Had the beef brisket on 1st visit. Was very good but alot of smoke flavor. Had the pulled pork on 2nd visit. It was even better. Great flavor and I used the sweet BBQ sauce on mine. The plates come with 2 sides. The salad is very large. The Mac/cheese is good, but fries are excellent.

10/10 I don't think there was a thing on my plate that wasn't amazing. But...what made this experience a 10/10 was the lady who was at the register when we paid. Omri was so kind and sweet. She made everyone around feel at home. She should definitely be the one who trains staff on hospitality because it comes naturally to her! You better keep her around!

Excellent food, very nice and clean place. My only comment can be that me and my friend chose to eat in the tables outside and they felt pretty sticky, but everything else was awesome. The bathrooms smell nice and they have some frames with clever quotes.

Alright, I know it is a bbq place, but you have to give the burger a shot. Remember the old fashioned burgers with melty cheese and all the fixings where you pick it up and the burger juices drip all over your hand? Yep, this is that! What a Fantastic burger! The juicy burger is so good and the bun is soft and fresh. The fries are pretty awesome too. The odd thing for me is that the burger comes with two patties, so it is just too big. Hungry folks will love it though. As usual, you have to end the whole thing with an amazing slice of pecan pie. Food is great, atmosphere is good, location off of Main, ehhhh. Otherwise everything is wonderful, come try the burger!

Everyone was very nice and welcoming! The food was amazing! I shared the catfish plate with my grandmother and I haven’t had good catfish like that in a long time! Fries were also well cooked and had lots of seasoning, my dad got the pulled pork baked potato and I even finished his when he was finished! Only thing I would say is they are a little pricey but, money well spent!

We love it so much that we went there two days in a row. We ordered the mixed platter on the first day, then just the baby back ribs on second day. Nice relax atmosphere. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese but order them anyway on both days as the side, cause my other half loved it. Portions were good for two people. We left full and satisfied.

It has been more than 10 years since I was in Houston and coming back to the area reminded me of good food. This place was on my list. Although there are lots of locations around the city I intentionally went to this location and was not disappointed. The service was great, the food fresh and everything was amazing. Located close to NRG. Even non-game days, it can get very busy. However, the team is very organized and keeps things running smoothly. I always get a hamburger at this location. Sometimes it comes out quickly, other times much slower. Usually, I get it to go. This time I dined in. They also have a drive-thru that I’ve never used. The burger is juicy, enjoyable, huge and filling. The sweet tear is always perfect. Staff is always kind to me.

I've eaten at Pappa's BBQ 3 times in 2 weeks while I'm Here in a medical trip for a family member. Pappa's is conveniently located right next door to our hotel so we can walk over. The brisket is juicy and plentiful, ribs huge flavorful, but the green beans are really the star. They are roasted or sauteed with tomatoes and onions to the most perfect texture: slightly crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside and perfectly flavored. Healthy. Such a departure from the typically overcooked, overly salty, mushy beans served at BBQ places. The baked potatoes are HUGE and fully loaded-- almost a meal in itself. Potato salad and cole slaw are tangy, reliable sta inples. Haven't had a bad bite yet. The staff is very friendly and they offer generous portions. The atmosphere is upbeat and casual. There's a relaxing patio.

The food is great but become to expensive for a person who lacks the financial means to enjoy the experience and comfort of fine dining as usual the have and the have-nots. I feel they have the ability to come customized something for the less fortunate who wants to enjoy the same experience. They need to be more inclusive and not be so driven by profit but the customers experience.

Solid Brisket, decent sides. My only problems are that staff needs to stay on top of cleaning off finished tables and that the food was no longer hot (probably did not start hot enough, too long on line to pay and get to a table). They were deal8ng with a post-NFL Game rush and its aftermath.

The barbecue here is really really good for being more of a “chain.” Their brisket has an excellent smoke ring and char, giving it a really good flavor and texture in the outside. The smoked sausage is also really nice with a good snap with the casing. Their bbq sauces are also excellent, coming in regular, hot, and mustard flavors. The Mac and cheese is good, but a little too watery for my liking. The yams are amazing. Definitely get this side when you come here! The main thing I didn’t like was the beef rib. It was incredibly tough, dry, and barely had any meat. I would not recommend this at all. Overall really good BBQ if you just don’t get beef ribs.

