Opinions de Oui Banh Mi Houston
I love this place! Really fast service and has a drive through. We were across the street in the park so just ordered from an app and picked it up at the front window (I don’t think they’re open for dining). They’ve got a great buy one get one free deal for their pastries. I loved the hard boiled egg in the banh bao! Pate chaud had a perfect flaky crust from the puff pastry. Banh is also fantastic and ridiculously cheap compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I’m already thinking about what else I want to try from their menu!
ever since I started working down the street, I have been religiously ordering from here. everything is very graciously priced and the bahn mis are delicious. they have great vegetarian options which is sometimes hard to find. I deeply appreciate this place for existing and I will continue ordering from here until I can’t!
I come here at LEAST twice a week! The food is always fresh and hot. The customer service is unmatched, in my (Keith Lee voice) 10/10 would recommend.
Hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Houston, and that says a lot. I’ve visited quite a bit of Vietnamese restaurants in the broader Houston area and this is my go-to. I come here several times a week driving past a couple of other Vietnamese restaurants on the way. The flavors are delicious and consistent. The service is always excellent, personal, and fast. The servings are large. And you cannot beat the prices. The quality doesn’t change with drive-though or delivery, either. It’s all excellent. The atmosphere inside is great and spacious. Plenty of seating. The door hardly stays closed with the amount of people in and out. I always start with the chargrilled pork spring rolls and rotate the chargrilled pork vermecelli, chargrilled pork banh mi, or the eye of round pho. You will not be disappointed with this gem.
Food was top tier. Service was fast. The dumplings and fried rice were great and the portion size is large. Highly recommend. Would eat there again.
I wasn’t sure about visiting this place based on past reviews, but I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did. The shrimp spring rolls were very simple and nothing special, but the tofu bahn mi was one of the better ones I’ve had in houston- and I got both for $9 total. So considering the price point, and the speed and convenience of the drive through, this is somewhere I will definitely visit again.
Went for lunch yesterday to get some banh mi sandwiches and we were pleasantly surprised. The prices are very affordable and the place is very clean. There is a touch screen to help figure out what you want to order. The staff is very friendly even though the place can get busy with lunch orders. I would definitely consider going back here.
We paid a visit to Oui Banh Mi and had some great food and service. My wife got the pho ga, chicken and noodle soup, she enjoyed it, it needed a little salt, she brought some leftovers home. We shared an order of cha gio, Vietnamese fried mini eggrolls with fish sauce. The eggrolls came with a plate of veggies like cucumber and lettuce and fresh herbs. I enjoyed an iced Vietnamese coffee and a large beef banh mi with a fried egg. My wife had a can of diet coke over ice.
Oui Bahn Mi is one of my go-to’s! My partner, co-workers and myself go very often (usually once a week) for lunch. I always get the tofu bahn mi and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The tofu is cooked perfect and the bread is soft and fresh. My job is very chaotic so coming here on my break is lovely because the atmosphere is very chill and relaxing(the owner Lynn plays a lot of great music)! Lynn is always so sweet and such a hard worker! If the weather is nice I definitely recommend getting your lunch to go and sitting at one of the picnic tables at the neighboring Mandell Park!
June 2024: Made a beeline here after getting gas in the Richmond Avenue area. I purchased a Tofu Vermicelli plate and a Tofu Banh Mi. Both were very good - and I appreciate the consistency in quality for both items. Photos provided. March 2024: Made a point to stop by Oui Bahh Mi and order a few tofu items after learning a decent restaurant in 'Midtown' (Magic Wok) permanently closed. Nice that they still have their drive thru. The attendant repeated the order perfectly and I was requested to pull up while they served the car behind mine. I received my $21.33 to-go order; photos of Bahh Mi Tofu, tofu spring rolls and vermicelli with seasoned tofu are provided. Great portions, so I won't fault them too much with the tofu being a bit over cooked. The vermicelli was good; the spring rolls and banh mi are for later. Earlier review (fried rice): Glad to have good food (instead of fried chicken and burgers at every corner!) in the neighborhood! Oui Banh Mi teamed with Les Grival to offer dishes featured at both restaurants. The provided photo is combination fried rice.
Overall a 3.9/5 bahn mi in Houston. The price adds a whole star to this review. There was a wait however which may be off-putting to some if they're in a rush but I went late at night. Meat to bread ratio wasn't as bad as the reviews this time, I found it perfectly acceptable for the price.
