This food was AMAZING!!! Best Indian food I’ve had and I live in North Texas with a dense Indian population. Vindaloo was superb, as was the garlic and red pepper naan. They serve alcohol so bonus points for that!! Will go back anytime I visit Hoover.
Victor is the host to have he will help you find exactly what you want to your taste,the food was excellent and we will be back.
This place is amazing!! From the food (which was phenomenal) to the atmosphere (not too fancy, not too casual) to the service (top notch), we have definitely found our new favorite traditional Indian restaurant. We tried a few new things, and each was better than the last. The garlic naan was my favorite, but the gulab jamun for dessert was the icing on the cake! Thank y’all—we will be back next week! ;)
Had a great experience at Desi Tadka! The chicken dum biryani was exceptional, and the Andhra chicken was delicious. The naan was the best we’ve ever had. Our server Manav was very attentive and sweet, and they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert with our names on it. Amazing food and thoughtful service!
Absolutely delicious. Have been here multiple times and each dish I have tried has been a slam-dunk. Also the portion sizes are very generous for the price, very good value. The staff are kind and knowledgeable and you can control the overall spiciness of each dish. Also I love the decor. Best Indian Cuisine in Bham.

The menu has a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes with bold, delicious flavors, and every item we tried was cooked beautifully and seasoned perfectly. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The ambiance feels warm and inviting — great for families, date nights, or casual dinners. Everything from the biryanis to the curries and naan was excellent. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the area — highly recommended to anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It’s by far my favorite Indian restaurant. They do a lot of to go orders. Tons of people from India actually eating here which isn’t the case for other Indian restaurants. They have 5 spice levels and are happy to adapt the level to you. We love the Hariyali Chicken from the Tandoori and the Chicken Makhani. Y’all need to try this place.
Amazing cuisine and delightful atmosphere. Staff were courteous and attentive. This is the best butter chicken I’ve ever had at a restaurant! The butter naan and garlic naan were impossible to put down. We will be adding this restaurant to our rotation when we come back to Birmingham.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Desi Tadka! We ordered ghee idli, chili gobi, paneer tikka, Vijayawada veg biryani, and rose falooda, and every dish was flavorful and well prepared. The ghee idli was soft, aromatic, and perfectly paired with the chutneys. Chili gobi was crispy with the right balance of spice, and the paneer tikka was tender, smoky, and full of flavor. The Vijayawada veg biryani stood out with its authentic taste and spicy kick—definitely a must-try for biryani lovers. We ended the meal with rose falooda, which was refreshing and delicious. Overall, great food, authentic flavors, and a satisfying experience. Highly recommend Desi Tadka for anyone craving quality Indian vegetarian food in Alabama! 🇮🇳✨
We had for appetizer,the Chili Garlic shrimp, then for the main course we had the Chicken curry, Coconut Chicken, Chicken Karma with white rice and and two orders of Butter roti. I tried all three dishes but my favorites were the Coconut and Curry chicken these were delicious with just the right amount of spices, we choose mild. Can't forget the appetizer it was a great start to the meal.
The servers were very kind and happy to recommend dishes. We got the Garlic Chili Naan (which came out shaped like a heart!) and Ghee Podi Idli as appetizers. For entrees, we got the Goat Saag and the Hariyali Chicken Tikka. The Hariyali Chicken Tikka was definitely my favorite, but it was all fantastic!! Would love to come back :)
Great food, great service. We called on our way to Oxford. We told them our exact ETA and the server had it hot and ready by the time we got there. The food was delicious and hot also to our spice level. The restroom was clean. The restaurant was very well organized and very authentically decorated.Interiors were very classy. 5STARS all the way. I forgot to take pictures of the food and the interiors as when I saw the food served, I was hungry and got into my food. Next time please remind me that camera eats first 😜😂🥰🫶🏼
We have eaten here twice and have enjoyed both times. The food is very good and they have a large menu. My wife says the mild is spicier than she expected and my extra hot channa masala was the spiciest I ever had which I appreciated.
My oldest daughter suggested this restaurant based on a Tik Tok testimonial. (Very good food!) Veg Samosa Chicken Tikka Masala Butter Chicken Garlic Naan Gulab Jamun Nice ambiance Good service. Food piping hot, great flavor, and good portion size. I will be back.
