Opinions de The Toasted Coconut Houston
It was our 3rd visit here. We decided on brunch last minute and called ahead for our party of 6. The timing of our arrival worked out perfectly & we were seated comfortably. We took several of our server’s recommendations & had zero regrets. While we drooled over the dessert options (a chocolate ganache pie, key lime pie or tres leches), we were too full.
Love the tiki vibe of this place. And everything was so colorful and festive, includingthe food and drinks. I visited when it was warm and the patio was really nice! Lots of both food and alcohol options. The fusion food menu is really interesting. There were several things on the menu that I wouldn't mind coming back to try, next time I'm in Houston.
his place has such a vibrant and eye-catching atmosphere. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I only tried the tres leches cake, which was absolutely delicious, but my friends ordered several drinks and dishes that were just as impressive. We truly enjoyed our time here, and I highly recommend this spot
It would be hard to say anything negative about this place. The lamb flat bread and marinated cucumbers are out of this world! The drinks are tropical and always prepared with a delicate touch and amazing presentation. I'm going to keep coming back until I can try everything on the menu!!! Much love Toasted Coconut!!
The world famous cheeseburger really hit the spot today. 2 House made beef patties, american cheese, chili aioli, pickles, red onions...all on a tasty Hawaiian bun. 5 stars all the way. My wife got the HTown B.E.C.......this is a sammy wit' beef brisket, a chive omelet, mozzarella cheese, she skipped the toasted bolillo bun.....very nice sliced brisket, the omelet didn't have much in the way of chives. We shared a nice beer. Got to tour their hidden speak easy they have set up in an old cold storage locker....greta food and service, very friendly employees.
We love this place. The 3rd time was a charm. Food is delicious and the best drinks in Houston for sure. Our server was pleasant, down to earth, yet professional. The music is great but loud and the atmosphere is cozy yet tropical. Nice place for lunch or din-din! After eating we were escorted to a hidden speakeasy for additional drinks and a different atmosphere. Most enjoyable.
We’d been wanting to check out The Toasted Coconut for a while since we heard they have great food and cocktails. Finally made it, and it was totally worth it. For cocktails, we tried their Vamos a la Playa, which is a smoky mezcal drink, and Tropic Like It’s Hot, a spicy tequila one. Both were super refreshing and really well made. For food, we went with small plates. The dumplings were the highlight full of flavor and just really good. The crispy eggplants were great too, crunchy and tasty. The lamb flatbread didn’t really work for us. It was too crispy and oily, and I couldn’t taste much of the lamb. The place has a really nice vibe, very relaxed and fun. Our server was super friendly and gave great recommendations. They told us to come back for the burgers, so we’ll definitely be back to try those.
When my best friend said I had to come try this place out I knew it was gonna be an instant success. The first time we came here I ordered the chickpea curry and I still think about that dish at least once a week. My friend recently recommended the shrimp tacos and they did not disappoint. I would suggest ordering a side of Serrano salsa on the side for the tacos.
This place was incredible 😍 I cannot wait to go back, the food and drinks are so original and tasty. I plan to visit again soon with another friend and I'm looking forward to the wontons and flat bread. So yummy. Highly recommend. The service is great too. We went on a Wednesday so it wasn’t too busy, the only issue I had was parking and not being able to park in the lot, had to find street parking and was worried about getting towed, but thankfully I was all good!
ASK FOR PETER on Saturday or Sunday, he made the experience 10 ⭐️!! Pork dumplings- yummy Chicken Sandwich, Spicy and Deluxe- FANTASTIC and not crazy spicy 😉 We split both entrees and shared a desert (sorry we started eating before we grabbed that last photo)- we are stuffed!! AND they make fantastic drinks both with and without alcohol Worth the drive and parking was easy too!!
This was a very interesting place. I ordered the Stuffed Mushroom burger and OMG, MOUTH WATERING! The spinach dip was quite interesting. I've never had a spinach dip that had curry in it but it was still delicious. The vibe does seem more of group gatherings to enjoy some tasty cocktails but there is a good food menu. I was informed the owners also have a fine dining restaurant around the corner. I can't remember the name, but I'll Google it the next time I'm in the area.