We have been this restaurant before several times and really loved the food. Today we placed a to go order for 3/4lb beef brisket and 3/4lb pulled pork. But when we opened the pull pork box, even my child asked if these meat really weight 3/4 lb. We did some measurement with kitchen scale, the brisket was fine, weighted 350g with box, but the pull pork only weighted 298g with the box. If you count the 15g weight for the box, we only received about 80% of the pull pork we purchased. 20% off the meat were gone somewhere. Very disappointed !

I frequently visit all Pappas restaurants and I used to come to this location every other week bc it's so convenient from my job. But, I really have to say that I do not appreciate the unwelcoming experiences I've had. I have modified how I can enjoy this location which is also part of why I go less often. Curbside was my usual go to, until an employee complained to me about using the service and suggested I pickup inside in the future. On the next visit, I picked up inside and got a bad attitude bc the employee did not want to walk to the back to get it. So now I only go if I have time to dine in. Unfortunately, today as I waited in line, I tried to get an employee's attention for bread, she completely ignored me. She was standing directly in front of me. After calling her "ma'am" multiple times I called her by name on her tag and she continued to ignore me. I gave up on it and then she told me that it was not her name and corrected the pronunciation. She still did not offer any eye contact or service. Which I then asked for the bread and she did give it to me. I can say that the majority of the staff is very kind and helpful. But somehow I'm running into the bad apples. I understand these are new times, but respect and courtesy should be offered at all times to everyone by everyone. I'm always respectful and patient with you guys and do not appreciate this kind of treatment.

Pro: Food was delicious! Con: There are no signs to say you need to get a tray or "grab tray here". Next, the lady that took the order (black hair/tan skin, short hispanic) & the lady at the register (black hair indian/hispanic) are not thrilled or happy to be working whatsoever. They act like you should know where things are and answer with an attitude or sarcastically. Ex. An old man behind me asked where the trays are, the lady responded "they're right behind you!" with a sarcastic attitude, and he said, "oh I'm sorry I didn't see that"... they shouldn't have customers apologizing when we don't know and there are no signs. They shouldn't talk to them negatively, or act like we are in the way when we are walking to find stuff... Other than that, I did love the baked potato. Fountain drinks are more syrup, so if you want the carbonation- get the glass bottles. I feel if they're more on the expensive side- those 2 ladies NEED a training class in customer service.

The brisket baked potato was really good, but I also got the brisket plate and some pieces in the brisket plate were juicy and the other ones were dry… But the flavor of the brisket is good. Also, I feel like the potato salad have way too many onions in it. I don’t mind a few, but I feel like I was tasting more onions and potatoes.

I love this location and I love BBQ, I really do. I always look forward for treating myself to a chicken sandwich from this location on the weekends. Unfortunately, there were flies in their macaroni when I went there recently. I told the cashier about that and she repeatedly told one of their employees (young woman) to dump it out, but that employee that was told to throw the macaroni out because it had flies- seemed so confused by that command and was standing there playing charades with the cashier lady all confused because she was asked to throw it away due to flies. Makes you question what other things they let slide. Having said that, I’m a fan of this location but I’m precautious because now I can’t trust their restaurant is as per health code standards.

They say they've been open since 1961, I think I must have been served briket from that year. The brisket was so dry, had to swallow it like a pill! The pork rib and sausage they served me, were not very good. Over priced for the quality and taste provided.

I had breakfast and lunch here. The brisket breakfast taco was good. The brisket dinner plate lacked meat and moisture. Breakfast drew me in, dinner said ummm nope. My sister had the smoked turkey potato. The entire potato lacked seasoning. She said it tasted like chewed up baby food.

Paid $56 for two people my girlfriend got the brisket baked potato. I got the beef trio with yams and ranch beans. Overall I give it a 7.5 the yams had onions in the bowl so it had them taste like onions, the yams were not tender some where still hard when I bit into it. The beef trio was delicious along with the beans. Food could have been hotter very much warm. My girlfriend loved the baked potato. I would come back to give them another try.

