Oooh, how I absolutely enjoyed Jordyn’s beautiful ambiance, amazing customer service, and soulful curated dishes! Every bit tastes like home—reminded me of the good old days, the ones where you’re surrounded by family and friends laughing over childhood memories. There’s so much love here, in the people, in the kitchen, and deep inside the music. My family and I loved every single moment! We’ll certainly be returning
So my bestie 💓 took me here for my birthday and omg the food was delicious 😋 the drinks were good but could of been a little stronger for me. Perfect place for a girls outing or date night. Small setting but the chandeliers make it feel a little elegant ✨️.. I would definitely visit this place again when I get back in town🤗 . DEFINITELY had a super waiter very attentive to our services rendered thanks Zamorian🤗🥰
This place is it when you won’t some good soul food. C J is the best her service is awesome she going to keep you laughing and going to make sure she answers any questions you have and solve any problems you have . The food is good the menu is great they added knew things so it’s so much to try I will be back for the third time. A RAISE FOR C J WE ENJOYED OUR SELF TONIGHT!!!!!!
As someone visiting from New York, I can honestly say Jordyn Soul Food gave me a taste of real Southern hospitality and flavor! The food was incredible—seasoned to perfection, fresh, and full of soul. I had the Smothered Turkey leg, mac and cheese, and yams, and every bite was a reminder of why I came to Houston in the first place. The vibe was welcoming, the staff was super friendly, and the portions were generous. You can tell everything is made with love. This spot needs to be on everyone’s must-visit list if you’re in Houston—especially if you’re a foodie like me traveling from out of town. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the city!
I came here on a late night spontaneous date by myself. I was able to walk in and sit at the bar, but they do have tables and booths. I was craving soul food and although I don’t think it’s as good as my granny’s cooking it hit the spot. My bartender Blue was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great service. The DJ was good, lots of good r&b. Drink was superb, the fish was good, everything was hot and fresh. Only thing I wasn’t really impressed with were the sides, the Mac was super cheesy but I had to add some pepper, and the cabbage was ok. Other than that, great place for it to be 1am.
The food was absolutely worth the wait! My order took a little extra time, but CJ went above and beyond by checking in on me and making sure everything was taken care of. Her customer service was outstanding—she made me feel valued and taken care of the whole time. And when the food arrived, it was amazing! The jerk snapper was seasoned perfectly, the cabbage was fresh and flavorful, and the red snapper was cooked just right. I’ll definitely be back! FYI: parking is $10
Everything was a 10/10 once you get pass the host and her friend giving dirty looks . We had the pleasure of being serviced by CJ. The best ! Highly recommended. Customer service was on point ! Just like the food . It was fulfilling … we had to get to go plates . The manager Craig came and introduced himself and addressed some of our concerns. I really appreciate that . Thank you Craig and Cj
I love this place, this was my first of many. The food was amazing, but I have to come back to try the rest. The catfish was bomb, crispy baby!!! The pot roast empandas 10/10. My bartenders Tiana and Erica were amazing, attentive and also checking in I loved it!! Great atmosphere , definitely stop by.
Why is the food so good??? Why? Delicious food, amazing service, beautiful ambience, I mean I could go on & on describing my experience at Jordyn’s Soul Cafe. I ordered the catfish, greens, yams & Mac, my date had the jerk lamb cops, and everything else pictured in the video. The catfish stole the show, it was good & crispy, the edges were crisp and middle was fluffy. The yams were so doggone, I took them home with me as a souvenir. I needed to devour those in the comfort of my own home. Imma tell you now, we will be back. That’s all we’ve been talking about since we stepped out of the restaurant. Even the waiter said we’d be back. She knew. 😂 We might be in there tomorrow. I need to try that Peach Cobbler!
The food was absolutely top-tier my Server chance was absolutely amazing helping me order my food. Tell her it was my first time and she gave me a ride together. The cornbread is amazing. It’s worth every bit of the five dollars that I spent fresh and hot and warm straight out of the oven. the lamb chops were well seasoned and flavorful asparagus cooked just right macaroni cheese in every pull The music 10 out of 10 beautiful R&B Florence throwing out the entire restaurant nice ambience seating very upscale, valet parking. Great location definitely will be putting this on my list to visit every time I come to Houston.
Tried Jordyn’s Soul Cafe for the first time last night good vibes good food CJ was our server and the service was amazing all the staff are helpful my only complaint is I don’t like that they add gratuity to a table of two. I understand why they do it because so many people come out to eat and do tip, but that’s a must when I go out.
We visited this place to celebrate my cousin’s 21st birthday, and let me tell you, it’s incredibly hard to impress me when it comes to soul food. But this place is an exception! Everything on the menu was absolutely phenomenal. My favorite dish was the infamous spaghetti egg rolls. I know, I know, spaghetti egg rolls, but trust me, they were delicious. I had the jerk chicken and the yams and macaroni. All delicious. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and the salmon egg rolls were equally tasty. The hookah was also a hit, and the drinks were refreshing. The ambiance was fun and exciting, making it the perfect place to go with good vibes. If you’re looking for a cool place to go with great food and a lively atmosphere, this is definitely the place for you. And let me tell you, everything on the plate was absolutely phenomenal. You can tell that they take their cooking seriously, and it shows in every bite. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience.
Overall a great first time experience. We got sat rather quickly and the server attended to us shortly after. We ordered two appetizers but they were out of one. The jerk tacos came out pretty quickly. They had good flavor but the shells were a little burnt. They are slightly overpriced imo. I ordered the chicken and waffles. They both had a great flavor and a good value for the price. My friend order the catfish and grits. It was a pretty decent portion and it had a delicious flavor. They had a great variety of options but could use more brunch items. I would like to come back and try some more menu items.
First time and I must say Jordyn's did not disappoint. In fact I have to immediately point out that the food was absolutely amazing and the collard greens are the best I've had in Houston. Highly recommend this midtown gem. Lounge, live music, good service, clean restrooms. What more could you ask for. Head on over for Happy hour or brunch.
