Authentic local spot for great Mediterranean food at a good value. Food and vibe feels pretty local and homey! I ordered a lamb shawarma wrap and a Turkish latte. Portions are huge! I liked the seasoning on the lamb and the sauces in the pita. Would've preferred if the lamb and pita were hotter, but the flavor was still great. Turkish latte was great and well balanced - just watch out for the coffee grounds at the end.
Food that hits so close to home it brings tears of joy!!!🥹🔥 The best shawarma I’ve ever had in the US… Pickles and garlic sauce need to be added to thr chicken shawarma to get the full flavor and authenticity. الذ شورما دجاج ولحم
Probabaly one of the best shwarama in houston, definitely in the top 5. I got the beef shawarma I think it was 9$ after all was said and done. The only thing I can warn you about is they go heavy on the onion, so if you don't like as much onion let them know.
It’s our favorite place here on Houston! Coffee is delicious, the food is very healthy food and delicious, very very recommended 5/5✨😋
A great place for affordable, but delicious middle eastern food. There is a large variety of dishes served at the counter, and the atmosphere is casual. I really liked the chicken shawarma meat with fried cauliflower and zucchini.
I had heard a lot of great things about Arpi's, so I made the hour long trek down. Glad I did. I got the lamb shawarma wrap, cucumber salad and cauliflower. All were very fresh and well seasoned. The house made pita for the wrap was perfect, it held together well but was still thin and tender to the bite. Will definitely be making the trip again to try their other dishes.
Cafe opens at 8am, Restaurant opens at 9:30am on weekdays. On the corner end of the same shopping center Phoenicia is in. Some of the best Shawarma in Houston. The meat is tender and juicy. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. The service is friendly and precise. Highly recommend.
Always great! Great food and value. I have been eating here since it was just a little shop down the road. The chicken is moist and the beef is tender. I have never had a bad meal here. The only issue is when you eat it all you want more. Everyone is always friendly, service is quick and it’s great for dine in and take out. I was too excited to dig in that I forgot to take a picture!
Great gyro wrap, improved hummus, FANTASTIC dessert options, patio seating, convenient location... I'll be a new regular customer.
Food was of great quality and generous portions. Our server was incredibly helpful and polite. We were very pleasantly surprised with how attentive he was (wish I had taken his name).
I stopped in on my way out of town this morning and definitely felt I chose the right place for breakfast. The staff was so kind and they worked really well together. The food was great!
Hi! I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for our waitress, Brianna, during our visit to your restaurant. This was our first time visiting, and everything from the moment we arrived was truly wonderful. Brianna’s attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and fantastic suggestions made our experience even more enjoyable. Her recommendations were spot on, and she truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. If you're in the Houston area and looking for a great place to dine, I highly recommend this spot—and I hope Brianna will be your server! Thank you again for a memorable experience.
Nice little place by the minor league stadium. We were there when they first opened in the morning so there was no problem with parking or getting a table. But I feel parking might be limited if the area is busy. Good food, and large portions. I enjoyed my eggs thoroughly and they were cooked appropriately. Nice coffee. Would come back if I am ever in the area again.
I had a wonderful time at The toasted yolk cafe. The service was incredibly fast, and the dishes were both large and delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor. The portions were generous, making it great value for money. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for tasty, satisfying meals with excellent service!
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted at the door. They had just opened and only one other customer in the restaurant. We were immediately sat and given menus, silverware and starws. Mathew was our server and he is absolutely amazing. Attentive and friendly, made great suggestions and answered questions. A wonderful and conversationalist. We were immediately offered delicious coffee and hazelnut creamers (my husband's favorite) and I asked for chocolate milk. We looked at the menu. So many delicious choices, we needed a few extra minutes to decide. The food we chose was all unique and different from any breakfast places I've ever been to. I order the Alaskan eggs Benedict, my husband asked for chicken and waffles. My mother in law ordered the toasted yolk and my father in law ordered the brisket scrambled. By far the best breakfast I've had in Houston. Ever. The head cook came out to ask how the food was and we we're able to compliment his amazing skills. I can't remember his name but he did say he was from Detroit. The whole staff was friendly and courteous to us. One of the best breakfast experiences we've ever had. It was our first time coming and it surely won't be our last.
