This place was an absolute delight for me and my family. Despite the massive crowd and a 30-minute wait to be seated, the anticipation only added to the experience. The ambiance was typical of a Vietnamese restaurant—casual and inviting—and the buffet did not disappoint. Everything we tried was flavorful, with many dishes leaning toward the sweeter side, which is characteristic of Vietnamese cuisine. The standout feature was undoubtedly the noodle station, offering an impressive 19 traditional Vietnamese noodle varieties. I sampled 12 of them (thanks to some strategic sharing!) and was blown away by the variety and authentic flavors. If you’re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine, especially noodles, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
I felt the Vietnamese atmosphere in this place. I loved having chance to try all the authentic Viet food with small amount, so my stomach does not burst. Servers know when to clean all the used dishes for you after you finish. They also offer variety of deserts like chè, sweet bakery and drinks such as fresh sugar cane juice and Thai tea. Price varies depending on weekdays or weekends/holidays.
Wide variety of authentic Vietnamese cuisine! They even have a pho bar making classics like pho, bun Rieu, bun Bo hue, and even Chinese style like shrimp wontons. There’s also a grill station serving shrimps, grilled oysters, and even chicken feet! Make sure to try all the different house made sauces they offer. And don’t forget traditional appetizers like spring rolls/egg rolls and banh xeo! For seafood- the marinated crabs were a hit, along with big and plump escargot- make sure to dip in the special sauce! The dessert station served up the classic rainbow ice and mung beans. There was even a small sushi station- which wasn’t a hit. The restaurant area is huge and for the price of $32 per person for dinner, you honestly can’t go wrong. All in all, definitely worth the price for wide variety delicious and authentic Vietnamese cuisine!
I am somewhat confused by the bad reviews. I was very happy with my experience here. I think people get upset with the price but for the food options they have and the quality of everything I think it is right on par. The oysters were great as well as everything else I had except the shrimp on a stick which was terrible mush. The servers were great and the food selection you can’t go wrong with. I would definitely recommend coming here if in Houston.
I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while and was eager to try. They have a decent sized selection of foods for the buffet. They had a lot of Dim sum selections as well as some street food styled meats. Their noodle bar was great and I was able to try the different types of noodles. They also had fried food and sushi as well. Overall, the food was decent and I was glad I was able to try some other Vietnamese foods.