It’s a mandatory valet. Which is fine. They do take cash, card and tap which is good. You definitely should have a reservation. They are doing good business and it’s the only way to ensure a table. I wouldn’t show up without one. I saw people getting turned away. I had one and was seated practically right away. I came on a Sunday night. They have two sides which seem to be different. The right side which is the bar and hookah side and the left side which is more chill. I was on that side. Music was good. And at a volume to where you can still have conversations. There was a lady taking pictures in a grand for money, which was cool. They $20 a pic. Nice pics, she gives you a good variety to choose from. I was celebrating a birthday. Our waitress was Bee 🐝 and she was amazing. She did everything to make my time feel special and accommodated every need. She was very personable, knowledgeable and a fun overall helpful, down to earth personality. She kept us served and having a good time from start to finish. We loved her. If you ever have to ask, the food was very good. Whoever is back there put both feet in it, if you know what I mean. Our party had the catfish, salmon, oxtails, Mac and cheese, yams and different vegetables. Everyone was more than satisfied with there food. I also had the peach cobbler which I enjoyed. The portions are good and I was able to bring some home for lunch the next day. Close to finishing that manager personally came and spoke with us and asked us about our experience. This was special to us because it really showed that he really is committed to the satisfaction of his patrons. He spent a good amount of time connecting and ensuring that we had a good time. It’s a family business and it shows. We are definitely coming back to try more dishes. Thanks for sharing your business with us.
Dinner and service were absolutely wonderful! It was our first time dining here tonight, and we truly enjoyed every part of the experience. A big shout out to our server, Amarion, who was fantastic from start to finish. His recommendations were spot on and his attention to detail made our evening even better. We started with the Salmon Alfredo Rolls as our appetizer, which were delicious. For our entrees, we had the short ribs, mac and cheese, and oxtail fried rice. Everything was full of flavor! The oxtail fried rice was a little on the salty side, but we didn’t mention it to our server. Based on how attentive and thoughtful Amarion was, we know he would have gone above and beyond to make it right. My husband decided we’d just add a bit of white rice when we got home to tone down the saltiness because the flavor itself was really good. I ordered rice and peas as one of my sides, but the kitchen had just sold out. Amarion kindly recommended the collard greens instead. They weren’t quite like my grandma’s (lol) but still tasty, with a nice little kick of spice. What REALLY stood out was that Amarion surprised me with a small sample of the Remaining rice and peas. That thoughtful gesture meant so much and showed how much he cares about his guests. And the rice and peas were absolutely FIRE! Everything we had was delicious, and the service made it even better. Just a heads up, the restaurant automatically adds a 20% gratuity, which seems to be the new norm, and honestly, it was well deserved. We’re already looking forward to coming back!
This was my first time coming here and will not be my last!!!! First of all the food was so seasoned!! For appetizer I got the yams , Mac n cheese eggroll , & for dinner I got the lamb chops, collards, mash potatoes, and the best WAFFFLLESSSS!!!! The waffle was so damn good best waffle I had in my life! The food was piping hot and stayed hot the entire time I was eating!! I wish I could’ve showed yall my food before but clearly it was good because I demolished it!! 10/10! (But there is no refills on shirley temple LOL) I highly recommend making a reservation before coming though because they are definitely packed!!!! I can’t wait to come back I think the food has crack in it. LOL
My experience at Jordyn’s Soul Café was beyond amazing. This was our first visit, and the food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I’m truly impressed—and it takes a lot to impress me. Our server, Amia, was wonderful: very professional and extremely helpful with menu recommendations. If you’re visiting Houston, Texas, this is a must-eat spot!
Brandon!!!!! The chef!! That jerk red snapper is still heavy on my mind, simply wonderful! We also had the oxtail mac n cheese that was too freaking good. The vibe, the ladies working the bar and waitress were sweethearts, the music was on point..I cant brag enough on this place. We went around 4pm and parked in the back and at that time there was no charge for parking but I did see a sign for $10 parking was put up when we left, so just a heads up. Otherwise,if you want well seasoned, perfected jerk seasoning on a damn good fried WHOLE snapper this is the place! Oxtails so tender like they had been simmering since B.C. layered over that cheesy mac n cheese was a dream come true. We never even picked up the salt and pepper shakers, there was no need. The yams were like my granny use to make too, lawd God!! I had the mango lemonade as well with extra mango flavoring which really set my meal off for me. I'm just happy I found me a new little spot. Yall go support Jordyn's and if you love your food, ask for Brandon, the chef, to poke his head out and give that man his props cause he's back there doing what needs to be done!
It was so good, I seriously want to gate keep! Food, Atmosphere, Service, Menu Variety, Location, Music selection (at a good conversation level). Oh, and my drink was strong. I’m not a fan of auto gratuity, but I added a few bucks, because the server deserved a bigger tip. I rarely go to this kind of place twice, but I will absolutely be back. No gimmicks just a great business model. 10/10
Jordyn’s Cafe on Montrose is a gem—plain and simple. From the very first bite, it was clear this place knows how to do comfort food right. I started with the spicy buffalo wings, and they were phenomenal—perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and just the right amount of heat. For my main dish, I had the smothered turkey wings with yams and collard greens, and it was everything I hoped for and more. The turkey wings were tender and seasoned beautifully, the yams were rich and comforting, and the collard greens tasted like they’d been simmering with care all day. On top of the amazing food, Mahogany, the bartender, truly elevated the experience. She was attentive, friendly, and clearly takes pride in what she does—excellent service that makes you want to stay a little longer. I’ll say it plainly: I’ll definitely be back. Jordyn’s Cafe has officially earned a spot on my short list of favorite places in Houston. If you’re anywhere near Montrose and want great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe, don’t miss this spot.
Best southern/ soul food I’ve had in Houston thus far. Despite the prices, the portions are enormous. We had the soul rolls, beef short ribs, candied yams, lobster mac and cheese, and cornbread. The desserts were excellent as well: peach cobbler and banana pudding—incredible southern homemade food in HTX. Drinks were good as well! You must try it.