We visited here after seeing Guy Fieri visit on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The food and drinks are terrific, albeit a little pricey but overall it's reasonable considering the portion sizes and the presentation. The drinks look professionally prepared. The music is a little too loud on the inside. They have a nice hut outside but it was just too hot at the end of May to sit out there. Our waitress was very courteous but sometimes inattentive. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would love to come back if we're in the area again.
Toasted Coconut offers a relaxed tiki vibe with delicious food and drinks! The menu includes classics like burgers and fries but also fun small plate combos like their sweet potatoes with goat cheese. The drink we got was a great size to share and they offer seasonal specials if you are down to try something new. Servers here offer great service and their care feels genuine. Overall a great location and must-try in Montrose!
This looked like a real cute restaurant. We sat outside and they provided heaters. Staff very accommodating. We ordered the coconut shrimp for a shareable appetizer. It came out with the head and legs. It was good but my thought was that it they fried it all as one, did they devein it? Oh and no diet drinks. Cute place but won’t be going back.
We chose to eat outside because the weather was nice. I ended with a very rich and slightly salty. I took it to go because I was so full. And my mouth was on fire from the fries. We started with drinks and an appetizer. I didn’t taste the Rings of Saturn. But my daughter liked it. She didn’t finish it, however. I had Vamos a la Playa and it was really good. It was a little strong, but it was perfect. For lunch I had The Cuban and my daughter had a chicken sandwich. My daughter enjoyed the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I had The Cubano and it was very good. The bread was crispy. The inside was very good. I would definitely order that again. The Toco Fried Rice with kimchi was absolutely delicious. If you like kimchi rice, you will love this. I could go there and only order this and be happy as a clam. Downside… we had these very spicy, but delicious fries. But there was a hair in the sauce. But I must say, it was delicious. Super spicy and if you love, love, love spice, I suggest you get this. Your mouth will tingle and burn. However, it’s the most delicious type of burn. Side note: we did tell our server and he got us another order and didn’t charge us for the fries. The service was good. It was strange that the server left during lunch. He was nice, a little timid, maybe. But the server who took his place was very, very nice. More outgoing and fun.
Came for the fish but they have none on the menu. The food overall is good. Crispy eggplant was very good. I had the PEI mussels~delish but the bread that comes with is very salty. Lamb flat bread wasnalso a hit! Drinks was fire 🔥 (literally) good exp overall. Victoria our server is very nice and accommodating.
The Toasted Coconut has a nice ambience. Parking is not the best (small lot and most likely need to street park). Food was not worth a long wait, so definitely recommend making reservations. Was seated at an outdoor patio. Waitress was friendly! For the price, the crispy chicken sandwich was disappointing. Tasted good but the chicken was so small for $14. Honestly, you're better off ordering a spicy chicken sandwich at a fast food chain. The spiced fries were average; nothing special. Pork dumplings (5pc?) were ok, 3.5/5 stars taste-wise. I don't see myself dining here again.
I came here with some friends from out of town. We were a group of four and were two couples. The patio is very nice, and the food and drinks were tasty. My issue came when we received our bill. Our waiter told us he would not split the check between the two parties at our table. This was surprising because the establishment clearly caters to groups who come for drinks, with an emphasis on shared dishes and cocktails. They also use Toast Tab, which typically makes splitting bills easy. The next day I called to confirm their policy on splitting checks, and I was told that they are happy to split a check between two couples. I would think twice about coming here if you are a group of friends who intend to pay separately or even two people who plan to pay separately. Management should have a consistent policy on this and make customers aware. I believe this is especially important because the restaurant is marketed as a great spot for groups going out for cocktails.
Just walked out disappointed. We were sat down and waited 10 minutes and no one came around to greet us. A table of four sat next to us and were immediately greeted by the waiter. I really loved their fried chicken and I brought my dad who doesn’t come out often just to try it. Telling everyone I know. Service has gone downhill.
