Food was hot and fresh! Service was great. Actually everyone who worked there was nice to us! I can't wait to go back
The service is friendly and easy going environment. Light music playing and the food was fresh and hot. This is my first visit to this restaurant and I’m very pleased. I will definitely be back.
Very clean friendly service, we went on karaoke 🎤 night so it was a little loud but dam my neighbors can sing. Shrimp cocktail is pricey but soooo good. It is definitely a meal in itself.
Quick and good food/service. I'm happy with the food and felt welcomed by the staff's service. I stopped by for a late lunch after 2 pm. Since I was new, I asked the waitress for the popular lunch options and ordered the Enchiladas Potasinas with an Agua Fresca (Hibiscus). Their mason jars are pretty large and just $3.99. If you like Hibiscus, I would recommend you try it! The food was good, but I don't have much to compare it to since this was my first time trying Enchiladas Potasinas. The environment is welcoming, the decor is nice to look at, and the staff was super friendly. Don't be surprised if the Owner/Manager stops by and asks about the service and food. He was full of conversation and a joy to be around. You can tell that they all strive to help their customers get the best dining experience. Stop by the next time your in the area!
5 Stars A Must-Visit. I came all the way from Seattle and stumbled upon El Catrín, and wow, what an experience! The food was absolutely amazing rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite felt like a celebration of authentic Mexican and Cuban cuisine. The live music? Electric. It set the perfect vibe and made the entire evening feel alive and vibrant. I genuinely felt myself unwind and enjoy the moment. What really stood out was the hospitality. The owner and the entire team are incredibly warm and welcoming. Their customer service is top-notch. you can tell they truly care about their guests and take pride in what they do. If you’re in Houston, don’t miss this gem. I’ll be dreaming about this place until my next trip back.
Loved there food, it's very delicious and there margaritas are perfect. Definitely recommend to come check them out.
Stopped in 9 p.m. on a Thursday night, pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and classy look and feel of this restaurant. Was greeted by very friendly staff, sat in a comfortable booth. Menu is varied and easy to navigate. Seafood looks amazing! Opted for Tacos El Molino, three good sized corn tortillas (not street taco sized) filled with grilled fajita meat, grilled onions, a light smear of beans (to hold it all together), fresh Cilantro and queso fresco. Topped one with the red table salsa (spicy hot) one with the green table salsa (creamy and hot) and last one with a little of each. Soft, seasoned fajita meat blends well with the beans, onions grilled semi soft and plentiful, Cilantro neutralizes the flavors and the queso crumbles add that fresh, semi sour taste. Plate come with just the 3 tacos. No rice or beans to interfere with the taste. Washed it all down with frozen margarita with salted rim, delicious Rita! Definitely a top 5 in my book! Go to El Catrin, explore the menu while sipping a frozen margarita! Treat yourself!
This restaurant has such a cool vibe and the food was delicious...we had the chicken/beef/shrimp fajitas....too die for good...served with 🌰 and bell pepper 🫑 rice beans and fresh guacamole....their salsa is soooo 👍🏽
1st time here - Ordered the Volcano Molcajete for two, it was delicious!! Spiced to perfection. Flour tortillas are homemade, salsas have a kick, a must try. Next I will try the margarita.

The food is great. The atmosphere is good. The staff is friendly. They do great takeout for large groups. It's a little hidden gem.
My husband and I have been to El Catrin many times. We are always greeted warmly. The service has been excellent every time we have visited. I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here, mexican/cubano flair. The breakfast is a good value and I usually get just eggs and bacon while my husband gets a soup dish and taco. On my last visit I had the seafood tower for breakfast. Filled with shrimp, fish and avocado it was very good. I love places that have ambiance and El Catrin has a great vibe that tells you the owner really cares about their business. Always clean and inviting. We enjoy this neighborhood restaurant. I wish I had an event to give because I think this would be a great place for a party! We will be back.
The fried Tilapia with ranchero sauce was delicious. I would come back to get this same thing again the next time I fly into IAH.
The salsa and soup was great. Lunch special was cheap and tasted great. Pleasantly surprised with how good this place was, will be back soon.
The food was amazing and the service was really great. My family and I will most definitely be coming back!!!!