From outside- in the area is a bit cramped there is valet parking for 10 bucks which isn't bad but I found a parking spot not too far down the street. As we approached, I noticed the outside seating with umbrella canopies was a nice touch. Upon entering, I saw the black and red interior which gave me an "in the club" vibe that I hadn't felt in two decades. It was nostalgic. The music was two notches too loud but the era and genre was on point which elevated my nostalgia making it tolerable. Our waitress was Rachel and she was amazing. She was the best waitress that I've had in the history of waitresses. She had a very good spirit and everything she said felt real and genuine. Give her a raise. The food was outstanding. Everything was delicious no complaints. I was so hungry I burned my mouth on those wonderful piping hot, sweet and sticky yams but I guess that was my fault. The Ox tails? Perfect. My wife had the catfish: Perfect. The lamb chops? Although so far there's only one place that I can say had better chops and that was a spot in Chicago, but other than those, these were the best I've tasted. Jerked, tender and juicy. Fabulous. Everything was fabulous fabulous fabulous. We even had our pictures taken which again influenced my " in the club " vibes. A great place to visit, great to be around grown folks and it's great that it's black owned. I'm glad we parked down the block because I was stuffed and the walk helped loosen up the tightness. An enjoyable experience with pictures to prove it.
I loved this restaurant and our waiter Amia was awesome. She was fast with service and got everyone order right. The food came out fast and was delicious I would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back. But when and if yall go. Please ask for Amia to be your waiter. FYI JORDYN can cook. lol 😂
I had an amazing experience at Jordyn’s Soul Cafe! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the food was incredible. My server, Keke, truly made the experience exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Her energy and professionalism added so much to the overall vibe and made me feel genuinely taken care of. The food was delicious, flavorful, and clearly made with love. You can tell this place takes pride in both their service and their meals. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend stopping by—especially if you’re lucky enough to be served by Keke!
Had a great experience at Jordyn’s. The food is delicious and got some love in it! I had the Jerk Cornish Hen with the greens and yams. We also had the soul rolls, wings and the pot roast empanadas 🔥. We ask to meet the chef - we took the time to let him know it was good. Also met the owner’s brother and he was gracious to our table. I’ll be back
The atmosphere is vibrant. We had reservations and we were seated immediately but quickly realized that we needed to be moved to the dining room side with a lower music and a less club feel. We were quickly accommodated...THANK YOU! Our waitress, Lay, was amazing. This was our first time in and she answered every single question and gave recommendations. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! I am a pretty good cook and was truly impressed...which is not easy to do :) We had roast empanadas-delicious; catfish-excellent; oxtails-tender and well seasoned; greens and mac & cheese-very good. We will definitely be back!
I had an amazing experience at Jourdan Soul Café in Houston. From the moment I walked in, I loved the aesthetics — the black, gold, and red color scheme gave the space a classy yet vibrant vibe. The bartender, Tiana, was absolutely phenomenal. She was very knowledgeable and made me the perfect drink — it tasted great, looked beautiful, and the conversation was just as good. Super friendly and welcoming energy. Our server, Haley, recommended the catfish, and baby… it did not disappoint. The food came out steaming hot, fresh, and at the perfect temperature. Everything was flavorful and clearly made with care. What really stood out was that the owner was present, came over to speak with us, and was incredibly friendly. He shared that they’re planning to open a location in Dallas soon, which has me super excited. I will definitely be a customer when they come to Dallas. Overall, great food, great drinks, great service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend — this place is doing it right! ✨🍸🍽️
The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the people were very professional and friendly. Our waiter Amia was awesome and attended us with all our needs. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I want to come back again.
This was our first time dining at Jordyn's but it won't be our last! Welcoming atmosphere, the food was great, but our waitress Amia was ABSOLUTELY, HANDS DOWN chefs kiss💋! She did her thing, the sweetest most delightful young lady! We'll definitely be back!
I recently dined at Jordyn's Soul Café and had the absolute best Catfish & Grits for brunch hands down one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve had in a long time! Amarion crafted the sweetest, most delicious cocktails with so much care and personality truly a standout! Noir, one of the managers, was warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating, which made the experience even better. The food, service, and vibe were all top-tier. I’m already looking forward to returning in the near future. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed a wonderful date night at Jordyn’s Soul Café. The food and service were exceptional from start to finish. Chancie greeted us warmly and treated us with genuine respect—her knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot on. The décor and ambiance were beautifully curated, creating an inviting and elegant dining experience. This will definitely become one of our go-to restaurants. Highly recommend starting with the salmon egg rolls.
I really enjoyed eating here! The food was exceptional. I had the oxtails with grits which I usually steer away from because other establishments have made them too salty them but these oxtails were seasoned perfectly. Chancie was a great server! She knew the menu well and gave us some great recommendations as well. If you’re not a fan of oxtails the lamb chops were delicious as well.
I am from Louisiana, cooking good food comes from the heart and soul. I started learning to cook when I was 8 years old. I know great food when I see it and taste it. Jordyn's is your best "stop and chill" Soul Food Lounge and Cafe!! Everything is well prepared, seasoned to perfection, tender, sweet and so mouth-watering! Jerk Hen, pot roast empenadas, soul rolls, smothered turkey meatballs, yams, mac, try them ALL!! Hospitality10, Atmosphere 10 (the place is grown & sophisticated), Bar 10, I had to meet the chef!! My family enjoyed this place!! C'est si bon!
Whoa! Where do I start? First, I have to say that Rachel is so very awesome!!! She is very friendly, attentive and she anticipated our needs before even asking her for anything. Second, the food was DELICIOUS! From a Mississippi boy, this food was like being home and it came to our table hot and fresh. I can’t say too many positive things about this restaurant. It was a great ending for my Birthday!!! We will definitely be back very soon!
Sade was PHENOMENAL! Her energy was unmatched and instantly set the tone for an amazing experience. We had a party of four, and every single person enjoyed their meal. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. Starting with the salmon Alfredo egg rolls chef’s kiss! The catfish was fried to perfection, the lamb chops were perfectly seasoned, and the oxtails fell right off the bone. The oxtail fried rice was full of flavor and did not disappoint. And if you’re wondering about the sides you can’t go wrong with the mac and cheese, yams, collard greens, and cornbread. This entire experience was top-tier, and Sade’s energy and service made it even better. If you get Sade, consider yourself lucky!
