Luis (our cook) and the rest of the staff was impressive and presented and cooked our food with such professional and extended courtesy! Food was, of course, cooked with expert precision! Definitely will be returning here again!
First time experience. My wife and me enjoy very much the hibachi and the chef. Food is very delicious when cooked like. Overall very good. Thanks!
Lunch on Saturday before Christmas tasted great and wasn't crazy crowded. I hope it picks up for dinner so they can stay in business. Great salmon, and the Hibachi skills were solid enough for us. Price $40 each for dinner menu. Could spend more or less as desired.
Food was delicious as always, one of my favorite sushi and hibachi places! This day I was a little disappointed with the service for how long they had us wait to be seated, to how long they took to serve us & it was my youngest daughter birthday and this is the place she chose because she loves the food! Otherwise then that once we did get served everything went smoothly after that and the food was delicious and my favorite sushi rolls is the OMG ROLL & I love the chicken & shrimp hibachi rice as well as their egg rolls!
It has been a long while since we ate at a tempanyaki place. Took the wife and kids to celebrate their birthdays. Yes, 3 Feb birthdays!!! Atmosphere was great, clean place and a lot of space. Food was amazing! Flavor in every bite!!! Portions was way too much! I was very surprised and happy at the portion sizes for the cost. Next time, we won't order as much...lol! Our chef was amazing!!! He was energetic, funny, and seasoned the food very well!!! This is a must try spot! It can be pricey so look ahead online at their menu to get an idea of what you'd like or try their lunch specials during the week. For a family of 6 and every one getting their own meal, plus some sushi spent $200+. Definitely will be back!!!
Took my 9 year old granddaughter there...so much fun!! Noticed most all the tables had families with small children. I never thought of it as a place to take young children but it is. Some of the younger children were a bit frightened of the flames though. Food was very very good. Some of us had steak and some salmon. Very good.
There is wait time if you do not make reservations. The food is good and the portion is great. You can share for sure.
I took a friend who had never been here, paid for the hibachi grill experience. They seated 2 ladies at our grill and the cook appeared to be more interested in talking to them than doing the normal routine. They also asked him to not to add any butter to the rice and less seasoning on the food. He cooked all the food the same and never asked us how we wanted our food prepared. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. Not sure I'll go back. Used to be one of my favorite places.
Besides there being sewage smell when you walk through the door and the server spilling a glass of water on me it was GREAT! The food was fresh veggies were great. The mushroom soup (i HATE mushrooms) was very delicious and i was surprised. The ginger salad 10/10. My entree was the teriyaki steak with fried rice. All was good. The staff was very friends and "entertaining". Best Hibachi we've found in 5 years.
On a Sunday morning before noon, we arrived at Shogun just as they opened, and our party of five was prepared to be seated at our Hibachi-style table. After we place our drink orders, Jimmy, our chef, arrives right away. He was really amusing and excellent at what he did. Everyone liked seeing Jimmy prepare our steak and shrimp as well as our delicious soup and salad for lunch. Will be back for sure next time.
Went in a big group for a birthday party. Took 30 minutes to get a drink. Once orders were placed they did not have enough cooks to serve the group at once and it was split in 2. Refills were nonexistent and the wait staff could not be found. When time to pay, the waitress was sitting on her phone. Entire experience was almost 3 hours. Food was on par with any other hibachi. Will not return.
The grill where we seated was in Bad shape..trim was popped up and the grill was just plain dirty..Also there is a damaged piece of trim on the cooks side that broke and had sharp dirty edge..very unsafe! The soup or broth that comes with the salad was spoiled..I had been there before and know what it is supposed to taste like..Lastly,my daughter used the ladies room prior to leaving and said the restroom was disgusting with faucet that did Not turn off..Very sad to say that a place my daughter and I once enjoyed has gone down hill so badly..not worth the $100+,(3 people)..oh almost forgot..no soy sauce on our table...guess they were out..
Here’s what I’d write: Rating: ★★☆☆☆ Walked in, and the strong smell of bleach hit me like a freight train. I get that they had just opened, but it was overpowering. Unfortunately, the waitress didn’t help matters—she looked and smelled like last night’s party followed her to work. The spicy edamame? Not so spicy and definitely missing some love in the seasoning department. On the bright side, the sushi roll had great presentation, but looks can only carry you so far. Overall, not the experience I was hoping for.
I give this place a 2 based ONLY off of our servers service! We sat down and she asked for the drink order, upon me asking for a cocktail I was told she’s only taking water orders for the moment and left. It took a while for her to come back and when she did she explained the menu to my sister in law from out of town, after that I tried to order a drink AGAIN and she left yet again saying that she will give us time to order ( which we didn’t need extra time) she FINALLY came back ready to take the order by this time I was ready to order my cocktail. I ordered and it took a long while, after her taking the Caucasian family sitting next to us water AND cocktail order I had to ask her about my cocktail, which her answer was “it’s coming” with a not so pleasant look on her face! That sucked because we are a family that will spend money on quality service and food! The food was great, the chef had a GREAT personality which was a far cry from our server, I won’t be coming here again, we spent 148.87 on that bill, we would have returned if it wasn’t for the service of our waitress!!!
We showed up and waited for over 5 minutes to be greeted and seated. My wife and I plus multiple other guests waited and nobody greeted us. No “just a minute” or given wait time. Nothing. We left. Pretty sure I saw people also sitting at tables who seemed to be looking for a waiter and getting no service as well. Will not be even trying to go back.