I saw video of Kim Son on YouTube and was incredulous about the quality of buffet food. As a very picky eater and a critical food reviewer I must say that Kim Son delivered on quality and value. $32 for a buffet is fair. I tried 3 soups and they were all good. The desserts were very good. Dim sum was decent. I didn’t try everything like clams and snail because they weren’t for my taste. Service was great. There were non Vietnamese items too. Will definitely return. We arrived 15 minutes before opening on Saturday and by noon it was almost full. So arrived around 11:30 if you want to avoid waiting.
Lunch time buffet. We were seated right away. Great customer service throughout the whole dining experience. Food was decent, slightly overhyped on social media, but one of a kind vietnamese buffet. They have a little bit of everything to satisfy your cravings. What I don't like is that they charge you for drinks and its not included in the buffet prices.
My friends and I came here for dinner to raise some money for the Buddhist organization to build a new temple in Tampa, Florida. There were about a thousand people attending the meeting. The vegetarian dishes were very good. Kim Son restaurant is a great place for dining, parties, meetings, and weddings. We had a great time at the meeting because there were many singers performing for entertainment.
This is always a must visit for me when I visit Houston. The first time I went there was an array of seafood options. They also had offered crawfish for the summer menu. The food was delicious. Everything was fresh and refilled by the minute. Though I will say the last time I visited the food was disappointing some of the options were cold or old. They had limited options. I hope to visit another time and enjoy a better meal.
Food was wonderful!! I was expecting more options but the variety was good whether you like seafood, beef, chicken, and other delicacies like escargot. I tried sooo many things I never tried before and actually enjoyed them! Lol Service was excellent!!! Nothing more, nothing less!! Price was decent. Not cheap. Not expensive. I didn't eat much but tried many things so the $32 was worth it for me. Atmosphere was nice! The dining area could use a few updates but nothing major. Also I'd like to see another station with more options like crab legs, fried chicken, chicken and broccoli, etc.
This place was amazing!! I definitely wish we had this back home. I had heard about this Vietnamese buffet a good bit before we visited but nothing prepared me for it in person. There were so many great food options, with street food to pho to dim sum. They also had free boba and desserts included- their chai tea was phenomenal. I really loved the variety and felt that anybody could find something to eat there. We visited on a weekday at lunch and business was booming. This is a must visit next time I am in town! My only complaint is that most of the food is salty, so if you are sensitive to that just be aware.
Overall, food selection was good - selection was pretty much Vietnamese. Pho, bun bo hue, Vietnamese deserts & refreshments, grilled shrimp on a stick, banh mi, general tso chicken, pad thai, and much more. You grab a plate, go to each different station, and someone serves you what you want. The food was good and our waitress was attentive. The deserts were probably our favorite. It was a nice one-and-done experience.
*only one concern at the end of the review* Mainly billed as a Vietnamese restaurant and they do offer quite a selection on their buffet. Some folks may feel the pricing is somewhat high ($24+ adult lunch and $34+ adult dinner) before tip but it all depends on who you're comparing them to. A good example would be the UMI Premium Seafood restaurants which is $1.50 more at lunch but UMI offers lobster, crab, oysters etc. on their buffet, then again, neither can be categorized into any of those $14. Chinese buffets. The selections I chose were pretty tasty and fresh so they obviously have a great kitchen staff. The wait staff person did an adequate job checking on the group and removing unnecessary plates, etc. Food service was quick and friendly (your selection was handed to you...cafeteria style) and overall it was a good experience. My only concern has to do with their so called "VIP Club" that is supposed to give you loyalty points for patronizing their locations. The server was given my QR code to scan and my phone #, came back to the table, presented the bill and indicated everything looked good. I checked my loyalty account a few times since dining there and no updates have been posted. I even emailed their contact Leo Tran who is listed on their website and a week later, still no response. I called the restaurant and the first person didn't know what I was talking about, with the second person telling me they haven't utilized that VIP Club program in quite a while. Of course they did happen to send me a birthday bonus about 5 months ago AND the program can still be accessed via their website. Nevertheless, at this time I would warn folks about the possibility of personal information being "harvested" through these programs especially since nobody I've been able to talk to knows anything. Lunch totals exceeded $100 with a generous tip out and the experience was good but their VIP Club situation has me a bit nervous about how the information I gave when I signed up, is being used.
Kim Son Buffet on Bellaire is still one of the best all-you-can-eat spots in Houston if you’re craving a huge variety of Asian dishes. They have everything from traditional Vietnamese and Chinese hot entrees to dim sum, seafood, and dessert options. The salt and pepper shrimp, pho station, and steamed fish are always highlights for me. It does get busy during peak hours, but the staff keeps things moving and the food stations well-stocked. Great value for the price, especially if you go with a group.

Kim son was on our list of place to visit for our family trip to Houston. The atmosphere and service was good. The food not so much. The place was way over hype for being a Vietnamese food buffet. The food was mediocre at best. We got a Bun Bo Hue and Mi quan from the noodle bar, the soup lack flavor, and maybe it was us but we never seen the mi quan noodle looking like that before. We try banh uot and it was cold and chewy, same thing with banh beo. We have high hope for desert bar, and also end up disappoint. With the taste a bit off, like it been left out for a while. This is when we arrive about 10 - 15 min from their open time. Overall, it was something we want to try and can cross of our list
I was very excited to try this place, the concept is great but the food was just okay kind of bland. The Thai tea was delicious and my personal fave. When we got there around 5 it wasn’t busy but then 20 mins later it got super busy and the line for the grilled oysters was almost to the entry way.

We were super excited to try this place for the first time but left disappointed. There weren’t many selections compared to a regular buffet, but we appreciated the uniqueness of the food. However, we were very let down by the freshness. Many of the dishes, such as the spring rolls, chicken, and octopus, were hard to chew. Some were too salty. The chicken feet, despite their orange color, had zero flavor. The made-to-order noodles and porridge had great flavor, but the toppings looked nothing like the pictures.

Anticipation was building up as we flew to Houston to try this place. All hopes and dreams were broken after the first bites of all the foods. Crepes were too oily and thick, clams had lots of dirt and sand in it. Everything was very oily and too sweet. Nothing that is as good as the real authentic Vietnamese cuisines of what Kim Son Buffet represent. Please do yourself a favor by going to a Vietnamese restaurant to try the real cuisines. I'm so embarrassed and ashamed for bringing my Korean friends here and they couldn't swallow much of it. What a waste of $32/person which you could have gotten better and more quickly dinner somewhere for $125 for 4. This will be my first and last visit of this place. I should never watch a YouTube video about it because it's all a lie and great disappointment. Staff are great though. The servers are very attractive and wonderful.