I went to day to celebrate my best Birthday for lunch. It had just a great relaxing atmosphere there. Our Server Jill was just was outstanding! For lunch I had Jerk Chicken wings, Cornbread Dressing,Stringbeans,Mac and Cheese, Cornbread and Mango Lemonade ! It Food was Seasoned, it was served Hot out Of the Kitchen not a lot of wait time. Just 👌. Great Spot for Brunch on the weekends. I checked out the Menu for that me and my crew Will be coming our for that soon! This would be a Great First Date place, or to come Out and Chill with the your special Someone. It is a lounge after dark You may need a reservation. Just Call to see. Come Check it out! This was my first coming here I will coming back! This place is A Ten Out Of Ten for me.
My daughter and her friend seen this place on TicTok and wanted to try it out! It was my friend Birthday as well, so we went, had no reservation and was greeted by a very vibrant hostess! They were booked but had seating outside! It was a beautiful day already, so we didn't hesitate! From the moment we got to Jordyn's, to sum this up, to the moment Valet retrieved our vehicle was top tier!! I have absolutely nothing bad to say of our experience! Everyone was so nice and welcoming, the music, the food, the atmosphere was awesome! The drinks, oh my, the drinks! I had 1 and was done! The liquor was liqoring!! 🤣🤣 Well done!! 👈
I seen this place on Instagram and I wanted to try it out. Our waitress was very kind and sweet! I ordered an Amornai Ammerrto Sour and my male counterpart ordered a Jordyn’s Mermaid Water. I had to send my drink back because my Ammerrto sour tasted like a Hennessy Side car. She brought me another drink and it tasted a little better, but it did not taste like an Ammerrto Sour. The other issue was we ordered at the same time, but his orders (food, and drinks) came out a lot later than mine. Other than that I had I great time. My food was very good, and he ate everything on his plate. Our tab was over $140, 20% gratuity is included for 2 or more people.
I was excited when I heard about this establishment so I said this would be a fantastic opportunity for a date night. The food was good and great portions. The drinks were very nice. If you want good soul food and a laidback vibe this a great spot. They have valet parking at the back. 2 bars and seating in front and the back. We didn’t need reservations for the time we went it was early evening but it’s was getting crowded fast. Would I go back meh I don’t know but it’s a good experience
The food was delicious! We had jerk tacos, wings, pot roast empanadas, and the salmon jerk Alfredo. The drinks were also good. Our server Rachel McCall, was sweet and accommodating as can be. It was storming Friday night when we arrived, but the valet had large umbrellas for us to walk into the restaurant. Definitely a nice touch! I was disappointed that for the price of the food, the restaurant used black paper napkins rather than cloth napkins. I could also tell the wait staff may be new to the serving industry, because there were a lot of them just standing around talking amongst one other. The food was also served as it was ready, so my party of 4 all received meals at different times. Overall, it was a good experience and I would visit again. I realize the restaurant is new, so I look forward to it only getting better.
Overall, the meal had some highs and lows. My friend found the food flavorful and enjoyed the wings, though they appeared a bit over-charred. The oxtails were acceptable but lacked tenderness, and the roast beef was unfortunately tough. The empanadas could use more seasoning, while the yams stood out as very good. The mac and cheese was average at best. Considering the quality, I did not feel the meal justified the price.
I came here because I LOVE SOULFOOD plus TikTok suggested I visit. We ordered oxtails, turkey, white rice, mac & cheese, candid yams, greens, cabbage, cornbread and drinks. The customer service was an A, our waiter was very informative, he knew the menu well, the drinks were top tier and the food was fresh, and tasty. I could tell it was made from scratch. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and the food; minus the cornbread and greens. Everything else was like a kiss from Heaven. I'll definitely be returning ✨️
The ambiance is sexy, swanky, and warm. So this would be cool for date night or even girls' night. The food was amazing, but I did have to send my lobster and grits back because the lobster was overcooked. However, the fish I received as a replacement was seasoned, flaky, and crunchy. The chicken wings were also seaseoned to perfection. The margarita flight was delicious and strong. I also had another drink, but the menu doesn't show the name. I was not happy that the full menu wasn't available due to a busy night before. But I am going back for the deviled eggs and tacos. Oh, and I enjoyed the music and free hookah on the patio. Our waitress Freddy was cool, but we had to ask for things repeatedly. So that is the only reason service gets a 3. Everyone else, including the owner, was amazing.
Made reservations here for my boyfriend birthday the only thing I didn’t like was you couldn’t be seated unless your party arrived. So we ended up just eating at the bar. I also thought the dress code would’ve been more an upscale dress code, but it wasn’t more of a lounge eating place. I enjoyed the food I ordered lamp chops, greens, and candy yams. My boyfriend ordered the jerk wings, and broccolini.
I truly enjoyed my experience at Jordyn’s! I went on a Saturday at 6:30. It wasn’t crowded, service was fast, the waiter was attentive, and the owner was very friendly. I had the Jerk Lamb Chops, Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese, with a piece of cornbread. I really didn’t like the greens or Mac and cheese. They both lacked flavor. The lamb chops were DELICIOUS! Cornbread was really good as well. I did order chicken fried rice to go and OMG. It was so good. Will definitely be back!
I made a same day reservation but ended up taking an available seat at the bar because I ended up arriving an hour early. Jess was great! I had no wait time at all. She greeted me, took my order and made sure I was good. ⭐️ I ended up ordering takeout. 🥡 My deviled eggs 🥚 😈 were okay. My salmon and Mac and cheese were phenomenal! Oh so good. 🍽️ My spaghetti 🍝 had entirely way too much pepper on it. Unfortunately that was all I tasted. I thought I ordered peach cobbler 🍑 but it was just a glob of gunk. 😔 I was very disappointed in that “dessert”. Valet parking is $10. 🅿️ Not really my type of scene. Very sports bar/game day vibes.
