This is our family’s go-to restaurant. We love both the food and the service. Our favorite dishes are the pepper lobster and the shaking beef—always flavorful and perfectly prepared. It’s one of the oldest Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown, and the service is consistently warm and respectful.
Good 7 course beef meal. Always a fun dinner party type meal. I made 6 spring rolls yummy!
We were planning to eat at NoriNori but didn’t have reservations and ended up at this gem. We had a nice dinner and enjoyed the music on a Saturday. We started with the spring rolls and soft shell crab appetizers. Then ordered the sizzling beef, beef pho and a vegetarian dish recommended by the waiter.
I love their lunch specials. My favorite order are general Joe chicken, salted toasted squiz, and triple seafood with vegetables. They are so cheap and delicious 😋. I also love their 7 courses of beef with wrapping Rice paper. The grill whole catfish is the best in houston. Highly recommend for lunch specials here and authentic vietnamese food in dinner. I always have a great time and delicious food.
Great Food and Atmosphere - Inside is very spacious with tables spaced apart. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We usually order for the grill. The meat and seafood is marinated well. I recommend ordering the fried fish. The portion large, flavorful, and goes great with the grill meats. I would definitely be coming back.
Really good food. Space used quite intelligently to accommodate for the COVID-19 social distancing recommendations. The food was delicious! I enjoyed everything that we ordered. From the salad, to the soft shell crab to the 7 meat sampler. Superb! Will definitely be cominh back.
We stopped by for lunch and the prices on the lunch special are so good! The food is flavorful and so delicious! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the waiter who helped us was kind of rude and even made us set our own table because “he didn’t want to do it.” Other than that I recommend!
Jasmine is a classic staple of the Asian food scene with the ‘traditional’ 7 course beef meal. On todays occasion, we opted for the catfish, beef plates. Since its cook the way you like it, and it’s cooked right in front of you, you’re going to be walking away with smell of all the foods that was cooked in your clothes. All the foods were tasty. The toughest part about this spot is the greasy feel to the floors where you walk. It’s like ice skating with your shoes since you cant get a good grip with the oils in the air and floors baked in. Other than that, no other complaints. Catfish was large and with the fresh vegetables wrapped in the rice paper with the smelly pineapple shrimp paste, made the day right.
The dining room is huge and spacious. We came in on a Sunday evening around 5:30. The place was not very full but the servers greeted us right away. We ordered the cook at your table lemongrass beef and shrimp meal as well as some cooked dishes. Everything tasted wonderful. The raw beef and shrimp looked fresh and the marinade was delicious. There was even live music. There is also ample parking. The only complaint is that the service got a bit slow towards the end of our meal so we had to flag down a server for the check.
The restaurant was spacious and ample spacing between tables. The food was served hot and fresh ingredients. We had a specialty of using the griddle at the table getting a combination of proteins beef, shrimp and squid with rice wrappers with fresh vegetables and herbs. Our party also had ma po tofu with minced pork , Hunan beef and steam tilapia fish. The servers were slammed as Saturday night has live entertainment. Quite the music and entertainment. Relaxing atmosphere. I will encourage my Vietnam vet friends to come here and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. I marked down one star as restrooms were not recently serviced. Great place to come for an evening.
Came in Sunday night. Live music and singer was a little too loud. Took waiters awhile to give us menus and ordering. We just ordered only 3 meats of 7 Bo bay mon and canh chua ca. Meats were small portion for 4 people to share. Had to ask for more veggies for the spring rolls. Typical Chinatown service 🙄. Apparently now they charge $6 for the white noodles to make your spring rolls. Won’t be returning.
For a seven course meal for 16.95, yes it's a great deal. In terms of taste, I would rate this a 3 because it was just alright. We did family style with the beef 7 course, fish 7 course, and caramelized fish. 7 course fish was better than beef in my opinion. But the congee that came with it was extremely fishy. Caramelized fish was fishy too. When I say fishy, it seems like the fish isn't cleaned well. I've had these dishes at home and at other restaurants, but it isn't the same due to the scent.
Never ever coming back to this place again. This is what you get for a $56 lobster plate. Never have I seen lobster this dry. This place was dead with only 2 tables occupied, us being one of them and the waitress only stopped by once. Food was bad, and service was equally bad, we had to get up to get utensils, and sauce.
Came for Vietnamese bbq which you cook at your own table with make it yourself spring rolls. The food was off, did not taste fresh, the service was non existent. I ordered a thai tea that tasted horrible. There were singers singing music on stage that I couldn’t understand on stage that set up the whole weird vibe of this place and it’s food. First and last time coming here. Highly recommend going to a different Vietnamese restaurant that’s more welcoming with better tasting food.
Do yourself a favor, and spend your time and money elsewhere. Made a bad decision today for lunch and this was it. It’s been a while since I’ve been back and since Saigon Pagaloc (similar restaurant) is closed on Monday’s, I settled for this. Upon arriving, I walked into an empty restaurant and no workers to be found. It says the store opens at 11.. I was there around 11:45. Stood there for a good 5 mins before an employee came out and sat me. TThis place had a very obnoxious stench. Very vinegary smell (sour). Unpleasant nonetheless. Dark inside as well, they didn’t have much lighting. The table was super icky and the condiments were overwhelming dirty. So once my friend came, we proceeded to order. Eggrolls for appetizers and sizzling beef for main entree. Eggrolls didn’t come out until we were almost done cooking all the beef.. Odd. When the beef came out, the portion size was ridiculous! Super tiny compared to Saigon’s. Same with the veggies, 2-3 lettuce and a few sprigs of mint? C’’mon now. And the color of the beef was off putting. Greyish. Seeing that, we made sure we cooked it well done just to avoid any tummy problems later. Besides food being mediocre, service was worst. I asked for extra ice for my “ice tea” but server filled it up with more tea and no ice.. top of that, we had asked for extra veggies since the first basket was wimpy. Waitress came back with an new plate and wait for it.. just placed it right on top of our old veggies while we were still trying to finish eat it! Could of easily just placed it aside since we had plenty of space on the table. Absolutely absurd dude. I just can’t believed we wasted lunch on this filthy place.