Pappas should be ashamed of themselves. I got 2 meat plate with Yams and Mac and cheese. For 21.00 dollars it was a waste. Meat was dry as hell. Yams was hard and funny taste, the Mac was kinda watery. I thought I was getting an chicken breast with bone in but I get sliced breast. It doesn't describe online but I will never order there again. I haven't been here since 2020. I should have stayed away. Quantity of meat is not worth it and quality is even worse

First time visiting. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere and how they had everything you needed right there in the open was awesome. They just overcooked my catfish plate😒. Wasn't a fan of that. Busy 4th of July at the restaurant today. I understand the staff is busy, but all orders should still be checked for accuracy. After waiting in a very long curbside line for an order I placed 30 min prior to then wait in a 20 min line, I come home to have food items missing from my order. Didn't want to give this place 2 stars, but yeah the food wasn't worth the price we paid. I got the 2 beef ribs and there was a lot lacking as far as taste and quality. The rice was pretty decent but the Mac and cheese was super watery and not enjoyable. Also I've had a better baked potato with brisket at Jason's Deli. The positive about this place is that it's open late and if you didn't plan for dinner earlier than 9PM ...well its better than nothing 🤪! Also the brisket plate that the guy behind us looked good so I'll try that next time if I return.

This BBQ was just ok. Rib Trio was a joke. The beef ribs had no meat. Brisket on a two meat plate was full of fat. I would rate this down around cafeteria type BBQ. Definitely not the Pappas that once was. If you want good BBQ, look elsewhere.

I’ve been here a total of 3 times this year. Every time there was an issue. Service is great, atmosphere is great also. The issue is the meat. The first time I got ribs- they didn’t seem cooked enough for me so I didn’t eat them just my sides. The second and third time I got chicken. Both times my chicken was still bleeding. I spoke with the manger the second time and he accommodated us with new chicken which was great. This third and final time same thing- chicken was bleeding, the manager on duty this day didn’t apologize like the last one and instead offered us cake and pie. We took it as we didn’t want to be ungrateful and ended up taking the raw chicken home and finished cooking it. A refund wasn’t necessary because we still left with chicken- just cooked it to temp at home. Although the service, atmosphere, and side dishes were great I will not be back.

I definitely understand inflation but does it mean price increase with a reduction in what you pay for❓I have been a Pappas BBQ fan for years - and after reading these reviews I am wondering if it’s time to consider other options. ~ For what I spent tonight on 2 kids meals and a 2 meat poboy that was real slim on the meat… Well let’s say I learned an expensive lesson‼️

I’m so disappointed, I was on my way to work and so hungry and craving a chef salad from Pappas BBQ. I haven’t had one in a long time, so I decided to stop by 8777 Main St location on my way to work and buy one. I order from the drive through and couldn’t wait to get to work to eat my salad before my shift started. When I open the container the disappointment and couldn’t believe what I had in front of me. I had paid $15.10 for this, and on top of it burn meat!!!!😡 I was like where is the rest of my salad?who’s leftovers are this? Unbelievable!!! Now I have to work my eight hours shift disappointed, angry, hungry and with $15.10 dollars in my pocket. If you go to this location please check your order before leaving, because if not you’ll probably end up like me!!!!!😡🤬

I'M SO OVER THIS PLACE!!! 🫠😡😤🤬😠 To be completely transparent, it's my fault!! I'm the idiot! I KNOW that the ONLY thing this place can get CONSISTENTLY right are the breakfast tacos! I've made promises, cursed the Gods and sworn on the HOLIEST of Bibles that I'd never give this place another dime. But, the Universe will lead me there via lunch with a colleague who's drawn the "choose lunch" card -- and every bite is delicious. Then, I lower my defenses, give them another try, and DISASTER!!! I pretty much order the same thing every time I go: 1/2 - 3/4 lb loose cut brisket, fries, and a chopped beef sandwich for lunch the next day. Inevitably (I mean, right on cue), I end up with unidentifiable beef chunks and meat shingles! EVERY. DAMNED. TIME. I don't eat a lot of meat but there are times when my body CRAVES red meat (I'll spare you the details) and because this place is around the corner from my house it's the logical choice. Unfortunately, on New Year Eve 2025, my body is craving red meat and I've ended up with The Old Reliable! At this moment, I've added the resolution to "Lick one of my tires before I EVER give this place another penny of my money!" to my list! Honestly, I pass three of the best barbecue spots in the city (Pinkerton's, The Pit Room, and Triple J's) on my way home from work, so it makes no sense for me to continue to choose to pay $44 for the old reliable, just because it's convenient? Besides, is it THAT convenient if I have to bring it back every time they mess it up?! I don't think so. I can't tell you which of the three spots on my way home from work is going to be my new place, but I can tell you that I'm serious this time! As a matter of fact, I decided to write this BEFORE I could be appeased by them making it right. After all, this is Texas, and life's too short for The Old Reliable aka mediocre BBQ! Because I am not someone who isn't afraid to admit their part in an error, I'd like to add a "Clarification Addendum": While returning The Old Reliable, my receipt fell out of my pocket and I noticed that I was charged for the EXACT opposite of what I ordered. Rather than being charged for 3/4 of a pound of LOOSE CUT BRISKET, I was charged for 3/4 of a pound of EXTRA LEAN BRISKET [Sidenote: The receipt snafu has no bearing on history. Due to the level of "Old Reliable trauma" I've endured, the crux of this review will stand.] However, if I had checked my receipt before leaving, I'd have seen the error immediately and would not have had to bring it back -- THAT is my part in the error. *** Please check your receipts before you leave -- you shouldn't have to but you have to. ***