We came to Houston for a bachelorette trip with a group of 11, and this place came highly recommended. We arrived expecting good food and great service. Our waitress, Sieia was truly a 10/10. She was attentive, kind, and incredibly patient with our large group. I have absolutely no complaints about her, and she is the main reason for the 5 stars. She handled everything with professionalism and care, and we really appreciated her throughout the entire experience. However, what the entire group was very unhappy with was the behavior from management, specifically the kitchen chef/manager. She had short black hair and a very poor attitude. At one point, she came out with our food but handed it to our server instead of bringing it to us, while we clearly saw her personally serving other tables. On top of that, she repeatedly made faces and displayed a negative attitude. If there is an issue with a staff member, that is something that should be handled privately and professionally, not in front of guests. Witnessing that kind of behavior was extremely unprofessional and honestly uncomfortable for us to watch. It was upsetting because our waitress did not deserve to be treated that way, especially after working so hard to take care of our large group. This kind of behavior reflects poorly on leadership and the overall management of the restaurant. I hope this is addressed because it certainly left a negative impression on our group. Not only that our food is as wrong and late and we don’t even get some items so this needs to be fixed and looked into.
After seeing mixed reviews, I finally tried it for myself. I expected more it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I had the catfish with two sides. The fish was okay, I wish it was fried harder. I didn't like the mac and cheese and the cabbage was okay. The other pics were my friends plates. One friend had turkey meatballs...I think she said they were bland. Oh yeah, the drinks were great...I had a Caribbean lemonade (I think). Oh, be aware they is a charge for parties of "two" or more. I would try them again and maybe order something else. We went on Saturday at 12pm, and there was no wait. The waitress was attentive amd helpful also.
This restaurant was shared on Instagram so we decided to check it out. The food was excellent. We got salmon egg rolls which was very very delicious. We also got the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer that was delicious as well. We ordered a lemon drop and a Cartier Caribbean lemonade. The drinks were very flavorful and tasty. For the main entree we ordered the crab fried rice and the portion was huge enough to share with 4 people. We also ordered the broccolini but broccoli came out instead and cornbread. The cornbread was moist and delicious. They were both really good. The service wasn’t bad but wasn’t that great. My biggest gripe was they do not tell you that the gratuity is included already for a party of 2 or more. They come to the table with the machine to pay and automatically tell you the total with service gratuity included. I did not know because I paid cash so they got double the gratuity. Our server never said the gratuity was included even though I mentioned getting her more cash for the gratuity. So beware of that even if you pay with card.
First, TIANNA made the experience our best restaurant experience my mother and I have had since we can remember. She is beautiful inside and out. She made sure to get our service started, and apologized for any delays because they were finishing up with brunch service. We had heard the food was on the salty side so she made sure our entrees came on a bed of rice separate from the 2 sides. The food was good. The baked macaroni was very good, tasted homemade. The jerk red snapper would have been the bomb but it is a bit salty. The oxtails weren't too salty. The cabbage was well.seasoned, not too salty. Tianna brought us soft drinks on her, she was extra attentive because I had a big eye patch on since I just had eye surgery, and told us about a recent experience she had. She really made the experience for us, we hugged and she made sure I got out safely since I was half blind, lol. I would go back, and ask for her, she made us feel like family.
At the time of this review , i'm told this is a very new restaurant. With that being said, apparently there's some kinks that need to be worked out. I made a open table reservation for 3:15 p m. When I arrived I had to valet park my car. As far as I could tell there were no other parking options available. It was only $10 , so it wasn't a big deal. Upon entering the restaurant, I was seated right away. The hostess was very nice and friendly. My server introduced himself to me upon my arrival also. However, I was told that there was only brunch being served at that time. And that dinner wasn't going to be served until 5 p m. I looked over the brunch menu for quite a while and then decided that I'd leave and come back. I came back promptly at 5 p m. Again I was seated it right away. However, this time it was an hour before my server came around. My order wasn't taken until about 7 p m. Then my order came about 30 minutes after my order was placed. Between the time my server came and my food came I was checked on continuously throughout that time by my server and others. When my food came , it was very , very delicious. I had the fried green tomatoes, jerk turkey wings, candy yams, green beans, and dressing. Again, the food was very delicious. I just don't think it was worth that long of a wait. My server was kind enough to get me a 15% discount due to my long wait time. Even with the food being delicious and the atmosphere being gorgeous I honestly can't say that I would ever go back. Hopefully for future patrons they'll have a better experience.
We went there for Saturday brunch, you were forced to valet Park, which was $10, the entry was not clearly marked, so we walked around a few times before figuring it out, we were seated immediately, but 30 minutes later after watching other people get served. Had to ask someone where our waitress was. Once our order was taken. Food was delivered in a reasonable time and was fairly good. Also was given free shots. The only downside to the food was I chose to get chicken wings instead of a half chicken and you can see the wings are very babyish.
I visited Jordan's Soulfood this past Sunday and honestly left underwhelmed. The vibe inside was nice—the R&B music was a good vibe, but the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype on social media. Parking was a nightmare. The valet told us it would be an hour and a half wait to sit, yet when we walked inside, there were several empty tables and we were seated at the bar right away. The food was just okay. We ordered the oxtails, jerk wings, and smothered turkey wings. The wings were overly salty, and overall, everything was just... mediocre including the service.
