivery, but it was so good I had to come see the restaurant. This place is hands down one of my favorite places to eat now.

I love this place! I average eating here 5 times out 2 weeks. I'm usually the last customer of the night; right about 9pm. They never screw up my order and i order to take out (several items). The decor is a bit lacking, but they are always happy to see me.They recently changed ownership and i was afraid the quality of the food would decline, but that didnt happen. Check them out!

Called for pick up and they were super nice and everything was ready by the time I got there! The pricing is about average for a Chinese restaurant meaning it's not too cheap but not overly expensive either. I got the sesame chicken and the plates are huge. I got one big to go box of sesame chicken and rice was in another container! I also got free crab puffs! Anyway it's also a relatively clean store and the service was superb. I'll be back for sure

I don't give a damn what anyone says. I've been ordering with them for years. they are damn good. I like how fast and correctly, always find your front door they are accurate not even Uber eats or door dash service is not as good.

Me and my husband love it here! We love to go and get take out here when neither of us feels like cooking. They even closely help with certain allergies I have to avoid when eating take-out. The people are super nice and but also no-nonsense type people but we appreciate that fact most! Good food and good people!

Good Chinese Food, fresh, super hot, very hearty portions… food smells great and the service is so welcoming and nice waiters. My husband and I have “date night” every Friday! We try a lot of restaurants. Oriental express is just good all around well cooked Chinese food. We also have a family of 7 and it is very economical. Most restaurants at $100 plus for 7 however we can feed everyone and have leftovers for $60…. Great prices and good food!

Food is always fresh & plentiful. My favorite dish is the combination rice noodle or the combination fried rice. I usually end get a large egg drop soup as well. The waiters & waitresses are super friendly. I've been coming here for years & have nothing but love for this place. And when they see that you're a regular, they really treat you kindly. It's like a family atmosphere.

We eat here every time we go to Austin. It's the best, and my favorite, ever. One entree feeds me 3 times, as I always get full on their delicious soup and spring roll that comes with the meal. Restaurant is clean and attractive. Staff is friendly and fast. Prices are good too.

Just finished eating dinner here. The food was good! We ordered Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef with Broccoli, and Cashew Chicken. It was enough for 5 adults so the 3 of us have a lot of left overs. Service was great and very friendly. Meals come with soup, egg roll, and wonton chips. I'll probably be back in a week or so.

My first experience here exceeded my expectations! For a strip center Chinese restaurant, it's very fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. I had the veggie chow mein and at first I was uncertain that I would enjoy it, but after a few minutes the delicious sauce softened up the crispy fried noodles and it was amazing! I could not finish either, the portion of veggies was tremendous. And Jennifer is a sweet, friendly, attentive server. Only recommendation to the restaurant chefs is to try fried tofu, the texture is sooooo much tastier than soft. Definitely coming back!

I’m reviewing this as what it is, a cheap Chinese place. Ordered the general tso and it actually has a hint of spiciness not normally found in this “spicy” chicken: it is slightly spicy and sweet just as it should be. It came with an egg roll which is generic and hot and sour soup which is solid. Overall it was 12.44, tasty and filling. When compared to similar slightly more expensive places that have 20$ delivery it’s nearly just as good. Overall I’d recommend it, it’s a legit good large portion cheap Chinese restaurant that I’d recommend giving a try. 5 out of 5

Great food. Great variety. The waitress was very polite and served us with great care! The food was hot, and there was plenty of it! She explained the menu thoroughly, & with great detail. The inside is very clean, quiet . A bit pricey, but it's worth it! I will be returning!

Have been coming here for years. Recently changed owners. Although I mjss the ladies, the new staff is friendly and are keeping most of the meal selections. Love the buffet! They offer military and senior discounts and they are much appreciated.

Ordered for delivery... was told 45-1hour wait... was pleasantly surprised at our wait time being only 20 minutes! Food was fresh, steaming hot! Food was very tasty and servings were plentiful. Very satisfied with service, promptness and taste of food! Definitely ordering again in the future!!

Hard working and friendly staff. Has a nice selection on buffet and the tea was excellent. Only negative was the price. Two lunch buffets and two sweet teas cost us close to $30. That's just a little too pricey for lunch in my opinion.