One of the top Indian Restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this place not only because the food is top tier but the service is also. You are greeted with a smile when you walk in the door. There is a photo wall as soon as you come in which is a nice touch for the photo ready customers. The Chef is amazing, I absolutely love Indian food but we all know that the spice level can be a bit overwhelming if you are not accustomed to it. He actually made my dish at the right amount of spice for me and of course my husband was like “bring the heat”. We truly enjoyed our meals and we do ask if you love or even like Indian food, please stop by Desi Tadka Indian Restaurant and enjoy a plate. They have some of the most authentic dishes and the Chef and staff are absolutely fantastic.
The drinks were 10/10. Stayed cold the whole time and the food was also 10/10000 AMAZING!!!! And the service was also great. Thanks to our server Victor for recommending our dishes. We are from out of state and definitely will be back.
Outstanding flavors and very hospitable service. We will definitely return for more of the delicately cooked chicken, crispy samosas and korma with cashews.
This was a very great experience. I visited their farmers market/grocery store a few weeks ago and they shared they also had a restaurant in the same place. On arrival I was warmly greeted and promptly seated. The server helped me make my selections and I have no regrets. I ordered medium spice which had a kick but worth it. The corn soup is very flavorful. The goat was the GOAT😂😂 Basmatic rice and the Garlic noan aka bread is 😋😋 The portion size was more than I expected so I have enough left for lunch. The cost was reasonable. Less than $30 minus tip. They even gave me a Indian dessert which I can't type the name of. Well worth the visit. I will return for another Indian delicacy soon. Oh the atmosphere is really quaint with comfortable seating and the music so soothing. I love everything about it!! 💯
My date and I returned because of our first experience. Their food is unmatched. Victor is the server you dream of. He even arranged to explain to my date details about her favorite dish. Butter chicken. The team here is next level, their concern for details and service is second to none. I really think that the restaurant Nextdoor should consider relocating because it is nonexistent to us in the shadow of this place. It’s always spotless, clean and inviting. I’d like to speak to the owner to tell them to give Victor a raise! And Matov, because he’s one of our favorites! We will be back!
The BEST Indian food we've had in Birmingham! And I repeat THE BEST! Do yourself a favor and order the Chicken Chettinand or the Lamb Vindaloo. The servers are always helpful when we can't decide what to order and give great recommendations so don't be afraid to ask. Our server also surprised us with a little dessert this time around.
The food and service were amazing. I had a craving for some Indian food and just searched what was in the area. I was blown away at how good the food was. I will definitely be coming back and telling my friends about it.
I had a great experience here! The atmosphere alone is beautiful! Beautiful decor and lovely purple velvet booths. I ordered some Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) and butter Naan and it was so good!! Got full very quickly and was able to take home leftovers🤗 at the our waiter surprised us with a desert and a tray with our names written on it. It was so nice! I will definitely be returning!
This is by far the best Indian food I’ve had in Birmingham. The food was absolutely delicious! The ambiance and service were impeccable! We will definitely be back :) I had the Andre curry and my boyfriend had butter chicken. The butter chicken was rich and flavorful and creamy! Andre chicken was as good with the kick of spice. The garlic nann was thin and so crispy. We came here with scrubs and they were so nice to give us a complimentary dessert 💓
Great food, great staffs, and good prices! We tried numerous dishes. Chicken 65 happened to be the best. Other ones were good as well. Kudos to the staffs for being humble and working their best to provide good service. Certainly a place i'd visit often!
We got takeout. The chole bhature (puffed fried bread with chickpea curry) was fantastic. I already started eating that before I took the pic. You can't go wrong when ordering breads and curries here. Edit: Went again. The pav bajii was way too salty. It was like they took the salt bottle and just poured it in there:/ And the south indian dishes were just alright.
Good food it was made exactly as requested and very friendly staff. Service was very fast. Loved the Jalebi with rabdi absolutely delicious.
Went a couple of times both were Sunday was a long way. Took an hour to get my food when I got my food. It was almost cold today. I went again ordered cheese pav Bhaji. Got regular Pav Bhaji. When I told staff, then they went and they added cheese on top ridiculous bhaji on my plate with that was without cheese. Pav was not fresh even felt bhaji was not fresh and order chicken 65 when it got into my table, it was almost cold
