I was recommended to come to this restaurant and trust me the oxtails where amazing!!! The garlic shrimp where cleaned and super tasty! Yes I will return.... The taste was right on point!!!
delicious food! Oxtail is incredibly tender and portions are huge. Service is amazing. Employees are very polite and welcoming. 10/10 experience overall
First time visiting Reggae Hut well worth the stop. The stew chicken with rice and peas and mixed veggies was so delicious. Also, the beef patties and kola champagne were yummy.
Disappointed in myself that I did not take pictures as My love and I got our food to go because we have been out in Houston all day long and we're just ready to get back to our Airbnb. We got the stewed chicken and oxtails which comes with rice and peas and vegetables. We order the side of plantains which were very very good. We also ordered some of the homemade drinks which are traditional Caribbean drinks such as ginger beer and sorrel (I think that's how you spell it). They also offered other traditional Caribbean homemade drinks as well. The food came out piping hot as we had a 10 minute drive back to the Airbnb and it was still really hot and smoking. There is lots of seating there if you'd like to order in and stay with a wonderful variety of soca and reggae music. The mister is from the Caribbean and he highly recommended the food as well as the reggae Hut is operated and I presume highly owned by a member of the beautiful Caribbean. They held a conversation with one another and spoke about their hometowns so this isn't just a Houstonian creating this food it's someone who knows the culture! The staff was friendly and kind which is a big plus for me and something I definitely look for. They also have food trucks so be on the lookout for them as well.
Finally!!! New to the area, I’ve been in search of some good authentic Jamaican food. When I say 10/10!!! I ordered Curry goat, Rice and Peas and Cabbage with a Coco Bread and Beef Patty on the side. Listen! I had to stop midway to type this review. My plate was nice and full, Beef Patty had a great kick and nice flakiness. Not one once of disappointment in my body. There was parking in the back and I was greeted upon entry with warm smiles. Music was nice and the ambiance made me feel like, yes this is the real deal! Alright let me go finish my food. I will definitely return, most likely to try the Jerk / oxtails next!
I am so glad I finally stopped by Reggie Hut after church! This place is a gem, and honestly, the experience was made even better by their incredible staff. I have to give a huge shout-out to Mya. She was genuinely the best! I had a bunch of questions (I'm usually indecisive!), but she didn't just give quick answers; she was super familiar with the entire menu. It was obvious she knew every dish inside and out. It made ordering feel easy! And the food? I'm digging into it right now, and it's absolutely banging! Everything is so fresh and flavorful. I'm already planning my next visit.
So I came because the previous day this food was catered at a gathering I was at and it was delicious. So I asked where was it from .although I’m from third ward never been to reggae hut and for oxtails only soul food restaurants. Welp from now on it’s the reggae hut. The oxtails are pricey but definitely worth it! I didn’t feel bloated with greasy gravy. The oxtails had more meat than fat . Which was a plus for me. I also bought plantain and a beef meat pie. I had some left for lunch the next day . The customer service was very good! The guy Carl and the young lady with nose ring and the cashier was very polite and smiles no attitude.
This was a 10 out of 10.. I really loved the atmosphere.. I felt at home. Customer Service was great.. The gentleman name Carl was so so helpful and patient and kind. The Price was right and the vibe was just right.. I FELT COMFORTABLE ENOUGH to stay and eat my meal. …This has blessed my whole Day…
I ordered two large curry goats with rice, peas, and cabbage. It was outstanding. The meat was so soft, falling off the bone, and very flavorful. I thought plantains automatically came with the order, but they didn't. You have to order plantains separately. They are $4.95 for 8, and we ended up getting 10. So that was a nice surprise since it's unusual not to get plantains in the meal. But back to the food, everything was so delicious. There were even potatoes in the goat gravy. And, little nibbles of corn on the cob in the cabbage, which also came with broccoli and carrots. The vegetables were so soft and felt good going down. I also ordered some homemade lemonade and it was a little on the sweet side but still so very good. We parked in a small parking lot on the backside of the store. It's small inside, so we decided to park close by and enjoy our food in the car.
I came here because I saw some reviews. Let me tell you that this was even better than the reviews! I was in there eating like a little fat kid swinging my legs eating! Everything was so flavorful, hot & tender. I had the jerk chicken & I wanted more, but I was too full. We also had curry goat & it was tender too. The rum punch was my favorite drink. The only problem that we had was that we didn't have another stomach to put more stuff in. Lmbo. The staff were also very friendly. We talked about all different types of subjects. This will be visited when we come back! Great job!