Food was great. Service was great. I was told they were no longer accepting the passbook coupon that didn't expire until December 2018. That was the only reason I couldn't rate it five stars. I've had the dinner entrees, lunch specials, and the buffet. I go once a week or so. It's always good. Just disappointed that they would arbitrarily stop accepting a valid coupon.

The place I always go to when I am in town. Big portions of good food. I always order take out to take back to the hotel, and always order too much. I have not gotten a bad item yet. It is all good.

If your looking for a decent Chinese food place where you want bang for your buck this is the place. They got good food and they ain't afraid to give you a fat plate for your enjoyment. They know your gunna be taking it home with you because of how much they gave you. That's exactly what I did. I had no problems there and there wasn't any waiting. The fact that they weren't busy was kind of concerning but also since we in a pandemic I understand people aren't exactly ready to dine in. Still a very good place to consider.

I don't get a chance to stop by Oriental Express very often, but when I do, it never disappoints. The menu has plenty of options, and the serving sizes are generous. The egg drop soup is some of the best I've had, and it comes with a heaping mound of fried wantons on the side. Their prices are very reasonable, especially their lunch specials, which are served with soup and a huge pile of fried rice.

I am having dinner here as a first time (did not plan for it). I ordered few items for myself and it turned out too much for one person 🤣🤣🤣 Hot & sour soup - must try! I will be back for it Steamed pork dumplings - suck! Tasteless do not try (I looked for other items but some of them out of stock) Sichuan Pork - good taste (Chinese taste is not to strong but you can get the flavor) hot, good color with huge portion size Chili oil - standard, not too much flavor or taste but you can get the spicy kick I would say it is a good place for you when you don't know where to go. Good food with low price(big portion) that you can come back anytime. I believe if you choose the right appetizer, you could get better experience than I.

Was slightly disappointed with my food today. I've eaten here many times and the food is usually good, today it was just okay. My wonton soup was terrible, tasted old. The beef and broccoli w/ fried rice was good. I will still eat here but no more wonton soup.

Update 4-10-2019 They changed cooks and I ended up tossing out pretty much 40 dollars worth of food. Maybe someone was having a bad day, but this experience cost 2 stars. I will try again because they have been so excellent in the past but feeling discouraged given how bad my recent visit was. You could sure tell that the old cook was gone I am glad I discovered this place. It's a full-service Chinese restaurant with a lunch buffet and I have been there for the buffet and to take out orders. This style of Chinese cooking is exactly the kind of taste I really love. The first time I got broccoli beef and it was about 75% beef and about 25% broccoli. All of the dishes are generous with meet. If I could change one thing I would order the broccoli beef and request that they put in more broccoli. The weekday lunch buffet has a generous selection a various dishes and a few American Style.

Quantity over quality. Best part was large portion size of chicken fried rice and combo lo mein. However, flavor was lacking in both. Also, Sichuan beef was not nearly as spicy or flavorful to be called Sichuan. This dish and the chicken and broccoli also did not have enough meat, mainly veggies. Hope to see improvements as we would like to give y’all our business in the future.

I kept getting interrupted while I was ordering on the phone. They need more vegetables available. And need to include more veggies in their dishes. There is no pineapple in the sweet and sour chicken. Every other place I've found that services this dish adds pineapple. Their restroom has sticky floors. Poor communication skills. Typical cheap "chinese." And my soup was not hot but at least it was warm. Not worth it.

Ordered pickup. The lady who brought my food to me was very pleasant, which is why they got 2 stars. While waiting for my food, I looked at the buffet and decided I would not be back for that option. The combination fried rice that I ordered looked like they just put meat from other dishes on top of plain fried rice. Each meat tasted different and I didn't bother finishing it and nobody else in my house would eat it.

Ordered to go. I picked it up and got home. We were disappointed that the fried rice was way overcooked. The chicken and beef were also overcooked and it was dried out. Even the egg rolls were mushy and undercooked. $30 down the drain. After eating two spoonfuls, the wife and I tossed our containers in the trash and went to China Dragon. Always on point there and they know us! Oriental Express looks rundown inside, the guy at the register was cool so I give him credit for taking my order. But never again will I go there.