Staff- 5/5 very friendly and efficient staff Banh Mi- 3/5 portions light unless you get regular portion. Bread ok, meats flavorful Pho- 4/5 broth good and fragrant. Meat portions small for Dac Biet. Tripe is good as well as the Bo Vien. Herb offerings small. Overall- 4/5 because of the value you get for the quality and options. I've been back twice now. Banh Mi classic is less meat than normal hence the price. Pay the $2 additional and you get the common price and expected amount of fillings. Place is a good find.
very cozy place and for almost $5 a banh mi its a steal, but the portions are light. their was no pate or butter on our banh mis which was very disappointing and the spring rolls were loosely wrapped with light portions. the food was decent and good if you want something cheap, but i can find better quality somewhere else.
I should have read some of the reviews before ordering from this restaurant. Food was decent, and our banh mi we ordered was missing from Uber. Called to address the missing food and was told to just contact Uber with no resolution or compensation on their end. They took no responsibility for the missing food, and the food I received by Uber was fully intact and clearly not messed with. Beware when ordering takeout/delivery!
I had the special cut banh mi because that is my go to banhmi for years. I took one bite and the bread was really soft not crunchy and the cold cut quality was not delicious at all. It was dried and I had to sip on my drink every bite. The service was nice but the drive thru menu needs to be fixed because when I asked for the menu they said we had to go in or check on the phone. The menu on the window and on the drive thru sign is super faded I could not see anything.
The quality here has really dropped off lately. The last 3 times I’ve come, the bread was stale, and this last visit it was so bad the sandwich wasn’t even edible. Time before that parts of the meat was burnt and charred, like from an unclean grill. This time drive-through guy seemed inconvenienced and annoyed that I came to order, which was disappointing. I don’t want him or anyone to get in trouble, I just want to see this place do better. This used to be one of the best bánh mì spots around…fast, affordable, and delicious. I really hope someone takes notice, because I’d love to see it get back to that level again.
Not very busy when i was there. Spring rolls were not rolled very well, had very little ingredients. Asked for no peanuts and they put them. Lettuce in spring rolls were starting to turn bad .Glad I'm not allergic. Fried spring rolls came to table warm, very little filling. Food came out fast though lol Wouldn't return . Place was clean except for the first 2 different tables I sat at which were very sticky
I ordered pho with extra sciracha and jalapeno. They missed it. It’s missing! Plus, there were no utensils. And the soup flavor is not even on par with pho instant soup! Definitely not an authentic pho!
Just went there for an uber order. Asked for veggies on the side. Asked the to remake it due to a friend having an allergy. Handed me back food with precise of carrots and green onion on it after they were had a conversation. They also came back with two less pieces of chicken. I asked him if it was the portion side he said yes. I checked my box it had six. Then I had to ask to actually remake it this time instead of giving me back the same food, like I asked earlier. This could have been avoided if they followed the instructions I put on the ticket. I was not only gaslit about the portion size of chicken but lied to about remaking the food. As a 26 year old man who has been in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. What the heck. What a bad experience. Customer service is awful. Don’t waste your time.
Service and quality continues to decline here. I come very often and just do drive through. Came today on my lunch break and ordered 2 banh baos, both of the banh baos were still cold!!! I couldn’t even eat it. Like I had time to re microwave it on my lunch break. They weren’t even busy…they had the time to make my food right or not at all. I won’t be coming back.
I ordered the pho that included all the meats via uber eats and received the saddest most disgusting soup i’ve ever had. It only had two meats, one of which was slimy. So slimy that it stained the noodles when I opened it up. It does not smell fresh, didn’t even dare taste it. Quickly requested a refund and tossed it.
Absolutely the worst Pho experience I’ve ever had — and that’s saying something. Save yourself the frustration and order from literally anywhere else. We ordered shrimp spring rolls — they showed up with chicken. We ordered Pho Shrimp with extra veggies — we paid for the veggies — they sent ZERO. We ordered Pho with tendon — it came with eye steak instead — and again, we paid for extra veggies that never arrived. So unless you enjoy playing “mystery meat roulette,” this is not the place for you. If you expect to receive what you actually ordered and paid for? Forget it. This place couldn’t get a basic order right if their lives depended on it. Honestly, do yourself a favor and pretend this restaurant doesn’t exist. Block it on every app and move on with your life
Might be the worst banh mi I have ever had in my entire life. The meat was dry, the bread was dry which I don't even think they toasted it, there was barely any (if any) mayonnaise on the bread. The meats in the dac biet were cheap cuts and there were definitely some bites where I just had bread due to lack of proteins. I understand why it is cheaper than other places because you're basically paying for bread and some leftover deli meats. Please don't judge banh mi off of this place if it is your first time having it.