9/2023 1st time here. The Ladies' bathroom was clean. Our server was very nice & made sure we were taken care of. I was given donuts "churro style" with a side of caramel. The donuts were nice, warm & delicious. The food order was shrimp & grits, toasted yolk, & the West Coast Arnold. Our food was really good, no complaints there. I tried the cranberry mimosa, & the caramel macchiato ice coffee. MY ONLY issues was there was no fruit slice on my mimosa, & no caramel in my ice coffee (& they charged me extra for the caramel in the coffee.) But other than those two little things there were really no other big issues. I would highly recommend this place.

Great food, great service but often a wait because everyone knows how good the food is. Better to go during the week, weekends are so busy.
One of my favorites places for breakfast. \n\nGreat service, clean and food is really good.

Very delicious food. However, the servers could be more patient and passionate on the customers.
This was my first time visiting Arpis, even though I learned it’s been there for over 40 years. It is a nice traditional looking deli. The taste of the food was okay and quite a few options. I ordered a shawarma and it was just okay. The humus and Lebanese salad were a little bland. I am more used to going to Fadis. I was able to see Mrs. Arpi while I was there and she’s the cutest lady. I would come back mainly to support her. However, the food needed a little more taste in my opinion and the pitas could have been thicker and warm
We were traveling through Houston on our way to a cruise And looking for breakfast/brunch to start our day - part of the family wanted to go to Cracker Barrel because that’s all they know. Thankfully Cracker Barrel is always too slammed and would have taken hours just to get a table! So we went to Toasted Yolk as it was also nearby and thats where I wanted to go anyway! I put our name on the list and when we got there with our party of 14, we were seated pretty immediately. And it’s not like they were slow by any means, they were pretty busy but they made room and got us seated. When we got seated our waitress took our food and drink order and our food started coming out pretty quickly. We were all surprised. I got the crawfish omelette with a side pancake, my wife got the shrimp and grits, sister and her husband got the brisket tacos to share and the kids got numerous kids items. Everything was so tasty! Some real southern delicious food accompanied by some nice southern hospitality. My crawfish omelette was full of veggies jalapeños and crawfish. So good. The shrimp and grits was so flavorful, I think it was my favorite. Really tasty and a nice sized portion. The pancake was also really delicious and fluffy. We also got a Paloma which was nice and strong and really well made. Everything was tasty. The service was great. Everyone was a happy camper! Hard to do when there are 14 people haha. Don’t go to Cracker Barrel, make sure you go to Toasted Yolk Cafe!
We did not want to go to ihop or dennys... again... 3 meals and we spent $70 with a $12 tip. I recently had the pleasure of trying out a recommended breakfast spot that I would rate as a comfortable 4 out of 5 stars. It was a comfortable breakfast experience and a memorable one. From the inviting ambiance to the delicious food and friendly service, it had all the ingredients necessary for a satisfying start to the day.

Arpi’s Phoenicia Deli – A Decent Stop, But Not For Me I recently visited Arpi’s Phoenicia Deli after hearing some buzz about it, and while I can see why others might enjoy it, it just wasn’t the spot for me. The food was good—not bad by any means—but it didn’t blow me away either. I sampled a few different dishes, hoping something would really stand out, but unfortunately, most of them just didn’t hit the mark for my personal taste. And that’s coming from someone who loves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. I’ve had similar dishes at other restaurants that were more flavorful, better presented, and even more affordable. One thing I will say I was pleasantly surprised by: they had sugar-free baklava, which made me so happy! That was probably the highlight of my visit. It’s not often you find sugar-free options for desserts like that, and it was a nice touch for someone like me who tries to be mindful of sugar intake. So, kudos to them for that! The atmosphere of the restaurant, though, left a little to be desired. It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked—tables had leftover trays and trash on them, and it seemed like things weren’t being cleared promptly. That really impacted the overall experience for me. The customer service was okay—not bad, not great. The staff were polite enough, but nothing really stood out in terms of hospitality or attentiveness. All in all, I think Arpi’s has its place and could be worth checking out if you’re curious or if this kind of food is new to you. But for someone who’s had a lot of experience with Mediterranean food, and who knows what they love, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression. I’m glad I gave it a try, but I wouldn’t personally go back.
While the food was decent, the service was lacking. Both the Hostess that seated us and our server both seemed so bothered to even be there; any interaction seemed like a chore to our server. Strange menu choices and a lack of customization that make it hard for picky eaters and little ones.
The food is excellent especially the smoked brisket tacos. A bit pricey. Only problem i have is their coffee it is some of the worst I've drink, being a retired truck driver, I drink mines straight black no sugar even putting some creamer in did not help. So I order orange juice. I hope they fix the coffee it would be close to 5 stars for me, coffee is the breakfast. Very nice people. One of the great things about them they respond to just about all their reviews. Great business mind and care.