This place is disgusting and the manager is worthless. I ordered delivery two nights ago and there was a very small BUG IN MY FOOD which I will post pics of. I called and told them the situation and the manager told me that next time I could come in for a free one. I clearly ordered delivery because I don't have a car. First he didn't want to replace it then he said well today is busy I will replace it tomorrow. I call the next day and he tells me I have to pay delivery fee! Are you serious???! There was a BUG IN MY FOOD that I had to throw away and I have to pay for you to REPLACE IT? I don't think so I will never order from this nasty place again. YOUVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

They don't have fresh foods on buffet and don't have sesame chicken on buffet. When asked if we could get some, she brought us sesame seeds only!! Language barrier and the hostess was eating food while delivering takeout orders. Customer even asked her if she had a taste and she said "I always do" and laughed. Do yourself a favor and pass right on by. Awful awful awful.

So I'm sitting here after an HOUR AND A HALF wait for my delivery with cold food. Not to mention missing the two sodas that were supposed to be with the order. I call to speak with them and immediately the manager hits me with "we can put crab puffs on your next order for free." Not "We can refund you for your sodas," or "what can we do to fix your order?" This will be my last order at this money stealing, unprofessional, and uncourteous business. I suggest saving yourself the struggle and eat elsewhere!

Got a pamphlet from them at the hotel I was staying at for a delivery. It is a huge regret of mine for ever contacting them. The ordering went fine the lady was nice enough and she told me it would be 40 minutes for the food to get here, I said that's fine. An hour goes by and still no food, so I call. the lady assures me that he's on his way and had already left a long time ago with my order so he should be getting here any moment. I say ok and hang up . 20 more mins. go by so I call again...same thing . A lil while after that he finally shows up with the food . The food is cold and staleishly hard and my iced tea was so hot that there wasn't even any evidence of ice . The little paper bags that contained the cheese puffs and sauces were wet and half disinegrated .The cheese puffs contained only a tiny taste of cheese in each. The rice noodles were full of veggies even after I told them plain rice noodles no meat and no veggies. I hate broccoli and I'm allergic to mushrooms . when I call and inform them on this they simply say "Oh, can you not pick them out?". I shouldn't have to pick anything out, it should have been prepared the way I asked. I will never recommend this place nor will I ever order from them again.

Ordered through Grubhub. I ordered Orange beef with no broccoli, added celery and water chestnuts. Also ordered Shrimp toast. The delivery came on time. But there was no orange at all, none. The citrus part is my favorite...no orange. No celery in order instead packed with onions. There was hardly any meat because there were so many water chestnuts in it you could have called it a salad. I am not a vegetarian, I like meat. They were out of shrimp toast. So I got flavorless fried chicken wings. I WON'T EVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN OR ADVICE ANYONE TOO! Then someone from the restaurant called me and they were nasty to me as well. NEVER AGAIN!

I've been there numerous times and am always disappointed. I've been going back since it's so close to my work but after tonight, no more. Other times I found their restroom to have disgusting sticky floors, their buffet to be quite lacking, their delivery to take too long and the order often times not fully correct. Shy of veggie options. This time, the only thing I wanted was a big container of hot & sour soup. When I got there and waited (for a long while) they acted is the five customers and two phone calls was a scene of chaos and they just couldn't handle it. The owner griped at the young girl on the phone because she was messing with the computer while talking on the phone. I'm not sure why. I must have missed something, but you should watch how you treat your employees, particularly in front of customers. Then one of the girls working front of house got off the phone and said "She asked me if I had cheese won tons. How stupid." Yeah, real stupid. what chinese restaurant has cheese won tons? Point is, I finally was about to place my order for JUST SOUP. Soup they ALREADY HAVE ready to go in the kitchen but I was told I was going to have wait another 15 minutes at least or it'd be "line jumping." The owner can't ladle out some damn soup while the rest of the cooks are preparing meals? I would think they'd be happy to have ONE satisfied customer tonight. No one looked happy to be there. not the customers, the employees or even the owner. During previous trips, the server would tell me how stupid the cooks and the owner are. What a fantastically run ship. I wish this place would go out of business.

