Cozy, unique and quirky n a great way. This restauranteur is a true-blue neighborhood gem, and has a wonderful compact menu that is partnered with some great craft beers and a really, really fun wine menu to explore. When the weather cooperates we love the patio, as there is just something special about getting to share a few new great wines from around the world w ur friends out under the trees and night sky… and u can count on their helpful staff to guide u down the road of exploration, without having to break ur favorite piggy bank open either. Delicious food, great ingredients, and some house specialties like the pasta that is hard for me not to order every dang time. Explore, enjoy, be happy…yum.
Came by for a Quick Tuesday Happy Hour and fell in love. The staff is so warm and accommodating. You feel like your are meeting old friends. The food is divine. Every dish feels like you are tasting heaven! Come by for a quick bite, a catch up with friends, or just to enjoy their immense selection of wines! Plonk yourself in!
This was hands down the best food, service and atmosphere that I've had in a long time!! I asked them to surprise me with "what I would like"... I forgot to say I didn't lamb... and guess what I like now? Lamb chops!! The charcuterie board insane!! Fed 4 of us and was soooo good and affordable!! Every dish was amazing and the leftovers that I brought my mom, who is a picky eater she loved! The peach cobbler and homemade ice-cream... perfection. The red wine 🍷 Mariposa... excellent! If you haven't tried this place you are missing out! I'm showing an empty clean plate because the peach cobbler that we split never even touched the plate and I don't have any other photos because we were all enjoying ourselves!! (Except I wanted us to remember the wine we had). I hope your experience is as good as ours was.
This is a fun place. Not a typical wine bar feel. More of a neighborhood bar feel. A lot of wine on the menu. Definitely a revisit is needed. The food and the service is what made it for me. Super friendly and helpful. Ask about the name. It’s an interesting story. The food is fresh and delicious. Braised short ribs!!’
This was my second time going and tried the chicken pot pie that was the best by far! It was served in this cute small cast iron pot. They have a large wine selection, great boards and the customer service was excellent. Also ordered the prosciutto pizza that really paired well with the wine. Will definitely go back to try the rest of their menu.
Well this is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood! A friend of mine recommended it to me one night. The next day we had to try it since we are foodies. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. It’s a great place to hang out either at the bar, outside, or dining in. The waiter was excellent in comparing wine with our meal. The food was delicious and very well cooked. And the dessert was so delicious! Just know that you have to save room for it because it’s a very generous portion.
From the very beginning, the planning process was top-notch. I’d been in contact with the owner, Scott, for weeks leading up to our reservation, and he was nothing short of incredible. He was so generous with his time and ideas, even offering to create a personalized pre-fixe menu just for our group (which we ultimately didn’t need, but the gesture said so much about the level of care they put into their guests). We had a gorgeous private indoor room that accommodated our large group comfortably and stylishly—it felt intimate and special without being cramped. One of the highlights of the evening was the charcuterie board, a total showstopper crafted by their chef. It was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, a perfect way to kick off our celebration. Our server, Chris, was phenomenal—super engaged, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making our night great. Every dish that came out was delicious, from start to finish. You can tell the team at Plonk! takes real pride in what they do. Whether you’re planning a big event like we did or just looking for a cozy, elevated date night, I can’t recommend this place enough. I felt welcomed, cared for, and totally impressed. Plonk! made our night unforgettable, and I’ll absolutely be back!
Came here for a wine tasting event. Understand why Plonk stays bustling and busy. Good vibes. A great selection of interesting wines, lots of options by the glass. And the food is delicious. The chef Kala even put together a food and wine pairing menu, which we tried. Thanks for a fun evening. Will come back again!