I just ordered a brisket sandwich and 1/2 chicken with brisket and sides to go. I literally live 3 mins away on murworth next to the gas station. All my food was cold not even luke warm! What a disappointment for the price paid maybe they don't care thinking it's drive through and I'm not eating there.

Worst customer service ever mobile order I order my food 30 minutes ahead of time payed for too get there nobody came out sitting for 15 minutes went inside food ready nobody came wanted to come outside strike one...... next time I'm dinning in got my food approaching cashier person before me paid I'm next the cashier look pass me to the to go order line and ask who ready to order at least they said something like he's first

I got the chopped beef baked potato and hardly any meat and lots of butter got all over the car seat and the chef salads only have one slice of sausage and two slices of brisket and one slice of ham really disappointed for the price that's not a good deal for a three meat salad

I ordered food yesterday March 4th and was really disappointed from the quality of food. I ordered Lean brisket and got more fat than meat. After trying to reheat what little meat we had, the meat tasted and smelled horrible. That is not the quality of food that one would expect from a restaurant as popular as Pappas. I specifically order lean brisket because for some reason majority of the time they give me more fat than meat.

I drove from Rosharon, TX to Pappas BBQ on South Main in Houston, just for the burger, and it was such a disappointment. Normally, it’s a 1/2 pound juicy patty, but this time it looked closer to 1/4 pound—if that. The fries were soggy on top of it all. I ended up throwing everything away. What a waste of money, gas, and time. Honestly, one star feels generous.

I have at barbecue all over the world, and this is about the worst BBQ I have ever ate. For everyone that says this place is great, well they don't know bbg. Over priced for what you get, meat dry, and baked potato was also dry and not moist and tasted like it had set out to long. The BBQ beans were horrible! Almost a hundred dollars and the only thing I enjoyed was the banana pudding. Now for atmosphere. No greeting at all and they looked pissed off at us for asking questions. Don't waste your money at this place. Owners...don't ask me to fill out a survey card because evidently you tell everyone who has had a complaint with you to do that and you haven't fixed one thing yet. Same complaints over a year ago!

44 bucks for 2 two meat plates that were like 5 bites each? What a rip-off

This use to be our go to barbecue place, even when it was Luther’s BBQ; my question is what happened to the portion sizes?! I am highly disappointed with how things have been going with this establishment. We, as paying customers, spend lots of money to enjoy good bbq and the sides and your company has hoodwinked us with little to nothing in the portions. This is ridiculous to spend over $50-60 dollars and we are getting scraps. I most likely will have to find another place or location to go to which is unfortunate.

I usually never leave reviews but I had to do it , my plate of brisket was horrible…maybe because it was @ 7 pm and they had a busy day but the brisket was super dry, hard and cold , Mac and cheese were ok and jams cold too.

I just picked up an order I placed online. Whoever packed the bag didn't care that they placed old molded packages of condiments in the bag. The entire bag reeked of mildew. I couldn't even eat the food. Why would you serve this when you knew that these packets were opened, smashed, molded, and had had dried ketchup all over them! Disgusting!

I wanted to share some feedback on my recent visit. I ordered ribs and the bill came to $54. Honestly, for that price, I could have gone to Fogo de Chão for an all-you-can-eat experience. It felt very overpriced, especially since no drinks were included. I hope you’ll reconsider your pricing.
