Opinions de Lone Star Saloon Houston
In Houston for just 2 nights. Discovering Loanstar Salon was the best part. Owner bought me a whiskey shot, local rodeo management group bought me a jello shot all while I was drinking the cheapest but tasty beer. Hey and got a coozie too!
Got to meet the owner, 92 year old Joe Lee, and his bartender Angela and her husband Brandon were great company. A wonderful dive bar.
Amazing place!! This was our first time at Lonestar Salon Bar and the vibe was great!!! We loved the hospitality that we received by the wonderful bartenders Richard, Angel and Jeff! We had a great time and will definitely return!! If you are new in town or just visiting definitely check them out!!! Go Astros!! ⚾️🏟 ❤️
The bar had just opened in the afternoon....what an amazing bar. Definitely a hole in the wall, but our server was awesome. She deserves a medal. We popped in as drink, perfect for daytime drinking, ( difficult downtown Houston). Very real, welcoming and fun. Our server even played music to our taste. Thank you so much.
The place was great with good ambience and music. The staff was really welcoming and provided and excellent service. Would defined reccomend.
Established in 1945, this small bar has lots of character and friendly staff.
Lone Star Saloon is a niche of Downtown that is quaint and welcoming. The portions are sure to satisfy. The bartender makes you feel at home and special.
Unpretentious. And Casey was friendly like all good Texans.

Absolutely loved this place! Bartender was great.
The last real dive bar in the city. Couldn't love this place more.
I love the karaoke night on Tuesday
What can I say but love the vibe of a home in a wall right snack in the middle of downtown!
Been here a few times, stop by to drink before s Rockets game. Specializes in beer and whiskey lol
Great place to sit and enjoy a few cold rounds... 🍻
Watched the Rockets game randomly here. Best bartender ever!
I was there when the Astros Championshiop Parade was going on. Nice place. Good beer and liquor. I will try to go back 2 times a month more if I could. Bartenders are great
Great dive bar. Good music friendly and funny staff sand their Steaks nights are great. Ray Cooks a DAMN GOOD Ribeye
Very quaint neighborhood bar. Not very busy on a Monday night . But being downtown near Greyhound affords stranger than most people watching.
A true Texas Saloon, its not big but has been here for ages
Went in there after Pride to wait out the traffic. Nice hole in the wall on the edge of downtown, if that's your scene I'd recommend stoppin in for a beer
The best dive bar in Houston with the a good mix of regulars and first timers. A must visit as one of Houston's oldest dive bars
Love Coming Here To Drink The Day Away. Always Known For No Nonsense Bartenders Like Bree, ashleigh, and Jackie. Thanks for the trip!
Listen up buckaroos, it doesn't get any more Houston, Texas el authentico than this here joint. Angel and I did shots all night, I was so drunk after I stumbled onto the casino bus next door and woke up in Lake Charles.
The Bartender Kristy was really generous and helpful, the atmosphere was nice people were nice. I recommend it especially if you are catching the megabus.
Bartender was nice and customers are nice and friendly i felt welcomed my first time here ill be coming back most deff.
Kristy and the company there were really nice. My friend and I were treated very well while waiting for our transportation. Thank you for the memories.
The best place to go sit and have a nice good drink. A very friendly atmosphere
Searched all night for a real Texan bar and finally found it. Trace was awesome and made us feel right at home.
My place. I love this bar and Joe Lee has been my friend for about 9 years. He's the owner.
Angel was great!! She made us feel like home away from home.
If you like "dive" bars, this one is great and Jessica the bartender is awesome!!
If you need a stiff drink and ride home good place to go Metro 🚇 is close
Pizza is good. Kind of a honky tonk bar but comfortable and I had fun karaoke night Tuesday
Richard provided excellent customer service The overall vibe of this place was… vibrant! If you are in the downtown Houston area, give this place a visit.
The bartender working (glasses and tattoos) was extremely friendly and made the whole visit worth while. There is a juke box which the staff encourages customers to play. Laid back, good pizza, great music, and amazing staff. Will be back before I leave town and will be recommending it to anyone traveling to Houston.