OMG…I’m a lover of Caribbean food. But Reggae Hunt tops the charts. I ordered the oxtail plate and my Boyfriend ordered curry goat plate. Large amounts of food well worth the price. I took home two o…
My experience overall was positive. The food was flavored well. The chicken wasn’t cooked consistent; a little red on one piece. The jerk didn't seem marinated. They do offer sauce, but I didn't try that this round. The people were really nice and the atmosphere was friendly. They did struggle a bit to accommodate seating for the size of our group (14). The pressed juice was excellent! The vegetables were the talk of the table. I would recommend and would consider visiting again.
The food and service was really good. We got the brown snapper and it comes with rice and a veggie mixture. Large portions. My boyfriend and I shared and still had left overs. We also got a veggie patty, rum punch, and plantains. I gave 4 out of 5 star just because I wish the plantains were made fresh to order and the interior of the shop needs to be updated but overall I still had a great experience.
The food really wasn't great. overpriced for what it is to say the least. I've had better Jamaican food and probably wouldn't come here for that.
Loved this place! I have always loved reggae and I can't get over how cool this place is! This little hole in the wall stands out far more than the rest
I did not enjoy this place. First off, the lady who greeted us was not nice and it seems rather uninterested to be there. The energy in the restaurant on this Monday night seemed very odd and I’m not sure if that’s normal. Now onto the food, the presentation was very bad. They gave cabbage which is supposed to be chopped , but it looked like they put the whole cabbage in the bowl and let it fall apart I’m talking big large pieces and it was not good. I ordered the curry chicken and it looked like they scooped it out and dumped it on my plate, I wish I had taken a picture because it looked like slop (I hate to sound mean but it did). My partner had the jerk chicken and it was extremely spicy. You couldn’t enjoy the flavor because it was so spiced. Lastly, the rice and peas had this weird flavor like powdery or something. Both dishes with a drink we’re about $42.
I ordered the curry Goat. It looks like soup. They barely put any curry on it. The color is horrible and the taste is worse.

I threw up directly after eating, the chicken was dry. I'm not sure if it was fresh or old, food wasn't good at all. If i wasn't at work, i would have taken it back, and asked for a refund.
Beware!!! My husband and I was sick after eating at this restaurant. We went back the next day to ask for a refund. We talked with the Manager which was a woman. she infomred us that she didn't have …
New owners and the Food is trash!! I paid 59.00 for a red snapper that looked and tasted old cold and salty They also gave me a Tablesoon of rice and cabbage they put 2 quarter size plantains. I called them to complain and got what sounded like a teenager and did not care NEVER AGAIN
On October 19 I visited this restaurant hoping I get the same experience and great customer service and good food I did the previous time I come in. .. However, this time around the employees (A guy and a female ) were very unprofessional, did not give me what I wanted and told me they had no Jerk wings available. I am a visitor coming all the way from Nevada. All I wanted was a good meal for my money worth. But they did not apply any effort to accommodate my needs. They need to be retrained to make customers feel valuable.
This place has become American, sugar in everything. The oxtails are ketchup and sugar.. so bad.. you can't even taste the all spice.. the vegetable melody with cabbage is bland with sugar. A waste of oxtails . I left my plate like this.. the worst. Try Pon da road or Caribbean hotspot on the North side .. ugh
This is my second time getting takeout. My first takeout of goat curry with vegetable medley and rice was ok, came with an acceptable amount of meat curry so I thought to myself that was a good meal and I would go back. But this time, the quality and value of it was not consistent. Still tastes decent but absolutely Overpriced. Got the a la carte shrimp dish and the goat curry. How is this a $40 takeout? And the goat curry is mostly bones this time. The pictures are taken before a single bite was eaten.
I’m very disappointed with this meal and feel like I wasted $28. I wasn’t impressed by the food photos on the website but I decided to give it a try anyway. The staff was welcoming and friendly, which I appreciated. However, as a Jamaican, I have to say this was the worst Jamaican food I’ve ever had. Not only was it overpriced, but the jerk chicken didn’t taste like jerk chicken at all. It tasted like it was marinated in Red Stripe and baked in an oven. I couldn’t even finish the meal because I genuinely disliked it, and the presentation was unappetizing. To make matters worse, I ordered a fruit punch, expecting something fresh or authentic. Instead, I got a bottled drink that tasted like Grace strawberry syrup which was overly sweet and artificial. They also charged a $1.75 packaging fee for a to-go order that came in a basic foam container and plastic bag. I would NOT recommend this place if you're Jamaican or looking for real Jamaican cuisine. I honestly wish I hadn’t gone.