The WORST dining experience I have had in years. It was so bad that at some point, it became comical.....or at least it would have been if dinner for 2 wasn't $97!!!!!! $97!!!!! For 2 people! Ok. I don't mind paying a restaurant for dinner. I would have paid twice that.....but... 1. Good-we were greeted and seated very quickly 2. Good-our drink orders were taken quickly quickly 3. BAD-they don't have Miller Lite, the waitress didn't know that, and she had to return 10 minutes later to let my son know. When asked for an alternative recommendation, she didn't know. Didn't bring waters yet. 4. I ordered a lychee martini and reminded her about the waters. 5. BAD-30 minutes later....beer is empty. No water. No martini. No one has taken our order. I have reminded the waitress 3 times about our drinks. Beer still empty. 6. Waitress says for the 4th or 7th time that it's her first day. Manager is hanging out at the hostess stand. 7. BAD-at one point i stood up and yelled "can I PLEASE have something to drink??!!" At that point it had been 45 minutes. No water. No martini. Beer still empty. 8. BAD-I MADE FULL EYE CONTACT WITH THE MANAGER AND BANGED THE TOP OF THE BEER WITH MY FORK. He avoided me. 9. The orders were taken. No soup or salad or roll yet. 1 hour in. 10.BAD-the chef shows up. Every single order (the whole table....not just me and my son) was wrong. No soup, salad or roll yet. We are ready to leave. 11. BAD-finally got my martini. Not smart to get a teed-off middle aged lady buzzed. 12. GOOD-cooking was fun. Tasted decent. 13. BAD-my table-mate didn't get fed. Had to ask where his food was. Beer still empty. Asked for to-go containers 30 minutes ago. I really want to go home. Im tired of hearing that its her first day. I don't care. They should have trained her. Every other party got a comped apology treat but us. This place is awful. I will NEVER GO BACK. Plus, its filthy.
We decided to give them one more chance. Shame on us. Here are some things they need to work on: sewage smell when you walk in. Definitely a plumbing issue that they’ve had since April. The lighting is bad in the grill area. The OMG rolls were way too big. You couldn’t enjoy them nor could you pick them up with your chopsticks. Btw: when we asked for the chopsticks, the female waitress said, “look behind you.” Yes - we had to get up and get them ourselves. It took a long time for the chef to come out and get started. The steak was bland and tough and we ordered it medium and overall the food lacked flavor. We won’t be back.
The older female waiter was very rude never asked was this our first time visiting. She didn't explain what all came with the onion soup. Once she presented our onion soup we noticed big chunks of floating mushrooms and I immediately asked her, why are mushroom in my soup? She replied, "Next time you order onion soup don't ask for mushrooms!" Me and my sister looked at each other with disbelief on our faces. Because, we wasn't expecting that response. I was so confused, because this being my first time here and not familiar with the menus and having a craving for Asian food I was kinda excited about trying this place out. I had just placed 4 different orders not evening caring about the high expensive cost because that's what I wanted to eat at that moment and I had placed orders for my hubby too but it was a to go order for later. Anyway, the rude waiter, took forever to stop saying finally "Next time don't order mushrooms" and I got tired of explaining to her the menu isn't detailed of letting us know that your onion soup comes with mushroom or any other additive ingredients, so how would I know what is included in this onion soup. Well, anyway, she finally decides to ask, " Do you want me to change it?" I replied, "Please?" She picks up the bowl walks away then 2 minutes later she c I mes back drop the bowl of soup on the hibachi table and walk away without saying anything as if it's our fault because we don't like mushrooms. She didn't apologize or even explain anything about this misunderstanding. I felt disrespected and unappreciated because I didn't understand the product of food being served. I could've have paid for everyone's food in that place tonight leaving an enormous amount tip on the table for that lady. But, she made me leave right in the middle of a processed order when all she had to do is acknowledge her customer service duties. I work at a large corporation and I will not spread the news of this place of business to anyone.
⭐️ My rating is strictly based on service. I ordered two sushi rolls over the phone since the Katy location does not offer online ordering. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty except for a lady sitting in the corner on her phone. I said “excuse me” several times before she finally looked up as I got close. Once I let her know I had called in an order, she quickly assisted me. However, when she told me the total, it was higher than the price listed on their online menu. I showed her the website, but at first she denied it was their menu and suggested it was for another location. Then she said prices had changed and told me if I didn’t like it, she could just cancel my order. This kind of dismissive and unprofessional service left a very poor impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.
The person who took the order on the phone did not take the order, correctly. She repeated the order and I corrected her and it still was incorrect. The girl hastily handed my phone and I asked her if she would bring me my change. She gave me an ugly look and said she would be back. She was a dollar off in change and I just wanted to get home because I had a cold. When I went to open my food I found grease seeping outside of the boxes of rice. The hibachi rice tasted like nothing but grease and the soup smelled odd and tasted very odd. I have never written a negative review but all of this was completely unnecessary and unacceptable.
This place was the most unorganized establishment I have eaten at in a long time. They don’t have a clear system in place for waiting for a table or when hibachi chefs come to cook for which table. Due to how busy they were they over sat tables so I was shoulder to shoulder with the person to my left and right. Once sat at the table, the service was nothing to brag about. I witnessed several people having to ask for the same item multiple times before receiving. Additionally, I noticed that the grill at my table was indeed broken in two different spots (which doesn’t make sense to have broken grills if you are over seating people at tables they should have the money to fix it) The food had way to much butter and overall not enough flavor. The steak that was requested to be medium was more like well done and way too tough.