By far the best bar I've been to. It's nothing fancy, but it is perfect for a country boy or any one else to come hang out have good beer and good food. Straight to the point and friendly regulars and bar staff. My favorite bartender is Alana. She's pretty but mostly is nice and comfortable just jamming out and will even dance around with you to her favorites. Obviously loves what she does and makes the plaace much nicer to goto regularly.
This place is my safe space after work! I retreat here for peace of mind, good people , great staff and owner and alot of laughs and great memories!!!? Come see for yourself!!!! 😉
One of the best dive bars in Houston and THE BEST in downtown Houston. Step into this shotgun house shaped dive next to the bus station on the edge of downtown, loosen your tie, and leave the stress and hustle and bustle of downtown at the door. The characters that frequent this place are as unique as the beer joint its self! Crush some beers with your buddies, eat one of their pizzas, jam Hank Jr. and Kid Rock on the jukeboxe, and take it easy. Love this place! It's a hidden gem!
Awesome Bar! Great little place to kick back have a drink and relax. The husband-and-wife team behind the bar or so much fun! I'll be back the next time I'm in Downtown Houston.
It was nice and peaceful when I went there on St. Patrick's Day. I enjoyed the conversation and food.
Love this place. Old school dive bar. Nothing fancy, and that's just fine. Good place for a cold beer and fun conversation with fellow Houstonians.
Was here in 2008. Was really fun and met the landlady who was from Vietnam and 2 patrons called Den and Puppy Dog. The 2 friendliest and funniest Americans. Had great banter. Shame we couldn't say goodbye to them before we left.
Great place in middle of Houston No Frills kind of place with wonderful bartenders Shanna and Jessy come to mind and great owner Joe Lee. Basically a bar cheap drinks restroom a pool table and a great jukebox. Peace out and I'll see you there.
Awesome service! Cheap drinks as well for a bunch of travellers. Shout out to Angel for being very hospitable and shouting out a free chilli dog as a welcome to the beautiful state of Texas!
Joe Lee the owner is the nicest guy ever ! Great bar been around since the 40's ! Soon you will be able to drink (512) Brewing Co. on tap !!!!
It is the Bomb! Great atmosphere and service. One of the best dive bars I have been too. Friendly staff and good pizza.
Just wanna say for an outta town experience the service is exceptionally perfect … especially from JJ very attentive to customers and makes you feel at hm and welcome “Houston you were good to Us”, highly recommended you visit the Lone Star Saloon
The downtown Houston dive bar. Friendly and diverse. Houston western decor including bulls horns and road signs. A couple of TV'S for Astro games. One pool table, the sticks and surface true for my one game. Was slow for Friday, clientele older. Location a few blocks from the action on Main Street and EADO, but worth a walk or share ride.
Love Casey. She is the BEST! Will Come bk for sure ;)
Had a great time for the layover here. This place is the best - I typed "dive bar" into the search and this place fit the bill. I think there's a place called heaven, but thats a misspelling: they actually meant the Lone Star Saloon. I blame autocorrect for screwong THAT one up. Tasty cheap beer, good company - Angel brings the good times, Casey brings it--where else you gonna go???
Great little affordable neighborhood bar for a night cap. Sweet bartender Katie was very hospitable. Will be back!
This place is owned by a dear old friend from 25+ years ago. It's not a place to look for food, it's an old time "watering hole" or "beer garden".... It is a fun place and has been voted as top ten dive bars across the Country. Very cool place to go when visiting Houston. Stop at Joe Lee's Barber shop around the corner. Joe Lee, the owner, is over 90 now and still does his own work, tough and hard working man.
What a brilliant little bar. My wife was a little apprehensive walking up to the premises. After all, it's not called a dive bar for nothing, and told her if she didn't feel comfortable we would leave straight away but from the reviews had a good feeling. To be fair walking to the door from the front she was right. No windows and , the Lone Star sign missing since the last hurricane. Open door . Walk in. Wow! Fab U Lus! Bartender so friendly and inviting. Locals happy to see you supporting the bar. Plenty on screens for the sports. Great prices. We went for one pint before BBQ and went straight back. Loved it! (Didn't give 5 stars for food as nachos are not a source of nutrition and with Papa BBQ two blocks away you'll be ok). Shame juke box broken. Hopefully it'll be fixed if we ever pass by again. If not. Thanks to everyone inside and happy birthday Jacob. D
We came in for the rodeo and found this dive bar. My son and I had a blast. Miss Brandy treated us right and we even got to have a beer with the owner. He's owned it since 1979. If you're in the area swing in for a few.