Oriental Express usually have excellent food but the other day we had placed an $35 order. Everything was great expect for the green beans we had order had made my finance very sick to her stomach. To make story short I food & beverages restaurants train & making sure that each and every employee is washing their hands...

Food was OK. The sesame chicken tastes like their orange chicken with sesame seeds on it. I ordered delivery and they forgot an appetizer. When I called and asked for them to deliver what I had paid for, the person said, "well with traffic its going to take a while, so..." They called a few minutes later asking if they could give me store credit. They eventually refunded me for the appetizer.

I used to eat here years ago and it was alright back then. Went recently and I could tell the food I was given was old/leftovers. (Tasted like it had been sitting for a couple days in the fridge except for the white rice seemed fresh.. It made my stomach hurt. Ended up throwing it out.🤢

Ordered delivery and was given a time frame of 45-hr. An hour and a 1/2 later I call to find out how much longer & was told the driver had left already & they don't know how much longer since they aren't the driver. The lady asked if I'd like to speak with a manager but I told her I would call back after the food arrived. Driver arrives approx 10 min after the call & the order is wrong. Called back to speak to a manager to be placed on hold for several minutes & then be told there is not a manager there & they had no clue when the manager would be there. Who runs a restaurant w out a manager on the floor & earlier there apparently was a manager to speak with? I guess I lost out on that opportunity... I have had great past experiences dining in at this restaurant & have ordered delivery once or twice; however, this type of customer service is unacceptable & unfortunately we will not be a return customer. Don't have time or money to waste on this type of service & will be happy to take my business elsewhere in the future!

They are sending ANYTHING out the door. I don't know if they have new owners or cooks but the quality IMO is no longer there with the food and customer service. The last 3 orders that I've placed with them had issues. The latest issue (burnt Wontons and burnt Wings)I was told my order would be replaced but when I called to get the replacement someone else said no because of rising prices they couldn't replace the wings but would send me crab puffs instead. The food is not consistant and the managers are taking the employees mistakes out on the customers. I will NEVER spend another penny here.

I am giving this place a one because the only thing edible were the crab Rangoon. The sesame beef was terrible. It tasted like burnt liver. The combo fried rice had 2 overcooked shrimp, that burnt liver meat, and I assume what was chicken (Not sure). The rice was way overcooked and had no veggies. Never again. Waste of money.

Food quality is terrible, customer service is worse, and even on a good day delivery is at least an hour and I Live less than a mile from them. We’ve ordered multiple times for a fair try and each time have been disappointed by the fatty low quality meats (especially chicken), and forget writing anything in the delivery instructions like “don’t ring doorbell please it will wake the baby.”

Food taste was okay. Ribs only had sauce in them, they were not cooked with the spare rib red ssauce.also, the Wonton soup had ONE wonton for almost $4. I would not eat here again or recommend it

I been ordering since 2011. Well a few days ago I ordered combo rice. There was shrimp peelings in my food I spoke with the owner Ricky, he ask that I send him a picture to his phone. Sent the picture he than said send another one cause it wasn't clear. Than he tells me their shrimp don't come with peelings oh so I guess I just had shrimp peelings laying around in my house & placed it in my plate. 🤔 The owner is very rude he do not care about his customers at all. I really miss the previous owner she was so sweet & valued her customers. Only 13 bucks for my meal & the owner put up a fuss behind replacing the meal as if his cooks don't make mistakes.

Not a very good experience. The service was slow and the waitstaff barely came by our table. We had to wave people down just to get our order down. The food felt heavy and greasy. My wife could barely finish her meal and had a bellyache at night. It's a shame because we love chinese food.

Before I begin, the wait staff were really nice and polite. Now, onto the food. It was very much mediocre, nothing special about it at all. I just want there today. Got there at 12:30, and left at 1:30. As the food was being eaten by other patrons and myself, nothing was being refilled. The containers of food just sat there empty. So, by the time I left, there were only a few containers of food left, most of them were empty. Also, the one thing I actually enjoyed there was the general tsaos chicken, and that was gone and never replaced after my first plate. I have never seen this before. I was so disappointed with my visit here. I feel like I got scammed paying for a buffet that was half empty the entire hour I was there. Nothing will make me go back. Save your money, go somewhere else.