Incredible dining experience! Great service and fantastic food. I'm a retired executive chef, everything was spot on!
Great Service! The gentleman that waited/served us was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Food was excellent. I had the Short Rib and my Husband had the Pork Chop. Our friends had the Short Rib and the Lamb. Short Rib was a nice portion, excellent grits. We had beer, wine, several appetizers and four entrees for about $200. We all agreed we would be back.
Wife and I went here for Valentine's Day on a recommendation from a friend. I've lived in Houston for the better part of a decade and have never heard of this place, but it may be my favorite restaurant in the city now. Staff was friendly and engaging, including the owner, Scott. Short rib, rotolo, and crudo were outstanding. Wine selection was excellent. We can't wait to go back and continue to be regulars. If you're looking to support a local business that gets how to combine quality and hospitality, this is the one.
We love this place — the food (short rib!), pizza, the music, the vibe, the patio, the owner, but especially the wine. Their wines are just my favorite thing. They’re beautifully curated and every one I’ve ever had has seemed special, and excellent, as far as my meager palate is concerned. Wonderful, casual, but nice, a classic favorite neighborhood place we love.
Great experience for our first time. Short rib, filet, pork chop, and provoleta app were all great and worth the wait as they were busy, busy. I'd like to return just for the charcuterie boards and wine even though they're not in our area. The service was great and the atmosphere was as well. Super impressed by their ability to handle the crowd and the menu offerings with a small kitchen and staff. 10/10
Everything is perfect at Plonk lol. Make sure you realize everything is cooked from scratch. Its not fast food. I had the flatbread. It is exquisite. It has seperate cheese and tomatoes etc. I like it better tjan pizza. I had never had flatbread like this before. Its perfectly cooked crust. The kids had hamburgers. Its so relaxing to sit outside. We love it. The service is great also.
This place is bonkers… you want to eat for $25/person? Get a guanciale burger and a craft beer. You want to eat for $200/person? Get a rack of lamb, crab cake appetizer, and a bottle from the north Rhône. Don’t skip the guanciale burger or the duck leg confit. You are going to have good conversation no matter what, great food no matter what, you are gonna love this place.
Great food. Everything is from scratch. I had the halibut and it's amongst the best seafood ive had. It has a little bit of kick to it. Crab cakes were real crab meat and the brownie skillet was out of this world. Everything was delicious and will be coming back.
The firecracker pizza is one of my all time favorite pizzas in Houston. Plonk has consistently been putting out great food for a decade. The wine list is extensive and interesting. Perfect date night spot.
Plonk is the definition of a hidden gem! My husband and I used to eat dinner here frequently when we lived in Oak Forest. We have since moved but still like to make our way back for dinner. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is always so friendly and quirky which is what makes the restaurant so special. The owner is very nice too. The music is a curated mix, I am always Shazamming songs to find out what they are. The wine selection is vast. The outdoor patio gives a treehouse vibe. Very cool restaurant!
I’ve been here twice and had a lovely time both times. Tried several items on the menu including the chicken and mushrooms and the burger and they were both delicious. They have a great wine selection and a nice outdoor patio.
This restaurant is a hidden gem where the love and care that they put into their food preparation and service is readily apparent in every bite. To top it off, all of the above is provided with convenient parking, an uncrowded and nominally subdued dining experience (dinner conversation does not require that you scream at the top of your lungs), and relaxed “neighborhood” atmosphere. We live in The Woodlands (20 miles away), and are repeat customers (and the trend will continue).

Have been here a couple of times recently and really enjoyed. Great wine selection, nice happy hour, great service and a pleasant outdoor seating area - will be back!

We’ve dined in and ordered take out. The food is great. Most of the dishes we’ve tried are fantastic. The pot pie is usually great. Sometimes it could use a little salt. However, for example, tonight, we have a big ice storm coming, and they were running some take out special, yet they still added a 30% gratuity to the tab. Every time we’ve ordered out, despite loving the food, the hidden charge doesn’t sit well. I figured tonight, since they were running a “special” they wouldn’t tack it on. I read through some reviews and see some people complaining about it too. I get that the pandemic was difficult on the service industry but a 30% gratuity is over the top. Specially if you’re not telling your customers about it when they place their orders. It’s tacky. My husband and I always tip 15-20%, I know not everyone does but 30% for TAKEOUT not even sit in, is too much and makes it hard to support an otherwise great neighborhood place.

Way too overpriced. I am giving it 2 stars because our waiter was the best. He was generous, kind, and entertaining. Other than that, it sucked. The two bottles of wine we got retail around $15, and they marked them up to around $50. That's a huge jump. My scallops were way too salty with little effort for the dish. My wife was misinformed about hers thinking it was separate lamb and pasta when it's lamb bolognese. She tells me everything was better with Erin Smith as a chef. This is a neighborhood spot for us, and it disappoints me to say that we won't revisit until these issues are fixed or at all.

Relaxed atmosphere for family dinners. Sophisticated menu +extensive wine list. Owner, Scott, earned his expertise at top Houston Steak House. Papas Bros & has done quite well here since opening some 13-14 years ago. He watches everything like a hawk to assure all customers are pleased with their dining experience! Go !