The atmosphere was pretty good. we went during Saturday brunch and they had a live DJ and that was nice and he was playing good music. The food was okay. I had the pasta and the sauce was a bit watery and had no seasoning . My sister had smother turkey necks, corn, and greens. The corn and greens tasted like they came out the can. Also there is no parking on this area really so therefore you have to valet. I also had the jerk tacos and they were delicious 😋
We had reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday night, but when we arrived our table wasn’t ready, and we were told to wait outside for about 20 minutes. That was frustrating because the whole point of making a reservation is so the table is ready when you arrive. The place itself is nice, and by the time we sat down the crowd had started to thin out. They offer hookah for around $43. They also have a photographer walking around taking pictures. The picture itself is free, but if you want it printed and framed, it’s $20 per copy. Our server was Omarion. He was cool, funny, and personable, probably about an 8/10. He made the experience better overall, but he was busy and we did have to remind him of things a couple of times. We were a group of five and ordered a variety of dishes. Appetizers: • Soul Rolls (yams + mac & cheese) – very good. • Salmon Alfredo Rolls – really good. • Deviled Eggs – I don’t eat them, but my group devoured them and said they were delicious. • Fried Okra – no seasoning at all, not good. • Drinks (Strawberry Lemon Drops) – tasty but weak and overpriced. Main Courses: We tried grilled lamb chops, jerk lamb chops, oxtails, turkey wings, and steak. Sides included mac & cheese, cabbage, greens, yams, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. • Jerk Lamb Chops – flavorful and spicy, best paired with yams. • Yams – 10/10, the best thing on the menu. • Turkey Wings – lacked flavor; even salt and pepper couldn’t save them. • Oxtails – bland, and the rice was crunchy. • Steak – good. • Lamb chops (plain grilled) – they kept bringing out jerk instead, which upset the birthday girl. • Mac & Cheese – baked style but dry. • Cabbage – decent, salt and pepper helped. • Greens – lacked flavor even though cooked with turkey. • Broccolini – tasted like grass, no seasoning. • Mashed Potatoes – basic, nothing special. We were celebrating a birthday (noted on the reservation and mentioned to the host), but it was not acknowledged at all, which was disappointing. Overall: The restaurant is overpriced for what you get. The portions are generous, but the lack of flavor and inconsistent execution doesn’t justify $30 plates. The yams and jerk lamb chops were highlights, but everything else fell flat. If I go back, it would only be for drinks, appetizers, and maybe hookah—not dinner.
I tried Jordyn further first time. I ordered the mac an yams eggrolls. It took 50 minutes before they came out. I went right when they opened. The eggrolls were given to the customer at the bar...then after a while the customer at the bar acknowledged they hadn't ordered them. So the bartender kept them before my waitress asked if someone picked up my rolls. The lobster Mac and Cheese lacked lobster. The catfish was the best thing I had ordered.
This was my first time visiting. I made reservations, I wasn't sure what the crowd would be like after church service. I arrived, I was a guest of one., so I had to sit at the bar. That wasn't my preferred option, but I understood and made the best of it. I tried the lamb chops and grits of the brunch menu section. The lamb chops had a nice flavor, but the grits had a bit too much black pepper for my taste, so they weren't as enjoyable on their own. I ended up mixing them with the lamb and was able to enjoy the dish overall.
The Spaghetti Egg Rolls were good. But the Jerk Lamb Chops tasted like it was just seasoning slapped on it and not marinated then grilled. The Collard Greens were sweet and some may like that I prefer mine savory. The texture was good for the greens. While the Mac N Cheese had a great cheese pull and was baked it fell flat and the cheese was heavy on the sharp side. The Yams were very candied. Banana Pudding you can leave that menu item where it is. Drunk N Love is a great drink if you like Hennessy. The manager was very nice, our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable thanks Jared. They have Hookahs but I'm not interested. The music was great and it was a laid back atmosphere. I would recommend having reservations it made seating super easy. Valet parking advise its $10.
I made a reservation for Valentine's Day two weeks in advance and was informed that there was no availability until 11:15 PM. Furthermore, we were not permitted to smoke hookah in the cafe area, a detail that should have been disclosed when we inquired about the restaurant's hookah service during the reservation process. Consequently, we were relocated to the bar area, as no other tables were available. The initial waitress who assured us of her continued service subsequently left us to be attended by the bartender. Regarding the cuisine, the lamb chops, lobsters, yams, collard greens, mac and cheese, broccoli, and seafood egg rolls were all satisfactory. However, the oxtails were excessively salty. The beverages were enjoyable, though their price point of approximately $20 is rather elevated. The food pricing aligns with that of a high-end establishment.I consistently provide gratuities for services rendered, reserving non-tipping instances for demonstrably subpar service; however, the restaurant requres a mandatory gratuity of 20% to 30% is applied to parties of two or more.Valet parking was available for $10. Given the overall cost of the evening, I had anticipated a higher standard of service.
I would give this a four-star review because the food is amazing. The only problem is that one of the staff members is really rude and not accommodating to the guest. The hostess named Kory was very rude and was not trying to accommodate two separate reservations that I had made at the same time for my family of 7 to sit together. I had one reservation for three people and another for four people. Korey told me that we would not be able to sit in tables next to each other and we had to sit on opposite sides of the room. This did not make sense to me since there were tables that could just be put together, which is exactly what we did in the back once we were seated and we talked to our waitress with no problem sitting us together. I was surprised when I told korey prior to me sitting that it was me and my father's birthday dinner and we had to make reservations this way because we were unable to book a table of seven on OpenTable. I also told her that if we cannot sit together then we would just find somewhere else to go and eat. Kory smurked and could care less. She did not offer any solution to the seating issue. When another guest of my party of seven showed up and told Kory they were there with reservations under my name korey rudely told them y'all can sit but y'all won't be sitting next to each other. Unbeknownst to korey, I had already worked it out with the waitresses in the back so I went up there and got my other guest. It's almost like Korey was trying to turn people away and did not care. Please have a nicer more accommodating hostess up front to greet your guest and one that is not so quick to turn people away over a simple fix.
I was really excited to try this place and support a black owned business but the food is just ok and the food is too expensive to not taste great which is one of the reasons I gave it a 2/10. I saw the other 3 star reviews and should’ve listened. I ordered the smothered neck bones with greens and yams. The neck bones were tender but like someone else said the seasoning was slapped on and not marinated thoroughly. The greens were cooked tender but were sweet and not seasoned good. The yams were sweet which was why they were edible. The smothered neck bones did not come with rice and it was a small bowl for $7 dollars which is ridiculous considering there are places that will give rice for free. The service is a 2/10 there was a 20% gratuity tip and the customer service wasn’t good. The waiter often would be no where to be found. Me and my mom expressed our dissatisfaction with our meals to the waiter and nothing was done. The atmosphere was the best thing about this place.