This place is VERY run down. Upon arrival, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands; the restroom was very old and run down, however, I tried not to be judgemental. The lunch buffet was fairly priced and quite a large selection. We ate at noon...at 6pm I had SEVERE stomach cramping, diarrhea and vomiting!!! Something was definately wrong with something I ate! Beware of buffets! On a plus side- the staff was very nice.

Good food and prices but the customer service is absolutely horrible. I ordered for pick up on my way home from work because I had another appointment. When I got home I realized that that soup that I had ordered was incorrect. I called and the lady that answered the phone argued with me and told me that I did not order what I said I ordered. The owner finally got on the phone and said come back we will give you the correct order. So I interrupted my evening, wasted gas, drove in the rain, and When I got to the store the owner was not there and the staff was still trying to give me the wrong soup. Very disrespectful. I ended up paying the difference from the soup they gave me end for the soup I actually wanted and they were unwilling to own up to their mistake. REALLY? They were very defensive and argumentative. I will not be returning to this venue! I Do not recommend this establishment at all!

Very rude evening manager. We ordered pickup over the phone then showed up to pay and they said it would be 20-30 minutes and after noticing the time we realized the grocery store would be closing soon. We néeded 2 things for the house so we drove the 1.2 miles to grab them while our food was being prepared. ...as we came out the grocery store we noticed a missed call from the restaurant so we called to see if our order was ready and let em know we were on our way back. The manager began to chastise me for leaving and said he cancelled our order when he saw us drive away and said he wasn't going to make our order and to come in for our voided receipt. When we got there he said we had to wait until 10 when he closed out his merchant terminal. At 10pm exactly he and his kitchen staff all filed out the restaurant at the same time. I could be wrong but our order was almost $100...not to big but big enough they wouldn't have gotten out the restaurant by 10pm exactly. So rather than make the restaurant more money at the cost of a few minutes of extra work he cancelled our order. If they aren't serving food until 10om then they should change their posted hours of operation. The. To be as rude as he was is totally ridiculous. Then to make matters worse we weren't even refunded out money as he closed the door behind his last employee and left us in the parking lot for a half hour before we realized he snuck out the back door and left. We won't be ordering food there ever again. What a jerk.

I got home with the wrong meal two weeks ago. I called and was told I had a credit of $18.14 applied to my account/phone number. Today I went to pickup my replacement meal and received only a credit of $4.00. The manager said he had to charge me for the rice and soup because we ate the rice and soup on the wrong meal!!! No kidding. Never again. 😡 He was rude, smug and very unprofessional and treated the situation like a joke when I told him the whole meal should be replaced not just a $4.00 credit for the meat! Ridiculous! Did I already say never again? The food quality has changed anyway, it’s not as good as it used to be. They have lost a longtime customer permanently.

I don’t typically leave reviews but my experience here was so horrible that I had to share. I ordered dinner for 1 online and picked up in person. They took 50 minutes to make my vegetable lo mein, which is just noodles and vegetables. They did not have a single customer in the restaurant and had multiple cooks working. They were not busy, in fact it was quite desolate. They made several other to go orders ahead of mine. I’m fairly certain they didn’t even start cooking my order until I arrived 10 minutes after my scheduled pick up time. Customer service was also poor. When I brought up the time it took to receive my order I was not even offered an apology. I was charged more in person than what was reflected online and the food itself was not satisfactory. The only redeeming quality is the portion size but the food itself was bland and required additional seasoning.

As I was heading to pick up my food at 9:40 the owner (I assume) is calling me to pay over the phone because they close in a few minutes. I asked them to wait so I can grab my card. Once I got in my car I realize I was only a few minutes away so I might as well pay there. The owner called me again and this time is yelling at me to pay over the phone or he will cancel my order. I told him that I was parking and he was still yelling at me to pay over the phone. Mind you, my friend also placed an order at the exact time. He was not getting treated like this. Once I walked in, there was people literally still dining in AND MY FOOD WASN'T EVEN READY. Also it was just gross in general. I ordered General Tso's and crab puff. Please do not let them belittle you.

