This is a local favorite! You can tell right when you walk in this is a locals best kept Secret. If you’re craving some seafood while in Houston this is the spot. All the food is fairly priced, which is not usually the case when you are talking about seafood. The baked Parmesan oysters were awesome! If you come and visit, this is a must try!!!!!! Bonus points for their creative landscaping solution!

It’s my favorite place! It’s my “Cheers!” I’ve been a customer since 1986. Today my server was Eva. She was so patient with me. I moved 3 times!! Too much sun, purse too big to find a hook, then just right. She’s so sweet and customer service ready. Food was HOT and delicious. Enjoyed time with a dear friend which made it more enjoyable.

Had the pleasure of Eva being my server during a quick lunch which she recommended I try the crab fingers along with the captains platter. Eva is AMAZING! Every time we come to Capt. Benny’s she goes above and beyond. She’s super friendly and always makes sure we have everything we need. You can tell she cares about her customers. Really enjoyed my visit. I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo and the tilapia special, and both were honestly so good. Our server, Eva, was really enthusiastic and checked on us throughout the meal, which made the experience even better. Definitely recommend!

We’ve been coming to Houston several times a year for 10 years. We always hit this Captain Benny’s location when we’re in town. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere casual, warm and welcoming. Guy and all the wait staff take great care of us every single time! Emma in particular is a very efficient server. Love the fried catfish and the gumbo. My husband loves the ice cold beer in a frosted mug that Guy serves up!

My husband and I are here at MD Anderson..just haven’t had the best meal experience until TODAY!! I found Captain Benny’s..little dive and it was everything plus some! We shared plates to just try more! Thank you to our waiter Guy!! He was amazing! Loved the company sitting ext to us! We will be back when we come back for follow up appointments!

The atmosphere is very homey and cozy. The staff is wonderful, attentive and personable. It just adds to the amazing and plentiful food they offer. Had the stuffed jalapenos which were good and hot! Hot temperature wise and spice wise which was great! Had the shrimp po boy that was stuffed with so much shrimp. Portion sizes are good and food is flavorful! Highly recommended!

This place was just one of our random picks that we did for the day. Going by the reviews we figured we would try it. Why not? Well, we figured out why we should have dug deeper on the reviews. To building and decor was neat and different. The guys at the bar were nice and inviting when we walked in. Then came our waitress. For 11am, she must have already been having a bad day or something. She didn't really want to "wait" on us, she definitely didn't want to answer any questions about the menu. She kept trying to walk away before we finished ordering or asking questions. Then the food got there. We got the jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp, some crab stuffed jalapenos and then our meals. I will post pics but let's just say the shrimp on my meal were bigger than the jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp. Those were the size of my husband's pinky, if that. The crab stuffed jalapenos tasted or smelled like dog food. The tilapia fillet and fried shrimp was alright but there was no seasoning just cornmeal batter. The grilled redfish fillet was just that grilled, no flavor. Overall, the experience was sad to say the least. It may have been a little better if we had sat at the bar and had one of the 2 guys working it serve us. At least they were cheerful the whole time.

To go order: Ordered several of the Combo Baskets...4 shrimp & 2 pieces of fried fish. Food taste good but the pieces of fish were small. Like they took a fillet and cut it in half to make 2 pieces. Was quite disappointed considering I convinced the staff (some out of towners) to order from this place.

First timer: Okay we ordered the catfish basket. Ordered because of the review images. Expected those three big juicy pieces shown in the photos....irl three smediums...undercooked. Slimy and very not fully done. Moving on. Fries: old, stale and lukewarm. Hushpupies....very well done and seasoned and fresh out of the fryer. The husppupies was the reason for the one star. Also say a guy fix somones soup without gloves...that was my cue right then and i should have taken heed. Oh well. Next time ill remember to never go again.

Food was bland to say the least. Did have the gumbo, it was ok after adding hot sauce to it. Got the fried catfish, shrimp, fries and hush puppies. Ate a shrimp, piece of catfish, some fries and the two small hush puppies. Left the rest! Oh and tried the crab appetizer. $12 or something, for a handful of blue crab claws that were “broiled” which were dried out but thankfully they had flavor. Couldn’t wait to leave! Was very disappointed!!