Was a great visit, seems like they were doing a little bit of remodeling, that's why this visit wasn't five stars. But everything else was great! I ordered the Taco's El Morino. Tacos were full, three was more than I needed because they were so big. I prefer the beef fajita over the chicken fajita, although both were very delicious. They come with a poblano pepper, grilled onions, cheese, and cilantro. Water was in a beautiful mason jar, which I found to be a nice touch. Price was fair. I'll definitely be going back. You also get a free vegetable soup that was also delicious. Apparently margaritas during lunch are $3.99 just a little FYI.
My phone order was quick and easy. I was handled professionally over the phone and as I went inside to pick up the order. I had the Tacos El Molino with a side of charros and it came with a bag of chips. My food was delicious. Seasoned perfectly, but there were a few let downs. The Charros was not hot. It was more on the warm side. I did not get any limes to squeeze on my tacos, as you can see my can of coke was $2.25(ridiculous) and my cup of Charros was $4.25. I wish I got more beans for that price instead of the small cup. Overall I would eat here again, but I will NOT be ordering a can soda. The ambience was nice. They were quick to prepare my food and everyone I came into contact with had lovely smiles on their face.
New restaurant in our neighborhood. Nice decor, nice atmosphere, our waitress was very friendly, attended us well. The food was very good. Flavors were very unique. Only disappointment was went our food came out it was served on a plastic tray. That in itself grossed me out.

I’ve visited this restaurant three times. The first two visits were amazing—fresh food, great service, and a cozy environment. Because of those experiences, I went out of my way (about an hour and a half) to bring my partner here. Unfortunately, this third visit was very disappointing. I ordered the beef soup, and what I received looked like it was made from leftovers. There were no corn, carrots, or potatoes—what was there was broken up and soggy. The cabbage was practically nonexistent. The soup contained only one bueso anillo with mostly fat and a piece of meat smaller than the tip of my pinky. That was the only meat in the soup, and I waited about 20 minutes for it. $15.99 - not what I expected for that price. This visit took place in the early afternoon on a Sunday, which made the experience even more surprising. Based on my experiences, I’ll likely stick to visiting during lunch hours, as my first two visits were during that time and were much better. On a positive note, the salsa and chips are delicious, and their margarita was strong enough to be “one and done.”
Let’s start with the Negative sorry here to be honest only. Short Staffed, Restaurant very 🥵 Hot miserable hot . Waitstaff seemed in a rush taking order and took forever to come back to see if we needed refills , food took forever to come to table but food was good in pictures . We ordered drink refills but they took forever to come 2nd round by that time we were ready to leave and drinks had been sitting so long the ice had melted. : / So I did what anyone would do I cancelled drinks and waiter rolls her eyes at me 🤪. Rice not all that and if you get cheese dip if you don’t eat right away cheese gets hard . This place gets 3 for being clean and below pics and drinks if brought to table on time really good . 2.5 rating but don’t want to give 2 because they are not completely horrible and this place has potential to improve. Fix A.C and hire more people especially for weekends . 🤗💃Yes we still tipped because these people still deserve their tip always give grace and waitress did apologize at the end so yes she probably was just having bad day it happens .
I've been here for take out on 2 occasions. I've tried the large beef quesadilla that my coworker ordered and I've tried the baked fish with rice and fries. The quesadilla had a really great flavor but was quite greasy. The fish was pretty average. The first time I went, I ordered at the counter and my food was ready in less than 15 minutes even though it was crowded and really busy for lunch. The second time, we called in the order and I arrived at the time I was told it would be ready. Not only was it NOT ready but I waited an additional 15 or 20 minutes for them to get it ready even though there were very few people in the dining room. The inside looks nice and has a full bar and a patio area and maybe live music. Parking is ample. The menu is pretty full so I would like to try other things on the menu and see if I can "veganize" some things. I would also like to go at a time other than lunch on a weekday. The jury is still out on this place. At best it's average.

Never again. I ordered a lemonade and they rung it up as an aquas fresca and charged me $4.25. They charged $3.99 for my husband's ice tea. We had the chili con queso, but it was so watered down we didnt eat it and they took it off the bill. The beef fajita was crunchy, and the chicken fajita was extremely dry. We ordered the mixed chicken and beef fajita for 2 and the portion size was small they just added a cut up sausage and some cheese quesadillas that we didnt even eat. They charged me $1.75 for a jalapeños for the chili con queso we didnt even eat. When I asked about obviously being overcharged she said "thats how it is sorry".