Visited this restaurant yesterday.. there is no free parking. Valet is 10.00 which was a bit of a turnoff …. Walked in…..there was no friendly greeting. Very disappointing but ok. Ordered my take out which took a while.. cannot really figure out the vibe. Music was mediocre .. guest at the bar smoking or using the hooka. Then one other table was doing the same. Bar staff and waiters will smile but not very friendly or communicative. Outside patio would be great in the summer months. Now the food. Ordered the chicken Alfredo. Was very flavorful. Very big portion. Had asparagus. Had no taste. Also ordered jerk fish. It was ok. Pricing was ok. There is room for improvement just have to figure out who they are catering to on the inside. Staff needs to be a bit more welcoming . Wishing them the best.
The restaurant looked great, and I would’ve loved to dine in, but with an hour-long wait, I opted for takeout instead. I ordered two plates, which came to about $80. I don’t mind paying a premium when the quality matches the price, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. All of my food — the turkey wings, sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese —was completely covered in gravy. While the gravy itself had good flavor, it overwhelmed the rest of the meal. I especially expected the mac and cheese to stand out, but it had a noticeably sour taste underneath the gravy, which was off-putting. When customers are paying top dollar, the quality and attention to detail should reflect that. I hope the kitchen takes more care in how plates are prepared and considers separating sauces to preserve the integrity of each dish.
HAD RESERVATIONS AT 1:00pm CAME AT 1:04 AND they made me wait 30 minutes to be seated the host Sunday with the glasses and dehydrated lips said we we were late they have no grace period quick to give away your table also forgot about us while we were waiting for our table guess u need to be early or exact on time but either way our seats were ALREADY TAKEN we finally got seated and the food was GOOD which was save the seats are a bit beat up the BATHROOM was NASTY NO TOILET PAPER WET LIQUID ALL OVER FLOOR AND TOILET THEY CHARGE LUXURY 20% service fee but inside doesn’t give the same vibe in effort beware of bathrooms and service and grace periods cus there’s not none… doesn’t feel like place to spend 60 on a meal
mixed feelings about this place. not entirely bad, but the hospitality and quality could’ve been better. we started with the deviled eggs 10/10, easily the highlight. i ordered the fried catfish with yams, mac, and rice & peas. overall, i’d give it a 4/10. the fish was bland and underseasoned, and i expected lemon on the side but none came. the rice and peas were super overcooked and mushy, with little to no flavor. my water also had a strange hint of beer, and when i asked for a replacement, the server seemed annoyed and never returned. thankfully another waiter noticed and brought me a fresh one. yams and mac were amazing! for context, i’m a floridian who grew up in georgia, both sides of my family are cooks and well-known fishermen, so i know good seafood when i taste it. the catfish could’ve been much better!! my daughter had the fried wings and fries. the fries were solid, but the chicken was rubbery and undercooked, and there were multiple dark curly hairs in it. that one’s a 0/10. my man ordered the whole jerk chicken with the same sides. it looked well cooked outside but was still bloody inside. again, a sign of poor attention to detail. food also took quite a while to arrive, which was disappointing since we were excited to try the place. i’d noticed the 4.0 rating beforehand and decided to give it a fair chance, but now i see why it’s not higher. on the bright side, we were greeted warmly at the entrance, the atmosphere was nice, and while the music was a little too loud, the energy was good. custodians were visible and working, which i appreciated. would’ve been nice to see a manager or owner check in with guests, but not a dealbreaker. great greeting, nice vibe, but the food safety, seasoning, and service need real attention. i wanted to enjoy it more than i did.
I really wanted to like this place because the food is actually solid, but the service and cleanliness were a total disaster. The Service: As soon as I walked in, I overheard a server complaining that her table walked out without paying. Honestly? I can see why. If the service we received was any indication, she likely wasn't paying attention to her customers at all. I had to ask twice just to get a single napkin to wipe my hands. The Atmosphere & Hygiene: The women’s restroom was unacceptable. There was no toilet paper, the trash cans were overflowing, and the paper towel dispenser was empty. When I brought this up to the manager, she claimed she had cleaned it 25 minutes prior—which was clearly a lie unless a crowd of fifty people used it in that window. I actually had to explain to her that I just wanted to be able to wash my hands before eating. It was only 8:00 PM; there's no excuse for that level of neglect. The Food: To be fair, the entrée is an 8/10, but the side portions are very small for the price. Even with good food, the lack of professionalism and basic sanitation makes this a "one and done" for me. I won’t be coming back.
Food looked excellent! I tasted a couple of my friends dishes and they were very good: unfortunately mine never made it out the kitchen and they waited until all the food came out to inform me they didn’t have the ingredients to make what I ordered. Not sure if this is a normal occurrence but everyone else’s food tasted good. Disappointed though.
I typically do not write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts on this restaurant due to its potential. My party of four visited on Sunday. While the food was delicious, we experienced a significant delay in receiving our food and drinks, which took nearly two hours. We also requested more water from our waitress on two separate occasions, but she repeatedly passed by our table without fulfilling our request.
First time going with high expectations. Food was ok, it was bad it just wasn't outstanding. I had the fish and grits. The sauce on the grits was good but they only slabbed on a small amount. I asked for extra and they told me yes but never came back out with it. I let them know and they forgot to ask in the kitchen. I had the deviled eggs small bites, they actually were pretty good but I asked for them to come out before my main course. It came out wayyyyyyy after my meal . The bar service is slow as molasses and not very engaging, as I could barely hear what they were saying upon asking for recommendations on the bar menu. The parking isn't great in the neighborhood either, either valet or drive around the neighborhood, park and hope you don't get towed, but that's typical Houston. If they had better customer service this would be a better place. I'm rooting for y'all to improve!
Me and my fiancé finally tried this restaurant on Valentine’s Day. The customer was outstanding but the food ….. hated the Mac n cheese , very lumpy . The yams taste like they came out of a can . The greens had this sweet taste , yuck 🤢 I had to add some hot sauce. They cornbread was the best thing on my plate . For parking to be $10 I was expecting my food to be top tier. Need some new and improved recipes n chefs
The atmosphere was beautiful had a nice touch to the decor. The music was a little loud. I had the oxtail mac and cheese bowl which was very salty and soupy. Definitely don't recommend it. Now the salmon alfredo egg roll was definitely a 10 out of 10, delicious. The lemonade tasted like a weird country time taste that definitely was not worth the $5. The service was horrible; it took them about 15 to 20 minutes to take our order and then it took another hour to get the food. They were very short staffed the hostess was serving food and the food guy/server was also bartending. Everyone was running around rotating roles trying to get people seated and taken care of. The staff definitely worked good together but for a new business this place is very understaffed and as stated previously my food was very salty. Not worth the price. For a party of five I paid $300. FYI, there's a 20% gratuity already included for two or more people.