Good breakfast place. It felt a little hole in the wall and sometimes those are the best places! I enjoyed my meal overall. Food was good. I had a dirty coffee cup and a dirty fork so that kinda dampens things a bit. I also had to wipe the table and seat down. They were both pretty gross!
Nice little spot. I've been meaning to try this place for a long time now. Not bad at all. Good food. Not horrible service, but it can be a little better. Not crazy about the location, we went on a Sunday morning, and they start to get busy by 10 or 11 am. It's probably a wait time. I'll go back to try it again. Pancakes were HUGE, but not the best for me. Too sweet for me.
I ordered 2 chicken shawarma wraps and one chicken shawarma plate. It was the driest chicken I had in a long time. Also I specifically asked no garlic sauce in the wraps. I wanted the yogurt sauce instead. They put about one teaspoonful in each wrap. Seriously? I had to add ranch dressing at home to make it edible at the very least. Very disappointed. A waste of my hard-earned $30.00.
I’m not sure what happened today. I’ve been to this place many times, and my experience has always been great... the food and the service have consistently been excellent. But today was different. I ordered two of the same wrap with two different sides to go. For some reason, the wraps came out completely different: one had hot sauce and tahini, and the other had neither. We didn’t specify anything because we assumed the sauces would be on the side for a to-go order, but that wasn’t the case. There were no sauces on the side, and it felt like we just got whatever they decided to serve. I really hope this was a one-off. I’d hate to see a place with so much tradition start to slip.
I've been coming here for 20+ years and for the first time I was DISAPPOINTED with the rude service. The lady taking our order in the line, didn't care to ask us what else we wanted and walked away, so asked the cashier lady. The cashier had a bad attitude, threw our grilled veggies in a bowl. Then told her twice we wanted cups for water but she still didn't care to hand us any. Not sure what's going on. I hope it was just a one off. Still my fav shawarmas in Houston but they need to do better.
I RARELY have an experience in which I give a bad review, but having spent $50 on less than half eaten meals is very disappointing. We ate the same plates, and had the same experience (thus 1 plate shown). The young African American lady who served us was amazing - she was very accommodating, considering she had to take our plates back to be reheated. The orders came out lightning fast, which resulted in cold food (eggs with cheese on top unmelted, hashbrowns chilly to touch as if they were pulled from a fridge and reheated). So, she brings the plates back to the table and although hot, the hashbrowns were then greasy and eggs were flavorless. Sausage was fine. French toast 1 slice $4 but was good. Caramel Macchiato separate charge for caramel (head scratch). Oh well. Had to get back on the highway so we just paid and noted it as “never again”. We were 1 of 3 groups in the entire establishment and it was early in the morning. We’re always willing to wait as long as it’s hot and fresh.

The food is good, but it’s always left uncovered. The employees constantly talk with customers right over the food without wearing masks, which is very unhygienic. They really need to pay more attention to food safety.
Absolutely one of the worst in town! Food is not fresh and the baby fish (small sardines) was terrible! It was pre cooked and reheated when ordered! Terrible will not go back there!!
Stay away from this place! My friend and I decided to grab a bite here, hoping for a delicious meal. We ordered chicken curry and a shawarma plate. Let me tell you, that chicken curry tasted like anything but chicken! And to top it off, the shawarma plate came without any salad or tomato. Can you believe it? As if that wasn't enough, they even tried to overcharge us for the shawarma plate. Thankfully, we caught their mistake and they corrected it, but if we hadn't been paying attention, they would've taken our money without a second thought. The lady working there was incredibly slow and had trouble understanding us. Needless to say, we will never set foot in this place again!
Came this morning around 10:05am and ordered a wrap. I asked if I could add chicken to the beef and told them I would pay extra since I am adding extra meat. The guy told me no, and insisted that they cannot mix it. I just wanted extra meat..then when I received the order the salad was old. The cauliflower was old and cold..and my sandwich was cold that I couldn’t even eat it. This would be my first and last time coming here. Terrible service and terrible food.
They have gotten cheap! I have been going to Arpis for the last 15 years. They used to put all the sauces and pita out for everyone to enjoy unlimited! Now they charge if you want one extra??? Not the mention the shawarma wraps are smaller. Service has always had an attitude but we let it slide since the food was good. Now we are fed up with they’re cheapness