One of the sexiest bartenders, who is very friendly, all about the customer. In the second oldest bar in the city and state of Texas I believe. As well, I would love to see a boost in clientele. Great ambiance, I would love to promote. Get people back to enjoying each other. In trust, love 💕, faith, authentic joy, genuine appropriation. With good vibes. That's what I love feeling surrounded by.
We LOVE this bar. Best dive in Houston. We come every Sunday, the drinks are cheap, food is great and bartenders are super welcoming. Definitely our new regular spot. 10/10 recommend
Been in Houston for a Texans game and went there by coincidence. Excellent service (close to the one at „Hotel Adlon” in Berlin), excellent kitchen (ask for the French Hors d’oeuvre, better than in Paris) and a Welcome Culture second to none. Highly recommended for any High Class Event! For us as Germans, it was very important, that the beer was enough and cold - both major targets have been fulfilled, too. Enjoy!
It's a dive bar. It's a good dive bar. Staff is always friendly and talkitive if you're interested, but will leave you alone if you're not. Drinks are reasonably priced, especially for being near the center of the city. Location is a little out of the way, but its a great spot to swing by if you're going between Midtown and Downtown. Everyone has a very laid back vibe and is just there to have a drink and tell a good story. Highly recommend checking it out.

STOPPED IN FOR A FEW. ...BEER WAS COLD.... (AND IF I KNO MYSELF, BEER HAS 2 B COLD)....SERVICE WAS GREAT....NICE PLACE TO UNWIND AND RELAX AND WATCH SPORTS....
In town for a one night stay stopped in for a quick drink and was treated like a regular.
Cool place 😎 had a layover good place to chill n have a drink hop bck on greyhound
I had a real good time at the Lone Star SaloonThe bartenders were real
Joe Lee the owner is the nicest man you will ever meet. Also my favorite bartender is Alana!!! She is sweet to everyone!
Looking for a low key place to enjoy some drinks and talk to some locals, great place! Had a great time
Watering Hole directly scross the street from The Metro Downtown transit center. The patrons are transient, as well. Sabriba has been there the last couple of times Ive wandered in slinging drinks with a Smile (we go way back) !
Met some friendly regulars who bought me beer and fed me some fine home cooked meal. It's a hole-in-the-wall kinda place, nothing fancy, but I got good beer, good food and good company.
Liked the atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Good place to ultimately hang out and have some beers and relax.
Cool little bar! Came to see our girl, Casey! She Rocks! 💃🏻🍻🍹🍸🍷
Uses pour counters on the bottles not your typical dive bar $9 mixed shots $5beers
Bartenders were nice, a little wired because often no music - they wait for costumers to use the music box. However, nice dive bar. Punk Bartender was in a fistfight with some guy on crack. (Sry for the wired review)
The bartender was very nice and the atmosphere of the bar felt nice. Some places could use a bit more cleaning, but otherwise I would recommend
Nice chilled authentic ambience and friendly bar staff, although to be fair I was there on a Monday night and they probably only had a dozen punters come through that night - don't know what it's like when it gets busy. Good beer, cold and reasonably priced. Plus it has a pool table, always a bonus in my book!

Friday night 11:15 p.m. one employee and three patients counting me. Supposed to be downtown Houston's number one biker bar not one single biker around no bikes around no customers around bar has a nice layout but zero atmosphere great patio area I'm sitting out here by myself

Love this place for the people and raucous atmosphere but the booze selection is horrible and the location is worse. Also, I gave away my glow in the dark tiny hand to strangers who I feel might not love it as much as I do and so I want it back. But they say if you love something let it go 😭🖖
Not at all what we were expecting to walk into with a name like lone star saloon.
Asked for Sunday pitchers that were advertised outside the place and was charged premium price because their Sunday best was out of stock (I told them to get rid of their sign, but they didn't - false advertising). Business hours is not the time to be doing major construction inside the place with louds banging and hollering messing up the vibe. I quit this place a long time ago.
OK place for a beer. Good jukebox. Not a sports so don't go for the game. Bar actually looks like it belongs in any small town in Texas, not I downtown Htown. Kinda cool.