Customer service was good, I did a pick up of beef fried rice with shrimp, bought 4 dinners. Beef tasted old smelled sour. Hope I don't get sick. I have eaten at many. Didn't care for this one.

I made a $50 delivery order last night; none of my meals came with the fried rice is ordered them with, my lemon chicken meal didn't come with sauce, and they gave us the wrong soups. I called this morning and asked to speak with a manager (who apparently is also the one taking the phone orders) and all he said he could do to make it right was be sure to give me rice next time and offer me free crab puffs with my next order (which are valued at ~$5). I'm very displeased. I talked to a neighbor about their experience with this place and it was similar. Not sure why they think throwing $5 down on a mistake that screwed me out of much more than $5 is a fair compensation, but do not order delivery or carry out from here. Food quality was at least decent, but I am entirely turned off by their service.

Service was terrible! The hostess/waitress Claudia was unfortunate, disrespectful, rude & unprofessional. I visited the location because I like the food, the buffet some of the items, my favorites needed to be replenished, I made mentioned of how the items looked (in a pleasant way, to explain the view was appetizing) and the response was push back of how one item was just displayed and I answered the item looked overcooked. I also invited a friend to join me, my treat, and I was ignored by way of beverage refill when I stepped away my guests was asked for refill but when I sat down, Claudia didn't have the respect to ask me the same and all the while I was very cordial. Definitely needs more training as to how you treat customers who mean no harm but want what they pay for, edible, nice looking tasty food and good service. I didn't receive that on this visit.

I ordered the hot and sour seafood soup. It had a cockroach in it. I will never order from here again.

Disappointing - Sour Meat I recently ordered the [ Two Combination Fried Rice May 12, 2025] from Oriental Express on Cameron Road and was very disappointed to find that the meat tasted distinctly sour. This indicated it was likely spoiled and made the entire meal inedible. This is a serious food quality issue, and I would caution others when ordering meat dishes from this location. I hope the restaurant takes immediate steps to improve their ingredient freshness and food handling.

The food is good but poor customer service... Which just screws up everything else

Tonight I bought 4 plates of rice and shrimp and they were really poor in shrimps and they only gave me 2 sauces. I don’t think of going again.

Ordered General Tso for lunch but it took almost 30 mins for my food to be ready taking up half my break. The rice was very soft and mushy and the chicken had little flavor. Under 10 bites in and my stomach started to hurt..

Very disappointed. We tried this place a few months ago and it was great. Unfortunately we just ordered food and there was a bug in the tightly sealed bag of food. Worse was the customer service. The manger tried to accuse us that the bug came from our car. So to them somehow this ninja bug was able to find its way into a tightly sealed bag and reseal it all in a matter of minutes. Ridiculous. Suffice it to say we will no longer be getting food here. If they don’t take their bug issues seriously that’s just a food safety issue I personally can’t ignore. Disgusting. Very disappointed.

I walked into this restaurant and before they even sat me down it had a weird smell and was dirty all over the place. I just turned around and walked out.

Tasting with Tee

I ordered food via Uber Eats and when it arrived the restaurant forgot to add our eggrolls. I contacted the restaurant only for them to gaslight me and say it must have been a bad driver. You left the eggrolls off the order and had cheap lids that made the sauce waste everywhere. How are you blaming the driver. Never tried to rectify or resolve the issue. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. We use to order from them all the time and they have went down hill, the food tasted old and they didnt offer a credit or nothing. I am never eating here again and this is not how you treat customers. BAD BUSINESS X100. I wish I could share these photos

Peace And Tranquility

I ordered food for delivery For my husband and myself,which consisted of beef and broccoli with steamed rice and chicken fried rice with 2 egg drop soups and chips for the soup. What we got was tough beef in our broccoli with three scoops of white rice and hardly any of the entrée, We also got Sticky stale tasting fried rice with little pieces of chicken. We were both disappointed in the way the food tasted, and the way it looked. We thought we would give oriental express another try after years of not going and we were very disappointed. I would not recommend and I will not try again! It was a total waste of our money the food as well as delivery and tip! Never again!