The service was unacceptable, my food was actually served before my drink, which shows a complete lack of organization and attention to detail. The staff seemed disengaged and the overall service was very poor. To make matters worse, the food itself was bland and not enjoyable at all. For a place that has received so much online attention, the reality did not live up to the hype. I left dissatisfied and will not be returning.
The place is nice on the inside. The food is over priced and the ticket already includes a 20% gratuity. My smothered chicken with gravy was $35 and my husband 4 oxtails with no gravy and rice with collard greens. The cornbread was the best thing we ordered. The greens already have jalapeño or pepper sauce in it. Just a FYI: Texans love our oxtails with gravy and a lot of them. The chicken needs to be juicy and tender. Marinate over night. The mash potatoes need more season. It was a nice atmosphere but the food is not that good for the price. I forgot about the spaghetti was nicely seasoned, just need more sauce.
This is my review I wish I could give it a zero! And I hate this for our ppl but the customer is below standard and the food is to greasy I paid 20$ for 2 oxtails and and load of grease of grits smh please do better as a ppl! But the customer service was mediocre at its best please do better! Not to mention i had to pay for parking to get this shit! And they charge 20% gratuity on a 2 or more ppl its insane! I so wanted to experience better but our ppl don't get it! Please make sure its not a one and done trip u would want return customers so do better! Not going back and want recommend !
My friend made a reservation for her birthday. We get there on time and we are sat right by the door so everyone coming in or out has a front row view. They state they are limited on seating as other parties are continuously coming in and out. We sit for almost 20 min before we are greeted. Someone gets the attention of the hostess to ask if someone will be coming over and immediately met with attitude as the hostess’s are gossiping and chatting at the stand directly in our view as we are in front of the stand by the door. I guess we interrupted them and they didn’t like that. Gave us an immediate attitude. When our waiter finally comes over he was definitely pleasant. We were over the experience by then but still ordered so we could leave ASAP. I personally got the catfish platter with two sides. It was good. The catfish being placed on lettuce after being fried was my only issue truly as it made it hard to pick up. Two ppl got the shrimp Alfredo that was cold when it arrived. They immediately told the waiter and he told a manager in front of us and the manager just walked off. We were ready to go so we didn’t want to wait for it to be remade just wanted to bring it to his attention. We asked for a manager and he came over and criticism was given on site. Even the professionalism. He removed my food from the bill instead of the two Alfredo’s because he never even asked clarifying questions just wanted to do something so we would go about our day. While leaving out my friend was very verbal about our treatment and stated to the hostess you were very rude and she got into a back and forth screaming match while we were trying to leave. The whole experience was really not pleasant. I wouldn’t return. Customer service is important. It was disregarded this evening.
I came and dined in tonight. My server was a young man Omarion. For starter’s he never informed us about the 20% gratuity. I don’t mind the service fee as long as the service matches what we are paying. He wasn’t attentive at all when I needed something I continuously noticed that his phone had his undivided attention. I had to wait 10 minutes for a sauce I asked for. The food was good but the service made it not worth it. Very disappointed and won’t be back. My 350,000 TikTok followers will be hearing about this.
So I recently just went to this restaurant after work due to it being in the Medical Center. The service was horrible. I was not acknowledge until 45 minutes to an hour. I never got asked what did I want to drink. When I finally ordered my food over an hour in it took about an additional 30 minutes just for my appetizer and then an additional 30 minutes for my food. I was there for a total of over two hours. When I finally got my food, I just asked for it to go. No one apologize. Almost everyone in the restaurant was complaining about the service. No one even acknowledged.
Jordan’s in Houston was a complete disaster from the moment we walked in. The greeting? Horrible. They couldn’t even find our reservation and instead of fixing it professionally, we were met with excuse after excuse. The guy never introduced himself, We finally get seated and just sat there… while multiple staff members walked right past us without offering water, without acknowledging us, without ANY sense of urgency. After a long wait, some guy comes over not to actually help but to give us even more excuses about why no one had taken care of us yet. Then when we tried to order something simple a strawberry lemonade the server responds with, “Oh, that costs money.” Excuse me??? Why would we be sitting in a restaurant if we didn’t expect to PAY? The comment was unnecessary, unprofessional, and flat-out rude. Between the terrible service, the attitude, and the constant excuses, the experience was beyond disappointing. Houston has way too many good restaurants to waste your time and money somewhere that treats guests like an inconvenience. Do better
I truly wanted to support a Black-owned business, but this experience was extremely disappointing and not worth the money. From the moment I walked in, there was no greeting or acknowledgment. Staff were more focused on joking and talking among themselves than paying attention to customers, which immediately set a negative tone. The food itself was under-seasoned and lacked flavor, especially considering the high prices. For what you pay, the quality simply does not match. I left feeling like I overpaid for food that tasted rushed and careless. What made the experience worse was the automatic 20% gratuity added on top of already overpriced items. It’s unreasonable to require customers to tip for service that was inattentive and accompanied by unpleasant attitudes. Customer service felt dismissive rather than welcoming. Overall, this was a waste of time and money. I don’t leave reviews often, but I feel people should be aware of what to expect before coming here. Supporting Black-owned businesses is important to me, but quality, professionalism, and respect for customers still matter. Unfortunately, this establishment fell short in all three areas
The crab stuffed salmon had spinach dip with no crab in it. Food came no silverware. Had to wait ten minutes to flag a kitchen staff member to ask for it. He was very polite. Got charged 20% gratuity (party of 3) and our server Kiara was trash, to be polite. Waisted 20 min for our drinks and to even come ask our order.