Ghetto and rude bartender drinking with the customers. My friend got really drunk with her and her friends and they were pushing drugs on him!!! HORRIBLE!
Been there once before today.. Thought I’d give it another shot. The restrooms are horrid and they overcharge. They did it the first time and they did it again.
Do you like getting ripped off? If not then don't go to this place! They will rip you off!
absolute worst service. bartender was wasted. her husband, also bartending, also intoxicated, tried to fight with me about some miscommunication. after trying to pay my tab in a hurry the lady bartender notifies me that she is not accepting card payments only cash and conveniently enough right behind me was an ATM. very upset with the way the situation was handled.
So the new bartender felt like closing early. She had everyone here leave, not real big on this joe lee I hope you fix it.
Walked in looking for a friend and immediately all eyes were looking at me and was very uncomfortable, the place looked cramped for space had a few slot machines by the entrance. Sigh of relief walking back out the door.
Measured shots at 1 ounce. Someone ordered a Ciroc and red Bull tall and it was almost $10.50 for 1 ounce! I could go on for days...
This place is dirty smells like piss and always have homeless people around begging for change + the staff is really rude, there are tons of better bars to go to in the area.
I stopped in with a friend we had four beers each and they billed me for 29 beers. Total criminals. Do not go there.
Bartender was a horrible human being...didn't greet me, say thank you and slammed my change on the counter. When I seen there were SEVERAL bugs in my drink, she didn't say sorry, she just snatched the cup away and poured it out. Manager came out and apologized, said 'that kind of stuff happens, nuthin we can do bout it!'..and her response was "I ain't gunna kiss yo butt over a bug!" Yup, I am reporting that place to the Dept. of Health tomorrow
DO NOT GO HERE. I’ve never visited an establishment that treated me so poorly. I went to the bathroom. I was followed into the bathroom. When I was in the stall, someone knocked and said, “we charge for the bathroom” even though I was a paying customer. When I exited the bathroom, a patron disapproved of me going to the bathroom. When I went to the bar and asked why someone followed me in, the bartender (a female) said that she did not know who went in the bathroom because she was working. However, it was her exact voice that I recognized. When I was ordering a drink, I set my work coffee mug on the bar. She raised her voice at me for having it on the bar and I promptly moved it. However, there was no need for her to raise her voice at a paying customer. I would not go to that place again. I felt unwelcomed and did not deserve that treatment.
Waiting for the bus next door - bartender charges my card twice, once I notice I call to inform her and she says " ya I know I refunded you. You'll see it in a couple of days". Extremely rude and hung up on me. Didn't think to inform me of this while I was there and to provide me a receipt- food awful, microwaved. Beers cold. Would not recommend.
This place charges for restrooms , it should be illegal for the state of Texas to do this. I just looked at the reviews and it’s not the first time it has happened. Try to ask and they will charge you $2
Very bad customer service I bought drinks and the dude still wouldn’t let me use the restroom and was yelling and treating to kick me out if I didn’t leave the way he was telling me too, I am a disabled person in a wheelchair and very much do not like the way I was treated on this lovely Sunday. Ps don’t eat any food there I saw a mice.
I walked in to ask if I could charge my phone so I could get home and they told me I could not unless I was paying which was fine, its a place business I understand that, but as I walked out the owner was saying racial remarkband said something about farting so that I can smell it from outside and laughing at me because he thought I was stranded. I will never walk in that bar again!
Bartender tried to charge us $30 for two drinks. When we talked to the owner, he lowered the price so we stayed to finish drinks only to find a bug floating in one of the drinks. A really horrible experience....
I want to like this place, especially because the midnight BBQ is great. The female bartender is a sweetheart, too. But the guy who works there shamelessly hits on female customers. It’s creepy and uncomfortable - honestly he feels unsafe. I would caution any woman to not go to this place alone and not talk to this guy “Eddie.”
Drinks are watered down. Place looks like a hole in the wall bar. I expected more from this place to be in the middle of downtown. I thought they were going to be hip young people. College students like they said on their web reviews. Where??Right by the transit center so all the crazies, lonely, husbands and wives That's not in a rush to get home. Lot of people claim this is a place to relax. What a joke!! Maybe for a alcoholic. Happy hour is the only reason why most people enjoy this place.
